Intermittent audio "hiccup"

I downloaded two streaming video apps to the ipod touch 4g 32gb.
air video player
airplayer
they work by taking a video in my library and converting it live and then streaming the video to my ipod touch over the wifi connection.
I must have closed the program at a weird spot. Anyways, there is a very weird bug. From time to time in random intervals, but averaging about once every 30 minutes, I will hear a snippet of audio from one of the videos. It is very short, a second at most.
I have updated the firmware to the latest. The firmware update is 600+ mb so I presume that is about the same as doing a full reinstall of software. I have killed all running programs. I have deleted the backup. I have done everything short of wiping the device comlpletely.
Any idea?

If you plug in headphones into the headphones port do the audio problems persist? I'd like to know if the issue seems to be isolated to the speakers, or to the soundchip and/or sound software.
P.S. Please note, that the iMac (Flat Panel) is actually an iMac G4. The iMac G5 posts you make in the future, please post in this forum:

  • Intermittant Audio Stream

I have noticed intermittant audio stream since I have had my computer. Whenever, I watch a video track or and audio track such as Apple Tips of the Week, the audio comes out broken and interrupted, not smooth audio or the voice output does not match up with the indivivdual speaking the words. I always thought this may had to do with the internal speed of the processor. I have been dealing with this so long that I finally decided to ask the Discussion Group about it.
    Any ideas?

  • Intermittent Audio Problems

I recently started having intermittent audio cut off on my IMac G5 which is 6 months old. All audio to inclue iTunes stops for no apparent reason. This even happens when I am just listening to iTunes and performing no other tasks. Sometimes requires multiple reboots to fix. I checked audio output setting and it's 44100.0 Hz as recommended. Sometimes audio will restart without a reboot. Machine has 1.5G RAM and I do not use it for anything exotic or heavy duty.
Am using a USB hub with printer, scanner and external hard drive attached. Tried disconnecting all, but problem still recurs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Intermittent Audio Compression

Shot with a Canon camera and converted the clips to Pro-res.  The clips play fine on their own but when put into a project timeline there are intermittent audio issues throughout the clips - the closest I can describe it is heavy compression, eg. a CD is ripped at 192kbps and then suddenly the audio drops down to 24kbps. It continues on and off for the whole 72min. and then the last 10 minutes are perfectly fine.  Any help would be really appreciated!!

Derdav - different cameras use different codecs so to begin with, please name the exact Canon camera, is it a DSLR or a camcorder or a Cinema camera such as a C300, etc.  What codec?
Also, upon importing did you select to seperate mono, or combine stereo, etc.?  When you have the clip in your storyline, if you select it and look in the inspector (command 4 to show inspector if it isn't showing) under the audio tab, what is it showing?
To take a shot at ideas, which is not the most efficient way to start, I'm wondering if you recorded a line feed from a source, like a mixer into one or both channels, or if you're talking about a camcorder and just on-board camera mic?  Phasing issues can cause an effect like you're describing, or really I have no idea - need some help with more specific info.
Thanks for anything else you can provide about your setup.

  • TS3623 AppleTV 2nd gen intermittent audio content out.

My second generation AppleTV plays all content great to my Toshiba LED TV, but content out to the soundbar is intermittent.  iTune movie "Let Me In" doesn't but "The Replacements" works perfect and so on.  Same thing with Netflicks.  But my Blueray player using netflicks works perfect on every tittle from netflicks.  I have tested all four HDMI ports with the same result.  The AppleTV is dissapointing at this point.  Any Ideas?  Oh, the sound bar is the Polk Audio 3000.

I have two HDTV's bought in the last 2 years and see no option on either to upscale.
Your HDTVs panels will be fixed resolution - if the input signal differs the TVs have to up/downscale accordingly.
AppleTV 1 allows you to set resolution from 480p/576p through to 1080i/p under Settings.
If your TV is 1080p and you output 720p from AppleTV, the TV upscales automatically.
If the TV has a 720p panel, but accepts a 1080p input from an AppleTV 1 it will downscale.
For what it's worth I much prefer my AppleTV 1's. I too feel there's something subjectively worse about video quality on 2, menus in particular look rough edged/pixellated compared to 1- the output may just be sharper (or non anti-aliased menus) than gen 1.
AppleTV2 definitely buffers/navigates faster and with more responsiveness, but the interface is not as polished as ATV1 and some features are still missing compared to 1 - early days though for ATV2, so I hope software updates will remedy some of these. Having recently read something about possible ATV2 revision with better CPU however, I wonder if it will have the same lifespan software upgrade wise as gen 1 did, though being iOS based this may help apart from hardware dependent things.

The point was that I found the ATV1 to be better than the ATV2, IMO of course.

  • Strange intermittent audio distortion when sending bluetooth audio

I have a 2010 Macbook Air and I am using it to send audio via Bluetooth to my stereo via a Belkin Music Receiver (http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=508754).
Up until a few days ago, everything was working perfectly.
All of a sudden, I am having an intermittent problem where one minute the audio will sound fine, and then the next minute it will sound distorted and staticy. The only way to correct the problem is to disable the bluetooth audio and then re-enable it.
I actually happen to have two of the Belkin units, and I'm having the same problem with both of them, suggesting it is NOT an issue with the Belkin unit.
I am wondering if perhaps a recent Apple software update might be causing a problem...or something else....
Has anyone had a problem like this?

How does it sound when you just playback the Timeline? If that works OK, have you tried recording on the DSR-20 during Timeline playback? Or are you only using the Print to Video command?
If Timeline playback also has the problem, try exporting a self-contained movie from FCP, then import that file into a new project - then try recording on the DSR-20 again.

  • How do I correct video/audio hiccups?

Video and Audio are hiccupping. Is this a simple settings fix or do I need a Genius to take a look? This is during streaming videos from Netflix or other sites. Is it a networking issue or internal audio/video?

Are you dragging the videos on existing composition?
Delete all compositions in project panel.
Then drag the footage into timeline, the composition  will automatically take the dimensions of footage.
Alternatively, select the clip and press ctrl+alt+F. it will snap the footage to the composition dimension.
    Hope it helps.

  • Intermittant audio static/distortion when streaming video

New member seeking solution to an annoying problem. When
streaming video sites such as Youtube, MSN videos, and other video
sites, the audio has intermittent static, much like a radio station
that isn't fully tuned in. I have a laptop with an external sound
card, and it does it through it hooked to a small stereo system, as
well as the laptop's built-in soundcard and speakers. I have
updated the Flash player, and tried completely uninstalling and
reinstalling the sound drivers. Next thing, I am going to totally
uninstall Adobe Flash and try reinstalling it to see if it takes
care of the problem. By the way, it does it with both Internet
Exploder and Firefox. Any suggestions are welcome.
    Sincerely,
    John

The same thinks happens to me,
    Thank you.

  • Streaming iTunes to Airport Express - Audio Hiccups

I have a Netgear wireless router connected to my PC, and, at the other end of the house, a Hawking Range Extender.  My Airport Express syncs with the range extender so that I can access my iTunes library on the PC and play through my sound system (where the Express is located).  I am using the Airport Utility on my iPad to access and play from iTunes.  All signals are strong, but when iTunes is streaming there is a "hiccup" every 10-15 seconds in the audio.  This is a very momentary pause.  Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, were yoiu able to resolve it?

you can only stream music to an airport express if you have selected that network from your list under the airport icon at the top of your screen... so if you have selected your itunes network then you obviously can't also be part of another wireless network to use the internet. The only way to do this is to make your itunes network a part of the network which is used to access the web. Airport express has profiles which enable you to setup multiple settings so when you take your airport into the office, reconfigure the airport using airport admin and have it 'join' your office network and make sure you give it the same network name as your office one. Then from your airport network list select the name and you will be able to both listen to music and surf.

  • Intermittent Audio Drop-offs with Airtunes to Apple TV

A number of other threads have similar problems. iMac 2.8 GHz iTunes 8.1 is connect to an updated ATV via new dual-channel ABS on the "n" band. Still there are audio drop offs with AirTunes as it did with the previous ABS Extreme n and previous version of iTunes. So much so, I just gave up and used the Apple Remote on the iPhone to play ATV. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Switching from WEP to WPA/WPA2 personal seems to have totally cured the dropouts for me.
Also I used an old flying saucer Airport as the receiver via ethernet out for my entreatment center instead of using the AppleTV's wireless.
Also I had a Panasonic security cam that didn't support WPA so I used another flying saucer Airport via ethernet out as its receiver.
    So now my setup is,
Airport Extreme in my home office as my main base station with a Motorola ADSL 2200 router feeding it internet.
Flying saucer Airport via ethernet and a hub feeding my AppleTV, DirecTV DVR, and a Mac mini.
Another flying saucer Airport via ethernet feeding my Panasonic security cam.
Airport Express for my bedroom speakers.
All airports are in bridge mode with the Motorola 2200 DSL modem acting as my router. (this seems to be the only way my Vonage adapter recovers without having to be reset if my DSL goes down)
I steam music from my 17" Macbook Pro to the AppleTV and Bedroom speakers all day now without any dropouts.

  • Intermittent audio using AirPort wirelessly

I have the AirPort Express set to join my existing wirless network and have audio playing but it is interrupted frequently as if it were waiting for data transmission then resumes. Like a buffering problem but I can't find anywhere to increase a buffer on any of the connected equipment. Itunes shows music stops then restarts in the now playing progress chart. Music plays fine thru my laptop also connected wirelessly. Tried connecting using seperate wireless bridge then connected to AirPort via ethernet with same result. Again that connection to laptop works fine. Itunes is 7.0.0.7 and firmware version is 6.3.

Thanks LaPastenague for the immediate response.
I do not have a wired connection to the TC. Unfortunately TC is kept at a place from where a wired connection is not possible to check.
I dont have a modem. The WAN Cable is directly connected to the TC. Its the only router I have.
I haven't yet contacted Apple Support yet, but will contact them during the weekend. I am not having an issue with the Wireless. It shows as connected & am able to access the TC Hard Disk without any issues. Its only the Internet Connection which drops even though the Light on the TC is green.
Am not around the TC at the moment, so will be able to check for the ipv6 once i am back home in a few hrs time.
    Thank You

  • Intermittent audio buzz when recording with power adapter

While running my 13" Unibody MacBook Pro on the power adapter, I get an regularly pulsing buzz that affects audio recorded in through my Griffin iMic. There's a sample of the buzzing I recorded at http://drp.ly/lmd8R - it starts halfway through it. The buzzing starts a few seconds after plugging in the power adapter and stops a few seconds after plugging it in. The power adapter is grounded and the cord is separated from the audio cords. Any help would be appreciated.

Are the Mac and all of the connected devices plugged into the same grounded UPS or outlet strip?
When I had a similar problem I ended up having a very serious electrical wiring problem in my house–a poor earth-neutral bond in my case. You may want to have a professional electrician check things out.

  • New Zen Vision:M Intermittent Audio Dropo

I have a new Zen Vision:M which has started to exhibit audio dropouts. The player will be working fine, but then without warning, the audio will drop out in one or both earpieces. I can see from the screen that the player is still operating, but the audio has failed. Turning the player on and off two or three times will restore the audio, allowing the earphones and their connection to the player to be ruled out as the source of the problem.
If anyone else has experienced this problem and solved it, please let me know.
    Thanks very much.
    Sincerely,
    Ron

Have you tried switching head phones. That may be the issue.

  • Intermittent Audio Dropout - CPU Load?

I recently purchased a new MINI (2.3, i5, 2GB RAM) and I am totally disappointed with the performance.  Specifically, I am fed up with the terrible audio stability.  I have a MOTU Ultralite MK3 Hybrid and generally use the Firewire interface, but this problem also happens when I'm just using the internal audio.  I've never experienced this before on any of the MINIs I've had (this is my third) nor on my old G4.  Now, on what should be the best of the lot, I can hardly stand to listen to anything while trying to do anything else on the computer.  Even simple things like opening a JPG in Preview causes the audio to cut out when the file is being opened.  Virtually every move interferes with the audio and causes a dropout.  It is worst of all when using any kind of browser and trying to have a YouTube video play in the background while surfing on another tab.  I used ot be able to do this all the time without dropouts on my last Mini, but this thing seems to have a serious CPU bottle neck and I don't know where to even begin to try to find out what's going on.  I'm really heart broken by this because I am not working and spent money I can't afford to replace my last computer and now I'm stuck with this junky thing that can't even play an MP3 and open a JPG at the same time.  It's like the whole process of dealing with multiple threads has been trashed somehow.  What happened with these new MINIs?  Am I the only person having this problem?  Why can't my computer deal with ANY kind of multitasking without crapping out on the audio?  It shouldn't be like this.  It wasn't like this before.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thanks,
    Ugo.

Well, if that is the case, I can't say how disappointed I am with Lion.  When you say "all the tasks", let me clarify and say that I'm not trying to run 10 things at once (although I used to be able to do that).  The best examply is simply playing an audio file while trying to open a JPG in Preview.  Is it really pushing the system to expect the audio to be undisturbed by the act of simply opening an image file in a small, basic application like Preview?  Is 2 GB of RAM really too little to do something so simple?
RAM isn't all that cheep for someone who doesn't have an income, so, before I go spending that money, I need to know that it is going to address the problem and I am not sure that RAM really is the problem given that the issue is occuring under such simple, (theoretically) non-taxing circumstances.

  • IMovie 10.0.2 intermittent audio export issue

Exported a movie from iMovie 10.0.2. Uploaded to Funny or Die: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/8ada0e18d8/shock-a-russian-episode-1
Audio is fine (bad quality is intentional) when link is played on desktop. Audio is not fine when link is played on a mobile device. One should hear a shutter sound, then "This is Rosemary Heffernan."  Can hear all of that on desktop. On mobile devices, only the overlayed audio tracks are audible and the actor's main audio is missing, so on mobile one can hear shutter sound but not "This is Rosemary Heffernan." What the??
FOD says issue is with the uploaded file, yet that uploaded file plays fine at times, as described above. I have more editing/uploading to do, but pausing until I can understand how to resolve this issue.
    Any ideas? Thank you!

ugh. Did my question not post? Sorry! Having iMovie related audio playback issue on mobile device but not on desktops. Realizing I may have exported in a format that is too HD for mobile playback. Does that sound right?
