INTERLACE ISSUES WITH SLIDESHOW STILLS??

I'm doing a slideshow in DVDSP.
I've setup the TIF images at 720 X 534.
Brought them into DVDSP & converted to a track.
Burned the disc & on playback on a 21" tube TV, I'm getting a lot of shaking lines & blinking eyes, etc...
I believe it's called interlacing?
I'm wondering if I'll have a different result if I don't convert the slideshow to a track & keep them as single images??
Does anyone else have a suggestion on how to remedy this problem with image adjustment or??
I've been told to blur the images & that could help but I don't want to take away from the sharpness & quality of the images.
Also, will this view better on a flatscreen TV?
Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
JRM

Nope, I'm in NTSC.
I set the still images up at 720 X 534 because one of my pro tutorials explained this is the correct way.
Another of my pro tutorials suggests setting them up at 720 X 534 but then sizing them in Photoshop, disproportionately to 720 X 480.
If I squish them down to 720 X 480 do you think this will fix the problem?
Also, If this is viewed on a flatscreen TV, would it have a better result? Right now it's being viewed on an old tube TV.
Thanks again for any help.

  • Issue with slideshow size and buttons.

I am having issues with the spry image slideshow  with filmstrip.   I can not figure out why the buttons disappeared.  When I was installing the slideshow to the site I am pretty sure I only changed the size so that it would fit the page.  Once I got that figured out I noticed the buttons where no longer there.  Also the arrows for the thumbnail pictures would not work.  I was able to make some adjustments to get the arrows to work with thumbnails.  Still having problems with the play and next and previous buttons. They are not visible.  Any help would be appreciated.  The site is http://abbeyhelpsbrokenhearts.com/story.html
I have created a brand new page to test in dreamweaver.  If I change the size of the width it puts a white box below the slideshow with the buttons below.

    hiya
well , you are certainly getting some really good help now...its like you fell into a room with the best editors and shooters and everything and you can get a lot of information and run with it...find out a lot of things.
Some of it requires you follow through on your own as much as possible ( like you have already ) by reading and googling things you dont know, etc...  this forum and these guys is how I learned a lot about this stuff in the past year or so...so listen to what they say....google what you dont understand....you cant go wrong.
    now...about what you said...
I exported the test clip as  an MPEG2-DVD and it gave me a video file with NO SOUND, a separate WAV  sound file, and two xmp files. This is not what I was looking for.
I have a movie project on  Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. I simply want to export/publish the movie, burn  it onto a DVD using Windows DVD maker and have it as top quality, like  it looks in the preview monitor on Premiere. Tell me how to do it.---
I dont use encore to burn a dvd, but use DVDit PRO.  It wants exactly what you got when you exported to mpeg 2 dvd ....a video file without sound muxed.. and a separate wav file....
I know it sounds weird but thats the way the program burns the DVD....and that has to do with making the VOB files etc for the DVD...which is just the way it is....you see the vob files AFTER you burn the DVD if you look in the DVD...
anyway, mpeg 2, mpeg 4, all that highly compressed stuff ( as you said ) is highly compressed to FIT onto the media ( DVD ) or whatever....but it plays good and it looks good...and has NOTHING to do with anything except squishing stuff down to fit the media and looking ( viewing ) GOOD.  the best movie you ever saw on DVD is mpeg 2 .....  turned into vob in the making of the DVD by the software that makes the DVD.
all these things are different animals ...what you edit , what you deliver, etc ....

  • Interlacing issue with AME/Premiere CS5?

    Hi,
I am having some issues with a file that I am trying to conform using AME CS5 from XDCAM-HD mxf wrapped to wmv output that I need to be able to playout of a black magic card to SDI.
The source file is 25fps PAL
If I import the mxf directly into AME (without going via Premiere), I can successfully output an interlaced file at 6Mbit CBR using the main profile and it plays out correctly on the monitor I am using to check playback.
However, I need to remove 2 channels of audio from the hires and overlay a logo. I have done this by importing the file into Premiere, making the necessary changes and exporting it to AME.
When I do this, if I chose interlaced as my output from AME the resultant file is terrible and movement is extremely jerky. If I change the output to deinterlaced I see an improvement but it is still not as good as the file that has been imported directly to AME without going via Premiere.
I need to understand (and resolve) what is happening within Premiere that is making a difference to the output file from AME.
Changing the output format to something other than wmv is not really an option at present.
I have tried changing the Interpret Footage settings in AME along with various other options. I appreciate that I may not have supplied enough information here for someone to be able to assist but if you let me know what else you need to know I will happily provide it.
    Thanks

thanks for the clarification and apologies for the misunderstanding. I don't work in the video editing side of the industry so I'm not familiar with a lot of the lingo.
Unfortunately I have an absolute requirement to either use the prproj (or ideally the FCP xml option) output so that I can substitue the source media in the project and send multiple jobs to AME using an automated process.
I'm trying to understand what Premiere is doing to the hires file when it exports it that is causing the difference in the resulting output from AME when compared to submitting the hires directly to AME.
I'm just in the process of setting up a new project that only contains the hires, with no logo added, no settings changed and I am going to run that through AME using the same epr that I used on the direct import of the hires.

  • Font/Type Issue with Slideshow & Transitions

DVDSP 4.1.0. I've created a slideshow in DVDSP. I created all the photos in Photoshop. Each has a small caption at the bottom created as part of the actual photo. When I create a slideshow in DVDSP everything looks great. However, if I had a transition to the slides (say a fade through color for 1 second) the type on the caption looks crazy bad on SOME DVD players. Looks fine on my computer and two of my DVD players, but on one other one (and unfortunately my clients) DVD player the type looks very bad when the transitions have been added to the slideshow. The photo still looks great, but the type at the bottom looks horrible. Clearly it's an issue with some DVD players and some don't seem show the problem. Just wondered if anyone had any insight into this problem. Thanks.

    hi, friend!
    try this:
    void setAttributeToText(JTextPane pane, int start, int end, Color color) {
    MutableAttributeSet new_att = new SimpleAttributeSet();
    StyleConstants.setForeground(new_att,color);
    HTMLDocument doc=(HTMLDocument)pane.getDocument();
    doc.setCharacterAttributes(start,end,new_att,false);
It works fine in my Application, hope will work in yours, too.
    good luck.

  • Quality issues with slideshows

    Hi,
I'm a long term user of PE v9 (basic editing & burning of home vids & slideshows), but I've just bought a new computer & upgraded to Photoshop & PE v11.
The first slideshow I created (created in Photoshop & exported to PE for adding music, titles etc) had a lot of issues:
Some of the photos were rotated 90 degrees & stretched (which I noticed & cut out prior to burning), but more importantly,
The end product once burned to DVD is of terrible quality.
I seem to recall that when I first set up PE 9 I set a project quality standard that all future projects would follow unless I changed it.  I've looked everywhere in PE 11 & I can't find where this is set.  I'm not overly technical and I'm out of ideas re: where to look to fix these quality issues.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Cozzie.

    Hi Apple Miga,
I've spent literally hours on this trying all sorts of combinations of settings and ways & means of initiating a slideshow.  To my surprise & absolute elation, I finally had a partial win late last night.  I finally got the quality of the slides to be as good as I've been getting for years with PrE v7.  I haven't been able to work out the rotation & stretching of some photos yet, but I'm at least I've got good quality on the photos that didn't rotate (which is the bulk of them).
Here's what I did, triggered by a comment above by VDOSurfer (thankyou VDOSurfer).  I had actually already tried setting the project settings to DV-PAL (instead of AVCHD-PAL which I'd been using successfully with PrE v7) a couple of times with the same poor results, but I tried it again in a different order as follows:
    Open PrE11.
Select 'New Project' (ie not existing project)
Once the new project opens up, select File, New Project (from the file menu at the top of the screen)
Click on 'Change Settings' at the bottom of the dialog box.  I noticed here that my settings were always defaulting to NTSC/AVCHD 1080p60.  So I changed this to PAL/DV Widescreen 48kHz (I live in Australia, so if you're in the US, I guess you'd select NTSC/DV Widescreen 48kHz).
Click on the checkbox 'Force selected project settings on this project'.
    Click on Add Media
I added my slideshow from Photoshop because I'd already prepared it in that product, but you should be able to add it from wherever your photos live.
Click on Publish+Share, select DVD & Disk, ensure PAL_DOLBY_Widescreen DVD is selected.  (If you're in the US, this would be NTSC).
    Burn as normal.
This worked very well for me.  Hope it helps.  Please let me know how you go.
If anyone has any thoughts on how to stop the random rotation & stretching, I'd love to hear.  Note that photos that are rotated & stretched start off in the correct rotation in Photoshop Elements v11 prior to exporting to PrE 11.
    Thanks,
    Cozzie.

  • Three issues with slideshows...

Issue 1: I can select 1 song to play as the music for a slideshow or 1 playlist, but I cannot select (like shift-click in normal applications) multiple songs or playlists. Why is this???
Issue 2: I would like to chain together multiple slide shows into 1 - i.e., allow one component of a slide show to be another slide show. This would make stringing together slide shows with different characteristics easier.
Issue 3: I would like to be able to put title slides into slide shows without having to build them in PowerPoint or Keynote and then saving as JPEG and importing into iPhoto. Just something simple would be fine, but I can imagine a "Word-art" like capability with a photo (transparency would be nice) in the background.
Anybody else see the need for these?

1 - yes you can only select one song or one playlist. If you need multiple songs then put them in one playlist. If you need the songs in two or more playlists in a single slideshow then create a new playlist from those other playlists. It's just the nature of the beast.
2 - You can either put all of the photos from the multiple slideshows into a new slideshow or export those slideshows to quicktime and join them together with iMovie or QT Pro. I think QT Pro would be better as it would avoid re-encoding into a new file as iMovie would do.
3 - Create the title in iMovie and the do a Save Clip, select jpg as the format, and import that new file into iPhoto.

  • Interlacing issues with video streaming

I've posted once before on this issue and was told it needed to be directed to a video type forum ( which makes sense) but the finger from other forums keeps being pointed back to a potential Acrobat streaming/compression issue. Here' the question -
I'm doing online videos with a Canon Legria HF M41 which is CMOS and not truly progressive.
They're basically guitar lessons and while they appear fine through iMovie and Quicktime and also on my You Tube channel, the strings appear broken, jagged, artifacty, dashed i.e. not right in other words, when I stream them from the server (Blue Host ) through to Acrobat X Pro documents. The size and quantity require streaming and not embedding. They are set to 100% of the original size.
I'm using iMovie (with Quicktime Pro export options) and exporting using Movie to Quicktime Movie.
The Options.. settings i've got are as follows :
    Compression: H.264
    Quality : High
    Frame Rate: 30
    Bite Rate: 128kbits/sec
    Encoding mode: multi-pass
    Dimensions: 960 + 540 (Current)
Deinterlace Source Video = Clicked on
The Prepare for Internet Streaming box is clicked and Fast Start is selected.
    The Data Rate : automatic
    Optimised for : Download.
I'm wondering if it should be set to Optimised for : Streaming . With some adjustments in the kbits/sec box ?
I think the problem seems to lie somewhere between my compression settings and Acrobat X Pro  or do I need to be thinking about a video camera update.
    Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Dave I took your advice but I'm still back with the same question.

Thanks Dave,  well here they are. I'm suspecting it could be a CMOS issue within the video camera itself rather than Acrobat. You can see a hint of the "jaggedness" in both the iMovie and QT 7 which for my purposes is acceptable quality  -  but it as you can see,  it gets amplified (as shown in the screen shot) when streamed via Acrobat .
    iMovie                                                                                                  Acrobat (streamed video)

  • Strange issue with slideshow timing...

Using the Scrapbook theme with about 40 photos... added music, and selected "10 sec" as min timing for each of the photos thru the Settings=>All Photos tab. Would expect the slideshow to run for about 400 sec, however, the preview shows the photos changing every ~4 sec, and the exported h264/720p QT file also runs only for a grand total of <2 min!
Tried trashing the .plist file, but that doesn't appear to work... Is this a known bug, and are there any workarounds?
Tried to import the .MOV into iMHD to see if I could use the slo-mo effect to increase the slide-show run-time, but that also slows down the transitions, which doesn't look as good... Any other ideas?

  • I'm having issues with wifi still on 7.0.4

I was experiencing in and out connectivity issues when using my 4s (connecting to wifi, not connecting to wifi) and usually when I would reset the network or my phone the problem would resolve. Think of it as seeing a steady pulsing 3G then Wifi symbol where it's just not connecting.
Now on 7.0.4 I'm stilling having issues and the restart of the phone (and restore) did not seem do have any effect.
Any suggestions here? Been happening both at home, work, and connections to local places. I'm thinking it's the card in the phone that's just beat up due to typical iphone wear and tear.
    THanks!
    Phil

i was having the same problem, after a trying all options that genuis bar recommeneded it still didn't work, but what worked was a DFU restore, which was actually recommeneded by a specialist at the Yorkdale apple store, i can't believe all the genuises i spoke to didn't recommend that the first time around after all else had failed... but DFU restore worked for me...
good luck and hope it helped.

  • Quality issues with slideshow images - jpg or pdf or ai files

    Hi
I'm trying to put a iDVD slide show graphic design portfollio together which consists of jpg, pdf and illustrator CS .ai files plus some small movie clips.
All looked great when i had it all set up in iDVD and i ran the slide show. Then i burnt the disk and played it back on both a DVD player and my mac book pro and the images are all pixilated and fuzzy. Has anyone had this problem with trying to do a graphic portfollio rather than just photo's and movies?

  • Plasma Screen OK to test interlacing issues?

Having interlacing issues with my 24P footage and IMac monitor. If I output to my plasma screen, is this the same as any NTSC monitor in regard to checking/monitoring interlace issues?

Just to aid in the direction you're taking this.
This is an extract from the "Key Features" of the Panasonic standard definition video camera I'm assuming he's been using based on his profile:
    Panasonic AG-DVX100B 3CCD 24p/30p/60i Mini-DV Camcorder
    • You may choose from three shooting modes: 24p (24 fps, progressive) for images with the look and motion of film movies, 30p (30 fps, progressive), or standard 60i (60 fps, interlace).
    • 24p Advance Mode For 24p Non-Linear Editing
In 24p mode, images from the CCD can be 2:3 pulldown-converted (24p Mode) or 2:3:3:2 pulldown-converted (24p Advance Mode) and recorded onto tape in the standard 60i TV format. The tape can then be played back or edited using an ordinary DV system. True 24p editing can be achieved by uploading 2:3:3:2 pulldown-converted images via an IEEE 1394 DV interface to a compatible non-linear editing system. The 24p Advance Mode allows 60i/24p conversion with minimal picture degradation and on the fly 24 frame extraction.

  • Export sequence of still images (JPGs, TIFFs) from FCP timeline into DVD without interlaced issues using Compressor

    Hi,
How to export a sequence with stills (jpg) into a DVD format by using Compressor without having the interlaced issue on the outcome? The stills in the Canvas look crisp but once exported to DVD format, the outcome images look interlaced. How can I best match the crisp look of the high resolution JPGs in time line when exported to DVD?
My Sequence settings match the image settings:
    Frame Size: 1024 x 768
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Field Dominance: None
    Compressor: Photo JPG
I tried to export the sequence of img as an independent QT movie file by using Apple ProRes 422 output settings. The video file looks great. I then imported it back to time line into new sequence and exported into DVD format trying both: deinterlace and "same as source" setting. Both output DVD files still have the interlaced issue.
I also tried to work with JPGs converted to TIFFs on a different sequence with same as Tiff settings and the issue still persists.
    I will appreciate any advices.
    Thank you,
    Izabela

    Dear Nick,
Thank you, I understand now it is the aspect ratio issue.
Are you suggesting that I should use Photoshop or Graphic Converter to convert the 1024 x 768 to 720 x 480 prior to importing them into FCP seqence?
    > Give the DVD authoring software the correct size:
I am using FCP 7.0.3 to create the sequence of images (there has to be specific timing and transitions), which I then export to DVD format by using Compressor.
Do you mean that I should set the FCP timeline sequnece settings to 720 x 480?
Please let me know. Thank you,
    Izabela

  • Issues with loading slideshows

I have built a site for a client using Muse and the client is experiencing problems with a couple of slideshows that won't load.  I'm not having this issue using either Safari or Firefox, and there doesn't appear to be any problems using separate desktops (mates online are not having any issues).
The site in question has a number of slideshows on different pages, this issue is with the Gallery Page slideshow (apparently it doesn't load images at all, but the captions still rotate)
And the same slideshow issue with the Covers & Cloths page.
No-one else is experiencing this, the client's site renders fine on her tablet (running Safari) no problems there, it's just the desktop version . . . and there is no separate version for tablet or Desktop, I only created two versions of the site a Desktop and a Mobile. The site in question is www.finishingtouchuk.co.uk
Off the top of my head I was wondering if perhaps the client has loaded an image into the offending slideshows through the Dashboard and it hasn't been optimized, or perhaps the file names are conflicting, but because no-one else is having this issue I'm not sure how to advise my client, could it be some specific settings within their version of Safari?
    Thanks
    Penny

    Hi Penny,
This could very well be as simple as their browser cache or a plugin/extension/add-on causing this.
You could advise them to try a different browser or try resetting their current browser to default settings. This seems pretty much a browser/machine specific issue.
    Cheers,
    Vikas

  • After several repairs, still having heating issue with MacBook Pro (mid '09)

EDIT: this post got removed the first time for not being constructive enough. I've now edited the post.
This is going to be a lengthy post, so bear with me.
2 months ago, I suddenly noticed my MacBook Pro (medio 2009, 15", 4GB RAM, GeForce 9400M) heating up a lot harder than usual. I'm familiar with the heating issues these laptops have, but this wasn't normal. Looking at iStat Pro, I saw my fans almost taking off like an airplane at 5700 rpm, while watching only a livestream on my browser. I know Shockwave Flash takes up quite a chunk of your CPU, but I had never encountered this problem beforehand.
The biggest problem wasn't just the heat or the fans, but the fact that my computer also started reacting rather slowly. Sometimes I'd even get beachballed, or the whole browser stopped responding for half a minute...
So I tried to see if gaming was still an option. Of course not. I had been playing League of Legends for several months without any issues. Whilst playing, I'd kick up my fans manually to about 4000 rpm, and they'd stay there throughout the whole game. Now, when I start up the game, it plays smoothly for the first 2 minutes. After the temperatures rise to a critical level, the fans start spinning up to 5700 rpm, and the whole game plays like a powerpoint presentation.
On a sidenote: it sort of 'lags' every 1-2 seconds, and sometimes, after a long period, the game acts somewhat normal again (20 mins). This game uses wine to run, which isn't the most optimal way. So I tried playing Team Fortress 2, too. Probably even worse results! (but again noticeable 1-2 second interval lags)
Before anyone starts screaming: "Don't use your Mac for gaming!" etc., I wish to point out that these two games had been running perfectly for the past few months/years. Something's definitely wrong.
After looking for some solutions myself, I decided to go to an authorized Apple Service in my city. A few days later, they told me my logic board was broken, and I had to pay almost 700 euros ($ 900-1000) to replace it. So I did. I got it back, but it wasn't fixed. Brought it back in. Got it back a week later: "Your new logic board we got from Apple was already broken, but we hadn't noticed. We put a new one in it. It's fixed." Again, same problem.
We're almost 2 months later and 700 euros poorer, still no result. I've brought it in about 6-7 times now, here's a list of what they've tried so far:
    - In total 3 new logic boards
    - New MagSafe (because they discovered it was giving too much power too my laptop)
    - Fresh re-install
    - Replaced RAM
    - Checked fans etc. (they do this by default)
    - A few tests which proved that it was repaired (but I have my doubts with these tests...)
They told me now that it's fixed, and they basically won't look into it anymore. I must contact Apple myself, if I wasn't satisfied. The tests they performed showed no signs of heating issues. (One of the tests was playing 4 1080p movies at the same time. When I watch a 1080p movie on Youtube, my laptop is taking off like a plane) They ran a stress test all night long, showing no temperatures above 98°C. I got it up to 105°C in a few minutes according to iStat Pro.
They advised me to install Mountain Lion, which would make the issues with "high-performance sites" go away. I haven't seen much improvement, though.
This whole experience has been quite frustrating, especially now that I'm gonna need my laptop for University again. Isn't there anything I can do? I've paid almost 700 euros and missed my laptop for 2 months, without any results.
I've got more information regarding the issues if needed, ask away. I'm getting desperate.
I've been browsing around the support communites, and found that a lot of people are having issues since they upgraded to OS X Lion. Could this be the case? Should I try downgrading to Snow Leopard?
I've also found a few topics on refreshing the cooling pasta on the heatsink. Would they have noticed any problems with this after replacing the Logic Board several times? Or should I check it myself? I'm not too keen on opening up my laptop myself...
    Nick.

    Thought of buying Parallels? Fusion?
Might want to see if this gets moved to the MacBook Pro forum.
I'd think Windows 8.1 is smart enough (what I use 90% time since the Dev Preview came out couple yrs ago it seems like) to find the driver.

  • I have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3

i have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3.
the problem is best explained on the following one - page thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3951518?start=0&tstart=0
(Clearly i'm not alone in this problem, although i think i figured out what's going wrong a little more than he did...read on!)
his solution, to put mainstage in jump mode, is very unsatisfactory to me, as it bounces all of a sudden to drastically different settings.
basically, my analysis is that my controller is NOT receiving MIDI date from mainstage.  in other words, mainstage knows what my controller is doing, but my controller doens't know what mainstage is doing.
let's say i turn the knob all the way to the right ... 127...and the virtual fader goes to the right like it's supposed to.
now...next...let's say i change to a different patch, where that same VIRTUAL fader is not at the max clockwise position..maybe it's only at 1pm.  now when i turn the physical knob to the RIGHT, the midi data is still at 127 on the controller!  it didn't "reset" to sync up with the new level (say 80 or so) setting on the new patch.  so i can't increase that new setting of 80 by continuing to turn the knob to the right.  i have to turn it all the way to zero,...and then continue PAST zero until the controller thinks that IT is at 0...at that point the controller and mainstage are in agreement, and things work fine....so bascially, the keyboard thinks the level is at max...but mainstage thinks the level is at 1pm.
i am using Logic 9, and i have a macbook pro 2.9 Ghz I7 with 8 gigs of memory and OS X 10.8.4
