International Character Support?

Hi
The message I sent out for a share invitation included
umlauts (Für das Meeting heute); it arrived as "Fr das
Meeting heute" in Entourage on a Mac.

The current version of the Share service does not yet support
international character sets. We are adding support for this in
Share currently and will provide more information about supported
languages and locales as we come closer to releasing a new
version.

  • Oc4j and international character sets

Does anyone know if there is a problem in oc4j concerning international charactersets support?
My pages contain non-english characters and so i use utf-8 characterset. When the page is created by a servlet the characters are displayed correctly, but when it comes from a jsp this is not the case.
The problem is that the text is not displayed in utf-8 but in "western european (windows)" instead which is not the correct encoding. This does not happen in the servlet case above. Still if I change the borwser encoding setting
the information is displayed correctly. But I cannot do that for every page, they are to many...
If i try to instruct the page about the encoding the outcome is a real mess because no brwser characterset encoding configuration option seems to be suitable. I tried the following:
    - the page directive: <%@page contentType=... pageEncoding...
    - the request: request.setContentType
    - oc4j configuration: default-charset configuration in the global-application.xml config file
    - and the oracle extension <% serwriterEncoding(...) ; %>
all of the above had no result while servlets perform swell !
    Am I missing something here?
Does any body knows something that I do not?
Does the jsp container mess with the encoding and sends to the browser incorrect page encoding?
    Thank you in advance,
    Joe

  • Traditional character support --Locale

We need to have traditional character support(chinese, japanese etc) for our applications. The traditional text is available in the oracle database and is displayed correctly in toad but when we access it thru browser/stand alone java app, it is not shown. The language pack is installed correcly on the machine. What else is required to be done to show it? I dont think so any locale specific settings needs to be done in the application.

I'm not aware of swing needing any language packs to display Asian characters. Do you know what encoding the db uses to store the text (utf-8 hopefully)? Can you post the code you use to retrieve the text from the db?

  • Music Player Character Support

On my N70, In my old firmware v3.... something when i went on music player it opened straight away and worked fine, now i have updated firmware v 5.0609.2.0.1, when i open music player, it firtly says opening, but then it says 'a processar' which i do not beleive to be english however my phones languge is set to english.
Also certain songs, like "MAXÏMO PARK" the name does not appear correctly, it is shown as Max(square symbol)o Park, this missing the i (with 2 dots) character and the m next to it... there are many songs which have unusual characters like this but the n70s new firmware does not show them, they were shown on my old firmware, but not on v5.0609.2.0.1
could someone at nokia please tell me if a new firmware will b relaesed anytime soon? and if so will it have full character support?

I have N95 (v 12.0.013). Using Croatian characters. They show properly in WMP11 and Nokia Music Manager, but show only empty squares in device player.
    Any ideas?

  • Non-ASCI character Support in OAM 11g

    Hi,
I have a requirement to test the user authentication with Oracle Access Manager 11g.
I am using Active Directory as the user repository and able to create a user with the user id containing non-ASCI value (say Äuser1) and AD allows for it creation and when i try to provide access to that user in the OAM''s application in the constraints tab, after selecting that user from repository and when I say Apply, I receive an error message saying that
"The policy store is not available; please see the log file for more details."
and in the weblogic server log, i can see an error with Error Code: 1461 with a description saying INSERT INTO JPS_ATTRS (JPS_ATTRS_ID, ATTRVAL, ATTRNAME, JPS_DN_ENTRYID) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?).
Can anybody know if there are constraints as such with respect to supporting on non-ASCI characters in OAM 11g?
    Thanks,
    Nagendra

  • Special character Support in IDM

We have enabled the special character support in IDM as per the SUN documentation and we are able to populate the special charactes using the IDM admin console also. But when we run a flat file adapter to process a flat file having special character it fails.
It simply displays the ? in place of special character.
Has anyone solved this problem. Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks

    Got the solution.
We have to give the encoding in the Flat File adapter configuration.

  • Chinese character support for 6210 Nav

I brought my mobile in Australia which cannot support Chinese characters (Traditional). Is there any application i can install so that my mobile can support Chinese characters (Traditional)?
    Francis

easiest way to gain support for traditional chinese characters would be to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre and ask them to install additional languages and the character support that you require.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Special Characters international character set viewing

Hi, I'm using iWeb under german language conditions and like to use the special characters of the international character set.If I enter these in iWeb it looks fine. When i publish it the viewing is not done correctly (using a third party web-server, not iCloud). Any suggestions to solve this issue?

You don't have to mention you use a 3 rd party webserver, since you cannot publish to iCloud in the  first place.

Has anyone been able to setup international address support in I-Supplier Portal ?

  • Need a fast implement: Unicode character support

    Dear Primavera Developer Team,
We are in urgent need for a full range of Unicode character support in P6. Our customers in Vietnam really interested in P6 but problem remain when we want to input our language into the software. A strange thing is that with Primavera Contract Mangement we have no issue with those Unicode character but P6 both thick client and web app do not support so. It is a pain for us.
Hope you consider this as soon as possible :((

Offtopic, but did you know feh has a right click menu?  Rotation is in this menu.
Oh yes, I do know the right click. but I guess I never looked hard enough for the rotation as I do it very infrequently. Thanks for the tip.
How would I set feh, so that when I double click a image file, feh would start up and show that image? If I can get that (and I haven't tried that yet), I guess I can get rid of mirage then.
That's not an feh config, that's a config for whatever file manager you are using.  I'm not sure of the options you'd need to pass feh because I always run it on the command line.

What does the channel control do if it does not?
    Iss additional hardware needed?

  • International Character Set Variable Assignment

I am fairly new to AppleScript, and would appreciate your help. I have an AppleScript that accepts numeric input from a user, e.g.:
display dialog "Please enter a number" default answer foo
if button returned of result is "OK" then
    try
set interval to (text returned of result as string) as number
    on error
    display dialog "Whoops"
    end try
This code works fine for EN-US users. However, for users with keyboards set to international character sets, the variable "interval" will not be defined.  The problem is that these users are inputting in a character set that AppleScript is not recognizing as numeric, as far as I can tell.
I have been unable to find a solution for these international users, after much searching and trial.
    I have tried the following:
    - Casting as UTF8, e.g. "as «class utf8»"
    - Casting as string, numeric, etc.
I would like to do this within AppleScript if possible (i.e. not use shell script). However, if shell script is necessary (e.g. iconv) that will be OK.  Can anyone point me at a solution?  Thank you in advance.

Two things...  It sometimes helps to decompose complex statements into separate lines; break up the set interval ... line into one step that gets the text and and another that converts it to a number. Also, try using real rather than number. Number is intended as an abstract class, and applescript may be having a problem deciding whether to cast odd unicode to real or integer. A script with both changes looks like so:
set theResult to display dialog "Please enter a number" default answer foo
set interval to (text returned of theResult)
if button returned of theResult is "OK" then
              try
set interval to interval as real
              on error
                        display dialog "Whoops"
              end try
    end if
Also (just to be sure) in your original script if you press a button other than "Ok" interval is never defined at all, so in your error block you either need to set interval to a default value or add a return command to exit the script.

  • International SmartNet Support

Not sure if this is in the right forum...
I'm in the process of working with our Cisco VAR to purchase some gear for a collection of International sites outside the US (Canada, Australia, UK, Netherlands). I want 24x7x4 support but I want to make sure the support is bought for the appropriate country. The quote the VAR has sent me has the same part number as support I would buy for inside the US, however the price is higher. Are there specific SN part numbers for each region or otherwise what is the process for registering the SN coverage in the appropriate country. I trust my VAR is doing the right thing, I just want to understand the process myself.
    Thanks in advance.

It really isn't possible to confidently work out the character encoding of an incoming byte stream from the bytes sent. Different encodings may give different, but equally valid characters for the same bytes.
Are we talking a web service here? If so then the encoding a browser returns on a form is the same as the one you send the form in. Don't use new String(bytes, encoding) for this, use HttpServletRequest.setCharacterEncoding(). For internationalised web sites, best to use UTF-8 for your pages.

  • International Chars Support

    Hello Gurus
After making our server scalable, we are now ready to deploy it world wide. I have a question regarding encoding/decoding international characters.
We want the server to support as many languages as possible. Presently, I decode the bytebuffer using few constant (English based ) charsets. If unsuccessful, I try to find all the charsets on the machine and then decode it one by one till it decodes successfully. For texts with French + English characters, after I call toString on the charBuffer, all the English characters are stripped off leaving only French Characters(weird chars not found in Engligh but only in French). The type of encoding used by client is not known.
Let me know how to proceed. Any help would be very appreciated.
