Intermittent Wireless Only For Specific Apple Devices

Hello,
I recently upgraded my Linksys wrt120n router firmware & had to reconfigure settings.  Subsequently, some (but not all) of my apple devices are having intermittent wirelesss connection problems.  Specifically, my ipad1 & ipad2 never lose thier connection but a macbook pro (~ 2 years old), iphone 3g, iphone 4, older ipod touch & very old ibook g4 all work for a period of time (usually 1/2 day) & then lose thier connection.  When I attempt to reconnect these devices I receive the following error..."unable to join the network xxxxxx....".  I also have a Dell laptop (1 1/2 yrs old) that generally does not have the connection problem.  Finally, when the devices do lose thier network connection all I have to do to reconnect is go to the Linkys router setup webpage & click on save & the wireless connection works again (almost like this is just refreshing the connection for these specific apple devices).  I was not having any problem prior to the firmware upgrade & from what I have read the older firmware version is no longer available so going back to the old firmware does not appear to be an option.

Have you tried reinstalling the latest firmware? Would this new firmware default the 2.4 GHz radio to using either wide (40 KHz) or mixed 40 KHz / 20 KHz channels? If so, your Apple gear may not be able to connect or stay connected unless the channels are set to "narrow" 20 KHz ones.
I understand from what you read, but have you already scoured the Cisco/Linksys support site and forums to verify that previous firmware versions are still not available? I would be hard-pressed to believe that the vendor does not maintain earlier versions for cases just like this.

    Let me know the name of the ISP? Let me know the ip address that you are getting from the router. To check the IP address that you are getting from the Router...
    You can check the IP address in the following manner:
    # Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
    # A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" …
    There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN….
    # Open up the browser on the desktop and on the address bar type “Address of the Default Gateway” that will open up the Router setup page…
    # On the same set up page reduce the MTU size to 1400 from Auto.
    # Then Click on wireless Tab select Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, and 11. Click Save Settings.
    Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Then check the wireless connectivity.

    I use my MBP regularly to share internet connection with PCs. Usually the PCs do a 'search' for a network and then 'connect' to the network name set in the Airport options... drop down panel. They get the IP automatically.
    In the system preferences>share> there is a button on the right bottom which says 'airport options..' and in the drop down panel, you set the name or SSID and the WEP key.
    Maybe you should check XBOX settings if the network settings are manual or automatic?

    There probably is, but it requires that you be able to use punctuation and write in sentences so that we can understand exactly what you want.
    You can block others from using your Apple ID by changing your password.  There is no way to erase what was already downloaded on to someone else's device, for obvious reasons,

    There is no way to set up iCloud on an XP system to use services such as PhotoStream directly from the system, no. Vista, Win 7 or Win 8 only. All support for XP from Microsoft including security patches will be ceasing in the not too distant future, so it's probably time to consider upgrading.

    ATV cannot play movies from the TC, even if it is on your home network.. ATV is a streamer.. it is not a media player.. and the TC is a dumb as a board hard disk in a router.. so it has nothing in it either.
    You cannot play movies from ATV without itunes, which streams to the ATV.
    If the iMac is running 24/7 then you should be able to connect to the iMac remotely and run from iTunes on that, which could then play movies stored on the TC.. with the following issues.. if you use wireless on the iMac forget it. The iMac has to be ethernet connected as it has to pick up the movie on the library and play it back to the TC to network to your home.
    The next issues is speed of slowest connection.
    Your download to your home maybe great.. what is the upload speed from your office like??
    If you pay for uploads and downloads you will pay for the movie 3x.. first to download it.. second to upload it.. office to net..  and third to download it again.. net to home..  Sorry but it is better to play the movie directly from online itunes store.
    If you plan to try and play non-itunes movies over the connection, it won't work.. ATV as stated is linked to itunes and cannot play movie files.
    Overall this sounds like you need to think it out a bit more.

    I have been using the iPhone 4S for about a year and I never had problems untill a few days back. Since about a week, my 3G settings for applications installed automatically reset.
    Path >> iPhone screen >> Settings >> Mobile(Cellular) >> Use Mobile Data For >> "List of all apps installed"
    Against each application, you have an option to either enable / disable the mobile data usage:
    Eg:
    App Store          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    Contacts          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    Facebook          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    Facetime          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    Weather          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    You Tube          (swipe left to disable || swipe right to enable)
    etc...
    Problem:
    If I don't want You Tube to use mobile data, I would normally swipe left to disable thus the application will not start / stream any music if its on 3G/4G. Since a few days, whenever I disable the option for any app... go back to the main screen and recheck the settings, I see its enabled again!
    The error I see when I start the app is:
    MOBILE DATA IS TURNED OFF FOR "YOU TUBE"
    You can turn on mobile data for this app in settings
    <Settings>     <OK>
    When I go back to settings... I see the option is enabled.
    Now I dont know what and how this happened all of a sudden. I have tried resetting the network settings for my iPhone, and it has not helped me.
    My iPhone is updated to OS 7.0.4 and all apps are updated.
    Anyone can help me on this error and how do I fix this?
    FYI... I have no problems connecting to WiFi at all!

    For my home network I use DHCP with manual address because I have to forward some ports specifically to my computer. However this causes problems when connecting to other networks. For some reason this setting stays active even when using other networks. Therefore, I can't connect to say my school network because the setting has to be set to plain DHCP. Is there a way to use manual IP address only for specific networks?

    System Preferences > Network > Locations and add a location for your home with its manual settings. Add a location for other DHCP locations. Then when you want to connect at another DHCP location select that location from your locations dropdown.

    Absolutely. Assuming that you are talking about your own devices. You can sign in on another person's devices, but it's not advisable to do so.

    According to your description, you want to get sub-totals specific columns within columns group. Right?
    In this scenario, we can use IIF() function in expression to achieve your goal. The expression will only return the total value when the column value is a specific value, otherwise we can make it return nothing. Try the following expression:
    IIF(Fields!Column.Value="[specific value]",Sum(Fields!Total.Value),nothing)

    Is there any way to pair an apple wireless keyboard to another bluetooth device.
    The device i am using recognizes the keyboard, but when it asks for a passcode i am stumped. I tried using the passcode generated by the mac i have, but it is clear after a couple tries that it is randomy generated each time a pairing is recognized.
    Any thoughtts or solutions much appreciated.

    My employer is introducing a policy that only a specific model of USB drive will be allowed on our IT infrastructure in the future, and I need to restrict the estate so they cannot use any others.
    I have successfully tested & configured the following settings:
    Allow installation of devices that match these device IDs
    Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings
    Which works to allow the approved device and block any other new ones. The problem is that any USB storage device that was installed prior to the GPO going live can still be used, unless it is explicitly uninstalled. I have confirmed this in testing across
    multiple devices/reboots.
    Is there any way to force all USB storage drivers to uninstall/other way around this? We have a large estate over a wide area, so it not feasible to uninstall all old drivers manually. Thanks!

    Just a note for anyone else in a similar situation. I haven't found a way to do what I require using Group Policy:
    -Two policies exist that can block all USB storage devices from running or installing, including previously installed devices
    OR:
    -Can block all USB devices except approved device, but have to specifically allow all other desired classes, and has no affect at all on any USB device, including storage, already installed on the computer.
    As a result we are now looking at third party tools to control device access.

  • WRT610N - intermittent wireless access for all wireless clients; standard fixes don't work

    My network had been working fine for over a year, and now I'm getting intermittent wireless access.  Everything will be ok for a day or two, and then all of a sudden nothing wireless will work (the wired computer will still work): 1 Vista desktop, 1 vista laptop, 1 XP laptop, wireless printer, and iPod touches.
    Vista computers will either say "the network has denied the association request" or the "network key is incorrect" (it isn't).  On XP computers, I can get to the point where the computer is trying to acquire an IP address, but it just times out.
    So far:
    - Made sure signal strength is good (most have full bars)
    - Upgraded firmware (worked for 2 days)
    - Made sure all drivers were up to date
    - Changed the broadcast channel (most recent fix, everything worked for 2 days)
    I've never had default configurations; my SSID was enabled and set up from the beginning.  I recently moved from WEP to WPA because a new Vista laptop refused to work with WEP.  The clients do not pick up any other network signals from neighbors.
    A router reboot sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.  Like everything else I've done, if it works, if it's for a day or so.
    Everything worked for a year until about 2 weeks ago (a week after I switched from WEP to WPA - coincidence?).

    After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

    Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
    Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
    Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
    Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
    Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
    Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
    XP :
    Click on Start and goto the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties.
    Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
    Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...
    Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/wep key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...
    It will connect...
    Vista :
    Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
    Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
    It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

    Well, the posted script is a full working one.
    I just search for a way to limit the range of the script to the actual site.
    Therefore it is unimportant, which regex is in the example.
