Interface help please

Hello,
Am logic 7.1- PM g5 user.
Earlier I got some good advice from Rohan (on this group) and have narrowed my choice of an audio interface down to RME fireface or Metro Halo. He also ofilled in another I had about recording from them. So, now just to choose one device in particular. I am using m-audio now -1814 and have no compatibility issues. WOuld like to keep that but want to upgrade the unit primarily for better converters.
So, please any suggestions based on knowledge or experience will help greatly.

MH stuff is really good, if you need alot of gain from a 2882 it will get noisy. I have little problems on recordings with high SPLs (like drum kits)-converters, support and drivers are all great. No complaints. ULN2 is the same conversion with great pres. Can't go wrong with either unit, IMO. I love their portability and sound. Think of them as a RME/Motu traveler. If mobility is no issue then RME would typically be the better choice.

I need help please !!!!!
I have PSE 6 for my imac and bought myself a NIKON D60 so far so good. I have installed PSE 6 which comes with ADOBE Bridge CS3
I have bought a book as well as I am new to photoshop and in fact DSLR cameras.
I have got my photos into Bridge OK by the way they are JPEG format. According to the book I can open the JPEG in camera RAW by either selecting the JPEG and then pressing cmd+R or by selecting the JPEG and select open with and camera RAW should be available to selct.
I cannot get of the options to work any ideas please
Secondly I have taken some photos in RAW format and put then into Bridge again I cannot get the camera RAW interface to open with these neff images.
If I try to open the image PSE 6 opens and gives me an error that the file format is not supported by PSE 6
Am I missing something here as I have been trying for a week now !!!!!

There's no "theory" about it. You should be able to open a raw file from bridge by double-clicking it, but it will open in ACR in PSE. You can't just use ACR within bridge in PSE, if that's what you're trying to do. To open a JPEG in ACR, go to file>Open in PSE and choose Camera raw as the format after you select the file but before you click Open.
If you've correctly updated ACR, bridge should show you thumbnails of your raw files. If it doesn't try emptying the Bridge cache.

Firewire Port not working, URGENT help please¡¡¡

Hello People, i´ve just got a new Mac Mini last week, and i´ve been trying to get my Alesis MasterControl audio interface, and is just a complete mess.
This happened right after i´ve upgraded to 10.8.3 so i don´t know, the weird thing is that if i connect my old iBook to the Mac Mini the FW800 port works, but everytime i connect the audio interface, nothing happens, also the drivers from alesis, are up to date. i first thought about the port of the Mixer went bad, but it has 2 and non of them works, also thought about the cable but the same cable works when i connect my iBook, and the mixer is not bus powered, it has it´s own power supply.
Needless to say i´ve already done the usual reset PRAM, turn of the Mac unplugged for 30 hour to reset the bus. etc.

For starters, please make sure that you have the most current version of Reader installed by choosing Help > Check for Updates.

Live Drive II help please

Li've Dri've II help pleases I bought a SB Li've 5. and a Li've Dri've II several years ago.
I recently tried to add the LD II to my current system.
I am using a Audigy 2 Gamer ZS in my system.
I can not seem to get the LD II to work (I'm trying to get audio imported through the RCA jacks to rip to MP3 from vinyl).
I think my problem is that I am missing the Li'veWare disk that originally came with the LD.
I've looked everywhere on the creative site and I can not find Li'veWare to download. Nor can I find anywhere to even call a tech support number to talk to creative about getting another disk containing the Li'veWare drivers.
I am running WinXP and could use any help or suggestions, since I'd really love to convert some of my old albums to MP3 so that I can listen to them again.

The Li've! Dri've II is not compatible with the Audigy 2. Changes in the card required that changes be made to the interface between the card and dri've.

UIX DataObjects - some help please

I'm doing some interesting things with DataObjects and don't understand why something's happening and would like some help please. An explanation is needed first. Rather than physically delete anything from our system and have all the problems of referential integrity we have a status associated with 'entities' either active or inactive. Some of the things which have this status are foreign keys in other entities my example is a Brand which has a BrandType. My problem is that by default when populating e.g. a choice list our services will only provide 'active items'. However, using my example, if I want to update a Brand that has a foreign key to an inactive BrandType, I want the inactive BrandType to appear in the list. I have an EJB service which provides the list of BrandTypes and whose interface allows for the specification of an 'id' to be included. I have a DataObject stored on the pageState (currentBrand below) which contains this id and I want to pass this 'id' as a parameter to another DataObject which actually returns the DataObjectList of BrandTypes to populate the choice list. With me so far? Hope so! This DataObject is also part of the 'currentBrand' DataObject stored on pageState (brandTypes@currentBrand).
So to do this I have this data binding on my <messageChoice> element

I wondered if it was being called for every item in the list but there are only 9 of those. There's obviously a performance issue as I'm calling my EJB service each time selectValue is called.
Hope this all makes sense - can anyone tell me what's going on here and what I can do to fix it?

Interface help needed (Edirol FA-66) - works with Tiger, not Leopard

I have an Edirol FA66 that works fine on my Macbook running Tiger, but doesn't show up as a device on my iMac running Leopard. Can anyone help please? Thanks....

I used Edirol FA-66 interface successfully with my Intel iMac using Tiger & Logic, iTunes etc for a year, and it worked great. I upgraded from 10.4.4 to 10.4.11 when the system wouldn't recognize M-Audio Radium keyboard. After the upgrade keyboard is on board but now FA-66 doesn't work at all, crackles, static, no sound or device recognition. Must be some glitch in 10.4.11..? Downgraded and the keyboard is gone. Upgraded and the interface is gone. Crazy!
If I buy Leopard, will it resolve both?? I don't want to get Leopard and weigh down my system with all the stuff that goes with it and have the Edirol stuck in the same situation. Is there anyone out there who has experienced this and can recommend a particular version of Leopard?

PCI 6036E/SC 2075, can read only from ch 2, need to use both. help please

I have interfaced DAQ PCI 6036-E with SC2075. I wrote a code to get data from analog input chl 1 and ch 2. I am getting data only from ch1. cables and hardware connected to sc2075 had been tested and are working properly. help please .Also, is it possible to test those channels from measurement and automation explorer and how ?.thanks

Yes, it is possible to test these analog input channels in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). To do so, expand Devices and Interfaces, right-click on the PCI-6036E, and select Test Panels. On the Analog Input tab, you can set the Channel control to any of the device's channels. If both CH1 and CH2 function correctly in MAX, you will need to troubleshoot your code.

It can be the bridge. It could need firmware update. or the FW ports may be an issue. LaCie seemed to invent the phrase/tip 'resetting firewire ports' due to the issues with their drive cases.
You can try an SMC Reset.
So far I have avoided name-brand and tend to see them mentioned. Often with a new OS (though you are on 10.6.8, but when 10.6 came out there was a common complaint and thread of users: FW or USB worked but not the other interface).

Error regarding "cg.dll" - Help please.

I recently downloaded and installed photoshop. However, when i try to run it, the following error crops up everytime: " The program can't start because cg.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. " I have try reinstalling it many times and there has been no improvement. Can anyone help please?

I have no experience working with a Zoom cam. But sometimes it helps if you install the camcorder's software on your computer. This can install the necessary codecs. (And, of course, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements.)
Most likely the cam shoots in a proprietary MP4 codec. So starting a new project and setting it up for Flip cam video might also activate the necessary codecs.
If it still won't go, then version may not have the ability to interface with this camcorder's footage.

I'm still using ID CS5.5 on Mac OS, and my cursor is a pencil with a line through it on locked layers, so I'm not sure if they changed the interface or if you are seeing something different. Either way, have you tried opening the layers pallet (Window>Layers) and unlocking the layer (click the lock icon beside the layer you want to unlock)?

HELP PLEASE..... LOGIC PRO 8 AND NOVATION X STATION. . . . .

i need help please...
i just bought a novation x station and when i use it with logic it wrks fine as a midi controller... but i cant seem to get the synth to work through logic...
i dont know whats wrong? ? ?
(im not using the x station as the audio driver as i use a presonus firebox)
help please

I've used the FB for some years as a secondary live keyboard interface. It's NEVER been noisy at all until you turn the +12dB extra gain stage on for inputs 1 - 4. You guys know about this right?
This can be a pain if you're trying to connect -10 gear or if you're using a low output mic like a ribbon, but if you're connecting -10 gear then use in 1&2 with the +12 switch off and you'll get a way better sound, and while the FB pre's can only be described as budget, if you use a condenser mic (better output level) they're manageable... But best of all would be to use additional pres to bring your level up to +4 and use inputs 3&4. Used this way the FB has decent sound quality - particularly for the price.
To the original poster, if Reason sounds fine and Logic is distorted perhaps you have your mix levels set way too loud in Logic and that is where the distortion is occurring - not the Firebox at all? I see this kind of thing often as I mix many other artist's recordings and almost without exception, they all come to me with a distorting mix bus from channel levels set too high.
The engineering in the Logic Factory Library is very often pretty bad as well. Apple Loops with really noticeable distortion in the audio and not intentional - and while I love Ultrabeat and other Logic instruments many of the factory kits and presets are set too high output so the channel meter goes red for no good reason.

Im new sorry help please?

okay so i have logic pro 9 and i'm trying to play and record some stuff that i play through my keyboard (korg n364 connected through MIDI USB cable). i see the signals coming through into logic but i cant hear anything. i want to know how i can do what i do in garage band being able to play something in garage band through my keyboard. any help please?

Are you using sounds from the Korg (in which case you need to connect the audio outputs from the Korg into your audio interface and put Logic in record on an Audio track) or sounds from one of Logic's software instruments (in which case you need to record the MIDI on an Instrument track to trigger the selected instrument)?
