Interfacing IPOD Nano 3rdGen to other items

I have no problems connecting my Nano 3Gen to my computer with iTunes and it syncs perfectly fine but I've tried to connect it to other equipment like a brand new clock radio with an iPod dock and to an exercise equipment that had a iPod interface cable. When initially connected the Nano will wake up (screen turns on), it will charge while connected, but the item I'm connecting to will not recognize the Nano to function with it.
I can't find any setting that might be preventing this. Does anyone know any reason why the Nano will not interface with other equipment?
Thanks,

How you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
If you are updating automatically (syncing) all songs and playlists then delete the files from the iTunes library. In the iTunes Library highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard. If you're updating the iPod from a selected playlist delete the song from the playlist and it will remain in the library. Next time you connect they will deleted automatically from your iPod.
If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and when it shows in the iTunes 7 source list click on the chevron (the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the usual song list. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly as above by pressing the delete key on your keyboard.
To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

  • TS3716 Connecting iPod nano 3rdGen to ipad air, is this possible as I no longer have a PC to manage iTunes library?

Hello I no longer have access to a PC for iTunes library but have just purchased an ipad air and wondered if it's possible to use the air to manage my iTunes library for my iPod nano 3rd gen ?
    Thanks

i noticed this as a bug in iTunes. make sure the correct file is selected in the preferences menus. It does not have to be the default location directiory as Vazandrew stated. your iTunes music library can be anywhere you want it. i have mine on an external cuz i'm a dj and have over 80,000 songs.
once you select/verify the location of your music library, simply drag the folder into the left panel in iTunes from a finder window. iTunes does not automatically add the items like it use to for some reason.

  • IPod Nano - what is "other" and how can I get rid of it

I have a 2gb iPod Nano and only have 1.19gb worth of audio on it right now. I can't put anything else on it because there is 602mb worth of "other" taking up room on the iPod. I don't have any pictures or podcasts on it, i've disable album artwork, and i haven't synced it with my calendar nor do i have any notes on it. Does anyone know how i can identify and delete all this "other" stuff? Help.

  • Ipod nano locked at menu item ENGLISH

My ipod nano powers up and gets stuck at the ENGLISH menu selection. My scroll bar won't work. I tried resetting and restoring to no avail. Scrolling won't work.
I believe this was cause by new gift I received. I got a iLive portable docking system/boombox. My nano stopped working after I plugged it in.
Any way to fix the MENU button or scrolling?

My daughter's nano has done something very similar. It works when it is docked to either the computer or the iLive boombox as well. Once it is disconnected it gets stuck at the main menu and the scroll wheel is non responsive. We have also tried resetting and restoring. How do we fix it?

  • IPod Nano(3rdgen) No drivers found

I am going to start off with, I'm having a fit.. My Roomie told me that his ipod touch wasn't getting recognized at all by the PC, so i started seeing what I could come up with. I did absolutely everything that my time doing tech support had given me but I can't figure this one out. I have unplugged and replugged their ipod touch, switched USB ports with my mouse(mouse works fine when in both ports), reset ipod, reinstalled itunes, enabled/disabled/uninstalled USB driver, used my own Nano. Both the touch and the nano don't say (Do Not Disconnect)and when either of them are connected they show up as "Unknown Driver" in Device manager and i get a bubble, the bottom left of my screen that says "USB device attached has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. For assistance click this message." When I click on it I get "Device Not recognized".
When I updated or reinstalled the drivers I got the HW update wizard telling me that able to update the driver because it said it couldn't find a better match. I uninstalled the driver and then I plugged the ipod back in and it found new hardware and installed components but alas it says the same old thing "USB device attached has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. For assistance click this message."
Please If you have an Idea it would really help my sanity!

    Hi, again
I have managed to resolve the issue. After getting nowhere in the apple pages, I googled for a while, and eventually found a reference to iPodDriver.kext. This file was missing from my mac. So, after googling a bit more I found a number of ways to get the file back, and eventually found it. Now after several reboots, the ipod is connected and doing ipod things.
If you have the same problem, google for iPodDriver.kext, but beware, this file is not easy to find, depending on the version of iTunes installer you have.
    Good Luck.

there are a lot of different FM trasmitters.. My choice would be a kensington or belkin.. I have both and they work well.. Before you buy one in the description of the product it should tell you what model they will work with.. just make sure it will work with your nano.. do a google search on "fm transmitter UK" Im sure you will get a ton of options.

So I have a 1 generation ipod nano, I've heard reports about the battery exploding. I don't have proof of when I bought it and I'd like to get a refund and get a new one. Who could I email since my phone isn't working at the moment?

  • IPod nano (6gen) not recognized in iTunes

Before I recently upgraded too osx 10.6.5 and itunes 10.1 I had no problems syncronizing my ipod (6th generation) with itunes. Immediatly after doing it my problem started. Strangely enough my iPhone shows up and syncronizes, and if I connect my same ipod nano to my other computer (macbook) the ipod nano shows up in itunes. My iPod nano is recognized in finder.
I have tried to follow different troubleshooting-instructions given by apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410). I have tried resetting the ipod, reinstalled itunes, restarting the computer, downgrading itunes (didnt work because of library was in 10.1), switching usb port and using differant cable. I have also tried to connect another iPod nano (6th generation) to my computer, but it does not show up - just like my own.
My computer is a Mac Pro, but it think is strange that it should have anything to do with this, when it worked before - and it is only a problem for ipod nano a and not iphone. I have all software upgrades neseccary.
After hours of troubleshooting I now hope any of you guys have any help to offer me. I would appreciate very much!

    Dear torkildsen,
Please obtain the solution to the matter at the below.
    1. Reset your iPod.
    2. Retry with a different USB or FireWire port. (To verify whether your iPod syncs via FireWire or USB, see the table in the Additional Information section below.)
    3. Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates installed.
    4. Remove iTunes from your /Applications folder. Then reinstall the latest version of iTunes software.
    5. Restore your iPod using another Mac that is able to recognize it. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” in the user's guide.
Or you can use other backup software to transfer iPod contents to iTunes or computer. Follow this reviews about [how to transfer music/videos/photos from iPod/iPhone to Mac?|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/IPod/iPhone/iPadTo_Computer_Transfer_%26_Backup_SoftwareReviews] It includes the transferring of music, photos, videos, SMS, Contact ect. between iPod/iPhone/iPad and computer(PC or Mac).
    Have a good luck.

  • IPod Nano (2nd generation) not fully compatible with BOSE SoundDock

I can't get the remote control for my BOSE SoundDock to function with my newly purchased 2 GB iPod Nano (2nd generation).
The BOSE manual states that the remote control will not function properly if the iPod doesn't have the proper (or later) version of Apple software installed.
The "correct" software that BOSE identifies for the iPod mini (Nano) is version 1.2 or later.
This, however, appears only applicable to iPod 1st generation Nanos.
My brand new ipod Nano has version 1.1.2 software and iTunes has confirmed this to be the most current software for this 2nd generation unit.
Is this a common problem? It's hard to believe the BOSE unit does not cover 2nd generation iPod Nano software.
Other than the non-funtioning remote control, the BOSE unit works fine and with the BOSE-supplied black adpater for the Nano.

Actually, the BOSE SoundDock is compatible with the iPod Nano.
After troubleshooting with the BOSE staff, and some excellent customer service, the problem was narrowed down to the remote control device.
BOSE sent out a new remote control and the unit works fine with my iPod Nano.
Appreciate all who offerred assist in this matter.
