Internal Error in Frame 9

Hi,
On several independent occasions I have been experiencing an internal error when using Framemaker 9. I have, as yet, not been able to detect any cause for this error. The error log that is supposedly created is not to be found and, as a result, has not been sent to Adobe. Probably, the latter is an organizational issue to be solved by my system administrator.
Error code received:
Internal Error 9004 5247548, 5814661, 5091061
Any ideas?
Much obliged,
Pieter van de Sande
Eindhoven, Netherlands

I'm afraid that I can't help you with the internal error, but I noticed that you can't find the FrameLog files. My FM 9 installation often crashes when I quit FrameMaker, and I've searched the entire machine for them, to no avail. I'm quite sure that this is not due to an administrative issue because a week earlier I still had FM 8, and there were quite a few FrameLog files in the installation directory. Other Framers suggested to search for the files in the user profile (appdata\FrameMaker\9, application data\FrameMaker\9 or similar), and I found the directory, but not the log files.

  • What's going on here? -- Frame 11 throws "Internal Error 11004, 8122692..."

    Steps leading to "Internal Error 11004, 8122692..." follow:
    Installation notes re FrameMaker 11 -- September 19, 2012
    HW: Dell Optiplex 990 with 4G of memory
    OS: Windows XP with SP3 and current updates
    The installation proceeded without incident, and Frame 11
    launched as expected. The "Unstructured" option was chosen,
    because that is the mode in which our shop operates.
    Supporting software installed:
      - Adobe Acrobat Pro X, to be used as print driver
        by Frame 11 in order to produce .pdf output files
      - Several fonts (TrueType, PS1, and Open Type) needed
        to meet the needs of our test documents.
    Test document: an unstructured Frame book, consisting of
       one .book file and about 24 subsidiary .fm files.
       This book was prepared under Frame 8 and worked flawlessly
       in that environment.
       All of the constituent files were loaded in Frame 11 and
       saved in their converted form.
       End result: a reproduction of the original Frame 8 book,
       but converted to Frame 11 specs
    Testing procedure:
    1. When launching the .book file, Frame 11 behaved in the manner
       we've come to expect in our Frame 8 environment.
    2. We next opened and closed each .fm file in turn and determined
       that they all opened and closed correctly.
    3. Next, we ran an "Edit | Update Book" procedure, but without
       actually generating tables or lists, and without applying the
       master pages. Again, the behavior of the system was as expected.
    4. Next, we selected one of the constituent .fm files and attempted
       to print it via the "File | Print Selected Files" command on the
       "Adobe PDF" device.
    5. Result: an "Error" popup appeared with the announcement of
       "Internal Error 11004, 8122692, 8122986, 10866389. FrameMaker has
       detected a serious problem and must quit." Please see the attached
       graphic for additional details. "Frame_InternalError_.JPG:
    6. We retrieved that diagnostic file "FrameLog_12.09.19_15.11.18.txt."
       It is attached at the end of this message.
    7. We attempted to print the whole book from the "File | Print Book"
       command and encountered the same popup error message.
    Please advise how to resolve this problem. The procedure described works
    reliably on our Frame 8 installation, and we must be able to achieve this
    same functionality under Frame 11.
    with best regards,
    Radar2012

    Hi TesteurFou91,
    I have ever encoutner the error when I create an PDF via "Print Book" -> Adobe PDF. The error occurred right after I install TC Suite 4.0 from 2.5. I solve the error by running the update to FM 11.
    Hope this can be of any help.

  • What could cause "Internal error: java.lang.NullPointerException: can't not add null to SWF frame" when using compc?

    using flex sdk 4.6, and air sdk 15.0.0.356
    we get the following error when using compc in our ant build:
    [java] Internal error: java.lang.NullPointerException: can't not add null to SWF frame
    [java] at com.adobe.flash.swf.SWFFrame.addTag(SWFFrame.java:77)

    [java] at com.adobe.flash.compiler.clients.COMPC.main(COMPC.java:62)
    which seems to be rather vague, and offers no clue as to what caused the problem. so, my question is, what could cause this error?
    these are the compiler options we use in the build file:
    <java jar="${flex.compc.jar}" dir="." fork="true" failonerror="true">
          <jvmarg value="-Xmx512m" />
          <arg line="@{options} ${_compc.libpath} ${_compc.externspath} ${_compc.includespath}" />
          <arg value="+flexlib=${flex.frameworks.dir}" />
          <arg value="-load-config=@{config}" />
          <arg value="-source-path=@{src.dir}" />
          <arg value="-include-sources=@{src.dir}" />
          <arg value="-output=@{dest}" />
          <arg value="-swf-version=@{swf.version}"/>
          <arg value="-debug=${flash.debug}"/>
          <arg value="-advanced-telemetry"/>
    </java>
    assume that the properties resolve to correct values, since all projects (except one) call this task and compile successfully. the error must come from this one project that fails, but we don't know why.
    any ideas?

    You could be running out of memory, try increasing the -Xmx512m value to -Xmx1024m or another value that you prefer

    Sheila's reply seems to be the answer except that I was unable to save the .mif file as a .fm file. I created another .fm file and copied the text and graphics from the .mif into the new fm, which I was then able to rename to replace the corrupt .fm (which I had renamed to something else in the meantime).
    I would be nice to know what causes this kind of corruption in case it is something I can avoid in the future.

  • ISA Frame Work "Internal Error " In IPC 4.0 Webapplications

    Hi
    I had installed IPC 4.0 and also Webapplications.When i tried to open the file command.html for testing purpose as per installtion guide .i get the following error  in browser
    "ISA Framework: Internal Error
    Application cannot be startetContext parameter 'customer.config.path.xcm.config.isa.sapmarkets.com' is not maintained in web.xml.For further information see the description of the parameter and the installation guide".
    I had opened web.xml and updated the following parameter
    "<param-value>%sys.global.dir%/xcm/${com.sap.dc_name}</param-value> " with
    "<param-value>C:\xcm_dir</param-value> " but still gets the same error.
    Is any tool is available to modify the web.xml file or directly can modify or suggest me the correct value to be put in parameter (c:\xcm is the directory).
    thanks
    satish kumar

    Hi ,
    I dont think its a critical error.
    What's happening is that there is already user data in the roll in memory/buffer of some user but in the connection table(tm_adm) the user present at that time is different .
    i.e there was a mis match between user info in tm_adm and roll-in area due and hence the error.
    Scenario Could be:
    The user whose data is there in roll-in buffer must have logged off or his connection was suddenly terminated

  • Internal error when saving Frame file

    I recently got the following message when trying to save some files on the network:
    "An internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but has lost some image data. Please report this error to Adobe Technical Support."
    I had never seen this error before. When I try to update the book, I get the following error:
    "Cannot save one or more files in the book. Open each file on the desktop. Check the permissions of the file on the disk, and then save the file manually."
    This was never a problem before--this occurred all of a sudden. I checked the permissions and it hasn't changed. When I work on the book files locally, I can save the files just fine. I only get the errors when the files are on the network.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michelle

    Michelle,
    Some setting in your network configuration is messing with FM. If it
    works locally, then bring your files down to your local drive, do your
    work, and then re-upload them to the network outside of FM.
    FM and networks don't always get along. If you're using UNC naming for
    the network path, try to create a network drive instead.

  • Internal Error 7204, 6107874, 7775428, 0

    I've seen that I'm not the only one faced with the same problem of Internal Error 7202 but I'm getting rather annoyed because it is now nearly impossible to update a book without a crash. Typical error message as shown below.
    Error
    Internal Error 7204, 6107874, 7775428, 0. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.
    A file named "c:\program files\adobe\framemaker7.2\FrameLog_07.09.10_08.44.05.txt" has been generated which contains information that may help Frame development improve the product for future releases.
    Please describe your recent actions and send this, along with the generated file, to [email protected]. Due to the volume of feedback, we are unable to respond to technical questions. For support, please refer to http://www.adobe.com/support.

    Click on OK to terminate the program
    OK
    I'm using FrameMaker 7.2b158 in an XP Windows computer including all the latest patches. I've implemented some of the suggestions made in the forum like saving all documents in MIF format and then in fm-format again but nothing helps. So far I've been a quite happy user of FrameMaker because of its stability and capability of handling large documents / books but the status now is worse I ever had with any other Microsoft product. The problem is not new for me, I had it also when I used FrameMaker 7.1 and in the beginning of using FrameMaker 7.2 but it happened very infrequent.
    Sometimes, if I close FrameMaker and then re-start FrameMaker again before the update process, it works but it doesn't seem to be reproducible. Please not that I'm still working on the same document, a satellite user manual, although it's now much larger (about 20 files in book with a total page count of about 2500 pages).
    Of course there is also a crash log, but I cannot interpret this.
    Any ideas what is going wrong?
    Cheers
    Tommy Strandberg
    EADS Astrium GmbH / Germany

    My crash is related to conditional text and XRef tags, possibly in
    tables. I am using XP-pro SP2, plenty of RAM (almost 500MB available
    after opening all files), plenty of swap, etc. I have all files open,
    etc. This has nothing to do with generating PDF (which always seems
    to work for me). I have tried doing .fm->.mif->.fm and the symptoms
    did not change. Using Frame 7.1p114, non-structured.
    The key is that everything works with all conditional test shown (not
    hidden). Hide some conditions, click certain links and BOOM!.
    When I Show all conditional text I can update the book, and all
    XRefs are resolved (no errors). When I Hide some conditions and update
    the book all XRefs are again resolved (no errors). But, I can reliably
    crash Frame 7.1 just by double-clicking on certain links, in certain
    source files, to an XREF tag located in a table (my book has 50+
    files, 10+ conditional text options, thousands of XRef tags, etc.).
    I can choose a specific link and confirm that the XRef tag exists and
    is not hidden, both before and after hiding any text. Somehow, I think
    that Frame gets confused when hiding some other tag... but even so, it
    shouldn't crash.
    The crash symptom indicates attempting to access address 0x0..00
    (sometimes 0x0..04), which is correctly illegal (I have some sofware
    experience). This is a classic software problem, caused by coding
    flaws. Could be a NULL pointer (a software thing which remembers were
    something is stored) or by not checking a designed-in static
    limit... when the limit is exceeded the code executes into data space
    (i.e. address 0x0..00). In either case (and there are other potential
    causes), the root cause is a Frame implementation error; i.e. bug,
    flaw, etc.
    So, having said all this, I could use some advice on how to approach
    Adobe about fixing this. I have a 100% reproducable problem but,
    except for sending in the crash log, have not yet tried to contact
    Adobe.
    Advice welcome.
    Thanks

    We are running FM version 7.2b144 on MS Win xp Pro (32 bit), and I did not notice this until service pack 3 was installed. I believe I have found a work around to the situation and another contributing cause. If graphic files are placed directly in an anchored frame instead of importing by reference, the file somehow becomes misplaced. If you right click the graphic and open the Object Properties dialog box, and see the phrase "no referenced file" below Main Editor: Referenced File: in the lower left hand corner, this has happened. I found if I removed all graphics files without references and imported them by reference, the source file may then be properly saved. I am also using a program called CCleaner, which removes cookies, temp files, browsing history and the like from a system. If the program settings are chosen too aggressively, and the application runs when FM has a file open, this same error will occur, even if all files are referenced properly. I don't know if SP3 has some similar application which is now running in the background and causing this.
    To summarize, if you want to retain SP3, I have eliminated this error by confirming the links to referenced graphics files and avoiding using 3rd party "cleaners" while FM is open.

  • JVM 1.4.2_12-b03 Internal Error assistance?

    Hi all
    We have a production application running on WebLogic 8.1 SP4 that has recently been crashing out giving the below error. We've tried adjusting our JVM settings from
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=60 -Xms2048M -Xmx2048M -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:MaxNewSize=512M -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGC -Xloggc:gc.log"
    to
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-server -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=60 -Xms2048M -Xmx2048M -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:MaxNewSize=512M -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:+UseParallelGC -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGC -Xloggc:gc.log "
    as we believed the problem might lie with the CMS collector since the system bailed out whilst performing this type of collection but the system has since crashed with the revised arguments. Anyone encountered the same error?

    lists (as of this moment) the workaround -XX:-CMSParallelRemakrEnabled -XX:CMSMakrStackSize=64m
    (or some suitable large value, i think the default is 8M, but am not sure; however
    this can increase the GC pause "CMS-remark" pause times, which
    could be as much as ~3 x on your 4 cpu box):-

    The latest publicly available version of 1.4.2 is 1.4.2_17, so you might
    consider upgrading to that instead of to 1.4.2_14.
    Aside: I notice that you are using the "client jvm"; you might consider the
    server jvm (via -server) for improved performance.

  • Internal error ORA-3135 and huge udump

    I don't know if this should be addressed here in this forum rather then metalink, but anyway I will try.
    I get an internal error and a huge udump trace-file (2 Gb), the situation is that I created a view with a reference to a package function in the where clause which causes the DB-engine to this internal error exach time I want to select from this view.
    Now, the trace-file which is created is 2Gb, and I show hereby the first lines:

    The block PACKAGE BODY SSU.PCK_APPREGISTRY:
    repeats itself with little difference till the end of the trace file.
    During creation of the tracefile the machine on which the DB works is busy with oracle taking up 99% of CPU and is hardly operable.
    I could upload a zipped version of the trace file (still 50MB) but it doesn't contain a lot different info than the above subtract.
    The error is consistent in that way that it is recurring each time I select form the view.
    Can U help?

    Found it, thread can be closed.
    The problem was caused by a recursive call in a package body.

  • JNI - core dump - internal error on linux after calling Java method

    I'm getting a core dump after calling athe main statric method using JNNI.
    On linux.
    I can get the class id correcttly but when I attempt to call the method it craches with an internal error , anyone know why it would crash instead of just not work.
    if(cls)
        main_methodID = env->GetStaticMethodID(cls, "main", "([Ljava/lang/String;)V");
           printf("Class Found Successfully\n");
      else
        printf ( "cls not found\n");
        return 0;
      if(main_methodID)
              jstring first_str = env->NewStringUTF("The First String");//create string
              jobjectArray args = (jobjectArray)env->NewObjectArray(1,env->FindClass("java/lang/String"), first_str);//new array with 2 elements
                   env->SetObjectArrayElement(args, 2, first_str);//insert the second string into index 1 of the array
              jstring second_str = env->NewStringUTF("The Second String");//create string
              env->SetObjectArrayElement(args, 1, second_str);//insert the second string into index 1 of the array
         env->CallStaticVoidMethod(cls, main_methodID, args);//pass the array to the Java main method
                                  The JAVA method is
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Main method in Framework");
            Framework framework = new Framework();

    I see yere points but what I see on linux is it makes it to the constructor of the Java object and somewhere afterwards it bails out, the Java app does work alone. It appears to have problems initializing the JFrame, could there be a problem with the Java inheritance when a JVM is invoked throurgh native invocation??
    Here's some of the Java stuff
    public class Framework extends WindowAdapter {
        public int numWindows = 0;
        private Point lastLocation = null;
        private int maxX = 500;
        private int maxY = 500;

            numWindows++;
            System.out.println("Number of windows: " + numWindows);
            System.out.println("Frame location: " + lastLocation);
            frame.setVisible(true);
            System.out.println("Post Java set frame visible");
        public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Main method in Framework");
            Framework framework = new Framework();//GETTING HERE
    class MyFrame extends JFrame {
        protected Dimension defaultSize = new Dimension(200, 200);
        protected Framework framework = null;
        public MyFrame(Framework controller) {
            super("New Frame");
            System.out.println("MyFrame cnst ");//NOT GETTING HERE!!!!!!
            framework = controller;
            setDefaultCloseOperation(DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
            addWindowListener(framework);
            JMenu menu = new JMenu("Window");
            menu.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_W);
