Internal mic noise in MacOS but not in Bootcamp?

When I try to record an audio file with quick time in MacOS i get a lot of noise. In Windows 7 (Bootcamp), I don't get any nosie at all. Could this be a driver issue or does the Windows audiorecorder simply have better noise cancellation capabilities?

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact comp and render settings or for that matter even what version of AE. Also footage details, effects used and their settings, anything else...

USB or not doesn't matter. People usually have trouble getting the mic working because they use USB cards which are not the default of their systems, so you can try the said fixes, it should work.
For skype, did you check the Skype settings for where it inputs/outputs? Skype might be trying to use PulseAudio even if you don't have it...
You can try setting the default device in your asoundrc:
pcm.!default {
type hw
card 0
ctl.!default {
type hw
card 0
Replace "card 0" with the correct card, like "card 2,1" or "card 1".

Noise on speaker but not on headphone

Lately my 4 months old 1.83 MHz Mini has some noise coming from the speaker, the level remains the same with Volume off or at highest setting. There is no noise at all when listening to the headphone-out. I did a complete reinstall of OS X, but that did not help. How can this be fixed? Right now I have to plug a jack into the headphone-out to turn the speaker off.

If you have any external devices such as a disk drive on and connected try listening with it disconnected and powered off. Often noise is injected by external components and can be affected by how the cable is routed.

Mic works with SoundRecorder, but Not Skype

I've used Skype for years. Today, I can't get the microphone to work with Skype 7.4.0.102.
I can record using my headset mic with MS's SoundRecorder, but no sound seems to be detected with Skype. I tried restarting, but that didn't help.

I made sure I had the latest Realtek HD Audio driver from my computer maker. I used the Realtek HD Audio interface to set the mic gain to +20 db and turned off audio effects. I also adjusted Skype’s audio settings, but Skype 7.5 still required me to SHOUT to be heard. (I’ve used Skype for 7+ years, so I’m used to making sure my mic is setup correctly before making a call.)
Thanks to a private Skype Community message from Capreolus, I was able to download the full-version of Skype v6 point 21.
I can now use Skype with a normal speaking voice. (Hurray!)
Of course, I’ve had to disable automatic Skype updates and say “No” to updates for the near future.
It’s too bad the tech people at Skype don’t seem to be able to duplicate the problem. My computer’s only 2 years old, so recent software it should work fine.

Airport works on MacOS but not on WindowsXP with Boot Camp

Hi,
I just bought my first mac, a MacBook and I love the way everything works - a great computer. Tho I like OS X, I still need to use XP time to time so, I got boot camp naturally and installed XP on it. Everything went smoothly.
I have a wireless network with Belkin ADSL/Router. In OS X, I have no problem connecting to it. I use WEP on it. But when I try to connect to it in XP, it just wouldn't even establish a connection. In fact, it seems to somehow screw up the wireless router in the process that when I go back to OS X and try to connect to it, it won't either until I reset my router. In my limited understanding, I suspect the driver on XP not working very well.
Can you help? When I look at XP device manager I do find some strange USB device that isn't working properly but Airport is reported as working fine.

Yes i Seem to be experiencing a similar problem as you, in which connecting to a router on OS X is easy but as soon as i try it on windows xp it cannot establish a connection but my router is already connectingto other windows pcs. Maybe this is because windows cannot recognizethe built in airport, or perhaps it needs to be configured in a way to work with both Xp and os X

I have bought the 2330 three days ago
Its the second phone because the first one had a screen problem.
With this one the problem is that when i call someone i hear a noise from the earphone especially when iam at home or indoor places. Also the person that i call listens to the same or simillar noise.
The bizarre is that when i connect the hands free equipment everything is just perfect.
Anyone has an answer on that or has someone the same problem with me ??

By the way, does your nokia 2330 have the correct time to the minute? My 2330 is slow by a 1 minute 37 seconds after the time is auto updated.

Internal links work in FF but not IE

After two days of trying everything and searching all forums I have got nowhere so here goes. Site has worked fine but when I created a new page (via save as and from a DWT file) any links on the home page to the new page do not work in IE9 but they are fine in FF. If i change the link to a page created befor the problem then it works fine so the issue is not the location of the link.
the site is profitmanagement.co.uk but the version up is from before the problem - no point putting up a site that doesnt work!. I've reinstalled IE and have Norton antivirus so I doubt if the issue is malware.

I'm very surprised they work in any browser. If you use Save As with a DWT file, your links will always be wrong. To create a file from a DWT file, you should use File > New > Page from Template. As long as your DWT files are in the original Templates folder in the site root, the links should be correctly formed.

Copy / Duplicate a CD works for the MacOS but not for Windows

i burnt some jpg's on a CD with my Mac (drag & drop within
the Finder). This went fine: i can read the CD on my Mac
and on my Windows-PC.
As i need y couple of copies from this CD, i thougth that
the "drag & drop" thing within the Finder is to much effort
and i created an image of the CD with the DiskUtility.
After that i burnt the image on new, empty CDs. All of them
worked fine on my Mac, but non of them were readable on
any Windows-PC.
So i started a workaround with the "burning-folder". That
works, but it is a little bit uncomfartable in comparison
to working with images.
Sadly i found no way to create an burn an image which works
on Windows-PCs.
Is there no way to copy / duplicate CD, that are readable
on Windows-PCs?

Hm, i testet something and i do not know, why two different things come out:
1) i began to create an image from the CD, which i created at first, which works
on my Mac and on my Windows-System.
So i could choose the following formats: read-only, compressed, read/write, DVD-/CD-Master.
2) if i create an image from an existing folder from my harddisk, i have the same options
PLUS "hybrid-image". If i choose this format and burn it, the CD works on my Windows-System, too.
So the question is, why the hybrid-image only available for images which are created
from hardisk-folders and not from an CD?!

What is the simplest way to automatically move all photos from iPhone to MacOS but not from MacOS to iPhone?

They won't.
Make sure you are signed into iCloud with Photo Stream enabled on both OS X & iOS.
OS X: System Preferences > iCloud > check Photos > Options > check My Photo Stream (Shared too if you choose) > OK
iOS: Settings > iCloud > Photos > My Photo Stream - on (Shared too if you choose)
In iPhoto > Preferences > iCloud > check My Photo Stream (and Photo Sharing if you choose) then check Automatic Import. Leave Automatic Upload unchecked.

AirParrot works fine with 10.8, but not with Bootcamp Win7

I know that this is not a problem directly linked to Apple, but maybe someone uses a similar setup.
Since i have a Mid2010 iMac, i can't use the built-in AirPlay mirroring of ML and have to rely on a 3rd party product.
I my case i'm using AirParrot (1.4.3), which works fine if used in ML. Great picture in 1080p and flawless sound on my Samsung TV.
But the windows version of AirParrot (1.0.4) won't detect my ATV3, regardless of which configuration i'm trying. I'm using the identical network setup with ML and Win7 and i'm running out of options for a reason why it isn't detected. For playback i'm using VLC player on both OS.
Any ideas?

I made all my media compatible to ATV and transferred it into iTunes. Now i can play everything directly from ATV via network. Wasn't that much of an effort via batch converting for video content. My music has already been in iTunes.

Unibody MBP - black squares glitches in OSX but not in bootcamp.

I have a strange graphics problem with my unibody and just wonder if its worth sending in for a repair or if it might be a known software issue:
Usually when web browsing, the mouse pointer will suddenly become unresponsive for a moment.
It will then just react strangely to my mouse movements - like it is over sensitive.
After this i will then see visual artifacts on the screen.
These appear as black square shapes around various windows.
I then regain full control over my mac but the black squares remain.
If i move an open window over one of the black artifacts it clears.
Occasionally it never recovers and i have to do a hard restart of the machine.
I also found that while attempting to play 'runescape' - a java based 3D game running in a web browser (firefox in this instance) that i would get a severe version of the issue stated above ending with my screen flickering - again forcing a hard restart.
Here is my conundrum though - this ONLY happens in OSX
I run windows7 64bit under bootcamp for gaming and can game for hours at a time with not one single crash or glitch which leads me to question wether this is a hardware issue at all.
I have done a FULL clean install of snow leopard which included trashing my user folder and creating one from fresh. (i only retained my documents).
Any advice / familiar stories would be greatly appreciated.

At home I've used both a NetGear and Belkin router (both N band), at work we have various networks using Cisco kit.
The encryption types vary depending on which network I'm connecting to.
The WiFi drops on all of them when in OSX but runs flawlessly on all of them when in Windows 7.
I'm currently sat here at home in the living room connected to a Netgear WNR2000 which is in the room directly above me.
Signal strength is full and the encryption is WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK.
It had been connected for around an hour without disconnecting but then in the last 20 minutes it's disconnected twice; both times refusing to reconnect automatically forcing me to turn the airport off and then back on.
The fact that the same hardware works fine in windows 7 would suggest that this has to be a software issue inside OSX.

IMac hard drive extremely slow (but not on BootCamp)

My iMac 20" from late 2006 has suddenly become extremely slow, meaning it read/writes from/to the harddisk at a very slow rate, down to 1 MBps according to Disk Speed Bench X. It's impossible to use the computer now and I haven't done anything special lately to make this happen, except downloading a lot of files lately that took a lot of space (down to 3 GB left on my 250 GB drive), until I deleted them again.
Interestingly, my BootCamp partition with XP Professional is working perfectly.
What is the solution? A new drive? I'm trying to restore it from Time Machine now, but it's taking forever... Oh, and I have used Onyx and repaired all rights, and Disk Tools reports that everything is in perfect order.

Ack - sorry. Doing two things at once and I missed that. Still, having gotten down to 2GB and now at 20GB, you may well have developed some fragmentation issues. First, run Disk Utility and make sure there's nothing that needs to be repaired. This might explain the slow down. If it passes, or if you successfully repair the drive, and the disk is still slow, consider defragging the drive. Ordinarily the Mac OS doesn't need it but when your drive becomes very full the Mac's built in defragging methodology doesn't work so well.

Slow internet connection under OS X, but not under Bootcamp (XP)

I'm using airport internet connection, and I have no idea why the internet is so much slower under OS X than it is under Windows. I tried using 'many' different browsers on both operating systems, and the result is the same. Leopard is clearly having trouble handling the bandwidth, and it's been like this as far as I can remember. All my software is up to date.
If anyone could help me understand this problem better, that would be appreciated.

From your post - I presume that you are using Windows on your MacBook? Or is it a separate computer? (If it is your MacBook, that eliminates hardware as a factor).
Have you attempted to measure the speed difference? There are numerous speed tests available on the net. To some extent the numbers generated are a bit random (other factors can influence speed on a particular connection), but it would be useful if the tests were done in close succession on the same machine.
What kind of wireless router are you using? Sometimes there can be incompatibilities between the router and OS X. Check for firmware updates and the like.
Is there anything else running on OS X which could be accessing the internet at the same time as your browser? As an example, the MobileMe Backup can certainly hog the bandwidth.
After considering these things, there might be some further troubleshooting steps to look at.

Reads Windows 7 Disk in Mac but not in Bootcamp?

Hi,
So I have my Windows 7 Disk detected on my Mac so then I opened BootCamp Assistant and then selected the Start Windows Installer, Then Start Installation. It restarts my Mac then it boots from the CD then My Screen goes black and stays black.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Also, I had problems reading Windows Disk Before. And sometimes when I pout My Windows Disk in, It detects it as a Blank CD

You created a large enough (32GB or larger ideally) and using 32-bit version, the ISO you burned at half or reduced burn speed?

HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC - Can't get internal mic to shut off or sync with webcam

I'm not really sure what happened. I was trying out my headset with inline mic on my PC and it didn't work the only thing that worked was my internal mic. I did disable my internal mic at one point but turned it back on when I realized that didn't make it work either so I promptly turned my internal mic back on. However, now I am left with hearing myself type and the outside noises even hearing instantly the curses I use at my computer. I can turn the volume down and not hear anything, but when I try and record a video I can't hear myself at all; the mic isn't recordng me and the webcam video is laggy. (the listen back button is unchecked) but when I check the listen back button I can hear me type and I can hear myself on the recorded video.
Basically, I just want my computer to work how it did before I tried to get my headset mic to work.
