Intergrated GPS

Hello,
I install the intergrated GPS in my mobile (Nokia N81 8GB). I need it for maps.
thank you

The N81 does not have integrated/built-in GPS receiver hardware.
With the N81 you need an external Bluetooth GPS receiver if you need to get the position from satellites.

I live in New Zealand and will be travelling too Hawaii next month, if I use the phone for GPS will I be charged for global roaming data?

Hi, yes you will incurr data roaming charges, previous advice was correct, to disable AGPS you can go into setting-phone-phone mgmt-Application Settings-Positioning-Positioning methods, and un-tick everything except intergrated GPS, this will incur no data charges, and phone will work like a TOMTOM.
Good Luck (though you probably don't need it, you live in NZ and are going to Hawiai !!! Enjoy your trip)

  • C7 Assisted GPS issue.

    Hi all
I have a nokia C7 which is giving me problems in the positioning department.     I only want to use intergrated GPS  so have set the phone accordingly by unchecking everyting but intergrated in the positioning methods window.   Simple!!
The problem is Assitsted GPS seems to turn itself on again and again. This is most annoying.  Its already caused some very huge date use biils.
Is this normal for Assisted GPS to turn itself on once set to off? How can I stop it turning on by itself and why does it do this. ???
I know getting a data plan would solve this issue, however I'm not in a possition to get one,
and i believe I shouldnt be foreced to do so .
    Can anyone help ?
    much appreciated.

    @jaycc
This behaviour is certainly not normal!
Try going to Menu > Settings > Application settings > Positioning > Positioning server > supl.nokia.com > longpress > Disable or Delete - see what happens now.

  • Gps on n97 mini

hi I have just noticed the new nokia maps thing on the front page and was just wondering if the drive navigation was a trial. And if it ever connects to the internet without warning as I am not on a umlimted data plan. thanks

What you've got probably is a trial but today was given free by Nokia for everyone ( you shouldn't have a smartphone without a data plan, it's pointless) you can go into setting-phone-phone mgmt-Application Setings-Positioning-Positioning methods, and un-tick everything except intergrated GPS, this will incur no data charges, and phone will work like a TOMTOM.
Good Luck, and get a data plan, it will improve your phone
ps if this helps you a tick on the Yellow Kudos square would be appreciated

  • When I select a city from the search results I get...

    Hi Everyone,
I have nokia 5800 xpressmusic, I bought the phone last month in US,I have downloaded the latest OVI maps(3.03), software is updated one, Now I am in india, I have downloaded the indian map from OVI suite, the problem is whenever I select some city i get a message "No GPS found ". Is this some setting issue?
Please help out, this is very urgent.

Hi, first, Ovi Maps 3.04 is now available, second most of my UK maps were updated last week, check for latest maps for your region, And finally check your settings in the location app in applications. Also if you are only using intergrated GPS  to navigate, it takes longer to lock on (up to 15 minutes) so if you can stand in an open  area with 'my location' open for ten minutes you should get a good lock, after which you'll find it will lock quicker (don't know why, it just does).
    Good Luck

  • How to totally turn off data traffic when using ma...

    Nokia N8-00:
I only use the integrated gps and have turned off the assisted gps, net based gps and Wi-Fi/Network but when accessing maps it still generates data traffic.
Normally this is´nt a problem but when traveling abroad data traffic costs a small fortune.
In my old N95 when I downloaded offline maps and turned everything but integrated gps off there was no data traffic at all but even after the latest maps updates (i.e. yesterday) it appears that the maps still needs downloading when accessed...
Any suggestions how to completely avoid data traffic when using maps?

Set all destinations to always ask and select no whenever the phone gives you a request, set Maps to offline, and set location to just use intergrated GPS. By the way, just been to Portugal using Vodafone and data charges only about £5 for week, and they've just improved allowances, may be worth checking your service providers web site and see if it's necessary to bother about data roaming, they all tend to follow each other, and Data roaming charges in europe seem to be coming down !

  • Models that turn off integrated antenna when using antenna jack.

I am looking for a cell phone that has an external antenna jack AND will turn off the integrated antenna when the external jack is inserted. Lets define the term " integrated" as being an internal antenna or the permanent attached external or nub style. This can be on the market now or on the used market. The Treo line, even the old ones, is my primary interest but only because i have tried them and I could check email. Any HP/Palm model cell phone would be fine even if it is only available on the used ebay market. Knowing what models DO and DO NOT have an external jack and knowing what ones WILL and WILL NOT turn off the antenna next to my head will help me narrow down my options. So knowing a model will not do as I want is just as valuable. Thanks for the help. Pete I try to buy local. With cell phones that is hard for obvious reasons. HP has many workers in my hometown so i will support them first. If you can think of a non-HP or PALM company that offers this option please let me know and I will add it to the backup list.

  • Why is Siri on my iPhone 4s working very slow?

Why is Siri working very slow?

Mine's takes a minute to show the text and another five minutes to respond!!! it's aggravating!  Even the whole talk to text feature wouldn't work. The little dots would show up for 2 mins and go away with now results. I think I made a mistake in purchasing this phone. Ever since I bought it, it's been nothing but headaches. It's slow at times, the camera takes blurry photos most of the time, the intergrated gps ***** and to top it all off it's best asset siri stopped working properly! Anymore and I'm heading back to android!

  • Using maps abroad

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search but couldn't find the answer.
I'm off on holiday in a while and would like to use the maps function on my N95 (now I've got it working properly!)
I have loaded the latest version of maps for Europe (where we're headed) and want to know if I can use the maps application without incurring roaming charges for the use of the internet whilst doing so. If this is possible, how should I set it up? and will the navigation function still work or does that need an internet connection?
    Many thanks, Moose.

try going into tools-settings-general-positioning-positioning methods-and un-tick everything except intergrated GPS. Also download the maps for the region you're visiting before you leave. To get a good lock, run maps for 3-5 minutes outside then use Nav, you'll find it works quite well !!
    Good Luck

  • Buying ipad2 with wifi - question - with or without verizon 3g

What would be the advantage to buying the verizon 3g access with the ipad 2?  Is it worth the extra money?

There are laptops with intergrated GPS - many of them. It's easy to add external GPS to non-intergrated models too.  The iPad2 does have GPS built in.
A article dealing with this is here:

  • 5800 Maps

    Hi
I have downloaded Nokia Maps for several countries to my mobile.
I have the impresion that Nokia Map is free to use ?
I haven't paid for a license to get rute direction.
I simply just want a "red dot" to indicate my position on the map.
    But:
My phone always ask for internet access when I try to use maps, and I alway answer "no"
Is it not possible to use Nokia Maps without Internet acces?
Is it not possibel to use Nokia Maps without a license?
I do hope someone can help me
    Best regards

Hi, to use maps is free. If you don't want to incurr data charges go into settings-phone-application sett-positioning-positioning methods-un-tick everything except Intergrated GPS. The positioning will then ONLY use GPS reciever and no costs will be incurred (like tom tom)
    Hope this helps
    Good Luck
ps Google maps will also use data for many functions if allowed. Best solution is to get a data plan as this will vastly improve your whole user experience with the 5800

  • Newbie Help with N8 Gps

    hi guys. first post....
I bought a nokia n8 from a local store. it is a second hand unit. i am from south africa.
So, when i turned on the phone, i saw the operator logo "3" So I assume the phone was bought outside my country.. Anyway, the phone works fine....  Then i tried the gps functionlity of the phone.
i cannot get a lock on my position. I tried a few things suggested on this site. I tried: soft reset, changed the position server form "supl.nokia.com" to "supl.google.com", deleted "supl.nokia.com" access point, switched off agps, network and switched it back on and also i downloaded an app "legps" but my gps still don't function.
Here's the deal. When I switch on the internal gps, agps, then i get no lock. it searches forever. When I select "network" only, I get the message "My position within 300m" But when I turn on the intergrated, apgps with network, then i get the message "My position within 300m" So I assume when "network" is selected, my cell phone operator assist in getting my position. But my internal gps is not working... So I think it could be the fact that it it's not accessing the correct server? Cause I deleted the supl.nokia.com server. Tried to add it again but couldnt add an access point in the positioning server. Shouldnt of deleted it in the first place.....
The only thing I can think of is changing the server. Here's another thing. When I set the phone to ofline mode, and then go to position server settings, I see another server appearing with the this line:
h slp mnc001.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org.  But when I activate "general" profile again, then that server disappear. I guess it has something to do with the country server settings?
I don't know what to do. please help.
    Regards

hi. sorry for the delayed reply.... timezones.. anyway i tried downloading the software to reinstall on my phone but couldnt cause of internet problems.. So i searched the net and i came across this:
This is really great news for those with NOKIA 5800.
I have no idea if it works at all locations / country / are, but does not prevent you to try.
As we all know GPS on our phones is a tragedy at the time of the hooks on the TV, I personally wanted to disengage while hooked and want out.
And now I've found that in my opinion, really:
Go to: Settings / Phone / Application / Settings / Positioning / Positioning Server / Server Address
and the possibility that the "Positioning Server" - "supl.nokia.com"
    with this: "h-slp.mnc015.mcc234.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
    MCC MNC
    214 01 Vodafone Vodafone Spain Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100
    "H-slp.mnc001.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
    214 03 Orange France Telecom Spain SA Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100
    "H-slp.mnc003.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
214 04 Telstra Xfera Moviles SA Operational UMTS 2100
    "H-slp.mnc004.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
214 TME 05 Telefónica Móviles Spain Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100 Used by resellers
    "H-slp.mnc005.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
    214 06 Vodafone Vodafone Spain Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100 Used by resellers
    "H-slp.mnc006.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
    214 07 movistar Telefónica Móviles Spain Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100
    "H-slp.mnc007.mcc214.pub.3gppnetwork.org"
Then restart your phone, it is desirable.
We also advise you to copy the old / supl.nokia.com / note address somewhere to have it in your phone
It is copied from a site which was translated through google...I think if i can add a south african server in server settings then maybe it can work? regards

“Error while downloading” message on E71 with updated GPS USA Maps
I’m sure I’m not the only one having this problem but I recently updated my maps on my Straight Talk Nokia E71. The phone says I have map download V 3.03 10wk bo4 Mw Open GL LM MN, Map version 0.1.25.114.and I’m using Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23. After I installed V3.03, I installed it and download the 1.46GB USA map file and the three turn by turn files. But when I first started the GPS app I started getting the following error “Error while downloading”(This is on phone only)
I have tried to factory reset the phone, re-format the 8GB memory card, remove City data and GF files and even unloaded OVI Suite and reload it. But every time I select GPS app and start to find places or my position, I get "Error while downloading" message. I’m new to this phone and didn’t get a respectable book from Straight Talk. So I don’t know much about this phone or Nokia OS. What is this error and how do I fix it. Also when I try to sync from the phone I get the response "system error". Ovi suite on the PC says I have downloaded all the USA maps and English voice  with street names. Please help I’m at a lost.
    Computer specs
I am running Win-Vista, with a Broadband connection. 3 GB Ram, 2 gig Pentium dual core.
Tran’s flash card has plenty room left on card over 5 gigs left.
If I need to delete a file on the phone please tell me the exact file name because I’m not sure which one to remove from the apps folder.

    Welcome to the forum!
Whilst easy for me to say as keep very little data on device, I would suggest backup essential data then delete E:\cities + ,qf file followed by resetting device to "Out of box" state by keying in #7370# then 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself). At this point you would need to open OVI Maps application on device to re-initialise application and re-define necessary folder structure on memory card for device to be recognised by OVI Suite > Maps to re-download your regional mapping.
