Internal battery dm3
getting the message that my internal battery 601 may need to be replaced....with the age of my laptop, it may be more cost efficient to get a new computer...if the internal battery fails, will the laptop still function when plugged in to an external electical source?......thanks

Hi,
The 601 error actually refers to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc/cmos cell as the message suggests ) - see the HP document on the following link for further details.
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470
Your notebook should work fine on just AC power ( you can just disconnect the battery and leave it out ).
If you wish to replace it, I'd just google to full Model No. of your dm3 series with the phrase 'replacement battery' and get an idea of the cost - it likely won't be too expensive.

I am receiving an error message when I start my laptop HP G62 Internal battery error 601? What does it means please provide me solution ASAP
Israr,
Then error indicates that the primary battery (the one you can remove and replace) has a hardware failure. You should run Battery Check in HP Support Assistant.

My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins from full power, think it needs a new internal battery but have no idea how to go about this and am no longer covered by my guarantee. Can anyone advise me on what's best? Thanks in advance
Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use an Apple wall-mount charger. Do NOT use a computer's USB port. Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear). An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem. I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
According to Apple:
Use Your iPod Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge. -
How to disable internal battery without a display?
The display on my T440s is dead. I would like to remove the hard drive before sending the laptop in. The user guide says to disable the internal battery before moving the hard drive - but this requires access to the BIOS configuration, which cannot be done on an external monitor.
Is it essential to disable the internal battery before removing the SSD? If so, how can I do this?

Hi,
There is a solved thread on this page about this error. The solution is to replace the battery because its storage capacity is low. The right part number can be found in a maintenance and service guide. Go to Support and Drivers page, enter your model and look in User Guides section.

I have 2 HP G71 Notebooks - with WIN 7; 4:0 GB; 64 Bit and both dispaly the Internal Battery 601 error message. How/where do I get replacement batteries?
Replacement battery is a HP EV06
you can buy it from HP or Amazon, beware of really inexpensive non HP batteries, they do not last.

Primary (Internal) Battery for HP G50
I have the following notebook computer
Model: NP531UA HP G50-213CA NB PC FCAN
On startup, I get the following message
HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.
Primary (internal) Battery (601)
Questions:
- What battery is this message referring to (the "internal" bit leads me to believe it's the CMOS batttery but would like to be sure)?
- If this is referring to the CMOS battery, and what is the part number?
Thanks

View Solution.Hi,
The error message is a bit misleading as I believe it refers to your notebooks main battery. One way to confirm this would be to download and run the stand-alone battery test utility available on the page below and see if this reports any problems with your battery.

Ok so it comes up saying Primary internal battery 601???? but my notbook is like 2 years old how can the battery be dead? can some plz help me out heres he info on my notbook its a hp pavilion dv7 plz any help would be great
Yes, mine has been saying the same thing for a little while also. It's also a little over two years old. I like HP, but their parts are wearing out quickly. Best Buy tried to tell me my motherboard needed replaced last year for $900 - I left it alone until it started acting up again this year, and it's a $10 inverter that is causing the problem. I have no idea about this primary internal battery yet - I'll be doing some more looking to resolve this for myself as well.

HP Pavillion DV6-1330CA - Internal battery! - HELP!
Hello everyone:
My HP Pavillion DV6 seems to have some sort of battery problem as it says Error - hp internal battery 601 on boot up! The laptop is just over year old and out of HP warranty!
I'd like to know if HP can provide/sell this part to me.. Cost? and how can I replace it?
Also, can I get this battery locally or is it a custom battery manufactured by HP only?
Thanks in advance for all the help and suggestions.

It's just referring to the battery. Replace it and the error message will go away. You can buy the battery here -
Use of external battery cases, does it harm the iphone's internal battery?
Can the use of external battery cases harm the life of the internal battery in the iphone 4? (ie. Mophie juice pack air)
Absolutely not, but if looking for a protective case i would not recommend the mophie but if just using your phone for commercial use, then yes definitely use, it's helpful when you need a cordless charger

I have an eMac which shows the date and time as random figures, suggesting that the internal battery is dead. Where can I buy a replacement? My local Apple reseller does not stock them.
evan239"It is in Western Australia, in a suburb of Perth."
That helps! Considering adding that to your profile. It can get you help faster for future "where to get" questions. We have a lot of active helpers here who are your countrymen (and women).
You may be able to find a battery seller locally, The PRAM battery is not limited to computer use. That model is also used in alarm systems. Look for a "1/2 AA 3.6V lithium" battery--that's about as generic description as one can give.
I found a seller that has a chart of battery number equivalents:
http://www.medicbatteries.com/battery-cross-reference-guide
Look at the last line. There is a long list of manufacturers' battery numbers that are 1/2AA 3.6V. As long as you find one that's lithium (haven't seen any that aren't) you should be good to go.

Hi all, I have a question regarding internal battery care. I have seen other people pointing to posts on battery care but unfortunately they pertain to removable batteries. Question is, what is the best way to take care of an internal battery? I mainly work at my desk with the computer plugged in, Before, I would remove the battery. Now that the battery is internal, I can not. Do I leave it plug the entire time? Or should I unplug it once the battery is fully charged? Thanks!
Systems at this level should keep the battery trickel charged.THE key thing to know is that for long-term storage Lithium-ION batteries are best stored half full. And unlike the old days in rechargabeles its not good to run then down all the way regularly that will shorten LI batteries. They do best if you keep them topped off. http://www.batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

Internal battery for keeping date, time, etc.
Hi,
I am new to these discussions because up until this last year, my 2005 iBook G4 has had no problems. Currently, I have two issues going on. 1) The first I noticed was that the date and time had to be reset at start-up (warning message) 2) Then a grey box started coming up repeatedly telling me I had to restart computer. When I turned off Airport Extreme, this finally stopped, but now I can't get online with it. I know that Airport needs to be replaced, which is a big process I don't want to attempt at this point. The most I have done internally with a laptop has been to install additional memory. How difficult is it to replace the internal battery that keeps the date and time? Where is this battery located? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
TerriHey hs,
So you have a 1.33 or 1.42 GHz machine?
If this is your machine the Airport card is a combo Airport Extreme/BlueTooth card and is internal. It can actually be swapped out but you have to know what you're doing.
So like Lyssa says "dongle".
Real time settings are kept in PMU and settings are held via a super capacitor ( typically 2.2 Farads) in a no power situation. This cap will hold settings for around 30 seconds. Lon enough for you to change a battery.
