Intermittent WiFi issue following Windows 10 upgrade

My acer Aspire V3-571 has been intermittently losing WiFi for past 2 days since Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium. The Aspire has:Atheros wireless network adapter AR5BWB222 10.0.0.38 Wed. 2/15/12 So far, I have:1. In the Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter Properties,I  unchecked the box in the Property Management tab which read Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. 1b. Made sure airplane mode was in off position.
1c. Forget exactly where I did this, but made sure settings in another ? location were set at "Maximum Performance."
2. Checked that firmware is up to date on my network router, with security set to WPA 2-PSK (AES).
3. Searched through many forums to read responses of folks upgrading to Windows 10 with WiFi issues--seems this is widespread problem, though no one has said WiFi signal loss was intermittent, as is my laptop's. Internet hits for my searches also show WiFi issues occurred in the past for installs of Windows 8. (So far have not come across mentions of WiFi issues for past installs of Windows 7).
4. While exploring my laptop, I came across a page of Microsoft Updates--SEE ATTACHED. I was surprised to note that these updates are released quite frequently over the course of a day. For example 10 separate updates between 4:24 PM and 11:30 PM on Aug 1 and 18 separate updates between 12:06 AM and 3:57 PM on Aug 2.  Am including part of the record of updates for August 1 and August 2. I am aware that Microsoft uses my WiFi to AUTOMATICALLY download updates. Is it possible that this intermittent  download of updates cause the intermittent  interruptions of the WiFi??
5. This afternoon, when the WiFi was not working for Windows 10. I reinstalled as a dual boot, Ubuntu 14.04. I had no difficulty connecting to WiFi from Ubuntu.
Have not yet:
1. I have not yet tried connecting the laptop via Ethernet cable to my router during one of these WiFi outages.
2. My ISP is a VOIP/Internet setup, using one Westell and one Cisco router. I have not considered if they might be a cause of the problem.
3. I read on one forum that someone fixed their WiFi connection issue by changing their router security setting to include TKIP NOTE: I may need to put attachment of screen grab of Windows 10 updates in a separate email reply to this post as this post is not accepting the attachment.
Would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I shall likely also put this out on a Windows 10 forum elsewhere.

  • Intermittent wifi issues post OS6 Upgrade

Apps are slower and recently wifi has completely cut out, then come back randomly.  Today I show a wifi connection icon, but have no connectivity.  Has Apple admitted a bug with this upgrade?  Reminds me of MS back in the old days.

I had these problems prior to the OS4 upgrade. Sometimes I cradle the ipod touch in my hand, other times I hold it like the damned fragile egg it seems to be. All my windows machines have relatively less connectivity errors. Occasionally they fritz out. The ipod touch seems to only stay connected when I am about four feet away from the router, sitting directly in front of my desktop. Initially, it worked downstairs in the kitchen, my friend has one and was watching movies on it down there. If I am not in the same router room, I will get differing signal strengths from full to one bar. Even if it is next to a laptop showing full signal. The drops are frustrating, having to sometimes completely re-enter the security phrase. It's a bugger even on a real keyboard.
I don't use it too often or have many apps that require wifi, but mainly for convenience after all the battery life is better than my laptops dead one.
It definitely gets annoying trying to browse the web and having to cycle out of safari, into settings, wifi, select my network, go back and repeat, make trip to router room, and go back to where I was. Sure I get exercise but I don't have the nike thing..... nor do I need added exercise.

  • HP Stream 7 WiFi issues following a sucessful Upgrade to Windows 10

HP Stream 5701....Upgraded to Windows 10...Upgrade went fine.  WiFi drops frequently making this device almost useless....its dropping almost every 45 seconds...I connect it to Home Network...it disconnects in about 45 seconds and this cycle keeps repeating. Went to Device Mgr, Network Adapters.....drivers...checked for Updated driver, came back Windows determined latest driver is installed.  I know this is an issue with Windows10 and the Streams Network Adapter because I have a smartphone connected to my Home Network and it never drops the wireless connection. Hopefully someone has the answer....and fix.    What I find imaging is, the Stram maintained an wireless connection during the time it was downloading the Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, that took at lwast 15 to 20 minutes and now I cannot maintain a WiFi connection for more than 30 to 45 secs.  Tried to run Windows Update...unable to complete because WiFi Connection drops.....I'll not be able to get any Updates if this keeps up.

These Forums are great....lots of good helpful information is exchnaged, but, words can be read with others taking offence when that was never the intention of the writer.  Sorry you took my words that way because that was the furtherest of my intention.  I downloaded the driver for the tablet that was listed under Windows 10 for the Stream 7 and after the install I looked at Device manager and simply reported the version I saw. So you got the Driver 3008.14.0701.2015 from a site other than HP.com.....  If I recall, and don't take offense, it was a site in Europe but it was a HP site?????   Or was it a 3rd party site....because I only know hp.com to find and download hp drivers.  So, what is the site you went to to download 3008.14.0701.2015? I had to be impatient because my Tablet was totally unusable....holding WiFi at best only 30 to 45 secs.....then connected, sometimes, then dropped again.  HP Tech Support actually reached back out at me after doing a Chat....by Phone.  The experience with HP in this matter has been great.....they sent out a Repl, it acted the same way after the Upgrade....and I tried the driver from their Driver support page shown under Windows 10 Drivers SP72188....and it did not resolve the WiFi issue. HP has advised they are aware of the issue and have been intouch with Microsoft and the Support Specalist suggested I rollback so 1) the Tablet could be usable and 2) I didn't go beyond the 30 day roll back period. So again, you took my words as questioning yours, and that was never my intention...it is not who I am.  I for one appreciate any advice provided...I was merely stating what I saw after I installed the Win10 Network driver. I can report, with Win8.1 the Stream is holding WiFi....with the exception sometimes coming out of sleep I must re-connect....and the plan for resolution is that HP will be contacting me in about 2 weeks with Updates on progress of resolving my issue.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

  • IPod distortion issues following PC upgrade

I had to replace my PC in a hurry when the hard drive died, so bought a Packard Bell Windows 7 beastie. Yeah, laugh it up. The first time I synced my iPod (an 8GB second generation Nano, a little over three years old) everything worked perfectly, with no problems playing the transferred tunes. On all subsequent syncs, some of the transferred songs are peppered with distortion (random sub-second squeaking sounds, static and dropouts).
Now, I'm reasonably confident that the problem isn't with the MP3 files themselves, as they played fine on both iPod and iTunes with my previous machine and still sound fine through iTunes on my new machine. They're all 256kbps rips or higher. I'm also reasonably confident that the problem isn't with the configuration of my iPod (I don't use SoundCheck or any EQ) or my Etymotic earphones, as I get the same problems when my iPod's plugged into a hi-fi.
Things I've done to attempt to fix the issue:
Regressed from iTunes 9.0.2 64 bit to 32 bit version
Upgraded again from iTunes 9.0.2 32 bit to 64 bit version
Wiped all the tunes from my iPod and reloaded them, several times
Reset my iPod to the factory defaults and reloaded the latest iPod firmware (v1.1.3, IIRC)
Vague, possible causes that I doubt I could fix myself:
It's a hardware issue with my iPod, mysteriously occurring for the first time only four days after I replaced my PC
It's a problem with transferring the files between my new PC and my iPod
I only have access to one iPod and one PC, so trying a different version of either isn't an option in the diagnostic process.
If anybody has any similar experiences, thoughts or possible solutions I'd be delighted to hear them. Thanks!

  • IPad 3/LTE intermittent wifi issue.

My iPad 3LTE drops its wifi connection frequently. I've been doing side by side tests with my iPhone and ipad2 and the connection issue is really noticeable when compared to them.  Is this happening to anyone else?

PS. In order to preempt any of the following suggestions, I already:
-did a full system restore on the Ipad (twice)
-reset network settings (a bunch of times)
    -rebooted the Ipad and laptop
-updated OSX and itunes to the latest version

  • Multicast Issues following R2 Upgrade - MCSIsapi failed Health Check

    Hi all,
I am having yet more issues with multicasting following upgrading to SCCM 2012 R2. (running on Server 2008 R2).
I have tried several times now:
unticking all images marked for multicast
unticking all DPs from enable multicast
waiting for WDS to be removed
    reboot
    enable DP for multicast
wait for WDS to be installed
    reboot
    enable image for multicast
But when I run my task sequence the smsts.log does not recognise that I have a multicast enabled DP and begins to download via unicast.
    extract from smsts.log:
    <![LOG[Locations: Multicast = 0, HTTP = 1, SMB = 0.]LOG]!><time="10:13:18.066-60" date="07-08-2014" component="ApplyOperatingSystem" context="" type="1" thread="1244" file="resolvesource.cpp:2749">
On the server WDS is installed, running and looks healthy.
All the multicast logs look healthy apart from MCSIsapi.log which states:
Failed to perform health check (0x80004005)
    HealthCheckRequest::HandleMessage failed with errorcode (0x80004005)
Failed to process HEALTHCHECK request for client ffffffff-ffff-ffff-ffff-ffffffffffff
MCSRequestHandler::HandleMessage for Op HEALTHCHECK failed with server errorcode 2052
I have all the MCS keys in the registry. SerializedMCSKey and SignedSerializedMCSKey are both populated.
Can anyone shed any light on how to overcome this issue?
    Many thanks,
    Jay

  • Lenovo x131e intermittent WiFi issues

Hello spicy friends! This is my first OP on Spiceworks, please bear with me.My company sends laptops to sites around the USA and abroad for clinical trials. Recently (in the last 2 months) we've been getting an increasing number of calls regarding WiFi problems. The problems seem to be intermittent and they vary slightly from site to site, but here are the common factors:Lenovo x131e (build: 3372-2WU, other builds are not affected)Can see networks, but cannot connect (sometimes gets message: Unable to connect, but not consistently; other times it just states limited access and a tracert reveals it's unable to hit anything outside of itself)Wired connectivity is not affectedMany sites have 2 or more of our laptops, and the other one works fine (in one case they have 2 of the same build, one works, one doesn't). Other models are not...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    We use a custom image.
    We use Windows 7 32bit.
I have tried Lenovo drivers and Realtek drivers.
I have uninstalled video drivers and audio drivers and allowed windows update to update the missing drivers and for some reason everything so far is fine on one of the laptops. Need more time and more tests to see if this is a working solution.
BTW when setting up the laptops we run Lenovo Update first to install all missing drivers then windows update to install remaining ones as the image that we use hasn't got all the drivers installed for some reason. I found online that some users complained that it was to do with the video drivers causing the audio loss.
Anyway I am going to test this on another affected computer soon and see what happens. Whatever it is I have never come across something like that before and other people are affected by this bug too.

  • WiFi issues after iOS5 Upgrade

Both my Verizon iphone and 1st gen iPad WiFi worked fine before I upgraded to 5.0.  My iPad is working fine, but I cannot connect to my Airport Extreme using my iPhone after the upgrade.  It appears there are all kinds of issues with WiFi after a new iOS release.  Not sure if this one is Verizon specific or not.  I restore my iPhone without success.  My iPhone can see the network but it will not connect.

After upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS5 I can no longer connect to my Airport Extreme. Everytime I try to authenticate on my WiFi network I'm told the password is incorrect. Just to make sure I hadn't gone crazy I tried the password on another device and connect right away.
I just updated my iPad and remembered my WiFi password and didn't ask me for it during setup like the iPhone did.

  • [Solved]Dell XPS13 ultrabook Xorg and Wifi issues after Kernel upgrade

I installed Arch on a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook today, and most everything ran fine after I ran the initial upgrade -- but I held back on the kernel update from 3.1.3 to 3.3.7.
I just now updated the kernel, and now I can't start X, nor can I access the wireless card. For X, I get a "Fatal server error: no screens found" error, and I can no longer find wlan0 with iwconfig, although I can still see it with lspci.
I even tried downgrading the kernel to 3.1.9, but I'm still having identical issues.
What can I do to fix this, short of starting again from scratch?

    Hi all,
    I have a U410 touch and yesterday I upgraded to windows 8.1
    I have major WiFi issues.
connection drops after a few minutes giving limited. troblesshooting resets the adapter saying ''the default gateway is not accessible '' is fixed. But after a few minutes the problem comes back. and it goes like this forever.
I have the Intel Centrino N-2230 and I installed the driver I found here (15.10.3.2).
I''ve tried to uncheck the power management option but the problem is still there.
I also have other issues with the dolby system (I see others have the same problem )and my touch screen is not working.
any help will be greatly appreciated
    thanks!

    Hi-
I am also running into the same issue with my Lenovo U410 and it is really frustrating. I also have Centrino Wireless chip with driver version 15.10.3.2 and I have windows 8.1
I bought the laptop from Costco and was having similar issues. I sent it back to Costco Concierge who apparently replaced the wireless chipset on this laptop but now I am getting this issue.

Just upgraded my iphone 3g to the laest software and since then, whilst the phone connects to the network (no chnages to the neywork have been made) it loses connectivity randomly, and when acessing an app that uses the wifi, it just drops out to 3G or GPRS.. Have tried network settings reset, no change, have tried to foregt and recreate network, same problem persists. Any help greatly appreciated, or how can I back rev to the old software?

At risk of a 'me too'... iPodTouch upgrade with continued wi-fi issues.
Just upgraded to 3.1.2 in hope of solving wi-fi drop outs. But no... Tried 'reset network settings'; 'forget this network' and re log in etc. Had this issue with 3.1.1. Whole iPod backed up and reinstalled with 3.1.2 but no solution.
iMac / AppleTV on wi-fi network and no issues with connection dropping out so hopefully not issue with DSL modem / router setup.
I do not recall this problem with my old 1G (running 3.1.1) will test it again when I can get my hands on it.
My only thought is ... is this connected with the 'coma' issue. Seems that wi-fi connection is not there when I wake the iPod up...
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
