Intermittent Audio Thru Wireless Speakers

I am running a Mac Mini and all of the audio goes to wireless speakers. Wireless audio streaming device is a USB connection - one into back of Mac Mini and one into the back of the wireless speaker.
Audio works perfectly but after a while just cuts out. Solve the problem by adjusting the volume up (on the remote control or on computer) and after a few seconds the audio is there again. To be lost a few minutes later. Sometimes it fixes itself without touching any volume control. This occurs whether I am running music through iTunes or watching TV through EyeTV.
Had issue even before new upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Wondering if this is a MacMini issue or a wireless speaker issue?
Thanks. Miles

When I first set up the AudioEngine5 speakers I bought an Airport Express and used Airfoil. As you mentioned there is a very noticeable lag between the audio and video (a few seconds) on any video application whether it be TV through your PC or a DVD through your PC (which I use both).
The solution was to get rid of the Airport Express and Airfoil and order Audioengine's W1 (AW1) Premium Wireless Audio Adapter - see their website. One adapter plugs into the PC's USB slot and the other plugs into the speaker. Similar to a Bluetooth wireless connection - same principle. The range is pretty good and there is no lag between the video and audio signals whether you are watching a DVD or TV on your PC.
I am very happy with the overall Audioengine5 set-up. Value for money the speakers are very reasonable for what you get. The adapters up the price a bit but to get rid of amplifiers and wires, and have the PC as your hub for everything this is a great solution.

  • No audio thru tv speakers prob!!! please help!!!

i am tryin g to listen to just music no video thru my tv speakers i have a 42" panasonic plasma tv. i have the new 5th gen video 60gb ipod with dock. i plugged the old ibook a/v cable into the line out port on the dock and put my ipod in the dock and connected an s-video cable to the s-vdieo out port on the dock and then connected those cables to my tv in the corresponding ports on video 2 slot on my tv. and i turned the tv to video 2 setting, but how do i hear music thru the tv speakers i turned the volume uip all the way and the volume is up on my tv too but sstill no sound. i can play videos fine and hear the muisic fine. please help me thanks in advance!!! take care all~

Based on a posting I saw elsewhere, I think that the
iPod will output only audio from video sources, not
from music sources, through a 3-wire AV mini-plug
cable (which connects to three RCA plugs). But it
should output audio from both video and music sources
    through a 2-wire stereo mini-plug cable (which
connects to two RCA plugs). If I read it right you
are using only the two audio plugs on the AV cable
and are using the S-video connection for the video.
So it may work if you instead use a 2-wire stereo
cable instead of a 3-wire AV cable to connect the
dock to the TV. (The Monster iTV Link cable,
available at the Apple Store and elsewhere, provides
both the S-video connections and the stereo audio
    connections in one cable.)
I've been able to get audio from my music files to play on the TV with version 1.0 of the iPod OS. I don't know about 1.1 (you can check my other posting about that). I used the Apple's AV jack connection and it worked just fine.

  • Airplay - Video to TV and audio to wireless speakers.

My house is Apple House...  MAC Pros, iPads, iPods, Iphones, Apple TV, etc...for every member of our family.  I have a choice between moving away from Apple to Sonos for audio or make Airplay work logically.  Which is streaming audio to speakers when needed.  Practically, video to TV and audio to speakers.  Therefore, is there anyone at Apple or in the user community who would know how to get this done.  Isn't this only common sense?  Your thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks Vazandrew.  I have already tried without success.  As soon as video streams from the Macpro to the AppleTV to the TV, the Airplay compatible speakers go silent.  There must be a small setup detail I'm missing.  I'll keep on trying.  Thanks for your reply.

  • ITunes 10 won't play movie audio thru remote speakers

I just downloaded a movie and wanted to play the audio through my remote speakers. No sound. iTunes will play music files on the remote speakers, just not movies. Could anyone help me? I'd like to show clips of the movie to my students tomorrow!!

that's expected behavior. you can currently only stream audio from music files via AirPlay.

to do that, you need Airfoil. however, also check this: _*Preventing audio delays while watching videos with Airfoil*_.

  • Does airport express stream directly to wireless speakers or does it need to be connected through an audio cable to an amplifier before the speakers

Does airport express stream directly to wireless speakers or does it need to be connected through an audio cable to an amplifier before the speakers?

I got an additional question bout this topic:
is it possible to use both at the same time? in my case cable-connected speakers in the living-room and an Airplay-speaker in the bathroom and/or kitchen?
so I select the Airport Express as Airplay-Output on my iPad and from there it's shared via cable AND wireless? this would solve the problem of being able to only select ONE Airplay-Output on my iPad at the same time...

  • Why did apple stop selling carbon audio's zooka bluetooth wireless speakers?

I saw this very interesting Bluetooth speaker from Carbon Audio called Zooka in Apple store few weeks back, but I was still trying to make up my mind about it, but to my surprise this model siezed to exit on the online store, and all searches aggersively point me to other models when I insist on searching for it by name.
Question: why did apple stop selling carbon audio's zooka bluetooth wireless speakers?  Is there something wrong with it, or is it one of thse commercial disputes that I dont need to know about, and I'm good to look for it elsewhere.

I just got this reply back fron Carbon Audio's help Desk if anyone's interested:
Apple had an issue with our labeling, forcing us to recall all of our product to relabel it. That process is complete and Apple will be restocking their shelves very shortly."

  • How can I connect a audio cassette player to my MBPro to play thru its speakers?

I would like to play my audio cassette  thru my MBPro.
    How can I connect it?
    Thanks for your help.
    Vernon

You are correct.  However, after asking my first question and received your reply, I replied with a second request because my audio cassette player went to the shop and I now wanted to know about a vcr connection.
And, I have tried your suggestion for the vcr but it did not work for me!! ;-(
I doubled checked my audio settings in System Preferences to make sure I was using the external mic connection and not the internal mic connection.  Also, I double checked my audio cables and "y" adapters to go from R-L audio output to mini Jack Y-cable and all are working just fine.
But I do not hear audio thru my MBPro. :-(
Do you have any other suggestion or question that might help?
I do appreciate your suggestions and especially your replying to my requests for help.
    Thanks again.
Oh yes, I need to head to bed since we are on CDT.  So, I will not be able to reply to you until Thursday!

  • Can connect wireless speakers to my airport express

im looking to have 2 aiport express units in my house, one for the kitchen area and one for the bedroom/bathroom. i understand i will not be able to stream 2 different playlists through the 2 different airports at the same time, is that correct?
if i have wireless speakers can i stream music to both the bathroom and the bedroom from one airport?
and finally, i have an apple mac, other than that, and aquiring the APE, is there anything else i need to buy, apple-wise, that i will need to make this work?(other than speakers of course)
thanks for your help in advance

That is correct. You cannot stream different iTunes playlist to separate AirPlay speakers. You can, however, stream the same playlist to multiple AirPlay speakers simultaneously.
if i have wireless speakers can i stream music to both the bathroom and the bedroom from one airport?
Unless these "wireless speakers" are AirPlay-enabled, then I believe the answer is no. That is because the speaker would have to be physically connected to the AirPort Express via the appropriate audio cable to receive the stream from the base station.
and finally, i have an apple mac, other than that, and aquiring the APE, is there anything else i need to buy, apple-wise, that i will need to make this work?(other than speakers of course)
Basically, you just need an iTunes server (iTunes host computer or iOS device) and an AirPlay speaker (AirPort Express, Apple TV, or other dedicated AirPlay devices from other manufacturers) to stream. What you currently have should do the trick.

  • Can I use apple tv to play music via wireless speakers?

Can I use apple tv to play music via wireless speakers without turning the tv on, or do I also need to purchase airport express device?

Well, this is a C&P from your link:
With Apple AirPlay and Audio Pro Wireless you can stream iTunes playlists and songs from your Mac, iPad and iPhone wirelessly to Living speakers or RX100 receivers anywhere in your home. Just connect our transmitter to an Airport Express and select your Airport Express unit as sound device on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Now let the music flow.

  • Multiple wireless speakers

Can I connect multiple sets of wireless speakers to 1 Airport Express or do I have to have a Airport express for every pair of wireless speakers?

You have to connect an audio cable from the audio port on the AirPort Express to something like an amplifier or powered speaker setup.
How were you planning to connect the speakers to an amplifier or receiver?

  • HT202213 Can I use my I mac through my I pod to use on Wireless speakers?

Can I use my I mac though my Ipod to wireless speakers like Logitech and Bose in other areas of my house

Possibly. With iOS 4.3 and later, you can stream audio from third-party apps, like Pandora Radio, installed on your iPhone ONLY if the developer for the app has added AirPlay functionality. I did a quick review of this app from the Apple App Store and it did not mention having this feature.

  • Airport express /  wireless speakers  /  time capsule

I use Time Capsule for my home network and backups. I'd like to be able to have wireless speakers I can move around the inside and outside of my house.
Is AirPort express the way to go?
Will using it create conflicts with my Time Capsule?
Any recommendations on wireless speakers to use? The speakers need to be battery powered also.

Is AirPort express the way to go?
Yes, the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) would be one way to provide wireless capability to self-powered speakers that is portable.
Will using it create conflicts with my Time Capsule?
The primary issue will be with sharing bandwidth. Streaming audio and performing backups simultaneously will affect the overall bandwidth available. This can show up as either "slower" backups or skips in audio playback.
Any recommendations on wireless speakers to use? The speakers need to be battery powered also.
Sorry, don't actually have any myself. Here appears one source to check out: BatteryPowered Speakers.com

  • IMacG5 (non-Intel) - Pandora via Airport Express to wireless speakers?

Is it possible to use access to Pandora to pump music through Airport Express to wireless speakers?

    Hi roquinman,
    Hows it going?
I think your may be looking for a program like airfoil. It will let you send any audio from your computer to an airport express. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/airfoil.html
