Internal Mail Server IP Address

I recently starting working in a new office that runs their Exchange email server internally, so in my Outlook settings it just lists a local domain as my Server. I would like to be able to receive my emails from my phone but the IT department won't provide
me with a server domain that I can access outside of the office's network.
Is there a way that I can find out by myself the external domain? I've tried the obvious, mail.companyname.com, but no luck.
Thank you!

Hi,
As far as I know, we can get the server FQDN and more information through the option "about"
in OWA. Then you can ping your server FQDN to get the server public IP address.
To get the internal IP address, you can contact with your Admin.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,

  • SBS2003 monitoring/reporting without using internal mail server?

Client is running SBS2003 and for certain reasons, is not running internal exchange. All Exch services disabled and need to stay that way.
Question; is it possible to configure the server somehow (registry, etc) to point the email to an external SMTP server instead of the internal mail server? We need to get the performance reports but aren't allowed to enable exchange.
    Thanks!
    Charlie

As best I can recall, in the SBS 2003 era..the reports are acutally emailed using the SMTP service and not exchange.   No information has ever been provided from the MS Product team on how to make mods ot this.
But because of integration of SBS when you indicate the users to send to, it's looking at the FQDN and if its the one supplied during the CEICW wizard, then it's trying to send that to an exchange mailbox.   Have you tried running the wizard and
supply an outside pop3 address?  (not the hosted exchange)  Does the message arrive?

No, I'm really not sparring with you. I'm just removing the irrelevant factors from the conversation.
If you really have to know, their hardware is somewhat underpowered for the utilization it is receiving. The client is on hard times and cannot afford to upgrade the server hardware, nor can they afford a second server. Rebuilding their domain onto W2K3/W2K8
standard is also too expensive a project for them.
They have hosted external exchange and have for quite some time. They are happy with it and don't want to change. The server, after we took it over and tuned things for them, works fine. They experience almost no downtime and performance is adequate given
the current configuration. But adding any additional load to the server results in performance issues, including memory and disk space. Adding an additional 5% load on the server for exchange right now is not an option for us or them. They do not want nor
    need exchange running internally.
So it returns to the original question; is there any way to simply point the outbound email to a different SMTP server? Somewhere, the monitoring component says "send this information by email; connect to SMTP." If there's a way to modify that easily, we
will do so. If there is not, then we'll probably just shut off the SBS monitoring and use a 3rd party tool intstead. But pointing SMTP is possibly simpler than making those changes.
As a small-business consultant, we spend a lot of time trying to help small companies do things as cheaply as possible. For many companies, spending a few grand on a server or project is absolutely out of the question these days. So we do what we can. The
solution you are pushing can work fine for a larger company that has a healthy IT budget. But not in this case.

  • OT: Internal Mail Server

Anyone had dealings with internal mail-servers, specifically
    what value
are they to a small company of say 10 people?
Is it not just as easy to set up outlook/outlook express on
    those 10
workstations to recieve and send mail?
The question really is. What benefit are mailservers in a
    small office?
    Cheers,

Yeah it was becoming a big headache. I'd already tested email
    through
the conventional channels, outlook express and everything was
    running
smoothly. Then in comes this internal mail-server.
Anyway after several phone calls to tech support I finally
    got one that
actually knew something. The simple problem was a catchall
    email address
had never been intially set up on their severs, so nothing
    was being
    caught and sent on.
Damn silly mistakes take hours of my time to solve!

  • Send mail using Internal Mail server doesn't work

I can't send mail using my companies mail server, which requires authentication and port 587 to send.  We have a valid, non self-signed SSL certificate so that is not the issue.  I can send mail using Bell's mail server but that violates our regulatory compliance obligations.
The server using POP3 and one must login to get mail as well as send.  Unfortunately there is no otehr error message than the: error sending "mail subject".  No further details are provided and when we check the mail servers logs its clear the Pre isn't even attempting to connect to the mail server.  So the request to send mail isn't even being sent out.  That could be an issue with the Pre or with Bell but Bell support will only troubleshoot to the point of fidning out if you can send using their mail server.  We can so their support stops at that point.
I still have v1.3.1 of the WebOS as v1.3.5 doesn't seem to be out for the Bell Pre's yet.  But from what I've read v1.3.5 is even worse at handling mail not better.  However, there may be a solution out there to this beyond sending the Pre's back (I doubt we can) as Balckberry's and iPhone's don't have this issue.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Bell)

Further update on this problem.  It does send if I use TLS instead of SSL so that must mean that the Palm Pre doesn't use SSLv3 or higher.  As TLS is a viable security setting option to maintain compliance I can use that.  But still Plam should seriously consider upgrading tis SSL versioning.

  • How Can I Mask Internal Exchange Server IP Address In Headers Via Ironport

    All-
I have a customer that wants to know if there is a way that the Ironport can mask the internal IP address of their Exchange server in the message headers for outbound email?  Can Ironport handle this task?
    Thank you,
    John

I'm not sure if this was completely answered but using Tommy's CLI example I was able to figure out a way to do this throught the GUI.
    Go to outgoing Content filter.
    Click Add filter
Under Edit Content Filter leave conditions blank
    Under actions click add actions
select Strip Header in left pane
under Header Name section enter Received

  • Routing email for an internal Mail server\domain to the Internet in Exchange 2010.

    Hello;
We have an Exchange environment with multiple servers and multiple mail domains.  One of our overseas domains/servers is down at the moment because of a damaged cable somewhere in the Pacific...  We would like to be able to
route email bound for that domain (xyz.cn) from our domain (xyz.com) thru the internet as their server still receives external traffic.  How ever since we are one great big AD/Exchange Forest email automatically gets routed by AD connection.
Is there a way to send this email out thru the Internet?  We are being told that the "SHIP" will not be onsite for the repair for another week and then it will be 4-5 days for the repair.  any help is appreciated.

You could probably investigate Internal or External Relay Domains.
The basic idea is that you configure the accepted domain for xyz.cn in one organization as a relay domain. Then setup a send connector with the
xyz.cn domain as the name space, using smart hosts on the internet.
If the Exchange org receives mail for xyz.cn it will accept it, but can't deliver it as there is no recipient mailbox in the org. It will then forward mail across the smart host.
I'm not sure if this will work in your case or not, as it will depend on DNS configuration, etc (you don't want to forward mail to a smart host, only to have it deliver it straight back to you). It's something for you to think about though.
Another option is to use a network level solution, such as an internet based VPN. However, this is not really the forum for that.
Hope it works out for you

  • Cannot send mail - server rejects address

Anyone know why I get this message half the time when I attempt to send an email, and usually in a day or so the mail will go ahead and send?.. I know the address is a valid email address.

igmackenzie's method is reported by many to work.
However, deleting your mail account will also delete the emails in your Outbox that you are trying to send. This is a problem when you have several in your Outbox, many of which have been carefully crafted.
So before you do so, if you don't want to lose your hard work composing your unsent emails, be sure to copy & paste each one into another application, i.e. Notes.

  • Mail Server "Type" and Mail Server "Address" for Incoming & Outgoing Mail

First, the only browser I use is Mozilla's Firefox, the best browser hands down. Second, I have both a Yahoo email account and a Google "gmail" account that I use regularly (daily). I am trying to set up a mail washing program to rid myself of these ridiculous spammers & scammers, however I need to the the Incoming & Outgoing mail server "type" & "address" to do this and I seem to have guessed the yahoo settings, but I can't seem to get the Google gmail account set up properly. Yahoo settings that worked are: Server Type="POP3" and Server Address="pop.mail.yahoo.com", with advanced settings: Secure Authentication=Required, Secure Connection (SSL)=Required, Store Cached Emails=Yes, Server Port Number=995 (set), Pipelining=Enabled. The equivalent settings for the Google gmail account result in an error message = "Failed to log into POP3 Server". Of course user name & password triple checked, Type=POP3, Address=pop.mail.gmail.com, and , Address="pop.gmail.com" tried also, Port and other settings the same. Where can I find this info for both accounts? Tanks a million! -jw

Yahoo and Gmail support should be able to help you.
Not related to Firefox support, web mail doesn't use POP or SMTP protocols which is what email clients such as Thunderbird use for communicating with email servers.

  • SMTP Mail Server Address

    Hi All!
Can we find the IP address of the SMTP mail server and its outgoing mail port number through java? If Yes, how?
    regards,
    Rajat Aggarwal

    Hi!
Actually, I am using Java Mail API to send a mail.
However, i do not know the SMTP mail server's address
through which i should be routing my mail. I need
some way to find the IP Address and the port number
for this.In other words you're looking for random open relays to use to send spam through.
Why should we help you do something that's illegal almost everywhere and very poor ethics even where not?
If you've legitimate access to a mailserver you'll have been given the connection details.

  • Mail server setup for LAN use only

    Hello,
I want to use smtp-notify for alert mails.
But I want to send these mails to LAN only - no internet connection is available.
How do I set up a mail server on SOL11E (pop or imap)?
The mails in /var/mail are just a simple file so I can't use them (like svccfg setnotify problem-diagnosed mailto:root@localhost )
I want to have a system where I look into my Inbox of my locally connected client. So I will be automatically aware if something happened to the Sol11E system without looking into the log files or /var/mail manually.
    Thanks

Do you need this mail server just for the zfs scrub reports or for all e-mail? How are clients currently getting e-mail? If you already have a mail server inside the company, or if you already have hosted mail server for company e-mail, that should be sufficient.
If you do have an internal mail server, you should be able to set the DS parameter in sendmail.cf to specify the mail server. If you don't have an internal mail server, and you are all using external e-mail accounts, that should still work. By default, sendmail (if running) should be able to send e-mail outside the LAN. Sendmail uses DNS to locate the mail server for the recipient.
You can verify that dns is working on the client with nslookup or dig

I don't know if Solaris 11 Express has a companion CD. Solaris 10 does- and you can MAYBE install packages from it. On OpenSolaris there is the /usr/bin/updatemanager and /usr/bin/packagemanager commands. I suspect Solaris 11 Express also has the same. On OpenSolaris you could download packages from the OpenSolaris internet repository. It MAY include the IMAP server. (it does not for the OpenSolaris server I have.)
Alternately, you could look for it on sunfreeware.com ( the Solaris 10 packages might work) or compile it from source.

  • Setting mail server to check other (remote) POP accounts

Can someone tell me what technique is used to configure Mac OS X (Tiger) Server to retrieve mail from other POP servers? I am wanting to use an internal mail server at my organisation for main mail handling (most large emails are between people within the building) and have it automatically retrieve emails from various ISP mail servers.
This way, users appear to have a very fast connection to the mail server, and if it ever goes down they can still connect to the ISP's server and still be able to retrieve new messages.
Also useful for collecting a desparate collection of email accounts into one, and have the mail filters act on it.
I've come across etrn & uucp, but they don't sound like this is what they were designed for.
    thanks,
    Ray.

Thanks Jeff. Just the one word was required to send me off in the right direction. I had encountered sendmail, but couldn't recall it to get a man page on it.
One other question (couldn't find mention of it in discussions): I have played with it and got it working for my account by running it manually (and as a daemon under my user).
But the question is how do I get it to launch at startup? Do I put a .plist in the /Library/LaunchDaemons? And if started this way, will it automatically notice all the ~/.fetchmailrc files and process everyone's mail?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Email send issue using "Mail Server Load balancer"  (Cisco ACE 20)

Please let me know if someone have experienced this kind of issue or any suggestions.
The send email action was working file in MII with smtp mail server on port 25. Recently basis did a change in mail server ip address and they installed a new Load Balancer . The Load balancer is between SMTP and MII. After this change MII does not send email (unknown source error). now MII send email action has ip address or qualified path of Load balancer in MII send email configuration instead of direct ip address of SMTP server. Below is the error message in Net Weaver logs.
MII still sends email if direct ip address of email server  provided but not through email Load balancer .
    Any suggestions ?
