Interface very choppy.

I have new 2009 MAC MINI. Why is the mouse so choppy? I move the mouse and it jumps all the time from one place to another. Same thing with applications. Everything is so choppy!

No, it is not the mouse itself that is choppy. It is the arrow. While I move the mouse the arrow does not follow smoothly. It appears and then disappears. I have KVM and the mouse works fine on my older MAC MINI. The software also is choppy. When I click on a program, the little icon jumps up and down, but it is likewise choppy. It stops for split second, continues to bounce and then the application window appears. Same thing for spaces. When I click the appropriate key, the spaces window appears, but it is slow...choppy. When I go back to the normal screen, and then again click on the key to get the spaces, the spaces come up quickly - without being slow and choppy. It seems like a problem with video.

I am editing some behind the scenes footage for a movie our studio is making. A lot of the media has come from different sources. Some red, some mpeg4 etc. The Mac i am using is a Quad Core Mac Pro... technically it should be powerful enough to play over all these fine. But even when everything is rendered, it is very choppy. So much so, that to check my audio is in synch for some of the action shots, i have to export it as a Quicktime and play it back and check it that way.
Now i have tried RT in unlimited and safe... but it still happens. Does anyone have any possible solutions at all?
Any help would be much appreciated,

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything's connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you're using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime you are using.

IPhone 5 call quality issue. (Either call ends or very choppy on the other end)

At random times my calls don't go through. The phone says call ended and doesn't ring. The reception is either full or close to full. This has occurred numerous times while calling different numbers. If I do manage to get the phone to ring, the person on the other end wouldn't be able to hear me as it would be very choppy. I have tried to reset the network settings with no luck. It is a random thing that happens at random times. It is not the carrier issue as all other functions of the phone work. Also this phone is an unlocked unit from Apple and is not in the U.S.

I just replied to a similar post and I'll copy and paste my response here. I was having the same exact issue. Here is my possible fix.
Yesterday I updated the OS to the latest release. Then right after that I called AT&T and they reset my sim card. Or something like that. They did some sort of reset.
I then got in my car and drove around to test the phone. Because that is when the problem is worse. FINALLY they claim to be able to hear me clearly!!!!
I think it was the combination of both the OS update and the sim card reset that fixed it. Hopefully..... It has only been one day but so far so good. I'll update this post if things change.

Quicktime videos from ITUNES play very choppy

I still have one problem yet and that is the videos that I purchased from Itunes still play very choppy.... and this has been happening since 7.2 upgrade, and it didnt get fixed in the 7.3 or 7.3.1 upgrade... I have the latest quicktime that came with the 7.3.1 upgrade... Any suggestions???

Are you using the videos app to play them? Look in the videos app.

Yes! I have the exact same issue. So I tried some things.
I am on Uvese (via wifi) and was trying to update the apps on my PC via itunes. Taking FOREVER. So i tired it directly from my iPhone 6 via wifi - same issue. Then I turned off wifi on the iPhone and updated over (ATT) LTE. That worked great. I am thinking it is a Uverse/ATT issue at this point.

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.

PS CS3 - any action make 100% CPU and very choppy

I have PS CS3 on Win XP SP2, 2 GB RAM, nVidia geForce 8500GT with updated drivers. Until 2 days ago everything was perfect (smooth movement and action in PS CS3). Suddenly every move I make (draw a simple line, move or resize window, painting with paint brush etc) become very choppy and fragmentated and CPU raise instant to 100%. I uninstalled PS CS3 and reinstalled again, but with no luck. Any ideea about what is happening here? Thank you!
PS: Other programs like Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator etc work very nice and smooth with maximum 20-30% CPU usage.

What changed on your system (outside of Photoshop) around that time? Updates? New software? Changed settings?
Only regular stuff: most of them only updates for browsers, antivirus, firewall etc ... nothing related to photoshop
Did you change anything inside Photoshop (showing different palettes, change in prefs)? Especially check Photoshop's prefs for how much memory you allocated to it.
I kept my performance prefs exactly like 2-3 days ago when photoshop worked good and smooth.
What you're describing could be a video driver problem, or just VM thrashing (by the OS or Photoshop's scratch disk). But it's also possible it's due to some other factor inside Photoshop that didn't get included in your description.
I have the last version of nVidia driver (installed 2 months ago) for video card.

What Julianne said at first about re-linking made perfect sense and I followed it easily, had actually already been there. But in my situation now, it didn't have any effect. The directory of folders which had already been added were still just as they were, and the outstanding balance are not in the desired position. And the folders which had been brought in earlier today when I clicked "synchronize folder", were still missing all the metadata.
Maybe this means I need to start over, and I'm fine about doing that that, but I don't know what it takes to accomplish that. I'm concerned now that any changes I make out of guesswork could only make the problem harder to resolve. It just feels to me like something I did at the beginning just wasn't right, and now it's a tangle.
Can you advise?

Very choppy animation when maximizing window on some movies

Hi when playing some movies using Quicktime X and Perian, when I click the maximize window, the animation is very choppy. Sometimes the dock won't even disappear. On movie trailers it's perfectly smooth though. Is this normal? thanks

Very choppy movement

I have iMovie 8 and iMovie HD 6.03
Moving through a movie in iMovie 8 is awful - very choppy and jerky and is essentially unusable. The same movie in iMovie HD 6.03 moves back and forth smoothly with the mouse or arrow keys. What's going on?

You can try a SMC reset: power down the machine and restart holding left side shift, control, option. Press these keys before the start up chime, hold thru spinning gear.
You can also try a PRAM reset: Power down, restart holding option, command, p,r. Again hold keys before start up chime.

Quicktime playback very choppy

I have recently purchased a MacPro (late 2013, 8 core 3GHz, 64 GB memory, OSX 10.9.2) and this morning it started playing video very choppy.
First off, there were some mp4 videos on my drive that all of the sudden I'm getting an error message that Quicktime can't play them. Almost as if a piece of software had gone missine or a bad upgrade (which I haven't done in the last few days).
The .mov files I have gotten to play play alright if they're very small files. Anything else will play for a bit )10-30 seconds) then first the audio starts cutting out then the video starts to get really choppy. It's like Quicktime is running out of memory, but that can't be the case with 64 GB.
Additionally, and possibly related, work in FCPX has slowed way down to about half the speed of my retina MBP. Could a video card have gone bad?
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

also, if i put the video on an external hard drive, it runs fine.
Interesting ... fairly rare sort of problem, but it might be worth checking if the new drive is currently set to PIO rather than DMA. There's information on how to switch a drive to DMA in the *Modify your System Drive Configuration* section in the following document:

I appear very choppy and 1fps. But I can see and hear who i am connected to very well, no problems with me seeing or hearing the other end.
Is it my connection or their connection who is failing?

If you upgraded from Panther look at this thread
Add to the list the possiblility that the Ecamm apps PowerBoost and iGlasses may clash.
Also check you Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities).
Make sure the top drop down read All Processes
Check what is running above the DOCK.
iChat, iChatAgent and vcencoder are all part of iChat.
Look out for anything using more than 20% of CPU
Can some time be a stuck Print Manager.
