Intermittent Problem with MJPEG Files

Hello, all-
I've been having some real trouble lately with files that have been captured or rendered using the Blackmagic MJPEG codec. I do most of my work at 1080 (both i&p) and render effects and After Effects graphics to BM MJPEG AVIs. On occasion (and the occasions are becoming more frequent), Premiere will render these files as a solid green frame. The odd thing is, it's very intermittent. Sometimes even within the file itself (i.e., only some frames will show up as green). The files play fine in any other application (media player, for example). Often times, the problem won't become apparant until I'm exporting to a file for client review through AME (very conevenient).
I'm assuming that the files are fine, and it's some sort of media database problem. I've tried deleting all of the database files and the problem persists, so it could be that it's embedded in the project somehow. Starting a new project and importing sequences does not solve the problem. Also, the files will sometimes show frames (with the green/pink effect) from completely different clips, which again makes me think of some sort of database problem. If I re-import the same clip as a new clip in the project, it still does not display properly.
The weird thing is, it only seems to happen with these MJPEG files which are essential to my workflow. Most of my source footage is XDCAM-EX and DVCPro HD which both work flawlessly. I'd purchase a copy of CineForm, but I can't seem to render effects to the CineForm codec if I'm working on a Blackmagic timeline and CineForm timelines won't display on my Blackmagic hardware (Multibridge Pro).
Computer is up to specs, Tyan S5396, Dual Quad ES5410s, 16GB RAM, fast raid array for storage.
Ideas?

I just tried the command you mentioned to start OC4J but I still get that problem.
It's really weird because I have had this process of deployments working for months with no problem, then all of a sudden it started acting up.
I don't think anything has changed but there must be something. I just don't know where to look.
any other suggestions?

Help i have intermittent problem with logging in, sometimes it just comes up with the desktop without any icons or dock and i have to restart the server so i can log on properly, but it doesn't happen all the time, any ideas would be appreciated???

The clients login window just shakes and won't login. I did find one thing that helps some of my Mac Lab woes.
Some students get a dock that only has 3 icons. These students also will have saving and printing problems when they get this default dock.
I think some of the problems occur when the student gets over quota, some preference files get corrupted.
1. Student will login.
2. Open the student's home folder. Then open Library and Preferences.
3. Find the file com.apple.homesync.plist and delete it.
4. Empty Safari Cache and the user's Trash Can and make sure they are not over quota.
5. Logout and login.
This will fix some problems, but not the problem when students can't login at all.

Intermittent problem with PC Suite - no text is di...

I have an intermittent problem with PC Suite - every so often it will stop displaying any text.
For eaxmple, right-click on the task bar icon gives a list of icons for backup, messages, sync etc., but the text is missing. Also, the 'tool-tips' in the application itself are empty grey boxes.
Restarting PC Suite solves the problem for a while, but it always comes back.
The main problem is that when it gets in this state, incoming call alerts don't show the name/number.
Has anyone else had this and managed to sort it.
I'm running PC Suite 7.1.40.6 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61p running Windows XP SP3. The phone is a 6230i connected via Bluetooth.

Yes the Support line directed me to try a different USB port, with no luck.
Also looked for the connection in windows device manager>>nothing appeared except the computers ports...

I've tried your 1st & 2nd suggestions....but I can't find the "connectivity solution" folder you mention (and being a complete noob (!) I don't know what a .bat file is (nor how to use it lol)
In fact I can't find PC Suite anywhere in the program files. I REALLY think that it wasn't installed OK....it should not have taken less than one second to download if it took 1 3/4 hrs initially

let me try to explain this because this has happened in past and never found a way to resolve but i lived with it
now that I have a Sony A7R the problem is more serious
Firstly i take pride it making the picture happen all in camera, i use DRO lvl 5 to get enough light, like when i'm shooting at dusk. DRO its like doing HDR but in a single file, it lightens the darks. in my camera i'm happy with results
but when I upload them to lightroom, they come out near black.
allow me to explain
lets say I import 100 images
i double check my preferences and everything is UNCHECKED when it comes to importing options, there is no auto toning, nothing.
as the images import i see a preview in the thumbnail which looks fine.
i double click on one to enlarge it, hence leave grid view.
for a brief 1 or 2 seconds, i see the full image in all its glory but than lightroom does something funny, it darkens the image
one by one as it inspects each image, if it was a DRO image it makes it too dark.
to make this clear, the image is perfect as it was in the beginning but after a few seconds lightroom for some reason thinks it needs to correct it.
how to prevent lightroom from doing this, i want the image exactly as it is, why must lightroom apply a correction>?
i think it has to do something with interpreting the raw file and lightroom applies its own algorithm.
but here is what i dont get.....before lightroom makes the change i'm able to witness the picture exactly as it was taken and want it unchanged..
now i have to tweak each file or find a profile for it which is added work.
any ideas how to prevent lightroom from ruining my images and just leave them as they were when first detected...
there are 2 phases...one is when it originally imports and they look fine
second is scanning each image and applying some kind of toning which darkens it too much.

i've disabled it now
thing is, there is no DRO jpg to download from the camera
its only ARW. so my understanding is when i use DRO setting, the camera makes changes to the ARW than lightroom somehow reads this from the ARW.
but then sadly reverts it to no DRO settings.
because i notice if i take normal picture in raw mode its dark but if i apply dro to it, it comes out brighter, yet when i d/l the image from camera to lightroom, which is an ARW - there are no jpgs. lightroom decides to mess it up
so in reality there is no point in using DRO because when i upload it lightroom removes it.
is there a way to tell lightroom to preserve the jpg preview as it first sees it.
its just lame, picture appears perfect...than lightroom does something, than bam, its ruined,.
what do i need to do to prevent lightroom from ruining the image? if it was good in the first place.

I am using the compress function in the Mac OS (File > Compress XX) from time to time. Today it does not work anymore. OS 10.5.6
I get a message: The content list cannot be created for compressing.
I tried it with files and folders and keep getting this message. Anybody any idea as to how to fix this

I’m using a PreSonus Firebox audio interface.
It’s been working fine for months, but now when I first turn on the computer in the morning , I’m not able to trigger MainStage from the keyboard. I tried different midi controllers, different keyboards, different midi cords, and check midi preferences. The audio interface is working fine and is recogonized, but the midi doesn’twork. I re-started the computer several times and then finally it miraculously starts working again.
I’ve been having to this every day now. Any help or ideas is very much appreciated.

I Had the same problem with a FireStudio. Try unplugging the FireWire plug and the power plug. Wait for a few seconds, then plug both back in. The light on my FireStudio was flashing blue/red which means "not connecting." I did what I just described, and everything works again. Hope it works for you.

There is an old form , which was not in use from many days.
Now when we tried to run the form, i got the error saying "FRM-40734:Internal Error:Pl/SQL error occured.", in the login form.
When i tried to open the fmb file in Oracle Forms Builder 6i, i got the following error:
FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library d2kwutil. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved., but the fmb file got open.

Problem with import file type setting

Problem with import file type settings - In preferences>general I select "wav encoder" But then going to tools>Create it still says "create mp3 version".

Doublechecking, roy. After making the preferences change, are you leaving the General tab by clicking the OK button down the bottom-right-hand corner of the tab?

I think the real problem is that you don't check the return value from read (it's probably less than data.length indicating an incomplete read). Isn't there a readFully somewhere?

Problem with .sitx files (Safari but not Firefox???)

Hi All,
I have a website online (with help from iWeb and BBEdit) but am having a problem I cant figure out (this IS my first website!)
I am hoping that someone much more knowledgeable than me can help me with it.
I basically have a download section. Icons and desktops.
Now, when I (or anyone else) tries to download- everything seems to be fine in FireFox (even IE!) but not in Safari.
My desktops are compressed as .zip files. No problems there, everyone can download and open (including Safari users!)
My icons are compressed as .sitx files. This is where the problems come in. Firefox and IE download them no problem ('save to disk?' etc) However when one attempts to download the icons (.sitx files) with Safari it simply displays pages of gibberish (starting with the word 'Stuffit') which I am presuming is Safari trying to 'display' the contents of the actual stuffit file.
Why is this? Why wont safari simply download the .sitx files as it does .zip files?
Does Safari have some sort of inherent problem with .sitx files? Is it some sort of configuration within Safari preferences? or (and probably most likely!) is it something I have done wrong?

It sounds like the server the website/file is hosted on is not identifying the type correctly. As you've seen, different browsers will handle this situation differently.

You may want to take a look at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802 since its the iphone hardware troubleshooting page.
It could just be a hardware problem. You may need to get it in to an apple store.
