Internal screen vertical interlaced

Just out of nowhere my internal screen now and than turns out vertical interlaced. Either with black or white lines, alternating between normal screen at one vertical pixel row and a black/white line on the other. Like the interlace filter from the old days.
It's seems quite random, no heating issues or special software and the MBP is mostly sitting on my desk.
The mac keeps on functioning and the external display doesn't show the problem.
PR-ram/SMC reset didn't resolve the problem, it just stops and shows up again after a while.
Any idea's what could be wrong? I saw another post covering the same problem, but it wasn't solved.
Thanks!
Sebastian.

Hi all,
since approximately 4 weeks I have exactly the same problem like you guys describe. I already described it here
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2765765&tstart=45
but unfortunately nobody answered. Without having "apple care" or any other guaranty, after seeing a couple of pictures from the NVIDIA BUG PROBLEM and talking to some people, I decided to replace the display. Unfortunately the problem continues.
I think it is not very likely that the NVIDIA BUG Problem is causing such an consistent imaging error like we see it on our screens. All screen shots I have seen were with more chaotic imaging errors like colored blocks or a completely scrambled pictures.
Anyway...
Even the Aplle support seems not to be able to figure out what the exact problem is.
What is with your screen shots ??? Are they OK?
My screen shots are fine and not showing this vertical interlaced pattern.
I think they are two components, other than the screen or the grafic board, who could also be the issue.
The DISPLAY DATA CABLE and the LED DRIVER BOARD..... what do you think about ?
I appreciate any suggestion,
thanks
Chris

  • Full screen vertical scroller sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

Curious to know if anyone else has had this problem or there's some information that my elucidate this mystery:
Our publication ran a page with a full-screen vertical scrolling overlay today for the iPad. Inside of Viewer the folio flipped from page to page just fine, but once published we were unable to move between pages any longer once on this particular page. We've run full-screen vertical overlays before without incident and we're stumped to understand why the Viewer elicited no issues while the final publication did.
I put this question to you, Forum: Any thoughts?

    Hey Lightgarden,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, your iPhone 4s intermittently stops responding and displays a blank black screen. If you haven’t already, take a look at the article linked below and try the troubleshooting suggestions that it provides.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device doesn't respond when you press buttons
Your device might not return to the Home screen when you press the Home button, wake from sleep when you press the Sleep/Wake button, slide to unlock or power off, or it might appear frozen. Try these steps:
    Restart your device.
If it still doesn't respond, or if it doesn't turn back on, reset your device.

If you still need help after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.

  • 2 external monitors and internal Screen on T430S and Mini Dock Plus

    Hi Community,
I just got my new T430S and the MiniDock Plus. On the website I've ordered the combination I had the impression that I could use two external screens and the internal screen at once.
Unfortunately I don't manage to find the right settings to achieve that the internal screen is switched on.
I wonder if its just a question of settings or is it simply not possible to extend the screen over three screens.
Any help or hint  is greatly appreciated,
    Andreas

Intel 3000 doesn't support 3 independent LCD in this manner. You would need something USB2DVI or USB2VGA adapter to get the third LCD.

  • IMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), possible?

iMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), is it possible with Lion?

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way.   As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external.  This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.

    Hi,
I afraid that your printer is too old and no longer fully supported.
As you may find listed below already since Mac OS X 10.5 scan is no longer supported for your product:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01234231&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=3745...
I afraid your only options are using a 3rd party solution as Vuescan or replacing your device.

  • Internal screen shuts down after suspending on multi-screen configuration

    Hello,
I upgraded (very) recently to OS X Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, which is plugged on a second screen via VGA. I wanted to suspend the activity on my computer, so I chose "Suspend activity" and then I closed the display panel to get the computer to "sleep".
When I open the display, the internal screen remains off and is no longer detected by the system. When I go to "System Preferences" and select "Monitors", I get only the second screen preferences.
In addition to that, the background is the one set on the first screen, but adapted to the correct resolution (I use a 1920x1080 screen, the internal one is 1440x900). When I do a screenshot, only the second screen is included.
The only way to recover from this problem is to disconnect the VGA adapter and to reconnect it then.
Am I reporting this problem in the correct place, and if not, where do I need to report it?
    Thank you.

  • Run without internal screen?

I've had problems with my iMac and it's the graphic card that's in really bad shape. It freezes after about 1-3 minutes with a black screen.
So, I had some plans on using it as a headless server and have a custom front with a fan infront of the GPU. But it seems that the iMac needs the internal screen to be hooked up in order to start, can I do some workaround? Like tricking it to think the screen is hooked up or redirect the internal to the external?

I have an idea I think might work. If the lid on a PowerBook is in the closed position, there should be no restriction with installing a new OS using an external monitor since only the external monitor will be active. I realize you don't have a screen attached anymore, but the magnetic switch that senses when the lid is closed is in the base of the PowerBook near the trackpad. That should still be in place on your PB. So you can trick it into thinking the lid is still there. See the photo here:
    http://www.mrob.com/images/TiBook-400.jpg
That is for a 400 MHz TiBook, but hopefully yours is the same. Anyway, go get a magnet off your fridge and put it where that picture shows. It should put your Mac to sleep because it will think the lid was just closed. So try putting the magnet there and see if in fact it does trigger a sleep response.
If it works, then do a restart but leave the magnet there. You should be able to start from the boot CDs and install the new OS using your Viewsonic as the monitor. You have to have the PB plugged into it's AC adapter for this to work by the way.

  • Alu mb screen vertical line/bar washout obvious in black

i see a distinct, two-inch, vertical washout on my screen that's invisible when brighter colors are displayed. but if it's displaying the color black (screen isn't off) like say, the beginning of a keynote slideshow, i see a vertical bar, top to bottom, about two-inches wide almost centered on the screen that's washed out. so if the screen is supposed to be displaying the color black, the washed out portion is more of like a very dark grey.
you know when like a TV broadcast is interrupted it has those colored vertical bars? this is similar except it's one bar, and instead of displaying black, it's washed out grey. you can see it on darker colors, too. it just washes out to a lighter hue. but it's invisible if it displays brighter colors.
are there problems out there about this new LED screen technology?

i would compare your display to another like model in-store and see if the issue is the same. you could have abnormal backlight bleeding and or abnormal backlight unevenness. if so, it should be covered under warranty, as long as it wasn't caused by abuse/damage/neglect.

  • E90 Internal Screen Always On

Hi, I have a e90 and I was changing the housing on it. I got it all together but now something weird is happening. The Internal LCD screen is always on, even when the phone is closed its still on and the external screen will not activate. I know the screen works because when it powers up the outside lcd turns on and says nokia but then immediately the inside one is activated. Any help? Thanks in advance.

did you forgot to put back the neodymium magnet at it's place?
if you don't know where, it's just by the end call key left side, when you open the internal display.
I haven't completely opened my own but I did opened the external only and change the faceplate and keypad. I have two e90 any way . the other one is for experiment.

    Hi everyone!
My Imac (Intel CoreDuo, early 2006, 24") present same problems - vertical color lines, kernel panic and finally DEATH-. Just after reading this
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1580232&start=435&tstart= 0
I call Apple and a very nice guy tell me, Apple extend warranty for vertical lines problem, but only in 17" machines! I can´t believe it!
I´m pretty desperate. Someone with 24" Imac could solve the problem calling Apple?
I live in Spain, the serial number of my Imac is W8642**GN
    Thank you!

  • Display Screen (vertical vs. horizontal)

How can I prevent the display screen from flipping from vertical to horizontal when I turn the phone sideways?

Lock the portrait orientation by double-tapping the home button and flick the recent apps bar to the right until reaching the left end.  Tap the lock symbol.

  • Menu opens off the screen vertically?

I have a component and a button on top of the component which
opens a Menu. For some reason the flex team coded the menu so it
adjusts itself horizontally so it doesn't go off the screen from
left to right but not vertically from top to bottom. So if you open
a menu at the bottom of the screen the menu and submenu items will
run off the screen. Does anyone have a fix for this screw up? Flash
had a similar problem with their menus but seem to have fixed the
horizontal issue. I've seen several blogs but no solution so if
anyone can help I would appreciate it...

Ok, it could be two other things.
The monitor resolution could have changed. Go to System Preferences > Displays > Display tab > scroll this list of resolutions down and choose the bottom most resolution.
If that doesn't help you could have another monitor attached to extend the desktop. An additional tab (arrangement) will be present in System Preferences > Displays if that's the case.
Physically disconnect anything plugged into the mini displayport. The desktop should reset to one non-extended desktop.

  • I dropped my phone, internal screen issues

So I dropped my phone, and now when I start it up, the apple icon shows up just fine for about 10 seconds, then slowly fades to black, then the screen is lit up, but black, and nothing will show up. Tried restarting it multiple times, is not resolving. Is there any way to fix this issue? If i replace the screen (the screen is cracked), will it be fixed, or is it internally broken beyond repair? Thank you!

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. You will most likely be offered an out-of-warranty replacement (about half the cost of a new phone).

  • Iphone 3g screen horrible interlace/scanlines issue only after short sleep?

    Hi!
Strange issue: if I wake up my iphone 3g, the screen is fine. Everything works, like normal.
Now i put my iphone to sleep, and wake it up again: the whole screen has a horrible interlace/scanlines look. This doesn't go away, even if I put it to short sleep and wake it up again.
    BUT
If i put it to sleep and wait for 3min., the screen is fine again!
    Anyone experienced this? Any help?
I guess it is not a hardware issue because the screen is just fine, when enough time passed before i wake it up. really strange.
Deep reset didnt help, back to factory settings didnt help. I have no clue.

    used

and downgraded to 3.1.3 and my iPhone 3G is usable again.
