  • How an array implements an interface?

    Section 5.5 of JLS (dealing with casting conversions) explains something like this:
    When an interface type S is cast to an array type T,
    "then T must implement S, or a compile-time error occurs. "
    I could not understand how an array can be made to implement an interface.
    I guessed it means that the component type of array implements the interface, and prepared the following test code. It doesn't compile.
    interface S{  }
    class C implements S{ }
    class Test {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
         C[] ac = new C[100];
         S s = new C();
         C[] ac1 = (C[])s; //doesn't compile
         System.out.println(ac1.length);
    Would someone open my eyes? Thank you

    dmbdmb Your correction compiled my code. But I was not looking for that, because the corrected code casts an array type to array type. Anyway, thanks.
    jverdYou are the man. Now I got it. Thank you.
    I think I will have to remember your simplified rule (Then S must be Serializable or Cloneable) rather than the JLS' rule. With your rule, I can write a test code like this, which compiles, and which shows that an interface type can be cast to array type.
    import java.awt.Point;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    class Test {
            public static void main(String[] args) {
               Point[] pa = new Point[100]; //any array of reference type
               Serializable s = new String("test");
               Point[] pa1 = (Point[])s; //compiles, though invalid at runtime
    }

  • Big Big Funky Question

    Hey people,
    This might be a stupid question but I'm just wondering what variables in java are initialized to if they are even initialized. Are they initialized and to what? The data types I'm talking about are int,boolean,String,byte,char which are the ones I deal with most.

    Variables don't have default values. Fields do.I thought I held the "Pedant of the Day"? award,
    but I see that I've been usurped... ;o)We must revoke the archivist's award.
    "[JLS section]4.5.3 Kinds of Variables
    There are seven kinds of variables:
    1. A class variable is a field declared using the keyword static within a class declaration (8.3.1.1), or with or without the keyword static within an interface declaration (9.3). A class variable is created when its class or interface is prepared (12.3.2) and is initialized to a default value (4.5.5). The class variable effectively ceases to exist when its class or interface is unloaded (12.7).
    2. An instance variable is a field declared within a class declaration without using the keyword static (8.3.1.1). If a class T has a field a that is an instance variable, then a new instance variable a is created and initialized to a default value (4.5.5) as part of each newly created object of class T or of any class that is a subclass of T (8.1.3). The instance variable effectively ceases to exist when the object of which it is a field is no longer referenced, after any necessary finalization of the object (12.6) has been completed.
    3. Array components are unnamed variables that are created and initialized to default values (4.5.5) whenever a new object that is an array is created (15.10). The array components effectively cease to exist when the array is no longer referenced. See 10 for a description of arrays.
    4. Method parameters (8.4.1) name argument values passed to a method. For every parameter declared in a method declaration, a new parameter variable is created each time that method is invoked (15.12). The new variable is initialized with the corresponding argument value from the method invocation. The method parameter effectively ceases to exist when the execution of the body of the method is complete.
    5. Constructor parameters (8.8.1) name argument values passed to a constructor. For every parameter declared in a constructor declaration, a new parameter variable is created each time a class instance creation expression (15.9) or explicit constructor invocation (8.8.5) invokes that constructor. The new variable is initialized with the corresponding argument value from the creation expression or constructor invocation. The constructor parameter effectively ceases to exist when the execution of the body of the constructor is complete.
    6. An exception-handler parameter is created each time an exception is caught by a catch clause of a try statement (14.19). The new variable is initialized with the actual object associated with the exception (11.3, 14.17). The exception-handler parameter effectively ceases to exist when execution of the block associated with the catch clause is complete.
    7. Local variables are declared by local variable declaration statements (14.4). Whenever the flow of control enters a block (14.2) or for statement (14.13), a new variable is created for each local variable declared in a local variable declaration statement immediately contained within that block or for statement. A local variable declaration statement may contain an expression which initializes the variable. The local variable with an initializing expression is not initialized, however, until the local variable declaration statement that declares it is executed. (The rules of definite assignment (16) prevent the value of a local variable from being used before it has been initialized or otherwise assigned a value.) The local variable effectively ceases to exist when the execution of the block or for statement is complete."

  • How we enter 3 decimals num for an activity

    Dear all,
    in a kilometer survey project , after confirmation when i filled the activity by CN25 , system not picking the decimal point , but when we changed the decimal places rounding  0 to 2 by CUNI  tcode , then system picked the 2 decimal point and when we changed its 0 to 3 , then system not picked 3 decimal point ..so how can we enter 3 decimal point num..???
    and in 2 decimal data its taking round off of num.? so how we remove round off system?
    give me some solution for it.

    Hi Sanjani,
    The Order Save BADI is the rigtht place to implement your own validations / checks / changes at the moment of "SAVE".
    So most of your requirements will be possible to implement with the given interfaces:
    - CHANGE_BEFORE_UPDATE
    - PREPARE
    - CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE
    In our scenario we use CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE. It is in our scenario not allowed to save if there are still "red" error messages.
    To create your activity you could use CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN.
    Good luck.
    Kind regards
    Manfred

  • Mass Additions Interface - cannot open prepare mass additions

    Hi ,
    We have loaded assets details to Mass Additions Interface using ODI, but we cannot open the prepare mass additions window in the applcations.
    When I checked it has all the details when compaired with an asset loaded to the interface with WebADi EXCEPT the MASS_ADDITION_ID,( CAN IT BE THE ISSUE)
    what could have been the reason for this type of thing?
    Thanks and Regards,
    MPH

    Hi,
    I believe you need to define another table which maps the Old Category ID with New one. Use ODI to map the Data and this Temp table to Mass additions.

  • Keeping an oft-redrawn interface interactive by preparing drawing in thread

    Hi!
    I require rapid updates (say, every 0.1 s) to several UIViews which reflect the state of constantly-changing model objects. Doing the updates on the main thread blocks the interface pretty quickly, so I tried to move the main drawing code to a thread which renders to an image, which is then drawn later on the main thread.
    I'm getting EXCBADACCESS errors on -\[UIImage drawAtPoint:\], however.
    CGSize size = \[self frame\].size;
    UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size);
    UIImage *img = \[UIImage imageNamed:@"MyImage.png"\];
    [img drawAtPoint:CGPointZero]; // EXCBADACCESS here
    And the backtrace:
    #0 0x3104ee65 in CGSBlendBGRA8888toARGB8888 ()
    #1 0x31186b49 in rgba32_image ()
    #2 0x00560e12 in ripl_Mark ()
    #3 0x00563328 in ripl_BltImage ()
    #4 0x0054e9d1 in ripc_RenderImage ()
    #5 0x0055d997 in ripc_DrawImage ()
    #6 0x30fef3f5 in CGContextDrawImage ()
    #7 0x30a676ba in -\[UIImage drawInRect:blendMode:alpha:\] ()
    #8 0x30a65013 in -\[UIImage drawAtPoint:blendMode:alpha:\] ()
    #9 0x30a64f92 in -\[UIImage drawAtPoint:\] ()
    I also noticed that I'm sometimes getting EXCBADACCESS on the main thread, in unrelated drawing code. It would appear that the creation of the image context is app-global, and causing trouble for other drawing routines.
    So, my question is this: What's the accepted solution to keep an interface interactive, while providing frequent view updates? If I was writing an OS X app, I'd do the above, using -\[NSImage lockFocus\] and -\[NSImage unlockFocus\]. No joy here, though!
    It seems my only path at this point is to do the compositing manually, with the underying char arrays of the bitmap images. That's nasty, though.
    Many thanks in advance

    I'm not reading that either, but to help you for next time:
    - use more than 1 sentence to describe your problem
    - only post the RELEVANT code, or a small test program with the same problem if possible.
    At least you formatted it, I'll give you that.
    Cheers,
    Radish21
    PS. I think in this case, posting another (better worded) thread might be a good idea, because no one is going to read this one. In general though, don't :)

  • Prepare an usb thumb drive, to boot windows 7 or 8 in UEFI mode

    Purpose of this post:
    Prepare an usb thumb drive, to boot windows 7 in UEFI mode and install the system in pure UEFI mode.
    Why am I writing this:
    I had a hard time finding out how to make a custom installation of windows 7 in pure UEFI mode, and avoid using the factory restore disks. After hours of research, experiments etc I finally got the point and found a solution. And I'm happy to share my research with you. I hope this will be of help. If something is not clear, or more information is needed, I will be glad to explain things further.
    History:
    As most of you already know, BIOS was developed for PC in early eighties and has remained unchanged in recent years. But, since 2000, Intel started working on a new firmware interface, called Extensible Firmware Interface, abbreviated EFI. And since 2005 United EFI Forum has been handling the responsibility for development, management and promotion of UEFI specifications. Bigger companies like Intel, AMD, Microsoft and Dell have already started to bring out their products in accordance to UEFI standards which has more stable, secure and easier to use interface.
    How does UEFI works (in a nutshell):
    Once you power on the UEFI based PC, the Pre-EFI is executed which initializes only the CPU, memory and the chipset. This followed by Driver Execution Environment (DEX) where other hardware is initialized.
    Advantages of UEFI:
        It can integrate various drivers this will not require to load during booting so saves time.
        PC can connect to network without OS.
        Also integrated drivers allow rendering GUI based control panel which out dates the old school bluish BIOS screen.
        Not all the installed hard drives are scanned as boot drive is set during the installation of OS in UFFI.
        Applications like anti-virus and diagnostic tools can be stored on virtually any non-volatile storage devices attached to a PC.
    For a system to boot and install in UEFI the partition table of the HDD should be GPT (GUID Partition Table), not the old school MBR (master boot record). GPT has many advantages, can have virtually an unlimited number of partitions (windows will allow only 128) and impressively big partitions.
    Since UEFI has a lot of advantages why not having a system install and boot in UEFI mode? AFAIK new Lenovo notebooks/netbooks are UEFI capable and OS’s are already installed in pure UEFI mode.
    So, let’s go now to the point. Do you want to have more control over your HDD? Let say, you have a 320GB HDD and you have divided it in two partitions, one of 50GB, for your Windows 7, and the remaining for your data. If something goes wrong and you need to restore your system to factory default, with the recovery disks, it will wipe your partition scheme, set the system to default and this way your data will be lost.
    You may want to make a “vanilla” installation of windows from a USB thumb drive and avoid using factory recovery disks. Now here things get complicated. A standard preparation of the USB with Microsoft’s software (Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool), or other tools, will give you a bios installation, not a UEFI one. So for the system to boot, you will need to change some settings in bios, and changing it from UEFI to legacy bios. The installation will prepare the HDD in MBR partition table, and you will lose all the advantages of UEFI, described above.
    Now this can be avoided, by properly preparing an USB to boot and install in UEFI mode. Here are the steps:
    Step by step tutorial:
    1.    In a windows computer, download a legal copy (although trial) of the windows 7 os. You can do this from here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
    Be sure to download the same version that came preinstalled in your computer. For example, if you have a Lenovo x120e, with a Windows 7 professional, 64bit, download an iso image of the Windows 7 professional 64bit.
    2.    Once downloaded burn the iso to a USB thumb (at least 4GB) using Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.
    3.    After preparing this, create a folder on your computer, name it whatever (i.e. W7pro64bit). Go to the root of your USB
    and select all the files and folders there (9 in total) copy, and paste to your folder you created, W7pro64bit.
    4.    Using windows format the usb again in FAT32. Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool, formats it in NTFS. We need a FAT32 formatted disk to achieve our goal. Formating again the USB in FAT32 will not touch the MBR of the USB thumbdrive. And after copying back the files (see step 6) the USB will still be bootable. (nice, and simple, isn't it?)
    5.    Now go to the folder W7pro64bit and do the following:
    a.    Browse to W7pro64bit\sources\ and open install.wim file. It’s a big file, and can be opened as an archive with 7zip (free software). Do not extract it, do not modify it, just browse the file with 7zip. Just to be sure you do not mess with that file, you can copy it somewhere else in your computer, and than procede.
    b.    Browse this file (install.wim) to \1\Windows\Boot\EFI\ and locate the file bootmgfw.efi. Do not move, delete it, but just drag that file to the desktop. (if you have copied the file install.wim to another place in your computer, than you are safely do whatever you want with that file ) Close the 7zip program to release the install.wim file.
    c.    Rename the file you just copied to the desktop from bootmgfw.efi to bootx64.efi.
    d.    Now go back to w7pro64bit folder and browse \efi\Microsoft. Form there copy the folder boot and paste it one level up, on the folder: \efi. It will look like this: \efi\boot.
    e.    Now copy the file you saved on your desktop and renamed (bootx64.efi) to \efi\boot (inside the boot folder you copied on step 5d
    6.    Now go to the root of the folder W7pro64bit and select all folders and files (9 in total) copy, and paste all those files back to your USB thumb drive. (see step 4 for more info)
    7.    Go to the computer that you are going to reinstall, and before restarting it, use the program ABR (activation backup and restore) to backup the license of your windows os. (use google to find ABR). Advanced Tokens Manager (ATM ) is great too. This link may be of help: Backup and restore W7 activation. After the program finishes its magic, it will create a few files inside the folder where the program itself reside. Copy these files to a new folder in your usb.  Rename it to ABR so you will quickly find it later. (if you decide to use ATM, the procedure may be a little different. But you are smart enough to figure out how to use it)
    8.    Backup to an external storage all your data before continuing.(reminder: are you sure you saved the license as explained in step 7, to a safe place? To a external drive, to another computer? If you are sure, than go on with step 9)
    9.    Now restart your laptop, and enter your bios settings. Go to the boot settings, and set the computer to boot in UEFI only. Not both, not UEFI first, or legacy, BUT UEFI only. Save and restart.
    10.    Press f12 (or the corresponding key for your machine) to choose the boot device and chose to start from the USB thumb drive with your windows 7 pro 64 bit.
    11.    If everything is done correctly, your computer will boot from the USB.
    12.    Follow the wizard and choose a custom install, not upgrade. At the disk partition window delete all the partition you see there until you have only one unallocated space.
    13.    Select it, and click next to install windows, without making partition in this point. The installer will create a GPT partition table not a MBR since the USB booted in UEFI mode.
    14.    Immediately after the first restart remove your USB thumb, and the installation will continue from the HDD. Wait until installation finishes.
    15.    When you will be finally on your desktop, on the installed OS plug your USB go to the ABR folder and click on restore.exe. It will restore your license and your copy of windows will be activated.
    16.    Now you can go in computer management/disk management and shrink the HDD to create your partitioning scheme. Make sure to leave enough space to your windows os. (30gb or more for extra programs you will install at your choice)
    17.      Download from lenovo.com thinkvantage system update and update your system. Windows update too can install all the necessary drivers, if you need only  basic drivers support.
    Note: if tvsu will fail to work, see this:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/ThinkVantage-System-Update-Servers-down-the-wh...
    It may look a looong tutorial, but once you do this for the first time, it will look a piece of cake.
    Final words:
    From now on, you can install windows 7 in UEFI mode with your special USB without changing your partition scheme anymore. If you have a data partition beside your os partition (see the example above), when you reinstall the system using your USB thumb drive, at the disk partition window chose the partition where windows is installed, delete it, and reinstall windows to the unformatted area. Your partition with your data will be intact and the installation will automatically mount your data partition to the system. And, all the scope of this procedure, you will always have a pure UEFI installation of the system, with all its benefits.
    Have fun!

    Thank you, as I noted here, your post was the key to my getting a Windows 8 SecureBooting setup on a W530.
    In the case of Windows 8, I needed to copy the files away, reformat my USB key as FAT32 and copy the files back, and viola I was able to boot from my USB install media with the BIOS set to only boot UEFI.  From there, there rest was easy (for Windows 8, the copying and renaming is not necessary, the key is having a FAT32 partition on the USB media, rather than an NTFS one; the EFI files are already in the right location).
    Thank you again good sir.
    You are welcome... and I'm happy that the change of the file system helps with windows 8 too. Thanks for confirming that.

  • How do I handle NULL returns from prepared statement?

    Thanks in advance to all those who respond. As a beginner with Java/JSP/JDBC, I need all the help I can get!
    Here's the problem...
    I'm using a prepared statement in JSP to query a MySQL database.
    If there is a value to return, everything works properly.
    If the query returns a NULL (empty set) value, I get the following error:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Before start of result set
    Here's the code (no negative comments please...I know I'm violating some conventions! I'll restructure it later. Right now I just need help with handling the NULL case):
    <%
    Driver DriverAppt = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_test_DRIVER).newInstance();
    Connection ConnAppt = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_test_STRING,MM_test_USERNAME,MM_test_PASSWORD);PreparedStatement StatementAppt = ConnAppt.prepareStatement("SELECT lastname FROM appts_pid1 WHERE user_id = " + Recordset1__MMColParam + " AND year = " + yy + " AND month = '" + months[mm] + "' AND date = " + dates[dd] + " AND appttime = '16:15:00'");
    ResultSet Appt = StatementAppt.executeQuery();
    boolean Appt_isEmpty = !Appt.first();
    boolean Appt_hasData = !Appt_isEmpty;
    Object Appt_data;
    int Appt_numRows = 0;
    %>
    Thanks for the help!!!

    I think I have a better handle on what's occurring here. To cut to the heart of the problem, I'm going to give a very simple example that illustrates what type of error handling I need.
    HERE'S THE EXAMPLE:
    Let's say that I have a database of users. There are only two columns in the database: user_id and lastname. There are only 2 users, user_id "1" has lastname "Jones" and user_id "2" has lastname "Smith".
    I built a very simple web interface that let's a user enter a number to see if there's a lastname associated with that record. The user has no way of knowing if the user_id exists or not, so they may or may not enter a valid number.
    If the user enters a valid user_id (in this case "1" or "2"), then the correct lastname is displayed. If the user enters an invalid user_id (in this case, anything other than "1" or "2") then I get the same "Before start of result set" error that I'm getting in my real application.
    So, the question is: WHERE IN THIS CODE WOULD I HANDLE THE RETURN OF AN EMPTY SET?
    The goal here is to have the sentence say "The user's lastname is .", basically returning null. If there has to be a value, then have the last sentence say "The user's lastname is unknown."
    If you can solve this simple example, you'll have also solved the problem with my main application!!!! :-)
    Here's the example code:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" language="java" import="java.sql.*" errorPage="" %>
    <%@ include file="Connections/example.jsp" %>
    <%
    String Recordset1__MMColParam = "1";
    if (request.getParameter("user_id") !=null) {Recordset1__MMColParam = (String)request.getParameter("user_id");}
    %>
    <%
    Driver DriverRecordset1 = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_example_DRIVER).newInstance();
    Connection ConnRecordset1 = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_example_STRING,MM_example_USERNAME,MM_example_PASSWORD);
    PreparedStatement StatementRecordset1 = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement("SELECT * FROM test_table WHERE user_id = " + Recordset1__MMColParam + "");
    ResultSet Recordset1 = StatementRecordset1.executeQuery();
    boolean Recordset1_isEmpty = !Recordset1.next();
    boolean Recordset1_hasData = !Recordset1_isEmpty;
    Object Recordset1_data;
    int Recordset1_numRows = 0;
    %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    </head>
    <body>
    <form action="test.jsp" method="get" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" name="form1" target="_self">
    <p> Submit a user id and a lastname will be displayed.</p>
    <p>
    <input type="text" name="user_id">
    <input type="submit" name="" value="Submit">
    </p>
    </form>
    <p>The User's lastname is <%=(((Recordset1_data = Recordset1.getObject("lastname"))==null || Recordset1.wasNull())?"":Recordset1_data)%>.</p>
    </body>
    </html>
    <%
    Recordset1.close();
    StatementRecordset1.close();
    ConnRecordset1.close();
    %>
    A huge "THANK YOU!!!!" to all those who've helped me here!!!

    I prepare chronologies in word, and I am trying to do the same in pages using tables and cells. As far as I know, Apple is free to choose to offer this or that feature.
    They never said that they want to clone Word or even compete with it.
    Differences between tables in both worlds are numerous.
    In Pages (or Numbers)
    - we can't sort a single column
    - we can't sort by row
    - we can't insert or remove a single cell
    - a cell can't cross pages boundaries
    If I understand well these design choices match :

    Apple Human Interface Guidelines:
    Apply the 80 Percent Solution
    During the design process, if you discover problems with your product design, you might consider applying the 80 percent solution‚ that is, designing your software to meet the needs of at least 80 percent of your users. This type of design typically favors simpler, more elegant approaches to problems.
    If you try to design for the 20 percent of your target audience who are power users, your design may not be usable by the other 80 percent of users. Even though that smaller group of power users is likely to have good ideas for features, the majority of your user base may not think in the same way. Involving a broad range of users in your design process can help you find the 80 percent solution.

  • Interfaces validations

    Hi ,
    As far as i know , Validations are an integral part of interfaces.
    Can anybody send me the basic validations that need to be performed on the following interfaces. I need to prepare a HLD for the same.
    1) Journal Import Interface
    2) Customer Interface
    3) Purchasing Open Interface
    4)PO REceipts interface
    5) Supplier Interface
    It would be great if someone forwards me the necessary information.
    Regards

    hi.....
    according to my knowledge in customer interface :
    Check if legacy values fetched are valid.
    Check if customer address site is already created.
    Check if customer site use is already created.
    Check is customer header is already created.
    Check whether the ship_to_site has associated bill_to_site
    Check whether associated bill_to_site is created or not.
    Profile amounts validation:
    Validate cust_account_id, validate customer status.
    Check if the location already exists in HZ_LOCATIONS. If does not exist, create new location.
    in Purchasing :
    Header:
    Check if OU name is valid
    Check if Supplier is valid
    Check if Supplier site is valid
    Check if buyer is valid
    Check if Payment term is valid
    Check if Bill to and ship to are valid
    Check if FOB, freight terms are valid
    Lines:
    Check if Line_type, ship_to_org, item, uom, ship_to_location_id, requestor, charge_account, deliver_to_location are valid
    General:
    Check for duplicate records in interface tables
    Check if the record already exists in base tables.
    and in Journl Import :
    Validate SOB, journal source name, journal category name, actual flag
    A – Actual amounts
    B – Budget amounts
    E – Encumbrance amount
    If you enter E in the interface table, then enter appropriate encumbrance ID, if B enter budget id.
    Check if accounting date or GL date based period name is valid (i.e., not closed).
    Check if accounting date falls in open or future open period status.
    Check chart of accounts id based on Sob id.
    Check if code combination is valid and enabled.
    Check if record already exists in GL interface table.
    Check if already journal exists in GL application.

  • Stuck po receipts in interface tables in R12

    Hi,
    I have to prepare a query, this query will used for an Oracle Alert. requirement is as below.
    when ever stuck po receipts in interface table, we need to send an alert tp Buyers. please let me know how to achieve this.
    what are all the join conditions between RCV_TRANSACTIONS_INTERFACE,RCV_HEADERS_INTERFACE, PO_Headers_all andPO_Lines_all tables.
    Thought of using above tables to build the query. if i am missing any other tables please provide those to complete this task.
    Many Thanks.

    I think you have covered it all.
    Just add PO_VENDORS and PO_VENDOR_SITES views to get the supplier and site name/codes.

  • General questions on IDOCs and IDOCs for 2 Accounting Interface BAPIs

    This post involves several questions pertaining to the topic of IDOC creation. I downloaded a couple of PDFs and tried googling for material on that, but things are far from being clear in my mind.
    I tried to put my questions in some order, so we can follow a line of reasoning. Here we go, then:
    I have one code where I there are calls to 2 BAPIs:
    - BAPI_ACC_ACT_POSTINGS_REVERSE and
    - BAPI_ACC_GL_POSTING_REV_POST
    I am supposed to prepare/create an IDOC to perform the activities these BAPIs are responsible for, for the sole purpose of providing us much more details on the activities being executed in the system - this is one of the IDOC's features, if I got it right, its highly detailed logging of everything that is going on behind.
    Now, the 1st question arises:
    From the material I read, I understood that IDOCs are nothing more than data containers, whose sole purpose is to provide a means of communication between two different systems/parties - one of them would usually be SAP. If this is right, than what sort of IDOC would be this one I am supposed to build - if there's not going to be any inter-system communication ? Doesn't it sound strange that pure "data containers" can work as "logging functions" ? Please share some light here.
    The 2nd question - after I understand what an IDOC really is - is
    then connected to the job I have to do. I found 2 IDOCs which I think have the proper/correspondent basic types for the 2 aforementioned BAPIs. They are, respectively:
    - ACC_DOCUMENT_REVERSE01 and
    - ACC_GL_POSTING_REVERSE01
    Getting back to my understanding of IDOCs, I got that every IDOC is generally made of one control record, data record(s), and status record(s). 3rd question: Where do the segments fit in ? Are the segments definitions of the Data Records ? And why is it that some IDOC types have header segments only and others doesn't have one ? (header segments are not the same as control records, right ?)
    Finally, what is the general process flow for creating/preparing an IDOC ? I looked over a couple of forum posts about this but some of them differ one from another in the order of the steps, some don't mention this or that step, so I am still confused.
    4th and last question: what comes first ? The definition of a partner, the bonding of a message type with an IDOC basic type, definitions of the inbound/outbound interfaces ?
    Any help here would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Avraham

    Hi Jaya,
    Answer 1. Class is a template for creating objects. Object can also be called as instance.
    Interfaces allow you to use different classes in a uniform way (polymorphism).
    Answer 2. Normal abap is a procedural programming where as by using abap objects we can achieve object oriented programing.
    Answer 6. Source code:
    In below code i have created a interface and a class which is implementing the interface. I have declared a reference variable of type interface and created a object. Then i have called a method.
    REPORT  ZABAPOBJECTS_INTERF.
          INTERFACE I1
    INTERFACE I1.
      METHODS METH1.
    ENDINTERFACE.                    "I1
          CLASS C1 DEFINITION
    CLASS C1 DEFINITION.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        METHODS: METH2.
        INTERFACES: I1.
    ENDCLASS.                    "C1 DEFINITION
          CLASS C1 IMPLEMENTATION
    CLASS C1 IMPLEMENTATION.
      METHOD I1~METH1.
        WRITE: / 'This is a method one'.
      ENDMETHOD.                                                "I1~METH1
      METHOD METH2.
        WRITE: / 'This is a method two'.
      ENDMETHOD.                                                "METH2
    ENDCLASS.                    "C1 IMPLEMENTATION
    START-OF-SELECTION.
      DATA : REF1 TYPE REF TO I1.
      CREATE OBJECT REF1 TYPE C1.
      CALL METHOD REF1->METH1.
    Question 7: Yes we need to create a class but most probably we use the existing classes.

  • How do I use report RSWUWFML2 'Preparation Exit'

    Hello,
    I have to send a mail notification to external email address for some workflow tasks, we have the requirement to send a url to the portal in the mail body, to achieve this we have had some problems that I will comment:
    First of all we tried to create a dialog text from SE61, with a command inside like this:
    /:if &syst-sysid = 'DE1'
         https://portal.d.domain.com
    /:elseif &syst-sysid = 'QE1'
         https://portal.q.domain.com
    /:endif
    The result after running program RSWUWFML2 is a mail with the two urls, what means  that the command are not being executed and only the text lines are left.
    The second solution that we are trying to implement is to use the "Preparation Exit" that is described in OSS note 808971, this exit consist in a FM without any interface that is used to prepare some variables to be used in SE61 texts.
    I have tried searching google, SDN, help.sap.com, OSS notes to try to know how to implement this exit but there is no global data defined at RSWUWFML2 to allow this, and a local variable in the FM is not later seen when text of SE61 is rendered.
    So my questions are, has anybody implemented sucessfully this exit? could I use it to pass the URL as a parameter to get it in the sent email? Do you have any other suggestions?
    I would avoid using extended notification due tu a restriction in the workflow design.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
    This a simple program you confused more, Do the following to solve you problem.
    1) In the Std. program RSWUWFML2 your customized url can not be sent. So  Copy the std. Program to a Custom program (e.g. ZRSWUWFML2)
    2) In the Program this program , there is "FORM send_messages"   , there only the content of the mail will available.
    3) Here you modify the content & subject of the email as per your requirement. And Give your custom message and your url (e.g.  https://portal.d.domain.com)
    4) Then put it the background, as shown in this [Link|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/moH8B].

    here i have mentioned the steps which i followed for creating agent service.
    i have two machine namely A and B both having the ODI
    i am going to use the B machine as a centralized server. so i edited the odiparams.bat file in B machine in ODI locaiton and filled the repository information
    from A machine i opened the Topology and created the Agent service there i mentioned the HOST name as "B" and port number 20300. and i configure the logical agent aswell
    from B machine i started the Agent service like agentscheduler "-port=20300".
    Agent service launched seccessfully.
    From A machine i tested the Agent. that also shown the successful window message.
    then i started running the interface using the agent i am getting the error which i have mention in the beginging.
    Interface which i ran will do the text file to table loading, so i kept that file in particular location in B machine( i have configure this location when i created the file data store in topology in A machine).
    Please help me to solve the problem...
