Internal battery low

I get the "internal hardware is low' and needs a replacement message. When I do need to get a new one for my Windows 7 laptop, do I lose what is on my laptop? I would rather not if that does happen T.T

Hi,
If the error reads 'Internal Battery Error (Error Code 601)' this means your notebooks main battery needs to be replaced.
You will not lose any data when replacing the battery.

    Hi,
Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ).
If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery.
If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins,needs new internal battery but I have no idea how to go about this. i love my ipod and don't want it to loose power completely, can anyone help?

My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins from full power, think it needs a new internal battery but have no idea how to go about this and am no longer covered by my guarantee. Can anyone advise me on what's best? Thanks in advance

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use an Apple wall-mount charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPod Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

    Hi,
There is a solved thread on this page about this error. The solution is to replace the battery because its storage capacity is low. The right part number can be found in a maintenance and service guide. Go to Support and Drivers page, enter your model and look in User Guides section.

  • Primary (Internal) Battery for HP G50

    - If this is referring to the CMOS battery, and what is the part number?

    Hi,
The error message is a bit misleading as I believe it refers to your notebooks main battery.  One way to confirm this would be to download and run the stand-alone battery test utility available on the page below and see if this reports any problems with your battery.

  • Battery low when taking a shot (20D)

Hi guys, I have strange problem with Canon 20D.
When I turn on camera everything is fine, but when I am doing 1-3 shots camera shows "battery low" or even turned off. I have several fully charged batteries and all of them have the same problem.
In the internet I found 2 main issues:
    1. Battery is not really charged. Not my case, I am checking on 3 different batteries.
    2. Contacts on the camera and battery need to be cleaned. I did this, but in any case when I just turn on the screen on the camera, then it works for hours, so battery and contacts are ok.
    What can I do else?

    biathlon wrote:
I don't think batteries are the reason, although they are old.
3 hours ago I turned on display on my camera, it's still working and still showing full change.
But, if I do 1-3 shots, then I will see "battery low".
Your camera is telling you that batteries are the reason, and not all error messages are wrong. It's possible that taking a picture causes a much higher current draw, and is therefore a greater challenge to the battery, than maintaining a picture on the screen. (This could be especially true if the internal flash was used.) It's at least worth trying a newer battery. Batteries for a 20D ought to still be available, especially if (as I suspect) it can accept the same batteries as the 50D, a very popular camera that people still use.

  • HP Mini 311 - HP Battery Alert - Primary (Internal) Battery (601) - Error Message at Startup

I have a HP Mini 311-1037NR (Product Number is VBM262UA#ABA).   My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.
When I start up my HP Mini 311 I receive the following message:
    HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low.  For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.
    Primary (Internal) Battery (601)
    ENTER - Continue Startup
    Here's are my questions:
First of all, what exactly is the problem here?  From what I have googled, it would appear the problem is NOT my external battery, but my internal battery.  What battery is needing replacement?  Does it have a name?
Second, is there a user guide out there that would assist me with the replacement process that someone can provide a link to or at least send me the page that helps me?  Is there a YouTube video (even better)?
Third, what exactly is the part number of the battery that needs replacement and exactly where do I purchase it (How much $$ does it cost)?  This question is important as I may be able to find out how to replace the battery, but without a way to purchase the replacement battery I'm still dead in the water.
Fourth, my HP Mini 311 just dies when I unplug it.  Will a remedy for the above issue remedy this issue as well?  I really do enjoy using my little HP Mini, but would prefer to have the option to use it without a power cord.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    Hi Tim,
No problem and it's certainly wise to verify an answer.
I'd say you posted your question on the correct board.  It's usually best just to post once on the relevant board.  I do agree that the term 'internal' does cause unnecessary confusion.
Here's a link to your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Yes, I'm certain that the 601 error code refers to your notebooks main battery ( 602 is a failure code for machines that have a secondary storage cell ).  Interestingly, there is no error code generated for a failing rtc battery - or any in built diagnostic test for it, just the usual symptom of the system clock re-setting after each shutdown.
There's also a HP document regarding start-up battery alerts on the following link.

  • Hp pavillion dv6z-1100 Internal Battery error 601

The Internal battery was replace with a new 3v.
After cmos battery was replace, the error continues to come up!
    error 601.
Also ,my hard drive went bad, i plan to replace the hard drive with WD3200BEVT SCORPIO BLUE MOBILE
HARD DRIVE 320MB AND INSTALL OPERATING SYSTEM.

I am getting the same error. Laptop is only 2 years old. On startup, I get the message and the request to press enter to continue, but then I get a low white to gray screen and it does nothing. So I force power off and at this point I don't konw what to do. If it were the external battery, why would this computer not run on the power cord? My Dell laptops will run without a battery, just using the power cord for electrical supply. I recently replaced the power cord, since the one that came with the laptop failed (I understand this is a very common problem for this model).

  • Ti Powerbook Internal Battery Question

    Folks,
I have a Ti Powerbook (400Mhz) and it has been stored for some time. When I tried to turn it on it would not start up. I have tried to recharge the internal battery, recharge the primary battery (which did not charge at ALL), reset the PMU and zap the PRAM. None of these things have worked and the computer still won't start. i am assuming from these things that the internal battery is dead. Can someone please tell me: 1.) where exactly the internal battery is located (I believe it is under the optical drive) ? 2.) How hard of an install a new battery would be (I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver) ? 3.) Can I buy a replacement battery at Radio Shack or the like? I would very much like to get this computer up and running for my fiance who is considering a switch from a......GULP.....Dell laptop. Thanks in advance for the help.
Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   None

Hi, epotkano, and welcome to Apple Discussions. When you tried to recharge the internal backup battery, did you do so without the main battery in place? If not, do. The backup battery is often resilient enough to come back to life and take a charge even when both batteries have been drained so long that the main battery defies resurrection, but it may only happen if the dead main battery is removed. If after 24 hours of attempted charging with the main battery removed, the Tibook still won't start, disconnect the backup battery's wire leads and try again. If the PB then starts up, the backup battery should be replaced. If it doesn't, the backup battery is not the problem — or not the only problem.
The backup battery module resides directly under the right wrist rest, above the slot-loading optical drive. You must remove the keyboard, the lower case (bottom panel) and the DVD drive to get to it. It isn't hard. The module (here's a picture) is a unit, though it contains several flat, disklike cells; if it has to be replaced, you replace the whole thing including its wire leads, not just the cells. It's only sold by specialty Mac parts dealers, and I notice that it's currently out of stock at iFixit.
