Intergrated Bluetooth on CQ42-165tx problem, help!

Hello everyone, i made an account here because i recently bought a compaq notebook ( cq42-165tx ) and i am very pleased with every specs of this laptop. I have intel i5, using windows 7 home premium 32 bit, 4 gigs of ram, and a good ATI card.
i bought this laptop from a friend, as he has used the laptop for about 3 months already. I asked him about bluetooth functionality, and he said that he had used bluetooth devices to connect with this laptop, as the bluetooth is already intergrated, without using any dongle. However, after i reformatted the laptop i did not find any bluetooth radios in device manager, or any buttons on the keypad of the laptop to enable bluetooth.
Can somebody help me with this? does my notebook have a built in bluetooth? because i checked under the laptop in the battery compartment, it has a sticker saying that i have an Atheros card (most probably my wireless) and a Broadcom BCM92070md_ref. ( i think this is a bluetooth dongle or something ). the problem is now, how do i enable it, and which driver do i hv to download. thanks in advance, never had any trouble with networking until this happens, as i am not much a hardware person.

Unless you're trying to tether your phone to your computer or create a personal hotspot, it won't pair with your computer by bluetooth. File transfer by bluetooth is not supported. So, you can quit trying unless you're trying to tether.

Bluetooth Not Available/Sleep Problems

I'm having a problem which I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere, and it appears i'm not the only one. The bluetooth icon in system bar has a line through it, and when I click on it, it tells me that bluetooth is unavailable. This isn't a major problem for me since i'm not using any bluetooth devices, but this problem also seems to prevent my Macbook from going to sleep. When I close the lid, the HDD whirs (like during startup) and just keeps going, and the indicator light stays solid. I've tried resetting the SMC controller like I read on some other posts but that didn't help at all. The problem has gotten much worse now as it is happening almost all the time, to the point where I need to shutdown my Macbook when ever I want to close the lid, either that or leave it on consistently. I'm using Tiger, but would upgrade to Leopard/Snow Leopard if I knew that would fix the problem, but from what i've read this problem is not specific to the OS. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? It's become a major annoyance as I shouldn't have to shut down my Macbook whenever I just want to close the lid.

Offering another ditto on this one. Bluetooth capability mysteriously disappears from my computer periodically -- to the extent that the computer seems not to believe it even has bluetooth hardware when looking at "About This Mac," and Bluetooth is not visible in the System Preferences panel. While Bluetooth is conked out, the computer cannot seem to go into Sleep mode (I choose Sleep from the apple menu, and the computer appears to sleep for about 3 seconds, then it wakes up right away on its own).
Then, mysteriously, Bluetooth will re-appear and work as it should. When Bluetooth is working, Sleep also works fine once Bluetooth is working again.
Sometimes this goes on intermittently several times a day -- sometimes everything seems to work fine for four or five days and then it starts up again.
Rebooting does not help. Logging out and back in does not help. Resetting the SMC does not help. Reinstalling the OS software has not helped (I've only done the lightweight reinstall, where you don't erase your hard drive and start fresh).
I am at a loss as to how I might fix this or what's going on.
This is a problem I've had intermittently over the last several years, but it always previously resolved itself without too much hassle -- it has gotten worse since upgrading to Snow Leopard.
I have a Bluetooth keyboard; at the moment that's the only Bluetooth device that I've got set up on this computer.
I have a Palm PDA and have installed Missing Sync in the past, but have uninstalled it as I try to troubleshoot this problem, because I THOUGHT that Missing Sync seemed to be contributing, but uninstalling and rebooting hasn't helped.

Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

IPad syncing problem - HELP!

iPad sync problem - HELP! I keep getting this message "...cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional ...space needed)" and yet I seem to have plenty of space on the iPad. This just started today. I even tried deleting some things to make even more room, but it didn't help. Any ideas???
I was thinking of restoring, but I've never done it... should I?

Bluetooth printing to Canon MP610, Help!!!

I have the Canon MP 610 printer and I have bought the bluetooth adaptor that was recommended from the Canon website. I can get my MacBook to recognize the printer but I cannot get it to connect. I get an error message that says there are no configurable services found on your device. This could be due to services not being enabled on the device, or the device might not have any services that need to be configured with the computer. See the docmentation that came with your device for more information. This helps me none because I have all my Canon instruction booklets and nothing tells me anything about how to get bluetooth printing, eventhough it has the capability. Anyone know how to fix this?

I had experienced the same symptoms with a new MacBook Air and PIXMA iP100 printer via Bluetooth printing, (Air found the printer, created a new printer device, but failed to print, produced Error message 311), and found the following solution to be successful:
Install the Canon non-CUPS driver version 7.3.2 (posted on Canon's support page for iP100 downloads), restart, and configure a new Bluetooth printer device from within the Print & Fax System Preferences selecting the "Canon IJ printer driver" - not the "Canon iP100 series" driver. It was as simple as that.
Installing the non-CUPS 7.3.2 driver does not overwrite the 10.1.0 iP100 series CUPS driver. You will still be able to configure separate USB-wired and Bluetooth-enabled devices, using each of the drivers for the appropriate use.
And, (as Steve Jobs might say), " just one more thing..."
This solution worked with either very reasonably-priced Belkin or D-Link USB bluetooth adapters, so I suspect other generic Bluetooth adapters should suffice as well; there's no need to pay a premium price to obtain great results. Printing is also fast: it took 2 seconds to spool and 5 seconds to print a NeoOffice 1-page document with text and graphics. Not too shabby for the Bluetooth protocol.

Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from.
With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

Using Iphone5 with bluetooth in a car: problems with plans and music

Hi all,
i use my iphone5 in my car (recent one, bought it 2 years ago) with bluetooth connection.
The problem is that when i want to use "Plans" App, if i want to hear the indications in the car's loudpeakers, the iphone start music itself. It starts the latest thing listen on "Music" app or Deezer.
So you have the indications of Plans voice, and the music at the same time. Hard to be concentrate on the road you have to follow...
There's also the same problem with he music without using "Plans" app: if i'm listening to a CD or the USB key in my car, i switch the audio source to the iphone and it starts music alone.
I think that putting a real "stop" button in all music app ( "Music", "Deezer" etc) instead of just the "on hold" button could maybe forced the phone to not play anything and just hear the Plans app alone.
The fact to have no stop button lead to have always some music on hold.
Does anybody notice the same problems using iphone in his car?

I had the same issue and I'm running Windows 7. Tried working with technical support for several hours but they were no help. They just had me doing the same things over and over, offering no real answers. I finally got fed up and have decided to return my product for a full refund.

I accidentally turned the Bluetooth of my Mac all in one and now I can't use the mouse anymore so I don't know I can reactivate the Bluetooth again!! Please help!

Warranty is valid only in country of original purchase. You have to return
the iPhone to the US for evaluation. Either you return it personally or send
it to a friend/relative/co-worker in the US to take into Apple. Apple will not
accept international shipments for evaluation nor will Apple ship out of the
country after repair/replacement.
Have you tried the standard trouble shooting steps: restart, restore, restore
as new iPhone?
