Internal Customer Name vs. External Customer Name

Is there somewhere in Customer Master information where I can store an internally used customer name vs the actual shipping name/invoicing name?
We have customers that do not want their official name on shipping labels because the boxes will get stolen based on the name of thier company.  So we want to have the official name in our system to search on and work with, but ship with some abbreviation or alias.
Example:
Internal Name: Jim Smith's Fine Jewelery Shop  (the real name)
External/Shipping Name: JSFJS Inc  (alias to hide the shipped contents)

Hi Brian,
I do not know if somebody already helped you on your question or you did, but here is a possible solution.
You can solve this problem by comple the NAME 1 field when you create your customer with the "real name" of the customer, and in NAME 2 with the "alias" name.
Then when you define your shipping and invoice documents, you must take the name of your customer from NAME 2 in the form.
Hope this may helps.
kindly regards!
Bea.

  • Internal column names

    HI,
Are there any internal column names which should not be used, when creating a column in custom list?
Also, when I try to create a column as "F1", the internal name is shown as something else..
Are there any columns like the "F1" which gets changed in the internal name?

  • CA stops Internal domain names for certificates

I have got this information from digicert http://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htm  is there any way to ensure all clients works properly.
Should we have to change our internal domain names to external ones, this will be a problem and visible. It gives us insecured feeling.
    Experts please throw your views.

    Hi,
Thanks for the great information from Andy.
Following is some detailed information on Split DNS, just for your reference:
Split-brain DNS is known by a number of names, for example, split DNS or split-horizon DNS. Simply, it describes a DNS configuration where there are two DNS zones with the same namespace – but one DNS zone services internal-only requests, and the other
DNS zone services external-only requests. However, many of the DNS SRV and A records contained in the internal DNS will not be contained in the external DNS, and the reverse is also true. In cases where the same DNS record exists in both the internal and external
DNS (for example, www.contoso.com), the IP address returned will be different based on where (internal or external) the query was initiated.
    Hope it is helpful

  • Internal Domain Names (good or bad?)

I'm just trying to establish what's good or bad about internal domain naming. I've currently got server.office (when viewed internally) but server.externaldomain.co.uk when viewed externally. But now the time has come to upgrade the servers and it seems a good time to reevaluate the naming and ip status of stuff. My question is that should a network's server and computers have internal dns (ala .office) or external naming linked to internal ip's (computer01.external.co.uk - 10.0.0.2)? What's the advantages of both.
    Thanks.

Personally I'd stick with the same name from a user's perspective, independent of whether you're using separate DNS zones internally.
Using mail as an example, you might configure 'mail.domain.co.uk' as the hostname for your mail server.
By publishing that name in both the internal and external DNS you only need to tell users to configure their mail client to talk to mail.domain.co.uk and they'll always get connected. The magic of DNS means they'll resolve the public IP address if they're outside the network, and the private IP address if they're in the office (or on VPN, etc.). Now users don't need to maintain separate mail profiles for internal and external accounts.
Now, whether or not mail.domain.co.uk is the actual hostname of the machine on the internal network is a different matter altogether. This could easily be CNAME'd to mailserver.office on the internal zone, allowing you to maintain the .office zone on the inside network which has advantages in that you know you should never serve .office to external clients.
Personally, in my network, there are no externally-visible hostnames that match the actual machine names.

  • How to create an Internal Customer  for Ineterplant stock Transfer

    Daer Gurus,
Please tell me how to create an Internal Customer for Interplant stock transfer.
Actually I have three plants out of them two plants are providing goods to third plant. Also both the plants do the stock transfer in eachother.
How to maintain the Two plants as supplier and third one as a receiver plant.
which account group I should use and what details I have to use for it ?  Do I need to maintain all three plants under same account group? I know the theoratical process only for stock transfer please guide me on this Internal customer issue.
    thanks in advance
    regards,
    Sanjay

    Hi,
Take your three plants as AAAA, BBBB and CCCC.... and these 3 plants may be assigned to the Sales Area of AAA 10 10, BBB 10 10 and CCC 10 10.
Your STO will have following 4 flows.
    1. AAAA - CCCC
    2. AAAA - BBBB
    3. BBBB- CCCC
    4. BBBB- AAAA
you need to do the following settings...
    1. Assign the Sales Area for the Shipping Plants... for ex (AAAA - AAA 10 10 and BBBB - BBB 10 10)
    2. You need to Create a Internal Customer for every Rec. Plant and need to assign the same to the Rec Plant. And Also note that this customer needs to be created in the Sales Area which is assigned in the Shipping Plant.
(Note that CCCC will be Rec Plant from Both AAAA and BBBB... So you need to extend that customer for both the Sales Area of the plants AAAA and BBBB)
Following is the example settings required for our scenario 1.
AAAA will be a supplying plant and CCCC will be rec. plant....  for this you need to create a internal Customer (for ex C1000) in Sales area AAA 10 10 (which is assigned to the plant AAAA) and assign the Customer number (C1000) to Plant CCCC.
Now you created a plant CCCC as a customer in Sales Area AAA 10 10 (which is nothing but plant AAAA)...
Also here you need assign the Sales Area AAA 10 10 to the Plant AAAA.
Hope this will be useful to you.
    Thanks,
    Muthu

  • Plant as a internal customer creation

how to create a plant as a internal customer, this is for sto and i want to know the steps in a sequential order, this would be great to appreciate you all
    thank u

    Hello,
Create a customer in the Delivering Plant / Sales Area and assign it to the ordering Sales org. This customer will act as internal customer.
This customer needs to be assigned to the ordering plant through SPRO --> IMG --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Purchase order --> setup Stock transport order
--> Define Shipping data for plants.
Select the ordering plant and assign the customer.

  • Trivia question: internal production name for the Mac Book Pro

    Hi,
I know Apple has internal production names for their products. So the Mac Book Pro has an internal name other than the Mac Book Pro.
i was curious, for trivial purposes, what is Apple's internal production name they use for the MacBook Pro?

Yes, the few people who worked on the project are just dying to post it here so that they can lose their jobs. I can't believe no one has replied yet!
Seriously, no one knew they were ven announcing a new name for the PowerBook outside of the Apple Campus until Steve announced it. Why would anyone know the unannounced codename?

can any one help me out in " Define internal customer no by sales orgn " hw excatly the customer has 2b defined to which sales area & company code .

    Hi jerry
Internal customer is the inter company customer .
this inter company customer is created in the delivering plant sales area and it has to be extended to ordering plant sales area
in your case delivering plant sales area is abcd / aa / cd
so customer should be created in the abcd / aa / cd and he  to be extended to  ordering plant sales area 2345 / 23 /45
company code should be different as you are doing inter company billing
This internal customer must be assigned in the ordering plant

  • Internal customer creation for interplant stock transfer

    hi all,
i just want to know which is the account group I can use for the internal customer.
and in that customer grp do I need to feel the dummy customer details like usual cust details ?  or what elase?
will the only one customer be ok for two different receiving plants?
In MM> Purchasing> Purchase Ord --> Define shipping data for plant
we have different plant entries there if we go for details of plant we can see the customer number and the sales area here i cant understand that what customer we have to assign, that internal customer ? which Sales Area, same of a internal customer ???
can we maintain the different combinations like supplier plant becoming the delivering plant and vice a versa.
Please guide me on above query.
    regards,
    Sanjay

    Hi,
    1. There is nothing about the Customer Account Group for Internal Customer... You may use the Standard Sold to Party account group for the same... But the best practice will be a different account group with different number range... this will be helpful to understand that this is internal customer when doing transactions... here you can also leave the non required fields....
if you use the Same Sold to party... its better to maintain different Customer Group for the internal customers...
    2.  what customer we have to assign, that internal customer ?  Yes That Internal Customer only... that means that whenever you create a delivery for this customer... the delivery will reach this Plant....
This internal customer number is assigned to the plants which will a receving plant in STO...
But the Sales Area here requires for Shipping Plant and not for recieving plant... This Sales Area is assigned to create delivery and Billing during the STO for this plant whenever the same is used a shipping plant... so this will not be same internal customer's sales area... but one of the sales area responsible for this plant....
    Hope this helps to you...
    Thanks,

  • Cant Launch Firefox from Mac with UTF8 International Domain name

From a Mac running OSX 10.7, I Launch Firefox with a UTF-8 string containing an international domain name:
I try to launch http://www.vihtilä.fi and Firefox responds: Can’t connect to http://www.vihtil\xc3\xa4.fi but the address bar string is correct. If I copy the address bar string, and paste it back into the address bar, then hit enter, the site opens. Safari and Chrome launch the correct site.
    \xc3\xc4 is the UTF8 representation of 'ä'
Firefox on Windows works correctly, but I pass it a WCHAR (UTF16) name.

    That is weird.<br />
The forum makes a correct and working link (www.vihtilä.fi) via preview, but changes the URL to the escaped encodeURI version when it is posted.
I can't replicate what you are doing, but the page opens via a desktop shortcut with "<b>-url http://www.vihtilä<i></i>.fi</b>" command line parameter.

trouble uploading to shootproof, keep getting an error that says "internal error, name not unique, color" any idea what this is and how to resolve it?

Note that you should be cautious when you get the 'untrusted' error message and that you should never create a permanent exception in cases like this without investigating the cause.
If you have created a permanent exception then best is to remove it in the Server tab in the Certificate Manager.

As IE7 is on the road, most major browsers support
    IDN(International Domain Name)
I think Server-scripting language should support IDN,
i.e. we should read IDN in server-scripting languages.
I've heard that there are some clues for reading IDN in PHP.

    For example,
#cgi.HTTP_HOST in ColdFusion read EDN(English Domain Name).
We need a kind of cgi variables which is likely named
"cgi.HTTP_IDN" which can read IDN instead of PunyCode.
How can I read IDN in ColdFusion?

  • Internal server name .local and having a certificate mismatch

I have one RD server with all the roles on it and I'm receiving a SSL certificate error because my internal server name is a .local and the SSL has been assigned to my apps.domainname.com address.
I've ran the powershell cmdlet Set-RDPublishedName to reflect the apps.domainname.com, but this doesn't seem to make a difference.

    Hi Bill,
    1. We know Set-RDPublishedName worked because it shows apps.domainname.com for Remote computer in the prompt.
    2. In Server Manager -- RDS -- Overview -- Tasks -- Deployment Properties -- Certificates tab, please make sure you have set your certificate for all purposes (RDCB Single Sign On, RDCB Publishing, RDWeb, RDG).  We know it is not set (at least) for
publishing because you are seeing the Unknown publisher warning.
    3. On the client PC, please make sure you have mstsc.exe version 6.2.9200 or later installed.  For Windows 7 you need to download and install the DTLS and RDP 8.0 updates.  Windows 8 and later already includes the new client.
    4. On your server, please enter the following in an administrator command prompt:
    wmic /namespace:\\root\CIMV2\TerminalServices PATH Win32_TSGeneralSetting Set SSLCertificateSHA1Hash="e2f034c171b92afc96b23b7f4da15728c1e461a9"
Substitute your certificate's thumbprint for the Hash listed above.  The quickest way to get your cert's thumbprint is to open the certificate, on the Details tab highlight the thumbprint with your mouse, press Ctrl-C to copy it, then paste it
into the command prompt using the system menu Edit--Paste command.  After pasting simply delete out the spaces in the thumbprint using backspace and the left arrow key.
    5. For best results with RD Web Access, please use IE and Allow and Run the Activex control when prompted.  Selecting the Private option on the RD Web logon page is preferred.
Once you finished with the above items please test again and reply back here with your results, whether positive or negative.
    Thanks.

  • Lync 2013 - Easy way to insert internal server name onto client

A little background.  Currently only the IT dept is using Lync 2010 or Lync 2013.  We are not using Exchange(happening soon though).  Our Lync Server is only internal(again working on building an edge server).  Our Lync
clients used to connect automatically with their AD name when restarting or logging into Lync.
Last week we noticed that Lync 2013 has upgraged to Skype for Business. This made us not log into Lync until we figured out why.  We finally figured out that if we put the FQDN in the Internal Server name Lync 2013 will work again(was left blank
before).  We stopped the updates from going out but a few still got it. We manually went around and fixed those Lync 2013 clients.  My question for you all is there an easy way to push the FQDN to the internal server name under Tools-->Personal-->advanced..? Looking
for a script that I can have them click or some other way.

    Hi Hurley081182,
Agree with others, it’s recommend to use Lync 2013.admx Administrative Template, which contain the registry-based policy settings that you configure for Group Policy objects in the domain.
For more details, please check out the following article.
