Internal Activity Confirmation without a workcenter

Hi all,
I have situation where I am not using any workcenters, and i want to confirm an internal activity.
How should i proceed.

Dear Sir,
I am facing the same proble. I want my internal activity to confirm without Work Center for 1 WBS elemt and should confirm with work center for another WBS.
When we do w/o work center then error comes as states by Rohan :
*Work is confirmed - maintain the work center*
*Message no. RU210*
*Diagnosis*
*You have confirmed a value for work but no work center.*
*System Response*
*Processing stopped.*
*Procedure*
*Enter the key for the work center where you have had the completion*

  • POC calculations of internal activity and service activities

    Hi,
    I need some help regarding POC.
    In the scenario, I am using two activities----Internal and service.
    The internal Activity is used only for scheduling and confirmation of activities. There is a work center attached to it, but there is no cost attached to it.
    The service activity is only related to cost.
    Now, I want to calculate the POC for internal activity similar to the MSP i.e, POC calculated at the activity level will role up to give the POC at the WBS level ( this POC will  be related to the POC as per the confirmation of the work that is the actual % of completion).
    To calculate the EV only the cost from the service activity will work. i.e, the actual cost which is coming from the RA Bill (ML81n) and the planned cost from the services in the service activity. So this POC will be different from the POC calculate in the internal activity confirmation.
    How to map both the scenarios in the same project ?
    Kindly furnish some idea.

    Hi Abhra,
    You can use both activity types if required but I would recommed you to look up on the three types of activities so that you are able to choose the best option that fits your business requirement:
    1) Internal
    2) External
    3) Service
    You can use confirmations for both service as well as internal activities. This will help you with your POC calculation as the values will be aggregated to the WBS level. I tried to inquire from you which EV method you are using because that may assist you in determining the POC of activities (either service or internal) based on specific requirements.
    Now for EV to work you need to plan cost at the activity level for fair reflection (please note that this is also aggregated at the WBS level therefore if you do not plan cost at activity level, you will however get some estimated value at the WBS) of earned value. Based on your statements, I assume that EV is being calculated for the service activity correctly (as it has planned and probably actual cost) but not for the internal activity. I'm afraid without planned and actual cost, EV cannot be calculated. Have you tried using cost from the work center (which is assigned to a cost center)? You may use activity types in the confirmations as well.

  • Automatic Material Issue on Activity Confirmation

    Dear All,
    I am trying to setup the system so that on internal activity confirmation material assigned to the activity is automatically Issued to the WBS.
    Issue:
    BS, but when i confirm the activity system does not issue the material automatically when stock is available as unrestricted stock in the correspondign WBS.
    When there is stock available in the Storage location mentioned in CJ20N for the material automatic GI happens on activity confirmation.
    Can you please let me know why is system not issuing the material available as unrestricted stock on the corresponding WBS??

    Fine i can use CN25 for confirmation.
    Requirement is that i want to track stock on WBS level, and then issue it to Network/Activity from WBS stock? is this not possible via activity confirmation??
    Is it that if i want to automatically post GI on activity confirmation, it is not possible from Project/WBS stock?

    My client has asked me to show them S-Curve graphical presentation.... I am not been able to get the proper shape of the three curve.
    My second question is..I am having problem in internal Activity confirmation.. I use my work center with planned activity type, i have confirmed that activity but no actual cost is coming on the activity or respective WBS, neither its going into the cost center given in work center master data.

    I am watching your another question about Project Progress (EVA).But now that topic has been locked and I couldn't reply to that. I hope that it is helpful and needful.
    We know that:
    1.BCWS = Planned POC * overall costs
    2.BCWP = Actual POC * overall costs
    so,we must make sure the POC has been setted in the active and confirm it.(CJ20N)
    Run CNE1,I think you may get the result in CEN5.

    I have to monitor the project progress based on activtiy confirmation, can anyone guide how can i see progress of project based on percentage with plan/actual dates comparison.
    The business scenario is:
    One top level WBS under which 2 WBS assign, each 2nd level WBS have one network assigned. The  second level WBSE represent individual site where i have to perform various internal activities without cost involvements, only dates and number of durations to be maintained in each internal activity with finish start relationship.
    The structure is:
    Root WBS (level 1)--SITE 1 WBS (level 2)--
    SITE 2 WBS (level 2)
    > (Network 001) -
    > (Network 002)----
    > 001 0010 (1st Internal activity 2 days) -
    > 002 0010 (1st Internal activity 2 days)-
    > 001 0010 (2nd Internal activity 4 days) -
    > 002 0010 (2nd Internal activity 4 days)-
    > 001 0010 (3rd Internal activity 1 days) -

    If necessary, assign cost element 7500001 to a cost component in cost component structure 01.

    You need to check this calling your cost component structure using OKTZ.Your Cost Element must be assigned to one of the components.

  • Cost Element Error during Activity Confirmation

    Hi,
    We are using assembly processing to create projects. After project is created, a requirement arises and we manually assign few internal activities in CJ20N. When we do like that, a cost element gets picked automatically in the cost element field of External TAB along with Purchase Org & purchase group though it is an internal activity. This doesnt happen in already created activities during automatic creation.
    We don't need the system to bring these values for cost element, purchase org. & group. We are not using this cost element anywhere. In network profile cost element field is blank.
    So whenever we confirm the activity it throws an error message. CK197, G/L account for company code / costelement does not exist.
    Kindly advice.

    Have your system is gone for any recent upgrade for EHP4 ?
    This error is due to EHP4 please implement following said notes
    1285728, 1277967.
    And after that remove the cost element from activities present in external tab which are created before not implementation which are giving error.
    revert after resolving the issue.

    and I must use a Bill of Material to assign material component. There is no other choice
    This is the point where I disagree with SAP, cause the client says that they use Operational Networks, cause it's more simple to assign components to activities.

    when i cancel confirmation (co13) it will default auto reverse goods movement 102. but material are not in stock and then COGI will occur.
    does anyone know any T-code to cancel confirmation without goods movement? because i want to cancel just activity.

    Hi,
    If your are cancelling the operation which is having the the Control Key : PP03 (auto GR) then only system will try to reverse the Goods Movement (Movt Type 102)., And if the material is not in Stock (sloc) then system will through the Goods MOvt failure and same can be seen in COGI and COrrected later, once the stock comes in Sloc.
    There is NO Seperate transaction for just cancelling the Operation (Activity) without reversing the Goods Movement. Even it is not logical to do so as it may show as Negative WIP for the Order.

    I think you can achieve the same via using distribution key in the workcenter, you can specify how the capacity requirements of an activity are to  distributed acroos activity duration.
    A distribution key consist of a distribution strategy and a distribution funcation.
    System determise the distribution of the capacity requirements a/c to the following strategy
    1. distribution key of the activity.
    2.Distribution key of the work center
    3. Equal distribution acrsoos the latest dates of activities.

    When I do confirmation, I have an error like this: CK 694 No structure could be determined for internal activity
    In KP26, I defined plan price for Exactly Cost center and activity, Price indication is 3.
    In costing variance
    In OPL1, Actual Cost for Activity I choose 1. Plan Price...
    In OKTZ, I define Cost Element in Cost Component Structure
    I don't use  Activity Group.
    I don't know how to fix this error. Does anybody help me ? Please

    CK11N check the cost component structure for this material
    Check whether secondary cost element is assined to that activity.If it is assigned then check cost component structure in IMG where that secondary cost element is assigned or not.

    I would like to know how to change the message type from error to warning as I want to keep the price of activity type with no value (zero price).

    Thank you for your input.
    I have read the program that you have mentioned and in fact fyi the message type can be maintained in table T100C via transaction code OBA5. hte standard defaults as an error as you have mentioned but this can be changed on the tarnsaction that i have mentioned.

    In the next screen under the field name from 'AFRUD-ISM01' to 'AFRUD-ISM06' (these are six standard values), mark as required, whichever is necessary.
    Save the setting"
    Mandatory right mark is not comming on co11n sceen . and system also allow me confirmation without putting any value in those field.

    this internal activity is inturn attached to a network
    which inturn attached to a WBS.
    After the PR and PO creation of the material attached
    the cost report s_alr_87013558 shows values in the
    WBS element not in the network activity to the material
    was attached
    How to catch the cost value to network activity instead of WBS elment
    Can anybody have a clue why it is happening

    in budget report the actual and commitment value is pulled
    to respective network activity or wbs element depending upon the account assignment category during the automatic PR
    creation from CJ20n
    In my scenario during automatic PR creation it is Q(project make to order) instead of N(network).
    Can you throw some light to this where in
    i can generate auto PR with account assgnment category N
    for a material attached to network through internal activity
    Note:
    to catch the cost we also need to activate the cost rel indicator in purchasing doc tab for material in cj20n
