Intermittent horizontal line(s) appearing on screen
Greetings,
3 month old MBP
I'm getting horizontal line(s) showing up on the screen running the width of the open window. I've seen them mostly in Mail but also in Safari and Finder. The line is a pixel width thick. Sometimes it stops before reaching the edge of the window.
Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm suspecting a hardware problem but it is a difficult one to diagnose / prove given it is hard to reproduce in a consistent manner.
Thanks,
Rod
I reinstalled Leopard from scratch to help eliminate software as the issue. After re-installation, there were still problems especially with graphics intensive apps. Returned the unit to my local Apple repair. They replaced the logic board under warranty and I have not seen the horizontal lines on the screen since then.

A permanent horizontal line has appeared on my screen and I cannot seem to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
You have the technicians at an Apple store genius bar examine your MBA and determine the cause and possible remedy. Make an appointment.
Ciao.
It is probably a GPU or display issue.

recently there has been a turquoise/ red horizontal line that appeared on my screen. i turned my iPod off but the line appeared again after about 5 minutes...how do i get rid it?
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that indicates that you have a hardware porblem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. -
Laptop suddenly had horizontal lines running across the screen
Suddeenly horizontal lines appreared across the screen .
I have shut down and started up the computer numerous times and it does not go away .
It also affects the graphics and text on the screen .
If I cannot fix should I have the computer cleaned and set back to factory standard and how do i do that /
Thanks2 possibilities:
1. The video chip (motherboard) has gone bad; or,
2. Just the screen has gone bad.
Connect the computer to an external monitor and see if the lines appear on it. If so, it is #1.
It is doubtful that restoring the laptop to factory specs will have any effect on the isue either way but if you want to do that you can tap F11 as you power up to enter factory reset. -

40 inch Samsung LCD White Horizontal lines running up the screen constantly
My brand new Samsung 40 inch tv (purchased in mid-December) has white horizontal lines running up the screen constantly. From what I heard, the electricity in my house my not be grounded, but no other tv in my house does this, so I doubt this is the case. Has anybody else had this issue and is it too late to return the tv? Thanks.
Does it do it on other sources like a DVD? If so you may have a TV problem. Have you tried to do a factory reset or restore? Have you tried plugging it into an outlet in a different part of the house? As a last resort have you tried taking it back to the store and see if it works there? Also have you tried a filter on the AC plud in? Just some suggestions to try and help you out.

HT2807 why is there a horizontal line across my imac screen?
why is there a horizontal line across my imac screen?
Not sure exactly which model your iMac is..?
see > How to identify iMac models
Sadly display lines generally indicate a problem with either the Display or the Graphic's Chip.
To check, take a screen shot of the display using the (Command Shift 3) keys and open it.
If the line is only seen on the Display and not in a screen shot, then it would most likely indicate a Display problem.
If the line shows up in a screen shot, then it would most likely indicate a Graphic's Ciip problem. -

There is a thin horizontal line running across the width of my screen about 1/4 of the way from the bottom. This line, along with an occasional vertical line about a 1/3 of the way from the right side of my monitor, started appearing about 7 days ago. Usually the line would disappear after a restart but now it seems intent on staying. Does anyone know what is going on and how can I resolve this?

Thin black horizontal lines on 24" iMac screen/transparent dock icons
I have a 24" 3.06 GHz iMac (purchased in August 2008) and noticed after about a half hour of running basic programs (Mail, iTunes, Firefox) I start to get horizontal lines near the top and bottom of my screen. Then if I watch a full screen video I can see my dock icons look almost transparent through the video. I took my iMac into the Apple store last month and told them about it and they kept it for 3 days and ran their "tests" and stressed the computer out to get it to do it for them but they couldn't replicate the problem. They suggested that it might be my cordless phone is too close to the screen and the frequency of the cordless phone could be causing the problem but I tried moving the phone and it still does it. When the display is off for hours and I turn it back on the lines are not there, but once I have it on for a half hour they come back and don't go away until I power off or sleep the display. I've attached a few pics of what I'm experiencing. Thank you very much.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/xxbrankxx/IMG_0090.jpgSince the Apple Store folks could not replicate the problem, you may want to consider a cause that is part of your particular environment.
For example, if you use a power strip (surge suppressor), what else is connected to the same power strip? Is it possible that you may have too many power-hungry devices connected to the same single wall outlet, and the iMac is not getting sufficient power? Or maybe it's some electrical interference with another device on the same circuit? As a test, try disconnecting everything else, and see if the problem recurs, or connect the iMac directly to a wall outlet by itself to see if the problem recurs.
Try moving the iMac to a different location in your home and running it to see if the problem recurs. -

Thanks.hi angryone.
usually green lines points that you are having ram or graphic card ( could be also converter cable issue )
can you check if your ram sticks working fine? you can also try to remove/replace?swap the ram sticks and use one of each time to check if it is ram issue.
if it doesn't help, i'm sorry to say that but you will need hardware support so i suggest you to contact lenovo support line.
hope this helps. -

Horizontal lines at top of screen - Satellite A100
Horizontal lines appear at the top of my A100 after using the picture preview slideshow or any photoshop programme. They can be removed when the desktop picture is changed.
The laptop was purchased in April this year. GeoffIts not easy to say why it happens you could try to reinstall the display driver and could check if the same appears on the external monitor.
If the same will be not visible on the external monitor, then you should contact the technician because the chances are that the internal TFT display could be faulty!
But note; this is only my suggestion and as you know all we here in the forum can speculate only about the issues
Maybe the issue will not appear after the new OS installation with the recovery CD
