Interface keeps changing in save for web panel

How can I set my interface to stay the same as one time the "save for web" panel shows the 4 images in a square, then the next time it shows in 4 vertical strips and then other times is shows up in horizontal strips?
This might be something very simple, but it's really annoying me!
Thanks in advance!

OMG!  How many years have I been using this program and I have never noticed this until now?!?
Sorry for the brain fart and thanks for pointing that out!!!
I am really having a good laugh at myself about this one!

  • Width*height vals changing in save for web ??

    Hi all
I've opened an EPS file in illustrator cs4. And its width & height values are differing with width & height values in "save for web" option.
For example, normally in width & height boxes shows as
    width : 247.499 pt
    height : 116.524 pt
    but in save for web
    width : 249
    height : 117
I've checked with various figures too.

    Script lan : javascript
    thanks for ur help!
Actually I've to resize the figure for the width 175, 525, 1400 and the height should change proportionally. So I tried, but I couldn't resize the figures using save for web. Becoz its horizontalScale & verticalScale treats values as percentage. eg. 175 treats as 175%. Then I grouped all items and changed its "width" and foud out the values' corresponding "height" values. But the problem is, exported file's values are changing nearly 3pts.
    could u help on this?

  • RGB Colour change after save for web.

I recently had a folder full of images that I cut out and placed on a grey #e9e9e9 background, after using adobe photoshops Save for web feature, I saved them as 356 colour gif files. However when Ive uploaded them to the web I notice the grey #e9e9e9 was ever so slighty different. when I reopened the images in .gif files in photoshop, the grey background was no longer #e9e9e9 but #eaeaea. Im slighty confused as to why this has happened, and is there anyway of correcting this?

    It depends on the mode:
    Perceptual
    Selective
    Adaptive
In my tests Selective preserves larger gray
    areas e9e9e9 (233 233 233). I think there is no
guarantee, except for web-safe colors (which are
    otherwise quite useless nowadays).

  • Any have a link for tech/webchat support as they keep changing the link for web chat.?

Basically purchased CS6 full master collection and transferred license to me.  All done.  However I've opened up Photoshop first time and there was (in the START MENU drop down) the option for Photoshop or Photoshop 64 bit and of course having 64 bit I opted to open that.
Now my AVG is saying this "AVG DETECTION - Threat IDP Trojan Object: ...photoshop 64 bit exe"  what the heck is going on?.  Am not sure what to do really.  This is all registered with Adobe so I have no clue.  Help!

    Looks like a false positive.

  • CS4 Save for Web Annoyance

I recently installed PS CS4 and found the Save for Web feature added something very annoying. Every time I select it a dialog box pops up saying "Are you sure you want to erase all save for web preferences". Then you have to click Don't Erase or Erase and then it opens the Save for Web panel. There is no button on that dialog box saying don't show this again. So, how the heck to I disable that thing? It's incredibly annoying. I haven't been able to find an option in Prefs or in the Save for Web panel.

This occurs (on the mac) when you hold down the Command+Shift keys, and click Save For Web from the File menu (give it a shot). This also occurs when using a keyboard shortcut to Save for web that uses Command and Shift together. This is especially annoying since I change my Save For Web keyboard shortcut to Command+Shift+S.
A fix in CS5 would be much appreciated, or at least the ability to disable that pop-up somewhere...
    Thanks!

  • Save for Web default folder in PSE 11

On my Windows 7 system, in PSE 8 when I select Save for Web, it defaults to saving the image in a folder I chose that is separate from the one I used in Open.
(Save and Save As default to the folder I opened the image from, and PSE 11 works the same way even though "Save As to Original Folder" is not checked in Edit | Preferences).
But "Save for Web" also always defaults to the folder the image was opened from, even though I have started it in Admiinistrator mode and changed the destination.
That worked to change the default file type from GIF to JPEG, but had no effect on the save-for-web default destination.
Is there a way to set/change the save-for-web default folder in PSE 11?

That makes sense, but it doesn't work for me in PSE11 (though PSE 8 is OK). I get the same result as yesterday, even after rebooting, which I hoped might clear any cached settings. With or without checking Save As to Original Folder, what happens is this:
    - Save to Web defaults to saving the image file in the source folder;
    - if I change the destination to my Web-images folder, that lasts until I close PSE 11, and not beyond;
    - when I start it up again, Save For Web defaults to the source folder (with or without Save As to Original Folder, and regardless of Run As Administrator.
Looking at the folder   C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11
I see that no files show a change in the last several days, so the setting must be elsewhere, in the registry or in C:\Users\... somewhere.  Hmmm..

  • Actions and Save for Web

I have tried to research this on my own searching the forum and asking users far more advanced than I am to no avail. I thought it might be possible that someone here would know whether what I want is feasible.
I use the "Optimize to file size" feature in the Save For Web Panel constantly. I am planning on doing a large amount of conversions in the near future (by which I mean resaving .jpegs at a certain dimension and resolution. As far as the dimension and resolution go, there is no difficulty creating an action to do that. But the icing on the cake for me is have them all processed through Save for Web at a certain file size (for the sake of argument, say 500K). Yes, I know that the resulting images will vary in quality (obviously) because the end result will very much depend on their file size to begin with but that is not an issue for me for my purposes.
Save for Web has various presets and allows you to save presets; however, it does not allow you to save the Optimize to file size as a preset. When I try to record an action, and go to the Save for Web, use the Optimize etcetera, the action created lists the quality of the image I process to record the action. So, for example, if my image is less than 500K, the quality recorded in the action is 100. If my image exceeds 500K, the quality might be 86 and that is what the action records. For whatever reason, what is recorded is the quality rather than the 500K. I am not sure if this is being written clearly enough to explain. I want every image to end up being 500K regardless of what the final quality is (quality being the difference between the original image and the image as saved by Save for Web). But actions are saving the attribute of quality rather than file size.  Sigh. I think I am just repeating myself trying to make it clear but probably failing. In case a screen shot helps clarify, here it is. If this can't be done, I would love to know that so I can give up trying.

I want every image to end up being 500K regardless of what the final quality is (quality being the difference between the original image and the image as saved by Save for Web).
You may have to resort to Scripting for this task … it may need a fairly convoluted approach but I think it has come up before, so someone may be able to help you over at

  • Save for Web & Devices is changing resolution from 72ppi to 300ppi

    Hi,
I'm writing an action to do the following.
Image size - change resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi
    Automate - Fit Image - 600px x 600px
Save for web and devices - JPEG medium.
If I save at any stage (up to save for web & devices) the image is 72ppi
However when I open it again after saving for web & devices and check image size it's 300ppi HOW?
Am I missing something really stupid?
    Peter

    Hi Charles,
Sometimes we have to go through meaningless steps...
The spec for the job is to "automate" a process whereby we end up with a web suitable 600px JPEG of about 50k with © watermark.
Of course they are expecting a 72ppi image, so its easier if thats what they get!!!
The other requirement involves the fact that the web end of the business want to change the filename, so in order to keep a link, I write the filename to IPTC Title Field (using Peter Krogh's script)
However I've now found that if I "save for web & devices" with copyright & contact info, I get IPTC title and 72ppi,
    So happy days....
Many thanks, but now just more curious to know exactly whats happening!

  • Can't change image size % in save for web

    Hello,
I'm using Photoshop CC. When slicing a web mockup, and saving for web, the image percent is blocked at 58.49% and I am not able to increase it to 100%. So my original image of 1024px wide comes out at 600px
I haven't changed any settings (that I know of) and do not have this problem on any other mockup files I have. What setting do I need to adjust in order to save for web my slices at 100%?
    Thanks!

I worked out what the issue was, my document height was over 8000px tall which is causing the issue, even though my slices are less than 2000px tall. When I temporarily crop the document to below 7000px, I can save out the slices at 100%. Annoying work around.
    It seems a bit random.

  • Distortion in Save For Web interface

I am still having problems with my Save For Web interface. Attached is a screen where you can see that with just the Optimized view showing (in this case 72%), the picture looks as expected. But if I go to 2-up or 4-up views, the 2nd image (which was the 72% Optimized) is now all pixelated as if it were a GIF.

OMG!  How many years have I been using this program and I have never noticed this until now?!?

  • How do I change the image size in Save for Web?

I just upgraded to Illustrator CS6 on a PC.  I try to save my graphic in Save for Web and want to alter the image size, but it won't change,  it just goes back to the original size.  If I change the percentage box, the values change.  I have tried linking and unlinking the proportions and nothing.  What am I missing??  I don't have time to guess the percentage to get to the exact width I need.

Make changes in the Image Size section of the Save for Web. Input new values in Width and press Tab key to move to Height field. Click on the Link icon to unconstrain proportions. As you press the Tab key again to go out of focus of the Width and height boxes, you will see the changes reflect inside the Save for Web window. If this doesn't work then make sure you have updated Ai to 16.0.1 or 16.1.0 depending on the type of installation (from Disc or from Creative cloud) respectively.

  • Save for Web: change default connection speed

I've checked my Photoshop book, the online help, the knowledgebase and done a forum search. I may be using the wrong keywords.
When I go to Save for Web and Devices and I look at the optimized, two-up view or four-up views, down in the optimization info area in the lower left hand side of the window, how do I change the default speed from 28.8 to something else? In CS2 there was a way to change this, and now I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in CS3.
Can anyone please help? Thank you in advance.
    Photoshop CS3, OS 10.5.5, MacPro, 4G RAM

Theresa, just to clarify for the benefit of others reading this thread in the future,
if I recall correctly, those settings
DO NOT affect the file at all, they're there for the only purpose of showing you how long the file will take to open at each of the indicated connection steps so that you can choose an appropriate size for the file.
The "default" setting is, therefore, only relevant to the extent that you may want to see that information at a given connection speed every time you save a file without having to click on the contextual menu.

  • Save for Web darker interface

I have for a long time been an advocate for the darker interface, using it mainly in After Effects. So it's great that the CS6 apps have taken this to other apps in the Suite. However Save for Web has been missed out it seems. Anyone else think this should be able to be darkened like the rest of the PS interface?

Yup, along with ACR and others - would be nice to have a consistent UI throughout the product, The main UI and Lightroom compliment each other very well, but then you get the sudden bright flash as a non-conformer pops into view.......
I heard from Nik they are looking to match their Selective Tool to match the new Photoshop UI.....

  • Photoshop CS6 save for web some colors change?

I have a picture with large area of color: #fffdfd, when I save it for web (jpg) this color is changed to #fefcfd (in JPG).
I just can not save as JPG with #fffdfd.
(was trying uncheck convert to sRGB, do not embed color profile - always #fffdfd changes to #fefcfd when save for web)
However, color #fefcfd when save for web , does not change.
Why some colors change and some not? Is it a bug ?
    Window7 64bit, Photoshop CS6

Save for Web & Devices will strip some color data from the file.
Browsers aren't color managed. Most file formats on browsers assume they're sRGB. While Photoshop gives you an option of embedding sRGB to the document color space, it also strips off data that is not relevant. This is a common occurence.
PNG-24 on the other hand will give you the exact color match.
Also, Save for W&D, JPG quality matters a lot - The same color at Quality 10,20,30,40,50...100 wil give you different color reproductions on the JPG end output.
If you're concerned that much about an offset of +/- 1 hex value to your RGB colorspace, dont save for web & devices. Do a 'Save As' instead. Then use an image editing/ resizing application such as ResizeMe to resize the quality of your document. This, in most cases will retain colorspace information but just drop the resolution and quality of the image - giving you a lesser filesize.

Save for web as animated gif, text does not keep true color in Photoshop

GIF is a limited format with only 256 colors. unsuitable colors will be quantized to the next available color or emulated using dithering. Everything else we cannot know, since you haven't provided proper information. Quite possible that you have color management issues...
