Interesting thing about RDMBSRealm

Hi. I'm using the RDBMSRealm example and I have a question for gurus.
I have two entries in my ACLENTRIES table:
1 - weblogic.servlet.AdminMain=paul
2 - weblogic.servlet.AdminMain=mike
In properties file I have the next sentence:
weblogic.allow.execute.weblogic.servlet.AdminMain=system
"system" is not defined in USERS table.
I'm able to open a http connection with users "paul, mike", but not with
"system".
Is this behavior correct ? If not, how can I correct it ?

"Tip 5: UV protected or heated windscreens may block the signal
Although not designed for it, the GPS receiver can be used in a car – if the conditions are very good. For example, a UV protected or heated windscreen may dampen the signal."
**bleep**????????????????
The GPS receiver was NOT designed to be used in a car. Then why the hell the selling car navigation software for it (quite an expensive one)???
We've used it in a motorhome here and in the south of france and it works fine no problems.

  • Interesting Stuff about Heat, Whining, and CPU

This whining noise with my new macbook pro has had me (and many others) stumped. I still havent found a solution, but I've gathered some interesting data with a great program found here: http://www.bresink.de/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html.
First, for those more worried about the heat, new MacBook Pros do not seem to have a heat problem (at least mine doesn't). Mine runs cooler on my lap than on my desk for some weird reason though. About 50 C on the desk and 40 or so on my lap. (I had posted in another topic that the laptop felt hotter on my lap, but after letting the unit sleep for awhile, then running it on my desk and then on my lap, Bresink's temperature monitor confirms the temperatures, which could be due to the vent design or my owning a crappy desk lol.)
Second, the System Information window shows my MacBook Pro as being manufactured on 4/14/06, so new revisions obviously did not fix the whining issue.
Third, the System Information window reports that the CPU does NOT have variable speed (***?) and shows it to be running at 1.83 ghz all the time regardless of power management settings or AC/battery power. Anyone else find this strange? Both the nominal CPU clock and the actual CPU clock are always at 1.83 ghz according to this program.

Another interesting information about the whine and why it, for some of the users who have a whining MBP, didn't occur on WinXP SP2:
MS KB918005 "Battery power may drain more quickly than you expect on a Windows XP SP2-based portable computer" ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918005/en-us )
After applying this fix, which fix a power drain due to bad power management in WinXP SP2, a user reported on onmac.net forum ( http://forum.onmac.net/showthread.php?t=1214 ) that his MacBook Pro started to whine on WinXP.
This confirm what said the former intel engineer who posted on this forum at the beginning of the talks about this issue. This fix will also likely make other notebook PCs whine.
So apparently MacOS X do manage the power correctly, and the fact that the whine didn't appear on WinXP SP2 was because of not using the CPU power states in which the whine appear (C4 power state for example). So the fact of no whine under WinXP SP2 on MacBook Pro was because of a bug in WinXP SP2 CPU power management states.
So apparently the former intel guy who posted here was right and so if we assume that all what he said was right, then he also said that there is not hardware way to be sure that all computer produced are whine free (because of the nature of the components used), but that, by using component of better quality, it can be reduced for the units which are unluckily not whine free.
Considering that thing, it's unlikly that a software update can remove the whine issue without reducing the battery life, and as latest user report seems to indicate that the recents series of MBP have a quieter whine, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PEOPLE WHO DO HAVE A LOUD WHINING MBP TO SEND IT TO APPLE, IN ORDER TO GET THE LOGIC BOARD REPLACED BY A RECENT ONE!

  • What’s the strangest thing about the Java platform?

    Hello All,
In an interview (http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Interviews/bloch_effective_08_qa.html) that I did with Joshua Bloch on java.sun.com, promoting the revised version of “Effective Java”, he discusses generics, enums, annotations, the under-use of Java libraries, the importance of minimizing the accessibility of classes and members and minimizing mutability, and other matters.
To my question: “What’s the strangest thing about the Java platform?” his answer was: “I'm going to say that the strangest thing about the Java platform is that the byte type is signed. I've never heard an explanation for this. It's quite counterintuitive and causes all sorts of errors.”

It is indeed all down to what you need to do with your machine.   Snow leopard is an excellent OS and as Baltwo suggests you have to check out your current apps and programs because PPC won't work on any higher OS than the one you have.
Andy's comment is very interesting and, I suspect, insider knowledge based     Certainly I would wait for Mavericks now it is on the horizon ... and then add six months or so for the bugs to be ironed out.
Good luck, whatever you do.   I'm staying with Snow Leopard.

The system doesn’t recognize or capitalize the word (I) or the first word of every sentence. Another really annoying thing about the integrated mail on your Mac computers is the fact that the system learns the word as you type it more and more instead of highlighting it as incorrectly is this is a word that’s being misspelled. Can Apple fix this bug to make it user friendly as if you were using Office or a Word Document?

    You hit the target CT.
It’s only fair that if Apple is going to integrate Mail into Mac PCs, it would be nice if the system does it for you like Office or perhaps Outlook. I just don’t to use Outlook although I have it installed and ready to use, but instead use Mail which comes with Mac OS already.
I hope to make some sense here.

I doubt that's the reason Apple spent the money on retina displays, but a good observation.

  • Interesting discussion about Oracle RAC

    Hi Pros,
I have 12 servers for database and 2 storages and 2 10Gb switches for interconnect. I organized them into 3 group of servers (RAC dataguard system) that each contains 4 servers where 2 nodes for primary RAC and 2 nodes for standby RAC. Here, 1 storage for primary RACs and 1 storage for strandby RACs (the storage space is divided equally for RACs). Each switch is shared between 3 RAC systems. But later i found out that its recommended that RAC should have dedicated switch.
Now i have to decide if i need to buy 4 more 10Gb switches or i need to reorganize 3 two-node RACs into 1 six-node RAC system (and also 1 six-node RAC standby).
I want to discuss pros and cons of separate RAC systems vs one RAC system in a organization. RAC version is 11.2 and not yet any pluggable DB or Cloud DB.
    Thank you in advance

Thank you for quick and very clear replies.
I wrote false things about the switches. Its my bad. I asked my sysadmin again and there are 4 switches that each have 16 ports. And switches are redundant to storage and interconnect.
    >Shared infrastructure means running multiple RAC databases on a single cluster. This is known as a policy based RAC. You create a RAC with let's say 8 servers. 2 server pools are created (this is the policy based RAC feature). Pool OLAP contains 5 servers. Pool OLTP contains 3 servers. Each pool runs a RAC database.
This sound great to me I knew that i need to research about shared infrastructure and server pools
    >The single biggest cons of using this shared infrastructure approach is that an upgrade/patch affects ALL your RAC databases on the cluster. So you cannot plan separate patch rollouts for OLAP and OLTP for example.
What would be the real need of separating patch? If i need to take down database on upgrade, if separated, i would take down database two database one by one. If shared, i would take down two databases once. To my environment, no difference. (If core database get down, there is no chance to keep working other applications)
My mind is turning to 1 RAC system for entire organization
    >Depending on the switches used, you can consider partitioning of switch ports - create 4 partitions of 12 ports each for example, for 4 RACs. Or separate private subnets can be used. Etc.
I'll take a look this too.
    Thank guys

  • A strange thing about saving files in Mac OS X

I've noticed a strange thing about saving files in Mac OS X.
In the save dialog, you click a folder to save into that folder.
Well, if you accidentally click a file instead of a folder, the name of the document you're saving is changed to the name of that file! Then you have to retype the name, or cancel out of the process and start over.
I don't see why you would want to change the name of the file you're saving to the name of a file that already exists, unless you want to overwrite the existing file (unlikely), but maybe there's a reason for this I'm overlooking.

The Mac OS didn't used to do that. There must have been a lot of requests for it though. Especially from Windows switchers I would imagine, since you've always been able to do that in Windows.
Sometimes I like being able to pick up the a name I do want to replace right from the Save dialogue. Most of the time though, I think it's a dangerous option. I don't know if there's a way to turn that behavior off.

We don't use Cisco prime for network monitoring. I'm interesting and monitoring and alerting on any potential wireless performance or security issues.
Has anyone got any suggestions for interesting things to monitor on a 5508 WLC? We have a range of AP's some of them CleanAir and some older.
We can monitor or alert on specific syslog messages, snmp traps, or snmp gets.
Has anyone got any favorite things the like to monitor?

This is a tough one, specially if you do not have cisco wireless management system (like WCS or Prime)

nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.

I am hearing some not-so-good things about Verizon.  Why aren't I hearing about the new pricing from you?  If I have to pay more than I am now, I will switch providers in December when my contract is up.  I have put my phone as a priority and food on the back burner!!!!!!!!!  Let's hear it from the horse's mouth!!!!

I want information...from Verizon...do you work for them?  I also want to hear from other people about their opinions/questions on the subject...I watch Robyn Meade in the morning and on that news program, they were talking about AT&T and Verizon increasing their charges for data...T-Mobil and Sprint won't be doing that.  They were just warning us...their info is pretty reliable.  I just want to hear it from the horse's mouth and know the truth about what is coming up.  I have found that I have to check on things and double check, so I don't get "half" the info I need to make a good decision.  I am not wealthy, and need to protect my priorities.  I have been satisfied with Verizon service so far...just don't want any surprises.  My contract is due to expire in Dec. so I need to make a decision about what service to use.  I tried using the "chat" this morning and didn't get an answer, just a "link", so I am using all the avenues I can think of to
    get the info I need.
