Internal Order vs Work order

Hi Gurus,
What are the differences between an internal order and a work order? How can a work order differ to an internal order?
I already understand that work orders do not have a hierarchy, groups, commitments, plans or budgets.

Hi,
Please find below the some differences:
Maintenance order-
1.You can create the with reference to Equipment/Functional Location.
2.You can assign the Work center
3.You can assign the permit
Internal Order:
1.You can maintain the Budgets
2.You will have Commitments
3.We will have hierarchy, groups
The main difference is the Maintenance order is to capture and monitor the maintenance related activities and the Internal Order is mainly for costing purpose like assigning Budget, Settlement...etc.

    In SAP there is no term called work order. But loosely the term is sometimes used for maintenance or service order. Probably even production orders also.

    I am trying to create a Func Module as following.
    Input : Purchase Order Number, Material Number and Item Number. (Either Item Number or Material Number shall be entered. Output a message if both are blank).
    Out put : PO Number, Line item Number, Status of the PO, Material Number / Equipment Number, Work Order Number, Work Center and Cost Center, Person responsible from Work Center.
    Is there any link between EKKO, EKPO and AUFK, AFPO?
    Can you please help me. or suggest if there is any other way I can do this.

  • Problem while Creating Service order through Work Order

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a problem While creating Service order (me21n) through - Work order it contains service requisitions.
    So that means they carry information such as G/L and work order number while entering the requistion no in PO Creation Screen (me21n)  which automatically should be picked from the work order refference.
    But problem here is the service items and all other are assigned to PO except the Account Assingnment tab which is GL Account and Work Order No and Cost center..
    Can anyone explain me this?
    Is this something that one can explain?

    You could temporarly adjust the CUNI definition for TST so that it can be converted to seconds. Adjust the notifications to set a valid unit of measure.
    The alternative would be to update the field MAUEH in table QMIH with a valid breakdown unit of measure.

  • Issue with Cost center in PO and Work Order

    Dear Expert,
    I am facing an issue with respect to cost center in Purchase Order and Work Order. The PO is made against a work order. There are two cost center associated with the work order. One is updated under u201CAdditional datau201D field and other is at u201Clocationu201D . So the cost center in PO should essentially be the same one mentioned under u2018locationu2019 field of work order. So the issue here is that while creating PO, the cost center is picked from the u201Cadditional datau201D field of work order not from u2018locationu2019 field of WO.
    Is there any exit available that needs to be implemented for overriding the cost center in PO or any other way of solving this problem?

    I guess that there is already some user exit or enhancement in place, since this doesn't sound like standard SAP (picking the cost data from additional data, or even having it there).

  • RRB on a Work order

    Hi,
    I have a client who is using Work Orders to manage their program of works. They are currently manually extracting the cost info, and creating a manual invoice, but would like to do this in the system.
    The question I have is how do they bill via work orders, without having to create service orders. We are still at the requirements/blueprinting stage, so I am not really able to dummy things up, and play around in their system, so I am just looking at  the theory behind it, and making them comfortable that is is able to be done.
    They have a high number of orders, and I can not see it working 1-to-1 sales order to work order.
    So, how is this going to work?

    The Work orders can be captured in SAP as Contracts (Service Contracts) VA41. in this service contracts we can captured all the program of work done by each individual as Service ( Material Ids with Number of hours work done) .and will maintain same in Condition records( VK11) which will reflect price in Service contracts. Once this done we can create DP91 or DP90u2014which will capture the actual hours based on resource utilization.
    This process will have integration with PS (Project system) module .which will create WBS and Assign to Individual works with each WBS.. And also with HCM (Human Capital management) which will captures actual hours work done by each one.
    1) Before going for this we need to Configure u201CDIPu201D Profile which will captured the Cost and actual Hours billed and should assign to respective u201CContract Item Categoryu201D
    2) Contract Profile should de define and Assign to u201CService Contractsu201D
    3) Define Billing Plan type and Assign to respective u201CContract Item Categoryu201D

  • Preparing Report on Work Order

    I am preparing a report on Work Order used in EAM.
    I used EAM_WORK_ORDERS_V to get the details of work orders. But it shows some fields like WIP_ENTITY_ID, WIP_ENTITY_NAME. Does these field mean Work Order Id? I was actually trying to find Work Order Number, Work Order Name etc. Can any one let me know from which field can I get it?
    One more field shows WORK_ORDER_TYPE which has some numbers. There must be some other table where the work order Types are defined. Can any one please let me know which table shall give me the work order types?

    Wip_entity_name is the work order number.
    Wip_entity_id is a behind-the-scenes id that is used by Oracle to join other wip tables.
    You can get the work order type by using the following sql.
    SELECT lookup_code, meaning
      FROM fnd_lookup_values

    Hi,
    There are 3 ways to create work order in oracle cMRO.
    1) Through Maintenance Requirement and associated to visit and push to production.
    2) Non-routine.
    3) Unassociated Task.
    1.     Create Work Order From Maintenance Requirement:- In order create work order first of all we need to define an MR in Engineering > Fleet Maintenance Program > Overview > Create. After creating the MR Header at least one route should be associated (Route can be created from Engineering > Route >Overview > Create and the status should be "complete"). Then MR effectivity (means which item or unit MR is applicable) need to be defined and in turn the interval threshold also need to define. Once the MR is completed from the Planning window associate the MR to a visit and push to Production. In case of Planned MRs run the Build Unit Effectivities and view the due date from the Planning> Unit Maintenance Plan screen and associate to a Visit in Planning and push the visit to production. In case of Unplanned MRs create visit, associate unplanned MR, push to production.Work Orders would have generated and visible in Execution >Production Planning > Work Orders.
    2.     Create Non-Routine:- Non- Routines can be created from Execution and Planning
    a.Create Non-Routine work order from Execution:- Select the Routine work order and select Create Non-Routine work order from the pull down menu, furnish the details like severity, urgency, summary etc. and click on (B) Apply.
    b.Non-Routine from Planning: Create NR from Planning >Unit Maintenance Plan> Non-Routines (B)Create and then associate to a visit and push to production.
    3.     Unassociated Task:-This is for executing the miscellaneous operations to be done as part of already created visit. Navigate the visit task screen in an already created visit (Navigation: Planning > Visit Work Package > Overview > Search the visit > Click on the visit hyperlink> view visit task in side Menu), From the drop down menu select the “ Create Unassociated Task” and click (B) Go. Furnish the details in the Task header and click on (B) Apply and (B) Cancel, you would be navigate back to the “Visit Task” Screen. Select the unassociated task and push to production. Unassociated work orders would have created. You can create Unassociated task any time during the execution, before closing of visit.

    Hi,
    If you have a maintenance BOM and Routing for the activity in use for your work order
    The work order created will get the data defaulted from those BOM and Routing ie operations , BOM and Routing.
    Please check whether you have the BOM and routing and also please compare the BOM and routing information with the information you are adding.
    Also make sure that you are passing all the mandatory inputs.

    Actuly its infrastructure cmpany & user wants create Purchase order(service work order) for two different vendors with reference to single PR with alocating 60% quantity to 1st vendor & remaining 40% to another vendor.
    user allready created Po for 1st vendor (60% Quantity).
    Now system showing error " Quantity is allready full for reference PR"
    I want to know what is the procedue to solve this issue & customization.
