Interface/Functional Differences between EPM Planning 11.1.1.3 & 11.1.2.2.

We are considering a migration from Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 and have found lots of documentation describing the technical exercise but little on the functional differences between the two products that would be of more interest to our users.
Q1. Will 11.1.2.2 appear to our users as fundamentally a different product requiring retraining, changes to business procedures etc?
Q2. Is there any documentation out there that compares the functionality and 'look' of the two releases that I have missed and that would help?
Thanks.

You could have a look at the cumulative feature tool which highlights functionality additions between versions by product - https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1092114.1
It is probably worth setting up a quick 11.1.2.3 POC planning instance to have a look at the new version of planning to see whether you feel that additional training will be required - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_planning_rapid_deploy_1112200.pdf, the main change is the look and feel with the ADF functionality the concept of planning has not changed, the ADF functionality can be switched off if you want to revert back to the old style.

  • Functionality differences between Principal Toolbox & Ms Projects 2010

    Hi there,
I'm looking for some advise about the functionality differences between Principle Toolbox (planning module) & MS Projects 2010.
Currently I'm working at an IT company where my project managers use MS Projects 2010 to plan their activities for their projects.
My management wants to know what the differences in functionality are between the two programs. I'm not looking for answers like "different GUI", but (for example) I would like to know what functionalities can you use with MS Projects and can not
    use with the Pincipal toolbox.
I hope someone, who has experience with both programs, can give me some good advise.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I've never worked with Principle Toolbox but here are 2 interesting comparisons which you might already know:
    http://project-management-software.findthebest-sw.com/compare/3-21/Microsoft-Project-vs-Principal-Toolbox
    http://www.itqlick.com/index.php?module=Products&pname=internalcompare&prod1=112&prod2=2395
I think the main concern should be that Principle toolbox doesn't offer a cloud solution.
    Hope this helps,

  • Whats the functional difference between CUA and UME?

    Hi All,
A small query regarding UME (User Management Engine) and CUA ( Central User Administration). Whats the functional difference between these two. I read in help documents that UME will be used for SAP WebAS Java server. But I read that it can be used for ABAP engine as well. Then why do we need to use CUA when we have user friendly interface tool like UME. According to my knowledge from help documentation, UME comes pre installed. so we dont need to install it as we have to do for CUA.
Can any help me in understanding the difference between these two. Thanks in advance. Good day.
    Regards,
    Farooq.

    Hi,
    Indeed good question.
It depends on installation type you selected. But are responsible for user administration in terms of creating, deleting, updating and role assignment tasks to users and groups.
--CUA is meant for ABAP Installation. CUA is responsible for entire landscape user administration works with RFC connection talking to all ABAP systems
--UME is meant for Java installations, plus UME is responsible for handling communication between ABAP users and java users.
    UME
For more details see below links all advantages and disadvantages of both systems and comparisons deliberately.

  • What are the functional differences between the iPhone and the iPod Touch, barring of course the differences in service requirements.

What are the functional differences between the iPhone and the iPod Touch, barring of course the differences in service requirements.

For one, their form factors are slightly different as the iPhone has a bit more squarish body whereas the iPod Touch has a tapered back to it.
The iPhone also has much better front and rear cameras. Exact details as to the difference in megapixels depends on whether or not you talking about the iPhone 4 or 4S.  If you would like to get more details, you can always view
each models specs on Apple's online store.

  • Whats the functional difference between user IDs SAP* and DDIC?

Whats the functional difference between SAP* and DDIC? Can any one tell me please. I am new here. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Farooq,
There are three user IDs in various SAP clients.
    1. SAP* (Client 000 and 001)
SAP* denotes the default super user and has all administrative powers.
    2. DDIC (Client 000 and 001)
DDIC user is responsible for the maintenance of the ABAP/4 Dictionary and the software logistics.
    3. EarlyWatch (Client 066)
The EarlyWatch user has access only to monitoring and performance data.
Please check this link for more information on data dictionary objects.

  • Functional difference between Blackberry and Internet Browser on the device

    Hello:
Based on the following link, I understand the difference between the Blackberry and Internet browser (http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-general-discussion/2815-difference-between-brow...
I was wondering if there are any functional difference between the two, i.e. HTML rendering, images being broken, etc. Under Browser -> Options -> Browser Configuration, If I configure both the Blackberry and Internet browser the same way, will a particular URL behave the same?
I'm in the process of testing our mobile applications on different devices and would appreciate if you could provide the difference, if any between the 2 browsers.
    Thanks:
    Vishal

    Hey vishalt77,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
All BlackBerry smartphones will have Internet Browser for browsing the web.
However if you're on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you get the BlackBerry Browser which enables you to access internal websites and secured websites.

  • What is the basic difference between Hyperion Planning and HFM

    Hi GURU'S,
what is the basic difference between Hyperion Planning and HFM and when do we choose them.

On a high level the difference is this:
    1. HFM is best for global collection (collecting data from scattered entities), group consolidation and for easily structuring financial reporting (mainly consisting of financial data)
    2. Planning is best for modeling your business, starting from a demand forecast and arriving to capacity planning and finally to financial statements, by utilizing business drivers (non-financial data like volumes, prices, productivity rates etc)
Of course, differences may be analyzed at several levels down to technical, but the discussion may turn out to be too long, yet adding little value to the question: "when do we choose the one over the other". Bear in mind that your requirements may turn out that you need both.

  • What is major difference between hyperion planning and hyperion essbase

    hi
what is the differences between hyperion planning and hyperion essbase.i dont know about planning much.but as far i know.i think we can do every thing in essbase also(planning, budgeting and forecasting)
what u say.what we actually do in planning.
    regards
    bharat

    Hi Bharat
Although as you mention in your post Essbase can do plans/budgets etc it may not be simple to provide complex planning process control and ease of data entry etc.
Planning delivers these benefits and some through web delivered components such as forms, business rules and workflow for instance. There are some restrictions to using planning and these need tobe well understood before embarking on a project.
It would be worth having a look at product sheets from Oracle and/or presentations from various events to get a feel for planning capabilities.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between snp planned order and pp/ds planned order

    Hi to all,
can any one please explain the difference between snp planned order and pp/ds planned order. I am relatively new to this area

The primary differences are as below.
    1. The master data for SNP Planned Order is SNP PPM/PDS where the minimum duration for an operation is a day. So it is used for rough cut capacity planning.
The master data for PPDS Planned Order is a PPDS PPM/PDS where operations are down to minute and second level. Moreover sequence dependent operation planning is possible in PPDS Planned Orders. It is for detailed capacity planning.
    2. SNP Planned Orders are created in SNP while PPDS Planned Orders are created in PPDS or when transferred from ERP to APO.
    3. SNP Planned Order need to be converted to a PPDS Planned Order before it can be used in the Execution System (ERP) for further processing - like conversion to Production Order. Moreover the category types of the orders are different in APO (EE for SNP and AI for PPDS).
    Hope this helps.
