Internal MIDI-routing?

Hey there... *is it possible to route the MIDI-output of Logic internally to another program*, or do i have to use the cord (midi out->in) i'm using now?
Environment? Or is there some other software out there? Something like Soundflower for MIDI?
I wanna do this so i can improve my live-setup.
Basically Logic controls OnStage for session change (songs) and also controls Mainstage x2 on 2 other macbooks.
Is it possible?

Oh my Geil-ness you really solved that quickly. I had almost given up hope.
Funny sometimes one misses what should be not too "un"-obvious.
Works like a charm already.
Seemless song & sound switching between Mainstage, OnStage and Logic, just the way i want it.
I had to turn the IAC on though, so I guess it's off by default.
You just saved me and my friends a lot of cable hassle.
Thanks a million!

  • Internal CS Midi Routing

Okay, the way I setup my concerts is that I have 5 MIDI Activity Monitors each set to receive on a different midi channel (1-5). Then I route different CSs to different Activity Monitor objects within a patch. The only nausance is that I'd like for all midi messages to revert back to being on channel 1 after it get's received by the Activity Monitor object. So that even if I have a CS routed to "Activity Monitor 2", the midi signal it gets will be Channel 1, not channel 2.
I only ask because there *IS* a way of doing this manually for each channel strip: by setting the input to "Multitimbral", selecting the correct activity monitor, and changing the channel routing to "1". So it is possible, but only at the CS level. What I'm hoping is that there's a way to more universally do this, so all activity monitors re-route their received messages to channel 1. There is no settings on either Activity Monitor or Keyboard Input objects to reroute midi, so I'm guessing not... but it doesn't hurt to ask.

  • Midi Routing

I have two keyboards, one wired to Logic via midi cables (Port 1, Channel 1) the second board is a Virus Ti. I am not using Virus Control. I'm using the Virus Ti Synth driver and channel 2.
My question is, if I make a new Instrument track and apply a Soft Synth to it, is there a way to play it layered with either board and still have the remaining board sound on it's own channel. In other words, "Multi Recording with one of the boards layered to the SS?"
Demix is selected. I thought by selecting the same midi channel for the SS as one of the keyboards would work.. Nope! Is there a way to route this in the Environment? I'm a newbie to Logic and it's routing. Thanks.

Remember the MIDI channels of the instrument object determine how the events are distributed. I can't say for sure (because I'm not in front of Logic right now) whether in multiplayer record mode, if you have more than one object set to a particular MIDI channel whether the events get correctly sent to both, But I would have though they were.
So if your keyboard 1 is in channel 1, and your second keyboard is channel 2, in multiplayer mode (demix on), both you instrument and soft synth object channels should be 1 (so they are both played from keyboard one) with the third part on channel 2.
Is this what you are doing but it's not working?

  • Axiom 25 percussion pads -- MIDI routing to different channel strips?

Hi all, and sorry for the noobie question! This is a very helpful forum.
I found a thread back in November that asked a similar question, but the thread is archived and I couldn't reply.
I've got an Axiom 25 MIDI controller going into Mainstage 2 via USB. This keyboard has eight percussion pads. I've got those pads transmitting on MIDI channel 10, and the keyboard transmitting on channel 1 (verified by the midi monitor at the top of the Mainstage edit screen).
I would like to get percussion sounds from the pads and keyboard sounds from the keys. I've set things up in Layout so that there are separate keyboard and percussion pads, and I've gone through the "learn" process and specified channel 10 for the percussion pads, etc. None of this seems to matter as far as what sound is produced, at least not yet.
The question I have is whether using my single MIDI controller, I am limited to using one playback instrument at a time and using multitimbral input to it, or if there is an easy way to "route" to multiple channel strips containing distinct instruments based on the midi transmission channel from the Axiom (i.e. channel 10 for the percussion pads, 1 for the keys).
I did RTFM without luck. I hope I've expressed the question using clear & proper terms -- I'm new to this so please be patient with me, and thanks in advance for your reply.
    -Rob

It seems to me like this should be easily accomplished. My suggestion is to use the MIDI Activity Indicator (looks like a little round light), since you're on MS2. Here are the steps that I'd follow, although I don't have my rig in front of me so it's all by memory:
    - In Layout mode, create two MIDI Activity Indicators: one that is assigned to Channel 1, and one that is assigned to Channel 10. I would name them "Channel 1" and "Channel 10" so that they're easily identifiable in Edit mode.
    - In Edit mode, create a patch with two channel strips: one for your drum sounds and one for your keyboard sound.
    - Assign the Channel 1 indicator to your keyboard sound channel strip, and assign the Channel 10 indicator to your drum sound channel strip.
    Give that a try!

  • Creative midi routing

I'm trying to run logic express and some NI instruments (kontakt2) outside of logic (since they're not universal yet). Any ideas on how I could route the midi? Basically I want to use logic as my sequencer and route the midi from my keyboard via midisport 2x2 into logic and then from logic into Kontakt2 (running outside of logic). I've gotten the midi to go to logic and kontakt but I can't get the playback to work. Thanks.

Justin thanks for the reply! I have actually tried the IAC bus and I can't get it to work for some reason. Do I need to set anything up in logics enviornment? What I've done so far is just enable it in "audio/midi" setup and then select it as the port for instrument in logic and then set the input in kontakt as the IAC bus and the same channel. I don't get anything. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Problem with external MIDI routing has to be MainStage 2 bug

I posted a bug the other day where I was getting occasional bogus MIDI note events in one external synth while playing a keyboard that was (supposed to be only) sending MIDI data to a different external synth.
I have now performed two experiments that would seem to indicate that the problem must be caused by MainStage 2 and not by CoreMIDI or by MOTU drivers/external MIDI interfaces.
    Experiment 1:
I created a new Digital Performer sequence, enabled multi-input mode and routed one keyboard controller to one external synth and another keyboard controller to another external synth, essentially reproducing the MainStage 2 patch. Played both keyboards together for some time with no problems whatsoever. (In MainStage 2, I'd get a glitch pretty quickly)
Experiment 2: (to eliminate the possibility that Digital Performer (a MOTU product itself) wasn't doing something special)
I used Max/MSP and created two midiin/midiout connections, one representing the first keyboard controller and external synth, the second representing the second keyboard controller and external synth respectively (duh). Again, I played both keyboards for a while and everything worked perfectly, no glitches.
I have reported this to Apple several times via their feedback but have heard NOTHING back from them.
    Original bug posting
    (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2137282&tstart=0)

If I understand you correctly, I think I experienced a similar problem. However, in my case, I don't have two separate midi input devices, but rather one; and two separate external devices I am wanting to control with midi.
Brief background: I use an EWI to play various softsynths & now external synths via MS2. I also route the audio from my EWI into MS2 for additional processing and I use an external effects processor (Eventide Eclipse) for additional processing and sound manipulation. I send program changes with my EWI to change patches using MS2. My EWI transmits only on midi channel 1, which MS2 is set to receive on. Also, my Eclipse is set to receive midi data on channel 5 (a method I used to keep things separate in my all hardware rig when MOTU MTP AV was my switching device).
Initially, I thought I could just have my EWI send a program change message on channel 1, and then MS2 would send a program change message to the Eclipse on channel 5, all from the same MS2 keyboard object. It worked, but with one small glitch ... after the program change happened, and I started playing my EWI, the Eclipse began receiving my midi note information which in turn caused the Eclipse to be confused and start trying to change patches, etc. I checked the keyboard object which was not supposed to transmit on channel 1 to anything external, but I could not figure out how to set it up. Note: none of my devices are set to OMNI because I learned a long time ago, that I want to control routing and specific channels ensure their separation ... or supposed to anyway.
What I ended up doing was to create another midi object (this time the little spherical thing, not the keyboard), and assigned it to transmit on midi channel 5 and not receive on any channel. This turned out to be the solution / work around for this situation.
Another problem I am having with midi control when using MS2 as a go-between, is an issue with pitch bend information getting messed up as its sent to my external synth (Yamaha VL70m). For some reason, playing the VL70m by way of MS2, causes my EWI pitch-bend data to force the VL70m pitch-bend in the permanent down position making all notes flat. My solution in this case was to set up a direct link with MidiPipe, from my EWI to my VL70m and filter out any program changes so that I can use the MS2 to send a patch change to it, but use my EWI to play it directly. It seems to work well, and my pitch-bend is back to normal, but I am not certain (and don't know how to test) if the VL70m is now getting duplicate note on/off information with the potential of a minuscule delay from MS2 being in the path as opposed to playing direct from my EWI. It seems unnoticeable to my ears, but it's in the back of my mind.
Anyway, these are some of my midi episodes and I think it's pretty clear that Apple needs to quickly address some issues about midi handling and MS2.
Hope this helps ... and maybe we can come up with some more creative ways to deal with these "undocumented features" (to borrow a saying from the Windows world).

  • Adding additional internal IP route

I have an internal router to connect to a different network. I want to be able to connect to devices in that network. I've selected Advanced->Routing and added a new route. I can now ping the addresses on that network, but can make no connections to them. Adding static routes to my PC allows the connections, but I'd rather the router handle the connections. Does anyone know of a way to allow those connections.

So you're able to ping from a host on VLAN1 to the vlan2?
Also are you using these instructions?

  • How to configure users for internal mail routing only in exchange 2013

    Hi Guys!
I have a scenario here that i have three (3) group of users, one group is able to have an inbound and outbound mail, meaning they can send and recieved emails from internal and external. The second group of users should have inbound mail(local mail) only
(cannot send and recieved mails from internet), and the third (3) user is they can recieved an outbound mail but they are not allowed to send mail directly to the client,(Ex.
[email protected],[email protected],[email protected]) instead they will use the
[email protected] as the reply to the client. Please let me know how to configure group user 2 and 3.
    Thank you.
    regards,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Great advice from Maganti, just elaborating steps:
Prevent Group 2 send e-mail to internet by transport rule:
    1. Login EAC with administrator, Mail Flow---> Rule, click “Create a new rule, then give a name “Group2 - No Internet Mail”.
    2. Conditions: select "From a member of a distribution list" & select group "Group2"
    3. Select another condition "Sent to users inside or outside the organization" & Select Outside.
    4. Actions: select "send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code" & write your custom message like “You are not authorized to send mails to internet”.
Prevent Group 3 directly send e-mail to internet, however it can send message as group:
We also can create a transport rule which is same with Group2, then open Active Directory Users and Computers to add send as permission with another group (contain same users as group3).

  • Internal Mail Routing Between HUB servers Is Not Working Correctly

Howdy, Been scratching my head on this one for a while.
First off, running Exchange 2010 Sp3 RU5 across the board.
I have attached a diagram of our environment for visual aid. Please take a look as it makes more sense.
I have drawn the correct mail flow in black and what is happening in red.
Forest A Site A, has a dedicated edge, dedicated Hub and dedicated CAS
    Forest A Site A child domain 1, has a multi-roled MBX,HUB,CAS
    Forest A Site B child domain 2, has a multi-roled MBX,HUB,CAS
    Forest B Site C, has a multi-roled MBX,HUB,CAS
Mail flows TO child domain 2 just fine, but outgoing mail from that same domain keeps routing through HUB in child domain 1 instead of HUB in forest root domain.
The send connector for the organization in Forest A is configured to only send through the dedicated HUB server in Forest A. The Receive connector in Forest A's HUB is also configured correctly. But no matter what i do, mail outgoing from child domain
2 continues to flow to child domain 1 instead of through the dedicated HUB server.
Mail needs to flow so for now i added the HUB in child domain 1 as a source server in the organization's send connector and set up the receive connector in child domain 1 to allow a work around for now.
I think this is an issue in the routing group connector but its just a guess. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Active Directory IP site links costs are based on relative network speed compared to all network connections in the WAN and are designed to produce a reliable and efficient replication topology. Therefore, in most cases, the existing IP site link costs should
work well for Exchange 2010 message routing. However, if after documenting the existing Active Directory site and IP site link topology, you verify that the Active Directory IP site link costs and traffic flow patterns aren't optimal for Exchange 2010, you
can make adjustments to the costs evaluated by Exchange.
You can use the Set-AdSiteLink cmdlet to assign an Exchange-specific cost to an Active Directory IP site link.
More details refer to the following articles:
    Controlling IP Site Link Costs

    Hope this helps!

    LRMCP

    Hi LRMCP,
Procedure is perfect which is given by Benoit, just elaborating steps.
    Prevent form Sending Mails:
Create a transport rule on Hub Transport Server:
Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Transport Rules -> New Transport Rule -> Give Name “Group2 - No Internet Mail”
Conditions: select "From a member of a distribution list" & select group "Group2"
Select another condition "Sent to users inside or outside the organization" & Select Outside.
Actions: select "send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code" & write your custom message like “You are not authorized to send mails to internet”
    Prevent from Receiving Mails:
New User: You can select “require that senders are authenticated” while creating new users which will stop receiving mails from internet.
User -> properties -> Mail Flow Settings -> Message Delivery Restrictions -> Properties -> set Sender Authentication.
    For Existing Users:
You have already a group named "Group2" so set sender authentication for all members with this single command.
    Get-DistributionGroup "Group2" | Set-Mailbox -RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled $true
Same procedure mentioned for group2 can be followed for Group3 to prevent from sending mails.

  • Does Audition 3 do MIDI routing, merging, etc.?

I have one MIDI in and one MIDI out on my audio card and four MIDI ins and four MIDI outs on a USB interface. I would like to be able to use some of these ports to connect synths and controllers together in various ways, rather than having them all go to the DAW software. What I'm looking for is something like Bome's MIDI Translator Pro. Can Audition do all that? Thanks in advance!
By the way, this forum has possibly the worst forum navigation I've ever used. Just sayin'.

Having looked at the web page for MIDI Translator Pro, the answer is No.  The MIDI implementation within AA3 is pretty basic, to say the least.  I'm not sure whether ANY fully-specced MIDI sequencer could actually do all that the Bome software can do, though I do stand to be corrected by those who have more detailed knowledge of those sequencers.
I think many would agree with you about the forum navigation!

  • Internal audio routing

Hi, I'm using a 2.5 intel core i5 iMac running 10.8.4. I use Traktor pro 2 and want to route the record output of traktor into logic. Im trying to use Jack but cannot get the audio into Logic. Can anyone help? Thanks

You can try Soundflower it is a kernal extension that allows routing audio from one app to another.
Its a bit dated and some here will tell you it will cause system problems but I've had it installed since 10.6 (I'm on 10.8.4) and have never had a problem.

  • Help with internal signal routing on a 6602

I need to do the following with a 6602:
    GPIO (any) to RTSI0
4 Counter Outputs to RTSI1-4; doesn't matter which.
I have tried P0.0->RTSI0 and then CTR0-3 to RTSI4.  But I get an error that the resources required for the last connection (CRT3_OUT -> RTSI4) are being used by the P0.0->RTSI0 route.
What are the rules?  Acording to the routing chart, they are all possible, but I don't know how to keep them from bumping into one another.

    Hi:
How is it that you are doing the routing? DAQmx eport signals? DAQmx connect terminals?
Can you give us a little bit more background on what you are doing?

  • Configure Exchange 2010 internal mail routing

    Hello,
I’m have an Exchange server system which includes exchange 2003 standard edition server and an Exchange 2010 server standard edition server, plus a public SMTP server. Each exchange edition is on a separate machine. The SMTP server is on a separate machine.
I am in the process of retiring the Exchange 2003 server per the following document:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931
Inbound mail arrives at the SMTP server and is forwarded from there to the Exchange 2010 server. All user mailboxes have been moved to the Exchange 2010 server. There is a connector between the Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 servers. Both the Exchange 2003
and Exchange 2010 server have a connector to the public SMTP server.
In reviewing some of the log files, it appears that a lot of mail which originates from a user mailbox on the Exchange 2010 server is being sent from the 2010 server to the 2003 server and from there to the public SMTP server. I don’t know how to change
this priority so that no mail will be sent to the Exchange 2003 server. At this point there is no reason for any mail to travel to or from the Exchange 2003 server. Any suggestions on how to change this configuration so that mail goes directly from the Exchange
2010 server to the SMTP server?
Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully provide a response!

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following thing:
If you have finished the migration successfully, and the Exchange server 2003 is unnecessary. You can remove the connector between Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and the connector between Exchange 2003 to public SMTP server. And then the mail should go directly
from Exchange 2010 to the SMTP server.
Hope my clarification can be helpful.

  • Harmonize lead vocal Routing Midi with Antares Harmony Engine Evo

After a long day researching and NOT getting the job done... I need correct midi routing instructions to get Antares Harmony Engine Evo to play 2 different midi harmony tracks: i.e., one on track 7 and one on track 8 wince I couldn't get any of the 'great' harmony presets to work at all. I need explicit instructions on what to click on and where it is without leaving out assumed steps. Thanks!

Adding this: PLEASE and THANK YOU... anybody who knows anything. I've read manuals, searched the net, etc., instructions are not clear or non-existent with many posts saying 'I can't get this function to work!' to no avail so far. I've round no video tutorials. One post suggested 'side chain' as in the Antares Pitch Correct but there is NO side chain menu on my Harmony Engine, and FYI, it disappeared on my APC, from time to time. What's going on here? I'd like to have these harmonies on for Christmas gift. I tried transposing the lead vocal track and ! 'no transpose function' would show up in the usual place. Now I'm trying the midi routing since the harmony engine's default patches didn't work. I've set every knob and button including voice register, i.e. 'soprano' in this case, etc. following the small manual. There's got to be a way as this program has won many awards, so someone is getting it to work. Please RSVP... Thank you and happy holidays!
