Internal Battery replacement

The clock on my iBook keeps losing its time because the internal battery needs replacement. Is there a schematic or some other diagram that shows the internal battery location on the iBook that is available on the Apple website? Thanks.

As the others have mentioned, the iBook does not have an internal backup battery. Check out Knoweldge Base Article #58445.
Since this is not the reason you're losing your date & time there must be another reason. Are you using the computer without the main battery installed? Is the power ever disconnected for a period of time? Is the main battery maybe loose and not continually charging the iBook?

Yes, mine has been saying the same thing for a little while also. It's also a little over two years old. I like HP, but their parts are wearing out quickly. Best Buy tried to tell me my motherboard needed replaced last year for $900 - I left it alone until it started acting up again this year, and it's a $10 inverter that is causing the problem. I have no idea about this primary internal battery yet - I'll be doing some more looking to resolve this for myself as well.

This is a VERY misleading message. It's actually the main battery. Before buying a new battery, please try the following test:

Replacement internal battery... is there an easy way ?

I need a new internal battery for a MacBook Pro 17" Mid-2009. The old one doesn't last any more, and has bulged and distorted the base so that the thing now rocks from side to side.
Given that batteries are a consumable, and 3rd party batteries are of unknown quality, I thought I'd spend the money and buy one from Messr Apple and Sons.
No such luck. External batteries are available in the Apple Store. Internal batteries, not.
So I consulted the chat people. When we finally agreed that the External battery was not what I wanted, I was referred to my nearest Genius Bar. Could they give me a price/availability/timescale ? No. I have to make time to visit my nearest Genius Bar to find out what they can do, when they can do it and how much this might cost.
Frankly, I don't think I need a Genius to replace the battery.
What's more, I don't have the time to waste schlepping my way to the nearest Genius, and would be more than a little irritated if they could not do the replacement on the spot... all this and I'm expected to either pay whatever the Genius wants for the battery and for fitting it, or just eat the waste of my time and go buy a 3rd party battery and have done with it.
Is there a better way ?

Why should I not attempt to install a battery on my own ?
I have been fixing my own machines since god was in short trousers. The inside of a MacBook Pro is really not that special.
If Messrs Apple and Sons were prepared to give me (a) a price, and then (b) do the battery swap at an arranged time, I might be just a little less irritated by the rigmarole.
But I'm also betting it would take two trips to sort this out... which is more BS than I am capable of sustaining without going postal on their posteriors.
I'm also really curious about the FUD surrounding 3rd party batteries... I'd be nervous buying anything on *B*y or *m*z*n or such-like from some no-name supplier. But there appear to be some specialist laptop battery suppliers around, who one would hope select their suppliers carefully. On the other hand, there also appear to be a number of poorly constructed fronts for no-name suppliers. IMHO what would be useful is a little more in the way of a reputation mechanism one could have some faith in (and a little less sucking of teeth and shaking of heads at the very idea of a battery which is not-made-for-apple-by-their-current-off-shore-suppliers).

My mac mini only shows a steady power light and fan noise when powered up. No video or sound and no commumication with wired keyboard or optical mouse. Tried replacing internal battery and resetting PMU/SMC but nothing seemed to happen. Any suggestions?

You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you.

I have been searching the site but am not confident I have the correct part number. My laptop is critical to my job and I must order a replacement ASAP. I appreciate the guidance!

This is a slightly misleading error message as it does in fact refer to your notebooks main battery, not the cmos battery. The reason it is call an internal battery is to distinguish it from the extended batteries that you can purchase with some models that attach to the outside of the laptop. Your battery should have a label with P/N.

Just to be clear, HP Policy is to run the battery check in Windows before replacing the battery. The 601 error alone is not enough unless you have a non-Windows based laptop (usually SUSE Linux or FreeDOS). The battery check should return a failure code that the support agent needs to initiate the replacement.

Battery life still poor after replacement with brand new internal battery!

The geniuses at the A-store can't find any hardware issues. The battery still only lasts 2-3 hours whereas before I could watch 2 full-lenth movies and still have 20% power left.
Fresh install of Snow Leopard makes no difference nor does booting from an external drive.
Reset PRAM, SMC, etc. but makes no difference. Does anybody knows what causes this sudden drain?
Also, will I be able to get my money back for the battery replacement since it made no difference (the old one was fine at 324 cycles and probably tossed.

Then error indicates that the primary battery (the one you can remove and replace) has a hardware failure. You should run Battery Check in HP Support Assistant.

There is a solved thread on this page about this error. The solution is to replace the battery because its storage capacity is low. The right part number can be found in a maintenance and service guide. Go to Support and Drivers page, enter your model and look in User Guides section.

On startup, I get the following message

Questions:
- What battery is this message referring to (the "internal" bit leads me to believe it's the CMOS batttery but would like to be sure)?
- If this is referring to the CMOS battery, and what is the part number?

Hi,
The error message is a bit misleading as I believe it refers to your notebooks main battery. One way to confirm this would be to download and run the stand-alone battery test utility available on the page below and see if this reports any problems with your battery.

G62 primary battery replacement

Every time I turn on my G62 laptop, I get a message stating that my primary (internal) battery is very low and needs to be replaced. I've done the test and it definitely needs to be changed. I'm having trouble figuring out which battery I'm supposed to buy. I tried searching the HP store, but I keep getting different results. Can someone link me to the appropriate battery? Thanks!

Standard battery is MU06, you can usually find Discounted Genuine HP batteries on Amazon or eBay by searching using MU06, be wary of low priced batteries that are not Genuine HP batteries, they use low quality Lion cells in them and they do not last.
