Intergrated Camera B5400 listed as working but no picture

Hi,
I have a B5400 laptop, my built in camera worked on purchase but has since stopped.  It is listed in the device manager and says its working OK.  When I try to use it on Skype I can record sound but no video.
I have downloaded latest drivers and installed them.  Turned the laptop on and off.. reinstalled drivers and rebooted but still the same problem.
Please can you help?

Hi Laura, 
From your failure description it sounds like you're having a hardware issue, It could between the Camera it's self or the LCD Cable. Reason why I say is that the LCD Cable is usually connected to not only the Panel but the Camera giving you Video/Mic functions. 
Software wise, since you updated your drivers there could something wrong aswell with your OS preventing the hardware to be accessed or disabled in that manner. Try using the OKR button and "System Restore" the unit and see if that helps. 
If it continues to give you an error contact Lenovo Support Centre and have your unit sent into one of their Lenovo Repair Depots to have the defective parts replaced in a timely manner ! Cheers

    Memtest X or Rember to test the RAM.
    Reseat is also good.
    The iPhone 4 doesn't like USB 1.1 much.
    after the update the computer was working well, except for this freeze when ever I connect iPhone.
    I'd try USB 2.0 PCI. That's how I connect my iPhone 4s, and have connected all iPhones and iPods, to my G4.
    Never an issue.
    Can't say the same for USB 1.1.......
    The above (previous post) linked PCI card is cheap enough.

  • HT201302 my pictures and videos are not in camera roll.  The camera works but the pictures on not on camera roll.

    My Iphone takes pictures and video but then they do not show up on the camera roll.  It says there are no pictures or video.  How can I fix this problem.  I have tried reset and synching.

    If your pictures and video are not on the camera roll, I do not think your iPhone is taking pictures and video.
    You have already tried resetting and restarting your device.   Next, check whether your camera has been disabled in Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera.  If not, ask your Apple Authorized Service provider to check your device or contact Apple Support for help: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/contact/

  • Yikes, Box is Working but no picture or sound...tv guide is showing current though....

    Ok, I checked the tv, it works fine with vcr, so the pic and audio is good. the box is functioning, changing channels and such. the guide comes on to tell you what is on at that time and shows current, but no picture or sound....whats up with this??? I am in FL. Thanks for any help!

    You might want to check your Fios TV page on the website to see if it says "Your STB record cannot be found". I started having this problem today. Everything was fine last night. I got forwarded from Verizon to somewhere else where they were supposed to add my boxes back in. The individual said it was done and I should have the picture back momentarily. I waited 1 and a half hours. Called back. gave them the "M" numbers for my 2 boxes. They said it would take up to 24 hours to get the picture back. Unfortunately that doesn't help me when their is boxing on tonight that I want to watch. If it is not fixed in time for football tomorrow I am not going to be happy.

    When I turned my box on this morning the normal warming up spluggedame on then went blank & my tv is showing a no signal icon (from the tv not the box) but the box says its on bbc 1.
    I have tried switching off & on & changing the hdmi cable & plugged the platstation in which worked but still nothing from the you view box.

  • When i download a video from camera roll onto my pc only the sound works but no picture

    ive transfered plenty of videos from my camera roll onto my pc with no problem.but once i download them into a file there is no thumb picture and when i try playing on vlc,real player,quicktime i get no picture only sound.the only one what i can play on is itunes but thats jumpy picture any ideas?am thinking this happened after i updated my iphone?

  • Live! Cam Socialize HD 1080 - recognised but no picture

    Just got the new webcam and installed as per instructions. I have installed the latest drivers as well.
    I'm running win 7 32bit.
    Camera worked ever so briefly and now I get no picture. I have uninstalled drivers, reinstalled them, rebooted between installations etc. When I plug the camera in I get the red light come on and then after a couple of seconds it goes away again.
    When I start skype to test, it recognises the camera but shows no picture, the loading circle just keeps on going around. Also, I get no picture in Live! Central 3.
    The device shows up correclty in the device manager and also in devices in the control panel.
    The same thing happens when I connect it to my laptop running vista.
    When I run AMCap on the pc, i get no picture, but I clicked on capture video and then the red light comes on but still no picture.
    As i said, it worked briefly but now not at all.
    Any advice?

    Seems like the webcam is faulty. If you purchase this from your local hardware store, please contact them for replacement.

  • Apple TV is working but no picture.

    Apple TV not working properly. My iphone remote sees it, so does iTunes. I can even add content to it via iTunes. But no matter how I try to reset it all I get is a big red screen once it boots completely. I get the Apple logo while the amber light is blinking then nothing and then the red screen. What is going on??? I have tried to unplug it and re plug it again with no luck. I have also reset it through the remote control, no luck.
    It has been connected via HDMI since I purchased it and it was working flawlessly before the 3.0 upgrade.

    I suspect you've already tried these steps:
    If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
    * When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
    * Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
    * Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
    * If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
    * If HDMI isn't working for you - then try component instead. Read more about HDMI vs component video.
    If your TV screen still appears fuzzy or black, you may need to select a video mode your TV supports.
    To select a video mode:
    1. Press and hold both Menu and Menu up/scroll on the Apple Remote for about 6 seconds. Apple TV will cycle through different display resolutions.
    2. When Apple TV reaches an acceptable display resolution and "If you can see the Apple logo, select OK" appears on your TV screen, press the Play button on the Remote.

  • MP4 won't display on apple TV - Sound is working but no pictures

    I have converted some DVD's using Handbrake Software so I can watch them on Apple TV (using Handbrake's 'normal' default output settings).
    After converting them I added the files to itunes. When I play these files on the Macbook they are great - all good.
    When I then Synced with Apple TV the files are shown on the TV under the 'movies' menu with the names, duration and a photo of the film.
    But when I play them on Apple TV I only hear the sound - There is no pictures.
    Apple TV is connected with HDMI cable.
    Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen? All responses welcome...

  • Camera connected and controllable, but no picture in monitor when importing

    I have a Sony DCR-TRV17E connected through firewire port on my powerbook, and I CAN control the camera using the capture controls, but no picture (or audio) appears in the iMovie monitor. Likewise when I click on import, either for a magicmovie or normal.
    It's driving me mad, and all the help pages say is check this, check that, unplug and start again etc. None of which helps!

    May be time for my faulth finding list:
    Mac:
    - hardware
    ◊ Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    ◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
    ◊ Reset PRAM
    ◊ Bad RAM-chips
    ◊ disconnect Mac from powerline (not just switch off, really plug out) for a few minutes to reset FW ports
    - software
    ◊ File-Vault is on - turn it off
    ◊ Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    ◊ Do You have desktop pictures or screen or energy-savers active? Try turning them off.
    ◊ Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good) OS X.4.0-5 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
    ◊ Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first) QT v.7.0.0-4 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
    ◊ Have you tried the crazy fix: Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. Sue/SDillini
    ◊ Running iDVD at the same time as iMovie can cause problems: (Lennart Thelander)
    ◊ If You also have installed FinalCut Express/pro there are possibly problems with this
    iMovie:
    ◊ remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    ◊ Trash: com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovie3.plist : files (Xinram)

    ◊ don’t Daisy chain Camcorder <--> external hard disk <--> Mac
    ◊ FW-wire cable, is it OK?
    ◊ USB/USB2 is NO GO !
    Camera:
    ◊ The Camera is set to VTR ? (not as when You ”film” record with it)
    ◊ You may be need to go to the Camera menu and select digital out.
    ◊ defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC ! (if the A/D chip in the camera is harmed then it will say in iMovie that the camera is connected and You can forward rep. backward the tape but there will be no picture or sound just the blue screen.
    ◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
    ◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?
    Tape:
    ◊ Drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    ◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    ◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

  • IPhone 4S working but the screen is black

    My iPhone screen is completely black but the phone works perfectly. I can connect it to the MAC, i can use Reflector to see everything, music, camera.. Everything works, but to see the phone's screen i need a torchlight. The fact is, that when i switch it on, i can see the Apple logo for a second and i can see everything when the phone is switched off (example: when charging i can see perfectly the battery icon, or "Connect to iTunes" ecc...). I tried to restore the phone from backup, to reset it, pressing home and the power button, DFU mode... EVERYTHING.
    My question is: will buying a new LCD screen solve my problem? If not, any idea?

    You need to make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar to have it evaluated by the techs there. We are just users like you and cannot possibly diagnose what's wrong with your phone without looking at it.

    If this is a brand new iPad - and I don't know where you can buy a brand new iPad 3, I would take it back to the store before going any further. It sound like the screen dies from what you are saying.
