INTERFACING FROM ORACLE GL TO HYPERION FOR BUDGETING

As of November 26, 1997, the HYPERION Interface to Oracle General Ledger is not supported.
Someone know if is there a plan to accomplishing it in the future?
Best Regards,
Emilio Perez Solla

As of the latest release version 9.3 they have interface for SAP, as now Hyperion is being acquired by Oracle you can definatly expect an interface for Oracle GL in version 9.5

  • Accruals interfaced from Oracle Purchasing to Oracle Projects

    Hi
Accrue Expense Items in Purchasing Options is set to Period End. If a purchase order which is project related is receipted, will an accrual be interfaced to Oracle Projects?
    Thanks for any help
    Regards
    Sean

    Hi Experts,
We are using Period end accrual,
After we submit Receipt accrual- period end program and submit Create accounting-receiving system creates actuals in GL these are Receiving journals in GL, I need to know after this if we submit PRC: Interface Supplier Costs with parameter Yes for interfacing receipt accruals system is not transferring these accrual actuals in Projects module. Is this correct?
PLease suggest which Purchasing setup for receipt accruals will transfer receipt accrual actuals to Projects module this is very urgent.

  • Data Integration from Oracle GL to Hyperion  Planning

    Hi all,
Can I knw the steps for extarcting the from Oracle GL Tables to Hyperion Planning?
We have installed hyperion 9.3.1 and ODI 10.
Please let me know how will we do this process by using ODI?
    Thanks

    Hi User##########,
In a nutshell you need to do the following...
    1. Create a Project in ODI
    2. Define your Source and Target data stores in Topology
    3. Import the appropriate Knowledge Modules
    4. Reverse Engineer your Source and Target modules to create a model
    5. Create an integration to load from your Source (Oracle GL) to your Target (Hyperion Planning -- I actually prefer to load the data directly to Essbase)
I just did this last month. When loading the data I used an Essbase load rule to ensure Essbase knew the column order.
I was also able to load data via ODI from a flat file WITHOUT a load rule but the order of the data in the file was very important. I was also not able to substitute or alter the information in the integration when this was done. So in the end I still needed to have a load rule handy.
I'd recommend reading up on the ODI documentation for this -- some of it is actually quite good. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/nav/portal_6.htm Check out the "Oracle Data Integrator Adapter for Hyperion xxx" section.

P.S. Check out John Goodwin's blog -- there's some neat stuff in there and you'll probably figure out some neat stuff on your own too.

  • Outbound interfaces from oracle general ledger

    Hi,
    I have a requirement of exporting :
    • Stores transactions
    • Invoice transactions
    • Payment transactions
    • Bank reconciliation transactions
    • Goods Received Not invoiced (GRNI) Accrual transactions
Please let me know if there are any stadard interfaces or open API from oracle general ledger for exporting these transactions.
Any links/pointers in this regard would be helpful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Parag Gurjar

    Hi,
I believe what you have heard is false, you can work with multiple periods open at the same time. But as a best practice its better if you could close the relevant month period on due dates so as to avoid transaction being entered to previous open periods...  Because the accounts will go on a mess if transaction rolls in from future periods.
    Hope this helps,

  • Multiple source columns from Oracle DB to Hyperion Essbase cube

    Hi Experts ,
We have a Source as oracle table to the target Hyperion Essbase Cube(Planning) 11.1.2 using ODI 11g.
Right now my issue is We need to map multiple columns from Oracle DB to One Dimension in Essbase (Planning).
For example -> * In Oracle table i have columns as Name,Volume, unit and item *
In Essbase the dimension called "*CatDefinition has lower level members as Name,Volume, unit and item * "
Now using ODI ,* I want to map the oracle table columns(Multiple) to the dimension(Catdefinition) ? * Please suggest me with idea to achieve multiple column mapping to the single dimension in Essbase .
    Thanks in Advance !
    Keny Alex

Do you even need FDM? You could build a load rule in Essbase directly. If you need to map, then you would register the Essbase target adapter.

  • FDM:how to load data from oracle DB to hyperion essbase

    Hi,
I want to get data from the orcle database and load it into Hyperion Essbase.Do i need to have any source adapter for it or only by using essbase target adapter I can get it ?
    Pls guide me with this.
    Thanks

You want an integration import script along with an Essbase target adaptor -- see page 197 of the fdm admin guide at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fdm_admin.pdf
You will need to use an ODBC compliant Oracle driver for FDM to connect to your db --
the examples in the admin guide are SQL server connections. The Oracle connection strings are
    slightly different.
The below wiki shows an ODBC connection to Oracle:

  • Oracle Financials or Hyperion Planning for variance analysis??

We are considering Hyperion Planning for our Departmental budgets/forecasts and I'm have a disagreement with a few piers. Was hoping you could help. It's my contention that the budgets/forecasts AND actuals should be populated in Hyperion Planning. A few of my piers contend that the budgets/forecats should be housed in Hyperion Planning and pushed down to Oracle Financials for variance analysis - in order to provide drill back capability into the transacations that caused the variance.
Since H.P. is a consolidated system, I would think it's impossible to budget at a summary account level in H.P. and push it to base level/transaction level within Oracle Financials (one to many). In my view, the actuals should flow up from Oracle Financials, via FDM, into H.P. where variance analysis can take place? I would think drill back capability could be provided via FDM within Planning?
Anyway, was hoping to get your thoughts.

    Hi,
We are currently in the final phase of implementing Oracle Financials and Hyperion for the same purpose that you have described in your post. We use Oracle Financials to record actuals and then transfer it to Hyperion under the scenario 'Actual'. While the budget/forecast data in only entered/saved in Hyperion. There are several financial reports for variances that are generated out of Hyperion. So far, this arrangement is serving us pretty well. I second your point that in Hyperion, we can easily compare summary level data. We have Hyperion reports that do variances calculations for sub-totals. In fact, we are also using HP reports for consolidated statements such as Balance sheet, Income statement etc. The actual data for these statements is coming from GL.
As for drill through functionality (from HP to sub-ledger details in financials), we are in process of implementing FDM and use it for both (1) loading data and (2) drill through.
    Hope this helps.

  • Use ODI to Extract Data from Hyperion Planning & Budgeting report to Excel

    Hello
Can someone tell me please how to Extract Data from (Financial Reporting in) Hyperion Planning & Budgeting into Excel Using ODI?
Would the steps be the same as Creating an ODI Project and Interface: Exporting a Flat File to a Flat File? If not, why?
    Best Regards.

Where do you think the financial reports get their data from? Financial Reports pull data from data sources such as Essbase, HFM.

  • Ideas on how to export from Oracle (11g) for import into a MSSQL server?

    Hi folks,
Crazy question yes...but I have some devs that are needing to export some schemas/tables from Oracle to somehow import into MSSQL.
Are there any utilities our there, hopefully from Oracle that would allow for this? So far, all I can think of are to generate the DDL from the Oracle instance, and then do some scripts to output the data in a cvs type format....
    Anything better than this?
Any links or suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,

Senior Oracle DBAThank you for the prompt reply. I'm looking into this and am finding some Oracle documentation, but just off the top of my head, this approach seems to assume the 2 database servers can see or talk to each other.
What if the oracle box is on one network...that cannot connect to the network that the MSSQL box is on. For example..running off some test data from one company to another company with networks that do not cross?Assuming some acceptable export/import utility, how do you plan on getting the file from the source to the target if the two servers are on networks that cannot talk to each other?Well, I'm still trying to gather facts, this is just a question coming in from some developers.
From what it may be, is that the can scp from site to site, but no direct connectivity between the database servers on the sites...isolated, maybe a DMZ...I dunno everything yet.Well, you either have connectivity between the two machines or you don't. Binary decision tree.
    IF  net_connectivity_exists
you can use oracle sqlnet enabled capabilities
         OR
you can transfer an export file via ftp, sftp, scp, etc.
    ELSE
you have to transfer an export file via sneakernet
    END-IF

  • BUILDING DIMENSION FROM ORACLE SORCE

Hi, I am building dimensions from Oracle source using Hyperion SQL Interface. The Rule file is successfully created. However when I tried Update outline, it fails. In the log file I observe the message, Failed in initialization of log file. If anyone has faced this problem, please suggest how you could solve this? Anyone having any small documentation on using SQL interface (apart from Essbases's documentation) please forward it to my email [email protected]

    Hi,
You can use rule files to build dimensions. You have to define the sql data source to build the dimension from the Oracle tables. Please follow given link which has all the details about building dimensions.

My primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.

Yes, it is the message line - so basically this call fails => rv:= CurrencyConvertorStub.ConversionRate(jo,'CAD','USD'); and control goes in the exception block

    message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);

It sounds like you may not have it configured properly to use cookies or something else I'm missing but you might want to try this: a) login to OTN from the homepage to make sure your cookie is set b) navigate to the page you need to download from c) launch getright separately d) copy the URL from the download page and paste into Getright (File --> Enter new URL to download) This is assuming you have v 5.0.2

Also are there any tools through which we can use to test the performances of both the systems and compare.

    > The heterogeneous copy documentation does have all the information you will need to get started.
Sounds good - unfortunately it's not true.
Many customers struggle with the migration.
    > We have almost completed our migration of all our SAP instances from Oracle to MaxDB. For the performance comparison, I have only allocated the same memory to MaxDB as was allocated to Oracle 10g (SGA+PGA) and we have found the performance to be excellent so far.  We will be migrating the Production ECC in December which is the big test.
Your production migration is your big test? Man, you either have guts or you cannot be fired...
    > To do load testing you will need a 3rd party product like LoadRunner.  We didn't perform any load testing or benchmarking so I can't help you with figures there.
Performance is one of the major concerns when doing a change of the DBMS platform with SAP.
In general the design of NetWeaver does all the DBMS abstraction - so technically the ABAP will work on either platform.
What it cannot do is tune the statements so that the performance will be optimal.
This is what the service is about.
Having seen quite some customers with production down performance issues after the migration (and without prior load testing) I cannot stress this point enough: get the service or a MaxDB tuning expert (good luck with that...).
    > My only complaint with MaxDb is documentation.  There is plenty of SAP Help style documentation but nothing concise yet.  Christiane's book, SAP MaxDB Administration is not going to translated to English in the foreseeable future according to someone at SAP Press.  Hopefully they will change their minds.
Have you tried the MaxDB documentation? [http://maxdb.sap.com/documentation].
There are chapters about Concepts and tutorials and stuff like this.
And there's more: check [http://maxdb.sap.com/training] and you'll get the MaxDB 7.6 internals course material for free.
    Give it a try!
While we're at it: I guess you refer to the book Christiane announced (not: wrote) here Book: SAP MaxDB Administration
It's not written by her (although she has authored a book on SAP R/3 administration a long time ago...), but by two students of the technical university of munich.
And - if enough of you write to Galileo Press - I cannot think of a reason why this should not be translated.
