I don't know how to do this as the message occurs when I reboot and before my desktop icons are loaded. The first window that appears is the InstallShield completing the software load, I guess. Then the "internal failure error 0x80040707" window appears. At that point my only choice is to click "OK" or "X" on the Internal falure window. After that disappears the "access denied" window pops up. The Taskbar is not loaded either.
Or you can make sure your music files are backed up
and in a safe place, and go through your PC and
remove anything that says Apple on it. In both
Windows Explorer & the registry.
Then reinstall iTunes, QT and the iPod updater?
Also, just curious, you said you installed the iPod
updater, but did you also run the updater with the
iPod attached and actually update the iPod?
No. The updater window appears and the initializing message never goes away (the iPod is connected with the "do not disconnect" messge displayed.
Thanks for your help!!

  • Internal failure 0x80040707 access denied

Sorry to bring up an old topic problem, but the search turns up posts dating back to 2004 and the links do not work. Anyway...
I get an "internal failure 0x80040707 access denied" upon loading iTunes and QuickTime after the required reboot either with the CD or with the downloaded versions from the web.
I did not connect the Ipod to the computer until after the software was installed.
I have tried all the below with Norton Antivirus disabled:
    1) upgraded XP Pro from SP1 to SP2.
    2) installed and uninstalled iTunes and QuickTime many, many, many, many times, using the uninstaller and the Windows Install Clean Up downloaded from
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108322
and using task manager to remove remnants (qttask.exe, ip*, qt*).
    3) followed the instructions at
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167
there were no problems with the registry.
    4) installed only the iPod updater and not installed iTunes and QuickTme from the CD (nothing works, but I still get the error message on reboot.
    5) deleted the folder containing iPod and QuickTime after an unsuccessful install.
iTunes runs after the reboot, but in preferences it says no iPod is connected when it is connected. The iPod when connected to the 'puter says "Do not disconnect" with a spinning "sun" in the upper left hand corner. The do not disconnect never goes away, even after leaving it alone overnight.
Windows knows the Ipod is connected to a USB port and says it is "working normally."
    QuickTime will play "stuff."
I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Best Buy who said to call Apple. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Apple who said call Dell. I Spent 15 minutes on a chat with a Dell tech who ended the conversation with out giving me any help (was goin' home time for him).
I've probably got about 30 hours into this and my kid is wondering when her iPod will work.
    Any advice or pointers?
    Thanks for any suggestions!!!

    Hi
I recntly was playing on my computer and when i tried to move songs to my ipod i got an error saying that the ipod could not be updated. i backed up all of my music and ininstalled itunes. i tried to reistall itunes and when the installation bar comes up i get an error message Internal Failure
    Error Number:0x80040707
    Description:
Can someone help. i can't use itunes now and my ipod is empty.

Hi there! Thats a common error message. Try this and see if it works:
    1. Run the setup program and PAY ATTENTION to the folder where you are installing the software. Keep clicking on the "Next" button and here it is, the progress bar.
    2. When the progress bar reaches 100% and you get the 0x80040707 error message, DO NOT click "Accept" or "Ok" or whatever says the button in the error window. Instead proceed as I describe:
    3. Go to the the folder where the program is supposed to be installed. Yes, it's there!. Copy this folder to another location (for example, to the desktop).
    4. Now click "Accept" or "Ok" in the 0x80040707 error window. This will erase almost every file in the folder where the program was originally installed. Who cares? You have a copy of it.
    5. Now overwrite this almost-empty original installation folder with the one you backuped.
    6. If you want you can even create manually a shortcut of the EXE file that launches the software wherever you like. Double click it. Does it work?

You should only see that message once after having updated.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Rep-0076 Internal failure in Product Integration

    Hi

    I call report using

Sometimes rep-0076 comes. Sometimes it does not. Would you
suggest what is the best way to get rid of this error? Is this
    the problem with memory?.
    Thanks.

Have a read through the paper Oracle9iAS Forms Services 6i and Reports Integration.
This white paper explores various ways to implement calls to Oracle Reports from Forms running on the Web. This paper is on OTN under "products" link, then "Forms" link under Oracle 9i Application server related features & Products, then "Internet Deployment" link and you will find this paper.

  • Help: iPod classic, cannot install or de-install software

When I load the iPod CD for Windows, it errors out with "1628:failed to complete installation" but it shows up in my add/remove software section of control panel. When I try to de-install it, it errors out with "internal failure 0x80040707 description" so I am hoping someone can help me either complete the installation or remove the partially installed software. Very frustrating as I just received an iPod shuffle which I cannot download software for because it errors with "this installation cannot directly upgrade the version of iPod software found on this computer. Please uninstall the iPod software and try again." HELP! Thanks!

Some of those error message numbers are a bit of a blast from the past. (especially the 0x80040707.)
    Try the following procedure:
go into your Add/Remove programs, and uninstall every entry you find in there called "ipod for windows {date}" or "ipod updater {date}".
if Add/Remove won't let you remove one of those, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to remove the installation configuration of any entries called "ipod for windows {date}" or "ipod updater {date}". (Launch CleanUp, find those entries in the list of programs given in CleanUp, select the relevant entries and then click "Remove".)

    Restart the PC.
Does an itunes install go through properly after that?

I have a problem with my main server on a OS X server 10.10.1 (Mac mini)
Clients cannot log in to the IMAP side of an account on the server.
So when using the mail client Connection Doctor the SMTP is successful and the IMAP portion not.
This happens with both accounts Local as with the accounts in the Open Directory service
The log of the Open Directory service indicates that ist was an successful login.
    The IMAP log shows.

The reason that I wanted to use WGM was because it allows you to configure a maximum backup volume size per machine. If you just configure through TM, a single machine could fill the entire volume with backups.
I know that there's a way to use hdiutil to max the sparsebundle size that is created when you don't use WGM, but lets face it folks - if the option is there, then apple should support it!

  • Is the text associated with "0x80040707" significant?

    hi y'all
i've seen two posts today about errors referencing "0x80040707". but the
    b text
associated with each error message is different.
i've also seen a fix (involving editing the registry) that references the "0x80040707" number. but the fix is for an "0x80040707" error associated with text that is different
    b again
    from the two posts ...
because i'm not sure whether or not the different texts imply there's a different problem in the three cases, i'm
    b really
reluctant at this point to direct people to the fix.
would anybody knowledgeable mind commenting on the significance that the various associated texts have to these "0x80040707" errors? In particular, do you have to do a different fix for each different "associated text"?
    love, b

b case study of a fix for "Internal Failure, error number 0x80040707" variation:
Let me see if I can recall the exact order of what we did. First I went into "Run", msconfig. Then in the general tab, chose Selective startup. Then I clicked on the start up tab and deselected everything but I tunes. Then we went back to add/remove software and tried to delete the old I tunes.
I was not able to delete the I tunes (still got the same internal error 0x80040707). At that point we logged into my son's user account in windows and tried to remove i-tunes through control panel add/remove. It did delete! The problem was that my son had down loaded the first i tunes and each of our user accounts acts as administrator, so I tunes could only be deleted by the administrator that down loaded it. Once I was able to delete the old, we down loaded the new 4.9 without problem.
I had not realized the importance of the diffent users within windows xp. Now I know
for more context on this particular fix, see:
