Internal failure 0x80040707 access denied

Sorry to bring up an old topic problem, but the search turns up posts dating back to 2004 and the links do not work. Anyway...
I get an "internal failure 0x80040707 access denied" upon loading iTunes and QuickTime after the required reboot either with the CD or with the downloaded versions from the web.
I did not connect the Ipod to the computer until after the software was installed.
I have tried all the below with Norton Antivirus disabled:
1) upgraded XP Pro from SP1 to SP2.
2) installed and uninstalled iTunes and QuickTime many, many, many, many times, using the uninstaller and the Windows Install Clean Up downloaded from
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108322
and using task manager to remove remnants (qttask.exe, ip*, qt*).
3) followed the instructions at
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167
there were no problems with the registry.
4) installed only the iPod updater and not installed iTunes and QuickTme from the CD (nothing works, but I still get the error message on reboot.
5) deleted the folder containing iPod and QuickTime after an unsuccessful install.
iTunes runs after the reboot, but in preferences it says no iPod is connected when it is connected. The iPod when connected to the 'puter says "Do not disconnect" with a spinning "sun" in the upper left hand corner. The do not disconnect never goes away, even after leaving it alone overnight.
Windows knows the Ipod is connected to a USB port and says it is "working normally."
QuickTime will play "stuff."
I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Best Buy who said to call Apple. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Apple who said call Dell. I Spent 15 minutes on a chat with a Dell tech who ended the conversation with out giving me any help (was goin' home time for him).
I've probably got about 30 hours into this and my kid is wondering when her iPod will work.
Any advice or pointers?
Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Katrina,
Maybe this?

1909?
I don't know how to do this as the message occurs when I reboot and before my desktop icons are loaded. The first window that appears is the InstallShield completing the software load, I guess. Then the "internal failure error 0x80040707" window appears. At that point my only choice is to click "OK" or "X" on the Internal falure window. After that disappears the "access denied" window pops up. The Taskbar is not loaded either.
Or you can make sure your music files are backed up
and in a safe place, and go through your PC and
remove anything that says Apple on it. In both
Windows Explorer & the registry.
Then reinstall iTunes, QT and the iPod updater?
Also, just curious, you said you installed the iPod
updater, but did you also run the updater with the
iPod attached and actually update the iPod?
No. The updater window appears and the initializing message never goes away (the iPod is connected with the "do not disconnect" messge displayed.
Thanks for your help!!

    1) First of all create the Seeburger Certificates.

  • Error: 0x80040707 - Access Denied while installing itunes +ipod messed up

    Yesterday morning my ipod (nano) was working fine, and i plugged it in to upload music and it said something about installing a new version of itunes on my ipod. i clicked yes, and somewhere during installation i assume, it got unplugged by one of my family members wanting to use a USB outlet. well, it deleted everything on my ipod, and then it wouldnt recognize my ipod in itunes.
    i went to the site, did all the restore, restart, retry, crap until i got to reinstall. when i try to reinstall itunes, or remove "ipod for windows 01 -09-06" [not sure about that date] i get "Error: 0x80040707" in a popup window, then another saying "Access Denied"
    Before i tried to reinstall itunes, it still wouldnt recognize my ipod either. when i plugged it in, it would say "removable disk: f" like it was just a usb memory stick or something. i really have no idea what to do as i am new with the whole itunes stuff, and have previously used musicmatch.
    thanks

    Hi there...grrr...I always hate this type of error because sometimes it is problematic to fix.
    First off, remove iTunes and Quicktime and do a nice, fresh clean install. Save it to your harddrive and install it from there instead of running the installation over the internet.
    Also, try this as it has helped a few with this particular bug
    1. Run the setup program and PAY ATTENTION to the folder where you are installing the software. Keep clicking on the "Next" button and here it is, the progress bar.
    2. When the progress bar reaches 100% and you get the 0x80040707 error message, DO NOT click "Accept" or "Ok" or whatever says the button in the error window. Instead proceed as I describe:
    3. Go to the the folder where the program is supposed to be installed. Yes, it's there!. Copy this folder to another location (for example, to the desktop).
    4. Now click "Accept" or "Ok" in the 0x80040707 error window. This will erase almost every file in the folder where the program was originally installed. Who cares? You have a copy of it.
    5. Now overwrite this almost-empty original installation folder with the one you back-upped.
    6. If you want you can even create manually a shortcut of the EXE file that launches the software wherever you like. Double click it.
    Let me know if it helps. Anyone else with a suggestion, feel free to throw it out.

    Hi,
    Execute the following steps to resolve this issue:
    Start both managed servers once from the aserver domain.
    This will create a merged system policies file in domain/config/fmwconfig
    Stop both managed servers
    Start both managed servers from mserver domain.
    This will make sure that the system-jazn-policy.xml copied over from domain/config/fwmconfig contains the policies for both SOA and BAM servers
    The above steps will copy the system-jazn-policy.xml created from aserver domain to the mserver domain so that it will avoid overwritten of the system-jazn-policy.xml file

    Critical failure.

    I'm having the same problem with Lion 10.8.4
    I've tried three different browsers with similar results.

    Any ideas?  I know we have the Secure desktop set to scan for antivirus for all connections.  I know that my AV is on the list and supposedly compatible.

    Hi Carlos,
    Metalink has some information regarding what sounds like a solution to your problem under Doc Id : 265228.1. Have a read and let us know if this is for you and whether you get it working in a development environment.
    Symptoms
    Discoverer 10g (9.0.4) Plus and Viewer throws 'page cannot be displayed'
    Other symptoms
    A.) Discoverer Plus shows a file download dialog with virus warning "Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source,do not open or save the file."
    Opening or cancelling will again throw "page cannot be displayed"
    B.) Plus throws a blank page and Viewer throws 500 internal server error
    Cause
    Installation failure on configuring discoverer in OC4J_BI_Forms may caused the problem.
    Using pre-production / beta code (M16b shiphome) will cause the problem.
    Fix
    1.) Edit the file $ORACLE_HOME(midtier)/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/config/java2.policy
    2.) Add the below lines at the end of the file
    ================================
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/discoverer/lib/discoverer5.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/j2ee/home/-" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/portal/jlib/pdkjava.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/portal/jlib/ptlshare.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    ===========================
    3.) Restart OPMN.
    4.) Invoke Discoverer Plus or Viewer.
    Let us know how you get on.

  • JSpell socket error, access denied

    I'm working to get JSpell up and running using the demo form and the 2004 version of JSpell. After going through the Options dialog in the demo when the form loads. I click OK and then click spell check. I get the following error in forms but not in the java console
    FRM-92100: Your connection to there server was interrupted. This may be the result of a network error, or a failure on the Server. You will need to reestablish your session.
    Details...
    Java Exception:

    The entries in the java console just prior to this error:

    When I put the URL http://fornax.cimx.internal:8889/jspell2k4/servlet/JSpellServlet?operation=languages
    (from the "Opening" line in the java console) into my browser I get "English (US)|". So I know the path works.
    I have seen some posts that say this error may have to do with signing the servlet. Could this be the issue and if so, how might I go about signing JSpell, shouldn't it already be signed?

    wow, who would have guessed. I am assuming that since the connection to the formsserver was using the ip in the address that there was an issue using the computer name in the URL instead of the address. Not sure why that makes a difference but if anyone knows that would be helpful.
    I changed the URL for the JSpell servlet from:
    http://fornax.cimx.internal:8889/jspell2k4/servlet/JSpellServlet
    to
    http://127.0.0.1:8889/jspell2k4/servlet/JSpellServlet
    and everything works.

    Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain  by mail messaging microsoft

    It is affecting all users.
    I have scoured the net and tried many solutions.  I have disabled both the anti-spam software and Symantec.
    I am at a loss.  I am willing to try a reconfigure that doesn't require an outside relay or try and fix this issue but the system has been down for the organization for too long.
    Any advice is appreciated!
    Thank you

    Hi ,
    1.On the exchange cas server please check the option anonymous users is checked on the receive connectors under permissions groups.
    Connector name : Default front end connector
    Note : Anonymous users needs to be checked on the above mentioned connector in all the cas servers to accept the anonymous connections coming from internet.
    2.However please tell me ,For you exchange organisation where you have pointed your MX records ?
    3.Did you done any recent change on the receive connectors ?
    4.Please do the inbound email test from EXRCA tool and share me the results .
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Access Denied Web Application with Claims authentication NTLM only when using secondary URL

    I have a SharePoint 2010 server farm with 2 web front ends, an application server and a database server.  Both front ends are internal to
    our network and are not behind a load balancer.
    NOTE THAT I HAD TO SUBSTITUTE hzzp with hzzp so that I had no links in the body of this post since I am not verified
    I setup a new web application called "SharePoint 41171" with:
    Public URL:
    hzzp://testserver1:41171
    Claims authentication
    NTLM only: no forms auth
    No SSL
    New web site "SharePoint 41171"
    New app pool
    New content database
    I create a top level site collection and name mydomain\myusername as the primary site collection admin
    I am able to access this site as expected at
    hzzp://testserver1:41171 with the aforementioned site collection owner id: mydomain\myusername
    I add an alternate access mapping for a secondary URL for this web application in the Intranet zone:
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
    So my AAMs for the site read as:
    hzzp://testserver1:41171
    Default     hzzp://testserver1:41171
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
    Intranet     hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
    When I attempt to log on to
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com with the same user name and password, I get "access denied".
    I can access this site using
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com if I log in as the farm account.  This is the only account that seems to work.
    Side Note: If I create a separate web application without claims - just NTLM and create the same AAMs, I can login fine with the same secondary
    URL and the same user name
    IP address properly maps to this machine.
    I reviewed the ULS logs and find the following:

    Basically it tells me that access is denied.  I didnt see anything that stood out here.
    I found this article:
    hzzp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadminprevious/thread/ded9188b-ee03-4ef0-bb50-3ad138110e0c, which pointed me in the direction of ensuring that the portal
    super user and portal reader accounts were properly added to my web application.  I followed the every popular article on doing this:
    hzzp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx, but still no luck.  As per the thread, I added the 2 domain accounts to the user policy with appropriate privilege
    and then set them as the super user and super reader accounts via powershell, and yes I did prefix those names with "i:0#.w|mydomain\".  To be exta sure, I repeated this for all web applications on this server with slightly different powershell steps
    depending on wether or not claims was enabled on the web application.
    The Claims to Windows Token Service is running.
    I saw some mention of ensuring that the secure token service is running with a proper application pool account, but we are not running that service
    and I cant imagine what that would have to do with my situation.
    I have deleted and readded the web application and repeated these steps to no better effect.
    I gave the mydomain\myusername full control for the web application through the user policy, ensured that it was indeed the primary site collection
    owner and added it to the default site owners group.  None of this helped.
    I changed the application pool account to the farm account.  No change in behavior.
    Rebooted IIS and the machines many times along the way.
    Further, when I attempt to sign in as a different user after being denied, I get "an unexpected error has occured message.  I found the following
    in ULS:

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks spadminspadmin:
    I have, though I am not sure that what I've added there is correct:
    The URL that I am trying to use to access the web application's IIS site is hxxp://iwatest.mydomain.com.  I added a binding to the IIS site as follows:
    Type    Host name                      port        IP address
    http     iwatest.mydomain.com     41171     *
    Is that correct?

  • RMI access denied ERROR

    I got the following problem.
    My Server code is a simple RMI Server. I've also made a new policy
    grant {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;
    };And give the following run commands: -Djava.security.policy=/home/nxt/java/SimpleRMI.policy
    I did the same for the client:
    Only with a different run command:
    -Djava.rmi.server.codebase=file:/home/rawi/Desktop/Server/build/classes/server
    -Djava.security.policy=/home/rawi/Desktop/Server/build/classes/server/SimpleRMI.policy
    When I remove this from my code:
    if (System.getSecurityManager() == null)
    System.setSecurityManager (new RMISecurityManager());
    The data does arrive on de Server, but the client gives me the following error:
    java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling return; nested exception is:

    I did the same for the client:
    Only with a different run command:
    -Djava.rmi.server.codebase=file:/home/rawi/Desktop/Server/build/classes/server Codebase is specified at the server only, unless the client is exporting remote objects of its own (i.e. callbacks).
    Also that codebase specification would be wrong anyway - it should stop at 'classes', assuming 'server' is a package.
    Finally, if you are using the codebase feature you must have a security manager in the client, as the exception is telling you.
    Exception in thread "main" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 145.24.159.188:6666 connect,resolve)
    at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323)So your client isn't seeing your .policy file. Run it with -Djava.security.debug=access,failure to check that. There's somethign wrong with the way you've specified the policy file.
    registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(serverAddress,
    (new Integer(serverPort)).intValue());Why are you holding the serverPort as a string in the first place?
    Server code:
         public void run()Why does the server have a run() method? That's not usual. Just put all that stuff into the constructor.
