Oracle ODBC - Internal Error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load
I'm having some trouble with my ODBC connections which I hope someone can please help me with!
About 6 weeks ago all was working as normal.
As far as I know there have been no updates to the ORacle DB, the Windows XP operating system or the ODBC Drivers.
Today when I opened access and visual case 2 to connect to Oracle I was at first greeted with a:
unable to connect SQLState=IM004 SQL_HANDLE_ENV
error. ODBC also kept crashing.
I restarted the computer and was confronted with a different error:
odbc SQLSTate 08004 ORA 12154 TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I was able to fix this error by setting the environment variable TNS_ADMIN in windows xp environment variables. I'm extremely confused about how this happened though as it was working and I don't think anything has changed.
I was then able to connect to the database via Microsoft Access but when I opened Visual Case 2 and tried to make an update, I was confronted with the following error:
Oracle ODBC Driver - internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load
I looked in the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb10g_home1
and NLS_LANG was set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252" in all 3 places.
(Though KEY_OraClient10g_home2 only had 4 entries as opposed to KEY_OraClient10g_home1's 13 entries)...
Since I made those changes I can no longer connect through Access.
I just receive a ODBC - connection to 'xxx' failed
Advice greatly appreciated!!!!
Edited by: user11150264 on Aug 25, 2009 10:21 PMActually it sort of does...
I switched the ODBC connection to use instant client and now it's all working again.
The biggest mystery is what changed to make it suddenly stop working the old way... -
ORA-20079: WM internal error [unable to rename table]
Hi,
I am getting following error when i try to enable versioning on a table. Any idea how to resolve it ?
BEGIN DBMS_WM.EnableVersioning('TestTable'); END;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-20079: WM internal error [unable to rename table]

ORA-06512: at "SYS.LTDDL", line 1193

ORA-06512: at "SYS.LT", line 8024
ORA-06512: at line 1
thanks
-naHi,
You need to determine the original error that is being generated by oracle. This can be done by attempting to rename the table yourself. For example:
SQL> alter table TestTable rename to RenamedTable ;
That will give you a better understanding as to why Workspace Manager is unable to rename the table. Also, what version of the database and workspace manager are you using ?
If the direct rename succeeds while enableversioning continues to fail, then you would need to file a TAR on this.

When trying to troubleshoot why I am getting "connection refused" for samples/jaxrpc/simple I found I am getting the following errors in server.log.
[08/Sep/2003:16:08:41] INFO (17045): CORE3016: daemon is running as super-user

[08/Sep/2003:16:08:41] SEVERE (17045): CORE3187: Late initialization failed: Err
or running init function(late) init-j2ee: unknown error
I'm running on RedHat 7, kernel 2.4.20-20.7, with Java j2sdk1.4.2_01. The env $PATH includes /bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin:/root/bin:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01/bin:/opt/SUNWappserver7/bin
I did not see anything else that I need to configure in the environment other than [Install home]/bin in $PATH. I found nothing about special $CLASSPATH settings.
Anybody have any ideas?Hi Steve,
I don't know what does internal error means, may be you could set the log level to fine to get more detail error messages.
I remember myself getting "connection refused" exception.I resolved it by referring the troubleshooting section in the docs shipped with sample on resolving this error.
Get back if still have any issues.

Internal Error - Unable to generate SQL for this Scheduled Workbook
I am encountering the following error when loading the results of a Scheduled Workbook;
Internal Error - Unable to generate SQL for this Scheduled Workbook (If you scheduled this workbook using a previous version of Discoverer, please reschedule and re-open)
This only happens for one of the scheduled workbooks and I am struggling to find an explanation to the problem. There are no reference to database links in the workbook so I can rule that out as a cause.
Does anyone have any suggestions to what might be causing the problem?
Many thanks
StewartHi,
The version is OracleBI Discoverer Plus Version 10.1.2.48.18. Do you think this has anything to do with it?If you are on this version, then you have the recommended patches applied.
Did you try to reschedule the workbook and see if this helps in resolving the issue?
I would suggest you enable server logging as this may help in collecting more details about the error.

AlexWell known issue in LMS 2.6. Most likely you are hitting CSCsm97530. As a temporary solution you could remove and re-add problematic device from CS. To get a permanent fix you need a patch (provided by TAC).

Thanks to allOk. I've managed to solve my problem. Thanks to everybody.
For anyone who is interested in here is the solution that fixed the error for me :
Because I had before installed JVM version 1.4.2 and then I uninstalled it and put the version 1.4.1_01, as the one that App Server 7.0 is using, the uninstaller has left a newer version of jvm.dll in WINNT/System32
After I've renamed this file to _jvm.dll (for example), just to get rid of it, the domain and his instances have started correctly.
Good luck! -

Internal error: Unable to find the access rule.
I have a Cisco ASA 5550 and using ASDM 6.2.
Opening the ASDM, in Firewall Dashboard, in Top 10 Access Rules, show the second rule with more hit: "interface X | source: any | Dest: any | Service: ip | Action: Permit.
During the day, the hits increase and decrease.
Well, the problem: That rule there isn't.
When I click with the right mouse button and click on show rule, a message is displayed:

I can't find the rule in Configuration Mode and in Console Mode.
Well, the rule there isn't.
What can I do for this rule disappears from the Top 10 Dashboard?I suggest opening a case with Cisco TAC. This could be an issue with the device itself.

RahulI suggest opening a case with Cisco TAC. This could be an issue with the device itself.

Using Captivate 6 (64bit) on Windows 7 machine. When I try to upload a demonstration video to YouTube I get the error: adobe captivate video encountered an internal error (unable to understand category list). Any ideas what would be causing this?

Hi
LMS 4.2.4 inventory collection fails with Error RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device for few devices.
Can anyone help me out.
Regards
LaxmiThey are definately supported. However such issues are usually due to device packages, if unavailable or not installed.
Please do following :
1. Check Admin > software centre > device updates and check any devices packages available in Cisco.com and install it and recheck.
2. Please do a snmpwalk on problematic device on sysObjectID and share result. Following is the way to do snmpwalk :
GUI - Open the device in Device Centre (Inventory > Tools > Device Center) and open the device with IP and from tools select snmpwalk and do it for sysObjectID (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2)
CLI : CD to NMSROOT/objects/jt/bin from command prompt. run command as per following syntax:
snmpwalk -v2c -c <snmp_community_string> 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
Example :
community string = test123
IP = 10.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c test123 10.1.1.1 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
3. Please check your device package, by clicking on the number of packages in front of Inventory, conifg and image management from :
Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update
Also, check device identity under edit identity option from :
Inventory > Device Administration > Add / Import / Manage Devices
Check my screenshots for details :
Please check and share results.
