International calls via Hub phone

I'm sorry if this is something that has been discussed before but this is my first posting on these forums so bear with me!
I recently changed to BT Broadband for my ISP and signed up for Broadband Talk as part of the phone package having been told that international calls would be cheaper. The problem is that every time we have tried to dial abroad an automated message basically says that there are technical problems preventing this.
As it has now been going on for a couple of months, can anyone shed any light on what the problem is and - if possible - how to solve it?
Thanks.

Hi Tom
I would call the helpdesk on 0800 111 4567 and get them to test there is not a problem calling abroad to that country.
Is it all international country your having an issue with or just one?
Also are you dialing the correct code?

  • International calling via skype

Hi,  I am interested in giving skype plans for internatiol calls a chance to see the quality of the call. I already have purchased a 1 month subscription plan for my desired country. However, I was thinking more about this and a question came to my mind: When I am using skype on my phone (Andorid if it matters): a) will Skype need wifi or internet connectivity to make this call? If not, then b) will it make the call via my phone plan? If not then, c) how is Skype making the call if it's not using internet connectivity or phone connectivity to my cell phone provider? I want to be sure that I am not actually making an international call via my phone service provider, which I then have to pay a lot of money to the provider at the end of the month. To me, it is natural to think that since Skype started as a VOIP service, it still needs internet to make such calls. But from what I am reading, it seems that the plans that skype offers for phone calls, which require you to buy credit, still work without the internet. Am I right on this or am I getting the whole concept wrong?

Hello and welcome to the Skype Community.
Skype calls are made via the internet with this exception:

I am receiving calls from 911, 917, 918, 919, etc. I believe these are international calls from mobile phones in India. How can I block/stop them?

Unwanted calls are never pleasant! To confirm, are these calls only coming from 3 digits numbers? If coming from 10 digit number we offer 5 free blocks via https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/nos/safeguards/SafeguardProductDetails.action?productName=callMessageBlocking. While not the most convenient, we also offer the ability to change your phone number free via http://www.vzw.com/myverizon.

  • HT1688 Is there any App for blocking the International calls on my phone?

Is there any App for blocking the International calls on my phone?

    No.
For security reasons, 3rd party apps don't have access to private iPhone APIs which such an app would require.
You want to stop being able to place such calls or stop receiving such calls?
If the latter, try stopping it at the source by contacting your carrier.

  • How to setup pin for national or international calling on 3905 phones

    Hi,
I have this new project on CME along with IP phones 3905.
I was just trying to find if there is any work around or scripts that i can use for calling national and International number using a pin.
Any help in this regards will be appreciated.

    Hi Zekeria,
    Thank you bro.
What i failed to understand here is that will everyone have same password or can we keep unique passwords for each user.
I understand that this password or pin will work on all the phones but i would like to know can it co-exist with after-hours pin??

  • Can TP make calls via bluetooth phone?

I am able to tether my HTC Aria and HP Touchpad via bluetooth and can receive calls on the TP  (pretty cool) but I cannot dial on the TP (select a contact) and get the phone to make the call.
Is this even possible or is it strictly a Skype feature?
I figure I am expecting too much since the TP is simply acting as an Bluetooth headset.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Yup. I do it with my Samsung Env 3. I know a few phones won't work but a lot do. Give it a try.
You have to get the phone/dialer to use bluetooth instead of Skype in preferences.

  • How can i merge calls via I Phone 3 GS as my phone is not supporting to the call merge while call merging is available on my phone via my n/w provider ?

Any one help me out in this?

    And who is your carrier?
Supported carriers in India are Aircel and airtel. If you're using a different carrier, you will have to work it out with them.

  • Home Hub Phones & blocking calls from a particular...

I have a BT Home Hub 1.5 and the Hub Phone. Is it possible to block, or blacklist one phone number, so as it cannot call my hub phone?
I tried saving it in the phone book & allocating a ring tone of "None" but it still rings. I have also looked under Advanced in the web interface for the home hub, but cannot see anything there either.

    Hi KeithAFrench,
If you take a look at the link Choose to Refuse, you will find some information on calling feature and this could help you to block calls from that number. Let me know if you still have any question regarding this service.
    Cheers

  • Strange Hub Phone Problem

    Hello,
I have just upgraded to a home hub 2.0 and hub phone 2.1 (I have been a BT Broadband user for many years).
The problem that I have is with the hub phone. It makes calls with crystal clarity. It receives calls from landlines, T-Mobile and Vodaphone. It will not receive calls from O2 or Orange.
My mobile and some of my family's are O2. When you call the hub phone (which has a London 020 3 number) from an O2 mobile, we get the message "The number you have called is not recognised. Please check the number".
I have spoken to O2, who tell me every thing is fine at their end and BT, who also tell me all is fine.
    All is not fine, evidently.
I wondered if any of you knowledgeable persons had any ideas, or if anyone else has had this problem.
    Tearing hair out at present!!!
    Thanks
    P

    Hi Rosep59,
Did you get this sorted yet? I've had a look around and can find no issues with mobile calls to the hub handset. Is it specific numbers that aren't getting through? Have there been problems with any other numbers? Do you have call barring set up on the hub handset? Let me know and we'll take it from there.

  • International calls. iPhone 4

Hi. What did I not do? Just got back from Costa Rica- had checked with AT&T and was assured iPhone 4 would work there ( if I needed to make calls). No such luck. Phone detected the cellular network but still showed "no service". Is this a sim card issue? Thanks

You do not need international dialing turned on or data roaming or any of that to receive an international call. Your phone's global settings are irrelevant.
Log into your Verizon account on your computer and make sure you haven't inadvertently blocked his number (Verizon will allow you to block up to 5 numbers). Have your friend try dialing your number manually rather than from a stored contact.

  • International Calling charges $2.50 per minute

I used the *611 tool to add international calling to my plan. It was super easy but I've been financially assaulted with charges. Here's how things transpired:
    1) Dialed *611 and stepped through the options, some via key strokes and verbal direction, ultimately I added international calling to my plan.
         a. At no point in this process was I prompted by the automated system of my potential charges; I was not advised of them via email or text either. I      thought that was strange but, unfortunately, moved on with my day without follow-up.
    3) Approximately 1 week later I called my friend in Australia and spoke approximately 60 minutes.
    4) Bill arrives: $237.55. It's normally $74.51. A 218% increase!
    5) Called customer service (spoke with Anthony) on 3/17/15. Was advised that I was charged $2.50/minute for my international call plus taxes!!
    6) 3/20/15 Anthony called me back, as he was granted approval to provide me with a $30 credit. Anthony provided excellent service and support by demonstrating kindness, listening and follow-thru, and I say this NOT because I was provided a credit, but because he truly was pleasant to work with.
My grievance is in regards to what I feel are deceptive practices: no confirmation of charges upon adding international calling via *611, nor was a confirmation email or text sent to my attention. Why? Can this be improved?
My requests: more thorough advisement to your international calling customers when making the *611 tool as accessible as it is. Sure, I like ease and keeping it simple, but I don't like the lack of communication that I was provided and the outrageous charge. On behalf of myself, current and future customers, I ask that you review this particular feature within the *611 tool.
I've taken my lessons from this process and I ask that you consider my circumstance so to improve the customer service experience.
    Thank you.

I know International charges can add up fast, jai4. I'm sorry the automated process was not clear of charges. All of the International plans, options and rates are available online here:  http://www.verizonwireless.com/landingpages/long-distance/  Since the services were used, we're unable to issue more credits. Again, I'm really sorry!   VanessaS_VZW

  • Using two hub phones

Can anyone tell me if I can use two hub phones and use both phones simultaneously and talk to the one person, so there will be three phones used, the two hub phones and the other persons phones. The reason I ask is because at the minute with the dect phones we have me and my wife can both talk to my mother at the same time. Thanks for your help.

No, the hub phones will not work like that as if you make a call on hub phone 1 and then switch on hub phone 2 by doing this you will get dialtone on the second phone and not just switch into hubphone 1s call.
It is an actual feature of the hubphones to make multiple simultaneous calls, but in your situation this is not a lot of help.
You could just plug a standard cordless phone into the back of the hub that has multiple handsets, in that situation it would work just how you want.

  • UCCX with international call authenication

    Dear member,
I have a customer would like to enhance the privileges on the international call base on phone number and password (FAC, CMC cannot fulfill it). If we route the call to UCCX (collect the phone number), IVR script (get the password from user input), and authenticate through somewhere then routes to CCM. Is it possible to do that?
One of my concerns is the no. of IVR port if many user call in.
Any comment on this solution or any other better solution?
    Regards
    Russ

    Hi,
no, it looks like a simple and solid way of doing that using UCCX.
Alternative: use the Routing Rules engine of the CUCM and ask an external application about the calling and the caller number every time a call is placed. This external application would contain the extension of the user (caller) and the list of numbers he/she is allowed to call, so no password is needed, everything is done automagically.

  • BT Hub phone calling plan

I currently have 'anytime' on my landline - can I switch this to my hub phone instead?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Merlinsmum,
I reckon it would be best to leave it until your contract is up. The thing is that with broadband talk you effectively have a second account with free evening and weekends or the £4.99 anytime plan which would mean paying for 2 calling plans, landline and talk. If you have the anytime plan on your landline you can wait until the term is up and then go for a basic package and add the anytime to your talk account. Hope that makes sense.
    Cheers
