Intermitent connection of Apple Ipad and laptop to...
New member, so please excuse me if this subject has been covered in the many posts.
I have been using the BT HH1 for about 6 years and have a desk top using the ethernet cable. Connected my daughters IPad about 5 months ago. Also I have two ther laptops (Dell) that are connected. All working well until Christmas when one of the laptops could not connect to the HH1 ( but was able to identify it through a search) and neither could the Ipad. The other laptop (Dell) was ok. the Ipad,like the laptop, could identify the HH1 as a connection but not able to connect. Switched off the HH 1 at the mains and and then switch on again. All working ok whein I did this. As soon as all PC's and laptop were switched off and left overnight reconnection was not possible, althrough the ethernet was ok. Switched off (using the mains only) the HH1 and reconnected the HH1(using the mains) and all working again. Can't keep doing this !!!!!! Spoke with BT help desk who put me on a higher channel speed but the problem has not gone away. Spoke to Apple who said it was the router. Lots of comments about this problem with various versions of the BT HH, but no answers other than switch off and on. Anyone any ideas ?????????
It sounds like a faulty home hub 1, as they do suffer from faulty power units and failing wireless.
The first thing to try is a factory reset, by pressing and holding in the "wireless association" button for about 20 seconds.
This will restart the home hub, and reload the default config file, which can get corrupted.
It also worth making sure that you set the wireless encryption to WPA, as the default on the home hub 1 is WEP, which is very easily hacked into by other users.
Also some wireless adapters do not work very well with WEP.

I have apple account/password on laptop but can't use the same ID etc on new Ipad. On my account it says ID is only for 1 system. I really want only one ID for both Ipad and laptop.

I just purchased an Apple TV. I have a pc running windows 7. It is connected to a router and the router is connected to a wireless router. I connect my iPhone, iPad and apple tv to wireless network but do not know how to put the pc on the wifi network so the Apple TV can do home share.
I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open. It also needs to be on the same network. My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not. He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band. Hope this helps.

AirPlay isn't anything to do with homesharing. (Home sharing lets you share the iTunes libraries on computers)
Basic AirPlay: Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Mirroring: When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Restart your mobile device. -
Trouble syncing ipad and laptop
I get the following message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system sevices.
I have logged into iTunes with the same account on both the iPad and laptop.

Who do I talk to at Apple. When I bought my ipad and laptop nobody asked me if I wanted to join the Apple training system yearly. I understand you can only sign up when you buy them but was not aware of that and was not asked.

I presently have a Blackberry, IPAD and laptop.
I have signed up to mobile me in an effort to synchronise my diaries, contacts, etc but am unaware if the Blackberry is causing the problem. Can I get just the laptop and IPAD to sync using mobile me and if so, how?

MobileMe does not support Blackberry. If you are using Bluetooth on your Blackberry, turn that off if it's in range of your iPad.
In order to sync your MobileMe account with your iPad, you need to sync first with your computer.
Connect your iPad to your PC. Launch iTunes. Make sure iTunes recognizes the iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Select the Info tab from the menu. Select the Address Book Contacts / Calendars / Mail Accounts. Click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

I have just deleted over 6,000 emails from my ipad and laptop leaving about 100 old emails and my ipad is still saying I am using 3.7 GB of space for my emails. How can I fix this?
do a reboot. press and hold both the home and sleep buttons intil you see the apple logo. ignore the red slider. Also, make sure the mail app is fully closed. doulbe tap to see the task bar, then swipe up on the mail app.

I have an original iPad 32 why can't I connect on my home wi-fi but can connect anywhere else? No problems at home connect with other iPads and MACs.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

You're music can be downlooaded (if it was purchased using iTunes) have you signed into your account in iTunes on the new laptop?
If the music was not purchased from iTunes and you are using iTunes Match you can also download it. If you are not using iTunes Match music that was not purchased from iTunes is gone. -
After moving from my home country (Poland) to the Middle East (UAE) with the same computer I can not get connected to Apple Store and iTunes Store. Any clue why?

I am trying to connect to apple support and it keeps asking me to put in the SN of my MAC and when i do it says that the SN is invalid I am putting in the SN from about this mac and it is the same as the one on the bottom of the MAC any ideas ?
Did you purchase this product direct from Apple online, in an Apple Store, or through a third-party authorized reseller? Or did you buy it from an original owner whose Applecare plan was supposed to be transitioned to a new owner, by them?
Do you have an original shipping carton the unit arrived in?
If the product was a retail 'open carton' purchase and no
back-track is possible, contact the reseller.
And if the computer had seen a major service with logic
board replaced, etc, it may have other issues with serial
number vs one they may have assigned it. Usually a
new logic board may have the SN flashed or if a unit
was determined to be a reman, a new # assigned. But
that would appear in System Profiler, if officially reman.
If you registered a product anywhere with Apple, it would show on a web page along with its serial numbers, going back several years, at this page after you log in there.

ive just moved out and have just been connected to talk talk broadband today. Both my ipad mini and iphone are saying they are connected to wifi but only my iphone will connect to online services where my ipad mini won't. But if i disconnect my iphone from wifi then my ipad will work online and then when trying to connect my iphone back to wifi that won't work with online services. is this because they are both using the same apple account? though when i was living at home my mum had sky router and i was able to connect both devices with no problem. is there anyway of connecting both devices so they work online at the same time??
There is absolutely no reason why they should not bothe be able to connect to your WiFi network. The easiest place to start would be to reboot your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. I would also restart both the iPad and the iPhone.
