Intergration of Production Planning with Plant Maintenance (SAP Modules)

Our SAP Implentation Consultants are creating work centres in Production Planning which are different to the workcentres in Plant Maintenance as follows.
Work Centres in PP
Mixing
Blowing
Filling
Packaging
Work Centres in PM
Mechanical
Electronics
Electrical
My observation is that in PM the work centres should be identical to PP work centres. whereas Mechanical, Electronics and Electrical should be configured as divisions or departments. The idea is that by having PM WC identical to PP WC the costing will be simplified.
looking forward to expert's advices, please

  • 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module)

    Dear Experts
I want to know about 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module). How to work on LOG BOOK & what are the configuration settings available in SAP PM for Log Book?
Basically, the concept of logbook is to update shift activities & measures during Plant Maintenance without SAP. but in SAP, What i know about the Log book in SAP PM is : It is an industry specific feature, before it was only used in (IS- Aeronautical). but now it is available in ECC 6.0 also. To activate this node, we need to update the patch 2.0 in ECC 6.0
    Thanx,
    PMGURU

    Dear,
The Logbook is an easy-to-use tool that supports the controlling and execution of daily maintenance tasks for assets in operation. This tool provides personnel, who are operating the assets, with the functions to log defects and operational data. It provides maintenance personnel, such as maintenance engineers and technicians, with functions that ensure the timely and reliable execution of their maintenance tasks.
Logbook is easy to use and provides functionality that is seamlessly integrated with follow-on processes of the mySAP for Aerospace & Defense solution for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). For example, operational data captured in the Logbook updates measurement points that, in turn, trigger preventive maintenance events. Maintenance work steps created in the Logbook generate material and resource requirements in materials and capacity planning. Material exchanges update the asset structure and automatically generate the required goods movements.
An important business example for using the Logbook is to control the daily line maintenance tasks for aircrafts.
The logbook helps you record defects encountered during aircraft flights and the actions taken to correct them. The log may also include the space to record additional flight data, such as the names of the crew members, flight parameters, payload data, fueling data, flight hours, and cycles operated.

  • Planning in Plant Maintenance using MCB.

    Hi Experts,
My client is into Mining Industry. This is a Greenfield SAP Implementation.
Client is not clear with the Planning requirements in the Plant Maintenance module.
Therefore, I have suggested that all the Standard Businenss Content Extractors and relevant Queries will be delivered as part of Maintenance Planning.
I tried but could not find any Plant Maintenance Planning (MCB) related DataSources and Queries in the BI 7.0 Business Content page @ http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/f6/7a0c3c40787431e10000000a114084/frameset.htm.
Could you please help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chandu

    Hello Chandra,
We are in the Health Care sector and I have a similar requirement as of yours. We are not really sure what all we would require from PM, so we are thinking to go ahead with all the Business Content Reports and I have been asked to install all the Cubes, DSO's, Extracots, Reports Etc, Etc....
I just also have the above link in my hand and it doesn't give us a whole lot clear picture..? So how did u carry out with your requirement? What all you ended up installing? Please do share it, will be a great help for me.
    Thanks in advance, Venu.

  • Budget Planning for Plant Maintenance

Explain functions for Budget planning through SAP BW-BPS (SAP Business Information
              Warehouse)

SAP has the MCB functionlity for this.
With maintenance cost budgeting (MCB) functionality, SAP offers a product life cycle management cross-application component supplying a solution for planning a maintenance cost budget. A MCB in general is a budget for all costs for maintenance, inspection, and repair of technical assets. In the stricter sense of SAP R/3 software, a MCB is a budget for PM order costs.
MCB provides the following planning scenarios with pre-configured standard entries:
    - The history-based scenario is history-based and the budget categories are combined in one overall planning scenario. This scenario can create records with budget categories “preventive”, “planned” or “unplanned.”
    - The ad-hoc (hist) scenario
    - The maintenance plan scenario is zero-based and can only create records with budget use “preventive.”
    - The task list scenario is zero-based and can only create records with budget use “planned.”
    - The ad-hoc (plan) scenario is zero-based and can create records with budget categories “planned” or “unplanned.”
The benefits of an appropriate budgeting tool include:
    - Tool to drive down maintenance costs
    - Better data integrity than spreadsheet-based budgeting
    - Access to your plan data from everywhere with a user-friendly front end (Web interfaces)
    - Ability to reflect changes in near future
    - Flexible and accurate reporting
    - Integration with other enterprise systems
    - Data extracted automatically from back-end system
    - Reduction of the budget preparation time
    - Continuous planning with standardized, automated budget processes
    - Better transparency of the budget planning process
    - Support of planning as a company-wide effort, with a great number of managers and employees contributing
    - Not just a tool but analytical applications

    Paul

  • Unable to create a production plan and schedule on SAP B1

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure out how to use SAP B1 to give me a production plan and schedule for quite some time now.... I have no problem in accessing my pending orders. There seems to be no option in my production tab to enter resource information! Would be great if you could possibly tell me how to figure this out.

    Hi,
Without capturing the actual time of production orders, it is not possible to perform scheduling. You may create planned production order by based on theoretical time.
Only third party add-on fulfill your requirement.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagarajan

Can anyone share some links or materials regarding the PM module.
I have checked the help.sap reference. but since I dont have experience & practical knowledge regarding this module I am finding a bit difficult to follow. So please advice how to start with ?
Materials with the basics structure & Process flow in PM  Or if someone can explain the PM process flow like the PR-LIV flow in MM it will be really very helpful.
Also if you can provide details regarding the SDN forum i.e related to PM module where I can find PM materials & threads it will be highly appreciable.
    Expecting your valuable replys.

  • Plant Maint (SAP Modules)

We wrote to our SAP Implementation Team
In the Plant Maintenance Module we need a well-defined setup procedures allowing addition of new / modification of existing Standard Operating Procedures and a mechanism which allows the system to ensure all plant maintenace operations are strictly done in accordance to the SOPs, and deviations are either restricted and/or highlighted by alerts depending upon the sensitivity
    Our SAP Implementors have said
In the task lists (SAP) which will be created by you will contain all
the SOP's as defined by you which are needed to carry out maintenance
on a particular machine. However the automation to generate alerts if
someone does not follow the SOP's cannot be done in SAP. This is
because that SAP is not a Plant automation software it is an ERP
    software.
Can anyone help us resolve this issue.

    Hi ,
I think this is not relevent forum, move theread to relevent forum, you may get valuable inputs
    Regards,
    Raj
