Intermittent issues with video output initialization

Hi Guys,
I have received a new (i5, 15') Mac-book Pro more than 9 months ago. About 6 months ago it started having some serious intermittent issues with video output. Those issues are numerous and different every time, but all seems to lead to GPU problem. In chronological order:
1)Started showing static colors as flickering and white color as blue.
2)Blue screens in bootcamp and hangs in mac os
3)Startup problems (fail to start)
4)Startup problems resolved with firmware patch, but video fails to initialize during startups:shows black on mac os, and distorted green during bootcamp.
So right now I am stuck with #4. The main issue is that it is intermittent - sometimes it starts to happen and sometimes it does not. Is there any way I can make apple replace the unit or the video-card? I did bring it to a apple certified service center, but they did not give any crap, even when I was able to demonstrate it to 2 people in there and gave me back the unit after failing to reproduce the problem on their own. I have all those problems in video and photos, but I don't see anywhere I could send them besides this forum.

You are still under warranty. *Call AppleCare*

No you cannot make Apple do anything. What you can do is call _Apple Customer Relations_ in your country. You can call AppleCare & ask politely & firmly to be transferred over to Customer Relations if there is no direct phone number like there is in the US. Relay to them what you stated in this post. See what they can do for you.

Strange issue with cvs output

I have a report that works fine.
in the report I have the cvs enable output turned on.
when I click on the link to get the output and it opens in excel, all the columns are there, but one of the columns has the header but is blank on data. in the screen report its there, but not in cvs. has anyone see this type of issue before?

I have seen odd behavior like this, not this one exactly, when downloading reports to csv. I found that if the data in a column has certain characters, it would mess up the layout of the csv report. These characters were usually "non-printing" characters that were in a certain cell. The one that messed my report up was the character that indented the data within a cell. I also had intermittent issues with double quotes in the data and "soft" line breaks in the data (entered by pressing ALT-Enter key sequence in the original spreadsheet that we had uploaded). Open the csv file in an editor like Notepad++ or even MS Word. and see if you can figure out what is going on. Look carefully in the area where the discrepancies first apear; it could be coming from another cell.

Intermittent issues with SAP printing

Hi ALl, We have been having intermittent issues with printing (more specifically BOL printing) on both ECC production & Watre house production server recently. These issues occur at random hours and resolve themselves before the teams have had an opportunity to troubleshoot in detail. Also, both the Basis and hosting teams have analyzed the logs but haven’t reached a definite conclusion. Procedure used in printing: An outbound queue is created and processed in Warehouse Production and passed to ECC PRoduction. In ECC PRod an inbound queue is processed to update and trigger the shipment document. When the shipment document is completed it then triggers the print of the BOL output from the shipment. Then and only then is anything sent to the print queue. AND it will be with user id = ALEREMOTE. The other printing works fine. Any thought..will be highly obliged.. Regards, VIcky

Need help on resolving the issue with adobe output server - error MSG256 & MSG 210 not in .ini file

I am using adobe output designer 5.5 for designing the label template and using the Adobe output server for printing process.
In the Jfmerge.ini we given the condition "DiscardUnknownFields=Yes" for ignoring the unwanted fields in the .dat file.
During the process, I faced some issue with the output server in printing the labels.
When the .dat file is placed in the Data folder of adobe, the label is not getting printed in the printer.
The file is move to the error folder and an error file is getting generated which contains the error message as given below:

I assume this is too late to help you, but other might need a hint. I had the same problem, and found some possible causes that I posted on http://codeznips.blogspot.com/2010/02/adobe-output-server-message-msg210-not.html.
It is quite likely that you are missing some double quotes around the path specifying the ini file (-aii), if its installed under "Program Files".

Facing intermittent issue with findByAltKey api

We are facing an intermittent issue with findByAltKey while invoking from service in out code and so we want to understand the expected behavior of this api
the issue is we have an unposted row in the cache which we need to retrieve.So we are doing a findByAltKey and based on the alternate keys it should return the row,but it fails sometimes.
We noticed while debugging that one of the alternate key attributes that we have defined on our EO is "Name" and the value of name in the EntityCache is sometimes becoming null.As a result of this the alternatekey attributes we pass doesnt match the EO.getAltKey(index) and it in turn doesnt fetch the row.
This attribute "Name" is present both in the base table and the translation table and there is a view link from parent VO to the TL(translation) VO.
What we want to understand here is when we do a findByAltKey based on name ,from where does it gets the name from the base vo or translation vo? And is it because of this sometimes this value in the cache is null?
Can anyone please explain the above issue.

Issues with Video Conversion in N95 8GB

I purchased a N95 8 GB yesterday. I have been trying to get the video conversion to work with video manager
The conversion status tab do not go beyond 40% and it hungs there without any error message.
Has anyone faced similiar issues with video.
I used another convertor to convert the AVI file to mp4. But this file could not be played by N95 real player.
Are there any specification for conversion, for the video to play in N95.
Can anyone suggest on the best tool to convert video to MP4 and play in N95 ?

Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

Intermittent issues with Matlab Script in LV2012

I'm having some intermittent issues with the Matlab Script in LV2012. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and my Matlab is 2013 64-bit. I've tried the suggestion here:

In one of my .vi's if I change 2 of the 3 input variables to the complex type, it works. It seems to be insensitive to the data type of the first input variable. In another .vi this trick doesn't work at all. The fix given in the link is to update the .dll, but this seems to be old news as the .dll in my directory is newer than the one referenced in this link.
The other funny thing is these scripts worked fine on Friday afternoon, but were throwing this error this morning. I've closed and reloaded both Labview and Matlab, but that didn't fix the issue.
Are there any new fixes for this issue that I haven't been able to find?

Hi. New iPad Air for Xmas. Intermittent issues with Safari closing suddenly or just suddenly opening App Store on a second tab. HELP!

There is an intermittent issue with either Safari just closing suddenly (looking at other discussions, believe this is to do with the RAM - wish this had been mentioned in at least one review of iPad Air I investigated before purchasing) however the most irritating issue is this constant 'jumping' from whatever I'm reading to the App Store which has been just automatically opened on another tab.. App Store is either showing William Hill app (never looked at or downloaded this) or on some occasions, some random game app which again, I've never looked at or downloaded... (I've checked the pages I've been reading & none of these are pop-ups or ads on these pages either...)
Any ideas?

I have this issue too. I don't think it's a problem with anyone's iPad or iPhone, it's internet advertisers who have worked out how to automatically trigger sending a person to the App Store just by loading a web page. I've seen William Hill and various games come through on the App Store with this technique.
This could mean Apple have no protection in Safari for preventing redirects to the App Store without a user specifically triggering it (like the way pop-ups used to happen before pop-up blockers were invented). Although I suspect that Apple wouldn't be that blasé about that sort of thing. More likely I think is the advertisers are binding a page event like onscroll which shouldn't allow this but was perhaps overlooked by Safari's developers. Apple need to make an update to Safari to prevent anything but ontap/onclick events from opening the App Store.
You should perhaps consider banning apps on the App Store using this advertising technique. They'd soon start behaving if they thought their app could be de-listed!!!

Video Issues with HTML5 Output

Hello there,
I have a project with several videos on seperate slides that are located inbetween normal content slides.
Works fine with SWF output and HTML5 output viewed on the pc, but...
when I test the course on an iPad the video plays quite fine the first time I watch it.
However when I jump back to the video the screen stays black for the duration of the video.
When there is audio in the video the audio plays but the screen stays black!
What I happening here?
Someone any ideas?

Have you inserted multi slide synchronized video or event video?
and which format of video have you inserted?
Please tell the complete version of Captivate 6 (help> about captivate) and which version of iOS is it?
You can also try improve the slide quality to optimized or 24 bit in the properties of the slide (for every slide).

Issues with video quality after editing in Premiere Elements. Please help!!!

I am having issues with the quality of video output from Premiere Elements. I tried to combine 4 videos clips that I took (all were crystal clear when viewed prior to combining them in Premiere Elements). The first clip is quite pixelated, the second has wavy lines running across it the whole time (recorded webinar), and the third clip looks crystal clear. (FYI...first clip and third clip were both taken using the exact same settings on my Canon) I am not very tech "savvy". I am guessing it has something to do with the way I saved or "shared" the video after editing? But I have NO IDEA what settings I need as I am not very "tech" savvy! I want to upload the finished product to Vimeo. I looked on Vimeo and followed instructions from a tutorial that a Premiere Elements user posted about how to save the best quality video for uploading to Vimeo, and the quality turned out FAR WORSE than the first time I saved it. Thanks for your response John! Do you think my issue may be due to the way I initially "set up" the project when I created a new project from the very beginning? I am operating on Premiere Elements 10, so I do not see an option for sharing online directly to vimeo....only facebook and Youtube. I am combining 4 video clips. 3 of the 4 clips were shot on my Canon EOS 60D, and 1 of the video clips was a recording of a PowerPoint based webinar that we did via Meeting Burner (meetingburner.com). Since I am combining more than 1 video format, is it likely that I will run into quality issues? The strange thing was that 2 of the clips shot with my Canon showed up blurry after exporting/sharing my final video, but one of them was still crystal clear. This doesn't make any sense to me since I did not change any settings on my Canon. I didn't see any specific tutorials on setting up the project to match the video from that list of Tutorial links.

RTF templates- Issue with inconsistent outputs

I have an issue with rtf templates.We are on XML Publisher 5.6.3 with EBS with Bursting.Bursting is set at G_HEADERS in the contorl file.
I am using the <?start@last-page-first:body?><?end body?> function.It displays amount total for single page output and amount total only on the last page for multiple pages output.The above logic works perfectly when I have single header data in the XML file(single G_HEADERS).

Unable to log into iMessage and intermittent issues with FaceTime

Late 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.4. I'm an admin level Windows guy but a relatively new (and otherwise very pleased) convert to Mac OS.
This morning Messages started repeatedly prompting me for my iMessage password and FaceTime has starting working only intermittently. Both work fine from my iPad and iPhone 5. Both have been working from my MacBook Pro for months.
This morning when I tried to fire up Messages on the MacBook I got an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration". After doing some Googling, I noticed that many folks said that when they had this problem they also had an issue with FaceTime. I confirmed that FaceTime was indeed giving me the same error as iMessage. After trying some solutions from past threads that didn't work, I rebooted. Now instead of throwing an error, Messages just keeps asking me for my iMessage password again and again. FaceTime works occasionally but sometimes when I get a call and click answer, I get "call failed" as my iPhone and iPad continue to ring and then I'm asked to re-enter my password on the MacBook. If I enter my password it just sits and spins. If i quit FaceTime and start it again, it'll usually log in successfully but calls may or may not work (following the same pattern I just mentioned).
The odd thing to me is that when I tested FaceTime on my iPad, I got notifications on my iPad and iPhone and my primary and alternate email address were now registered with FaceTime. They have been for over a year so I'm not sure why I'm getting those notifications again.
I'm able to log into the Mac App store without a problem using the same AppleID
What I've tried so far based on Google results:
1. In Keychain Access, reset my default keychain - No improvement
2. In Keychain Access, selected Keychain First Aid, repaired and verified - No improvement
3. On my iPad, turned iMessage off and back on - No improvement, though iMessage on the iPad still works fine
4. Confirmed that my primary and secondary AppleID email addresses and password are correct. The email address associated with my AppleID is not associated with any other AppleIDs.

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
Step 4
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
Step 5
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
Step 6
Select from the menu bar
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
Close the preference pane.
Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
Step 9
Reset the NVRAM.
Step 10
Reinstall OS X.
Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

Explorer issue with video swf

Hi can anybody tell me why Internet explorer did not open the video, before I had accept to open this site, in firefox it just open,
I have tried Amara slide show bouilder, and here there is no problem with the swf files in explorer.
I know that I in the internet explorer option can change this irritating bloking, so can anybody tell me why this happened for me
I have visit a lot of internet homepage, where there is a video and where internet explorer did block the site.
I have sent my html file and the swf file.

Does the issue occurs with other browser such as Chrome or Firefox?
Please try the following to check the issue:
1. Updating your graphics driver. visit the website of your computer manufacturer to download the latest driver.
2. Disable hardware accelerate to check the issue
Hardware acceleration is a feature in Adobe Flash Player that usually delivers a better video playing experience; however, sometimes it may cause issues.
The option to disable hardware acceleration is only available for certain versions of Adobe Flash Player system plug-in and operating systems (OS).
Follow these steps to see if the option is available:
a. Right-click on the on the video you’re having issues with
b. Click Settings
c. If you see the option Enable hardware acceleration, deselect it. If you don’t see it, the option is not available for you.
d. Click Close
e. Refresh the page and check whether the video is working
Once you disable hardware acceleration, the change will apply across all Internet browsers on your computer.
3. Reset Internet Explorer settings

Please understand that reset Internet Explorer to its default configuration. This step will also disable any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars that are installed.
4. Disable the security software temporarily and see if it works.
