Internal USB card readers wont worth with my 694T Pro

I first bought an ECS internal card reader, and when it didnt work i figured it was because it was a cheap little $10 piece.
Then i bought a $24 Apacer and figured for sure it would work.
For some reason, my motherboard wont even work with these card readers, does anyone know why?

SON OF A.........
I just got to thinking, "hey maybe theres something in the BIOS that isnt configured properly"
so i shut down, and sure enough its set to only use USB ports 0 and 1.   So it turns out that the cheap card reader that i got for $10 would have worked perfectly fine.  So now i spent $14 more on a different card reader, and actually lost money on the other one that i sold on ebay!

  • Can anyone recommend a USB CF card reader that will work in my Macbook Pro Retina? My USB card readers for CF cards do not work

At present, the only way I can load photos from a CF card to my new Macbook Pro Retina is by loading them onto an external hard drive via an old PC that can accept either of my USB card readers, then plugging the external hard drive into my MBP. Neither the USB card reader or the cable that comes with the Canon HDSLR camera will transfer photos directly to my MBP. I find it unbelievable that I have to go to a PC to load photos because I can't do it with my new MBP.
Has anyone found a reliable USB CF card reader, or one that connects via thunderbolt or HDMI, at any price, that will work directly with the new MBP Retina?

    This is what we need:
Location photoshoot - we use the Canon EOS 5D  Mk II still camera & the Canon FX100 pro camcorder.
CF cards are: SanDisk Extreme UDMA & SanDisk Extreme Pro UDMA 6 for video (I think they are both Type II) My Mac recognises them both as FAT 32 format
My MBPRetina is on the latest version of Mountain Lion OSX 10.83
the files from the camcorder will transfer to my MacBook Pro Retina directly via the camera's cable but it is quite slow & it means I cannot continue to film while downloading files but this we can live with.
the files from the still camera Canon EOS 5D  Mk II will not transfer directly via the camera's cable - have yet to get the Canon software to download, but via the camera's cable will not help anyway as we need to have the still camera free to keep shooting.
We need to be able to take out the CF card from the first part of the shoot & download the still shots while just on the Macbook's battery power, while we insert a fresh CF card back into the still camera to continue with the next part of the shoot simultaneously (while the first card is downloading.)
The files from the first part of the shoot will be both in RAW (.CR2) & Jpeg format. We just need to quickly transfer the jpegs, then I do a quick sort, batch the best ones as black/white images, & use these in a client slideshow immediately after part 2 of the shoot.
Obviously we need fast data transfer speeds, & rely on the MBP's battery power while on a location shoot.
The card readers I have tried are an older specific CF card reader branded as Palm, & a USB 2 multi card reader branded as Travel Flash. With both readers, the lights on the readers flash on & off, & the MBP recognises the card & the files will even appear both in Finder & in i-Photo, so it starts importing, then aborts with an error message saying:
'The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)'
    & another message saying:
'the disk was not ejected properly'.
So it appears the MBP does read the CF cards but the card readers don't stay connected, no matter what angle I put them on or however many times I re-connect them.
Yes, they are probably cheap & I want to buy a decent one.
    So, in summary:
the card reader needs to work when the MBPR is only on battery power (I read in some forums that some USB card readers aren't so reliable on the laptop's battery power)
the card reader needs to be quite fast. I have read the USB 3 readers won't read CF cards at higher than USB 2 speeds. Is this true? Are the firewire connected ones faster, & if so, are they still reliable on the MBP's battery power?
From research, it appears my problem is associated with my specific model of Mac & platform, being MacBook Retina on Mountain Lion OSX Version 10.83. If any of the recommended card readers have been successful with this, plese let me know.
Thanks heaps for the suggestions so far.

  • Sun Ray, windows & and USB card readers

    Hi all,
I read, or was told that the new version of the SR software (version 5) should enable more USB devices to work in combination with Sun Ray.
We currently serve our users with windows via SunRay - and it works very well. The only issue being that we need to get usb card readers - such as the acr38 to work with SunRay. Until now this has not worked. Does anyone know whether this is currently possible or whether this should be possible using SR 5?
    thanks and regards,
    Paul

    Hi,
Do you provide terminal server desktop or a VDI based 'XP' desktop to your users ?
the next early access release (EA2) will support additional USB support; it seems only for VDI based 'xp' desktops; so that might solve your USB card reader request if you provide XP desktops.
The current PC/SC release does support some kind of second card reader attached to the sunray. Never looked indepth into this feature but i did see it read the card from the additional reader with the added debug tools.
Do you actually need this second card reader? Maybe you could use the PC/SC passthrough to windows to read the your card in the windows backend losing the second card reader.
if all else fails you could try a network USB hub. This device is attached to the network and your reader is attached to the device. Then you use a client on the windows environment to connect to the device; hence connect to your USB reader. The client on the windows environment that works with the device i've tested was only able to run just once on a terminal server.. so this is not a very scaleable solution if you run terminal server.
    regards,
    Patrick

  • Why has my USB Superdrive suddenly stopped working with my MacBook Pro?

Why has my Apple USB SuperDrive suddenly stopped working with my MacBook Pro?
Normally I plug it in and insert a CD or DVD and it is immediately recognised, but today it took the DVD, made a 'whirring' noise for a few seconds and then stopped without being recognised.

Try the options on this list:
    Credit Kappy.
    Try 1 and 5.
    Ciao.

  • Do SD card readers not work with 10.3?

I have an old G4 Power mac, and my kids have iMac G5s. We all run 10.3.9, and have SD card readers, and none of them work at all. Does Apple acknowledge that SD cards do not work with Macs, and/or was this fixed in 10.4? We are looking to replace our computers, and this is a deal breaker.

Okay, I did a little more research, and here's what I have found.
(Yes, I'm talking about a USB card reader.)
On my ancient G4 Mac, the 2GB card never mounts. I can see it with Disk Utility, but Disk Utility usually offers to format it. When I do this, it attempts to format it as a 1GB card, and fails.
However, I found an old 16MB card, and it mounts every time.
My kids both have a reader and a 2GB card for their iMacs. They usually mount okay, but not always. Sometimes it takes a restart.
The 2GB cards are all a funky off-brand, "Adata." The 16MB card is a Canon.
Now I am wondering if it's the cheap cards, or the capacity of the cards. I remember reading at one time that some Macs don't want to see removable drives over 1GB. This may be the problem with my computer. I just ordered a 1GB PQI card, we'll see how that does when it arrives.
My mac has both USB 1.1 and 2.0 slots. Same results on either bus.

  • PCI USB Card Does NOT Work With Mass Storage Devices

I have a StarTech PCI card with 6 USB 2.0 ports that I inserted in my 500 MHz (overclocked) B&W Power Mac G3. It works great for any USB device EXCEPT for any hard drive or DVD/CD-RW drive. I checked the system.log file for errors. Nothing shows up in System Profiler or Disk Utility, obviously. Here's what it consistently says:
Dec 16 23:33:28 Geoff-Myers-Power-Mac-G3 kernel[0]: USBF: 674.997 [0xf9c000] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 6 of hub @ location: 0x62000000)
    Dec 16 23:33:33 Geoff-Myers-Power-Mac-G3 kernel[0]: USBF: 679.977 [0xf9c000] The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.
I'm running the latest version of Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.3. What is wrong? StarTech doesn't have a driver, but nothing should be necessary. Is there a 3rd party USB Mass Storage Device driver that might work better than the Apple generic driver? PLEASE HELP ME! I cannot live with USB 1.1.

Some users have reported problems with certain brand cards and their controller chipsets, so trying a different card may resolve the problem. Keyspan and Macally are often mentioned as being more "Mac-friendly" than some other lessser-known brands or generic cards. Does the card have a mini-power port to supplement the power requirements? With USB 2.0, each port is on a separate bus, so a card with six ports should have one. To minimize the overall draw on the available power, I prefer to install USB cards with as few ports as are needed.

    Hello!
Let me first understand your question,  Do you want to know wich of 22 DLL´s, that you have, can you use to sent an AT command to retrive the MSISDN on SIM Card?
If you answer is yes, you should be identify all the functions in your dll and found wich of them ara used to sent AT commands like SMS send, SMS retrive, etc.., the same structure of this commands you can use to send another AT Command.
The number should be record on the SIM Card.
    AT+CNUM Subscriber Number
    Description:
This command returns the MSISDNs related to the subscriber (this information can be
stored in the SIM or in the ME). If subscriber has different MSISDN for different services,
each MSISDN is returned in a separate line.
    Test if the command
    is supported
    AT+CNUM=?

  • Mobilemate usb card reader adapter worked well in Macbk pro. suddenly stopped showing up as a device in finder-it is listed as a device in utilities- how do I get it to show up again?

Can anyone tell me how to get my mobilemate sandisk usb card reader adapter to show up in the finder as a device? Card is good and the adapter was working fine until my boyfriend tried to get it to work in a photo frame. When I plugged it back into my mac bk pro it is not recognized in the finder.
It does show up in the utilities as a usb device.
Does not show up as it had before in Image Capture or Iphoto.
LIke I said it was working in this computer no problem. light is on as if it is reading. card is not locked.
    thanks!

I reformated the disk with an applecare rep this morning. it did not correct the problem.
the card works fine when I insert it directly.
Just trying to find out why the adapter no longer shows up in the finder when it did previously- yesterday.
This is a usb device. Device shows up in system profiler.

  • Can I use a USB superdrive DVD reader/writer with a mac pro?

The internal CD/DVD read/writer in my macpro (2 x 2.66 ghz dual-core xeon) broke, so I purchased an external USB superdrive, thinking I could use it as an external drive. It does nothing when plugged into the mac pro, I cant even insert a disk. It seems to not even have power.
Anyway I now see the device (superdrive) is intended for a macbook air or mac mini.
Am I toast? Is there no way I can get this thing to work with the mac pro?
I dont think I can return it, I've already discarded all the packaging.
    Thanks for any advice.

I agree it would not take a lot of time, 2 minutes perhaps for the world record holder, for me more like 10 perhaps, not including the time involved in purchasing the drive, figuring out how to recycle the old broken one that comes out, etc.
However the key point is that if I can get this drive to work, the cost will be $0, as I've already paid for it. So I would be most interested in doing that, if possible. If it's not possible, then I'll have no choice to pay $30 or however much, for a new one.

  • Cant use targus mouse which has a little usb thing that plugs in but does not in the settings say how to use a usb mouse but it works with my macbook pro

  • I have an iPod G2 with a firewire 400 lead. how can I attach it to my new 13 inch Mac book Pro, is there a 400 to 800 firewire converter. USB lead wont work with the Macbook Pro. iPod used as an external drive to archive memory cards on the go.

My G2 iPod that I use as an external drive to archive memory cards on the go cannot link with my new 13" Macbook Pro cause it uses a firewire 400 lead. It will not work with a USB lead. Is there a firewire 800 ipod lead or converter available? Can any one shed some light on this please?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.

  • What internal hard drive can I get with 2007 Mac Pro?

    Hello,
I own a Mac Pro that I purchased sometime Early 2007 and I want to add an additional internal hard drive. I am a little confused as to what my options are after visiting the Apple online store. It seems they do not have a choice for 1 TB drives for my machine. I do know that my current drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 3.0Gb/s (SATA II) 500-GB (16 MB cache buffer) Hard Drive.
I was wondering if I could add a 1 TB drive or do I need to stay with 500 GB size drive? Also, do I need to stick with 16 MB cache buffer or could I go with the 32 MB cache buffer size? If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Normally, I would just think I could get any drive that uses a SATA II standard.
    Thank you,
    Leapstepman

I would still steer clear of Seagate, and WD drives are doing well across the board - Mac Pro and PCs.
Any SATA drive today is fine. SSD, 10K VelociRaptor, WD Green 1TB, Black Caviar... choice is yours.

  • Can't get GeForce GTX 560 Ti card CUDA to work with new Premiere Pro CC 2014 version

In the past I've been able to get CUDA on my GeForce GTX 560 Ti card to work with Mercury Playback engine by adding "GeForce GTX 560 Ti" to the cuda_supported_cards.txt file. But with the new CC 2014 version of Premiere, that file isn't in the Premiere Pro directory anymore. Is there a way to get my GTX 560 Ti to be listed as a CUDA-supported card with CC 2014?

Okay, I figured it out.  I installed the latest graphics driver and then opened the NVIDIA control panel.  In there I selected "Manage 3D settings" and went to the "program settings" tab.  I selected Adobe Premiere (adobe premiere pro.exe) from the list and under the "CUDA - GPUs" feature, I changed it to "Use these GPUs" and selected my GTX 560 Ti (which was the only one listed).
After doing that, I opened Premiere Pro CC 2014 and selected "Project Settings - General" and was then able to choose "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration" under Renderer (which had previously been unavailable).
Hopefully this will help someone else if they encounter the same problem.

  • USB Card Reader not recognized on new Mac Pro (late 2013)

My Sony USB multi-card reader (model: MRW62E), which I use for SD cards mostly, works on my MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), my new iMac, and my old Mac Pro (2009), via the USB ports, but is unrecognized entirely on my new Mac Pro (late 2013). All machines are running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Neither the card reader, nor the cards appear at all in FCP, image capture, apple system profiler, the desktop, or disk utility. I cannot find any drivers online addressing the issue, including Sony's website.
Perhaps an additional update for increased compatibility vis-a-vis the new Mac Pro would do the trick...

Does the reader show up under USB in System Report?
If the reader is working properly both the reader and an inserted card will show up.
