Intermittent issues with Matlab Script in LV2012

I'm having some intermittent issues with the Matlab Script in LV2012. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and my Matlab is 2013 64-bit. I've tried the suggestion here:

I tried this but it didn't work for me.

In one of my .vi's if I change 2 of the 3 input variables to the complex type, it works. It seems to be insensitive to the data type of the first input variable. In another .vi this trick doesn't work at all. The fix given in the link is to update the .dll, but this seems to be old news as the .dll in my directory is newer than the one referenced in this link.
The other funny thing is these scripts worked fine on Friday afternoon, but were throwing this error this morning. I've closed and reloaded both Labview and Matlab, but that didn't fix the issue.
Are there any new fixes for this issue that I haven't been able to find?

Facing intermittent issue with findByAltKey api

We are facing an intermittent issue with findByAltKey while invoking from service in out code and so we want to understand the expected behavior of this api
the issue is we have an unposted row in the cache which we need to retrieve.So we are doing a findByAltKey and based on the alternate keys it should return the row,but it fails sometimes.
We noticed while debugging that one of the alternate key attributes that we have defined on our EO is "Name" and the value of name in the EntityCache is sometimes becoming null.As a result of this the alternatekey attributes we pass doesnt match the EO.getAltKey(index) and it in turn doesnt fetch the row.
This attribute "Name" is present both in the base table and the translation table and there is a view link from parent VO to the TL(translation) VO.
What we want to understand here is when we do a findByAltKey based on name ,from where does it gets the name from the base vo or translation vo? And is it because of this sometimes this value in the cache is null?
Can anyone please explain the above issue.

Intermittent issues with video output initialization

Hi Guys,
I have received a new (i5, 15') Mac-book Pro more than 9 months ago. About 6 months ago it started having some serious intermittent issues with video output. Those issues are numerous and different every time, but all seems to lead to GPU problem. In chronological order:
1)Started showing static colors as flickering and white color as blue.
2)Blue screens in bootcamp and hangs in mac os
3)Startup problems (fail to start)
4)Startup problems resolved with firmware patch, but video fails to initialize during startups:shows black on mac os, and distorted green during bootcamp.
So right now I am stuck with #4. The main issue is that it is intermittent - sometimes it starts to happen and sometimes it does not. Is there any way I can make apple replace the unit or the video-card? I did bring it to a apple certified service center, but they did not give any crap, even when I was able to demonstrate it to 2 people in there and gave me back the unit after failing to reproduce the problem on their own. I have all those problems in video and photos, but I don't see anywhere I could send them besides this forum.

No you cannot make Apple do anything. What you can do is call _Apple Customer Relations_ in your country. You can call AppleCare & ask politely & firmly to be transferred over to Customer Relations if there is no direct phone number like there is in the US. Relay to them what you stated in this post. See what they can do for you.

GUI issues with Matlab

Hi,
I noticed that when I invoke matlab code in my EDT of my GUI, it causes the GUI to repaint itself with blank buttons and changes its fonts. In order to resolve this issue, I realize that the matlab code would be the source of the issue and was causing a conflict with the affected java GUI components. Therefore, I invoked the matlab code before I instantiated the GUI. Eventually this led to an interesting out come. All the buttons are not the original default buttons provided by the Java gui framework. Even the text is not the same, the matlab affected text is blue and unbolded, whereas java has them by default bolded and black. What would it be about invoking matlab code that conflicts with java? If by chance this is relevant, I read somewhere that originally Matlab GUI framework is actually based off of java, however I am 90% certain that you can't package GUI applications with Matlab native code, its not supported by the Matlab Compiler Runtime (MCR) Environment. So I don't really understand how it affects it at all. Any ideas?

This sounds like it could be an issue with MATLAB®. They'll be able to provide more adequate support on their products.
If this is an issue with hardware, you could test out the driver using NI MAX and test panels. If that works, then it's possible that it's not a hardware issue.

Intermittent issues with SAP printing

Hi ALl, We have been having intermittent issues with printing (more specifically BOL printing) on both ECC production & Watre house production server recently. These issues occur at random hours and resolve themselves before the teams have had an opportunity to troubleshoot in detail. Also, both the Basis and hosting teams have analyzed the logs but haven’t reached a definite conclusion. Procedure used in printing: An outbound queue is created and processed in Warehouse Production and passed to ECC PRoduction. In ECC PRod an inbound queue is processed to update and trigger the shipment document. When the shipment document is completed it then triggers the print of the BOL output from the shipment. Then and only then is anything sent to the print queue. AND it will be with user id = ALEREMOTE. The other printing works fine. Any thought..will be highly obliged.. Regards, VIcky

Alignmnet Issues with SAP Script

Hi All i have an issue with SAP script i have few columns in the script where in the values in the column changes dynamically.For example the value of second column in the first row can be 5 characters and the value of the same in the 2nd row can be of 10 characters and it keeps varying for every row but the max length of it would be 20 characters.
Now the issues is with the second column as the text in this column keep varying the text in the same row after the second column keep moving either towards right or towards left depending on the text in the second column,Can any one help me as how can i fix this issue.

There is an intermittent issue with either Safari just closing suddenly (looking at other discussions, believe this is to do with the RAM - wish this had been mentioned in at least one review of iPad Air I investigated before purchasing) however the most irritating issue is this constant 'jumping' from whatever I'm reading to the App Store which has been just automatically opened on another tab.. App Store is either showing William Hill app (never looked at or downloaded this) or on some occasions, some random game app which again, I've never looked at or downloaded... (I've checked the pages I've been reading & none of these are pop-ups or ads on these pages either...)
Any ideas?

I have this issue too. I don't think it's a problem with anyone's iPad or iPhone, it's internet advertisers who have worked out how to automatically trigger sending a person to the App Store just by loading a web page. I've seen William Hill and various games come through on the App Store with this technique.
This could mean Apple have no protection in Safari for preventing redirects to the App Store without a user specifically triggering it (like the way pop-ups used to happen before pop-up blockers were invented). Although I suspect that Apple wouldn't be that blasé about that sort of thing. More likely I think is the advertisers are binding a page event like onscroll which shouldn't allow this but was perhaps overlooked by Safari's developers. Apple need to make an update to Safari to prevent anything but ontap/onclick events from opening the App Store.
You should perhaps consider banning apps on the App Store using this advertising technique. They'd soon start behaving if they thought their app could be de-listed!!!

Possible threadsafe issues using Matlab scripts?

Hi all,
I'm developing an application in Labview 6.1 that makes extensive use
of Matlab scripts. The application executes the same set of
scripts for multiple data sources, and keeps track of the inputs and
outputs for each data source separately. I've been noticing that
the application produces the correct results when running only one data
source, but that the results are often incorrect when I run it against
multiple data sources.
I've done some investigation, and have found that all Matlab scripts
share a common memory workspace in Matlab. That is to say that if
I have ScriptA that takes variable X as an input, and ScriptB that does
not, ScriptB nonetheless has access to variable X in its workspace
(from the last time ScriptA was called). This doesn't pose a
problem to me directly, but it has made me wonder if there are
potential threading issues in the scripts.
Consider the following scenario with one script and two data
sources. I'm wondering if this scenario is possible in Labview:
1. Thread1 calls ScriptA, passing data from SourceX.
2. During Matlab execution (somewhere in the middle), Thread1 is suspended.
3. Thread2 calls ScriptA, passing data from SourceY (data have the same variable names, since it's the same script).
4. Thread2 finishes ScriptA execution uninterrupted with SourceY data.
5. Thread1 is reactivated, but now the Matlab workspace data has
been replaced with SourceY. So, Thread1 started with SourceX
data, but finished with SourceY data.
6. An incorrect result for Thread1 is produced, because the wrong data was processed.
Clearly I could get around this problem with a semaphore, but first I'd
like to know if this scenario can even happen. Are Matlab scripts
treated as atomic operations in Labview, or can the threads be
suspended midway through execution?

No. LabVIEW will definitely not compile a VI while it's running - I think that would be, even conceptually, impossible. In fact, some properties (accessed via property nodes) are not editable at run-time for basically that reason, that a recompile would be necessary in order for the affect to take place, and the recompile can't take place at run-time!
It is indeed strange behavior, particularly because it is intermittent (which does hint at a threading issue, or some factor outside the development environment). Can you try moving the initialization to LabVIEW? I have attached an example of a so-called functional global variable (a simple code module in this case). It has two "states" (which are cases) - one is initialize and the other is the "usually executing case." The initialize case is used to initialize the shift register to an array of 50 doubles, where the other case will compute the running average, min, and max across the 50 most recent random numbers generated. The 50 data point code module.vi is the code module, and it is called by Use 50 data point code module.vi. When you run Use 50 data point code module.vi, be sure to toggle the initialize boolean so that the initialize case executes once to allocate and initialize an array with 50 elements; when you toggle it back then it will execute the other case on each iteration, and begin computing the statistics noted by keeping an array with the 50 most recent random data points generated.
I hope this helps and that you are able to incorporate a similar code module into your application to avoid the intermittent errant behavior!

Compiling VIs with Matlab scripts

Hi everyone,
I need to build application for a VI with some matlab scripts included in the block diagrams using the Matlab scripts node. I've been searching for related topics and I'm hoping someone can help me understanding the big picture here.
Background info: I'm using LV2012, Matlab 2013. I DON'T USE MathScript RT Module.
Question:
1. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC with Matlab software but no LabVIEW, do I just simply build the application in LabVIEW project?
2. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC wthout Matlab and LabVIEW, do I need to create a DLL from Matlab and modify my VI to use "Call library function node" and then build the application in LabVIEW project?

Yes, Assuming it is a windows machine and the Licensed version of Matlab is version 6.5 or later the LabVIEW Run-Time engine knows how to call the Matlab script server through Active X.
2. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC wthout Matlab and LabVIEW, do I need to create a DLL from Matlab and modify my VI to use "Call library function node" and then build the application in LabVIEW project?
You cannot use a Matlab math script node without a licensed version of Matlab 6.5 or later resident on the target and the target must support Active X so, Windows only.

Unable to log into iMessage and intermittent issues with FaceTime

Late 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.4. I'm an admin level Windows guy but a relatively new (and otherwise very pleased) convert to Mac OS.
This morning Messages started repeatedly prompting me for my iMessage password and FaceTime has starting working only intermittently. Both work fine from my iPad and iPhone 5. Both have been working from my MacBook Pro for months.
This morning when I tried to fire up Messages on the MacBook I got an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration". After doing some Googling, I noticed that many folks said that when they had this problem they also had an issue with FaceTime. I confirmed that FaceTime was indeed giving me the same error as iMessage. After trying some solutions from past threads that didn't work, I rebooted. Now instead of throwing an error, Messages just keeps asking me for my iMessage password again and again. FaceTime works occasionally but sometimes when I get a call and click answer, I get "call failed" as my iPhone and iPad continue to ring and then I'm asked to re-enter my password on the MacBook. If I enter my password it just sits and spins. If i quit FaceTime and start it again, it'll usually log in successfully but calls may or may not work (following the same pattern I just mentioned).
The odd thing to me is that when I tested FaceTime on my iPad, I got notifications on my iPad and iPhone and my primary and alternate email address were now registered with FaceTime. They have been for over a year so I'm not sure why I'm getting those notifications again.
I'm able to log into the Mac App store without a problem using the same AppleID
What I've tried so far based on Google results:
1. In Keychain Access, reset my default keychain - No improvement
2. In Keychain Access, selected Keychain First Aid, repaired and verified - No improvement
3. On my iPad, turned iMessage off and back on - No improvement, though iMessage on the iPad still works fine
4. Confirmed that my primary and secondary AppleID email addresses and password are correct. The email address associated with my AppleID is not associated with any other AppleIDs.

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
Step 4
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
Step 5
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
Step 6
Select from the menu bar
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
Close the preference pane.
Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
Step 9
Reset the NVRAM.
Step 10
Reinstall OS X.
Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

TS3899 Intermittent issue with sending emails from a blueyonder.co.uk email address.

The emails get delivered to my outbox with a message 'cannot send mail, recipient was rejected by the server' When the emails are in my outbox there is no means to delete them there the only way to remove them is to remove the full email account and reset it up again.

I have spoken to Virgin Media my email provider and they have walked me through removing the account and resetting it up again but to no avail. They have suggested I contact Apple as there appears to be something wrong with the email application on my phone for this particular email account.

Intermittent issue with Wifi network card.

Nothing can be more annoying than an intermittent issue. Unfortunately it does happen to my MBP. This is the new MBP purchase Jan. of this year. About 2 months ago, the MBP developes a problem. The sympotom is, after powering it on, the Wifi network card sometimes suddently stop working, even cannot be recognized by the system accidently. After the problem arise, I cannot turn on wifi again. The only way to get it back is to restart it. It used to work well with my home network and company network.
I have tried every possible mean to figure out what's wrong with it. Tried SMC reset, PRAM rest. Reinstall a new OS on a new partition (per instruction from Apple support). I hate to say this is a HW issue but support people from Apple did suggest sending it to a service center for a check up.
Before I actually dropping it at service center, I wanna know if someone has experienced that before?
Repeat, it used work well with my router.

Error 1050 with matlab script

Hi , i'v built an vi which sampling saving and playing audio files , i've also added matlab script for data analysis.
the script tested in matlab and in matlab works great , when im trying to use it in labview i'm getting an error while the matlab sciprt executing . "Error using griddedInterpolant ....."
i think that the error occures whe trying execute the command : "Sigitp = interp1(clptv, clpsig, tv, 'linear'); "
moreover i cant figure how to read the saved filed when the loop is finished.
I cant figure out what is the problem .

That's excellent! I believe that if you truly understand dataflow, you will see why your solution isn't the best one. ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. I put that in bold caps because we are here to help you understand and get better.

How to Fix " SIT compatability Issues With Matlab 7.1 (ex slbuild)"

Simulation Interface Toolkit 2.0 works fine with Matlab6.5(Real Time Workshop).
In Matlab7.0.4. and 7.1.0 Some of the RTW functions(slbuild) has been changed. This creats error (Error using (slbuild, rtw_c))when try to use SIT 2.0 with Matlab 7.1.
Is there any service pack for SIT 2.0 Or Is there any other way to fix this bug.
