Hello everyone,
I’m planning to visit New York City (I am from Greece) in July, I will buy a MacBook Pro from the 5th Avenue Store. My question is about the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Up-to-Date Program, from the internet site I read:
“If you purchased a qualifying Mac or Xserve on or after June 8, 2009, that does not include Mac OS X Snow Leopard, you can upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard for $9.95.*,
(*Covers product plus shipping and handling fee. U.S. customers add appropriate sales tax.)”
Please inform me about this option for Non U.S. customers.

Hi Andy,
Up-To-Date programs as well as Mac OS X upgrades in general, usually function on a worldwide basis, the same everywhere at the exact same time and the same (equivalent) price too
(and this includes shipping price which should be zero usually).
So I wouldn't worry too much about your concern,
as long as you register your new MacBook Pro and duly keep your proof of purchase (bill) when you buy it.
When it's time to Up-To-Date program
(same time in the US, in Greece and everywhere else)
then you'll have to fill the appropriate online form and enter your registration date, serial number etc.
Only thing I'd personally be careful to do if I were you:
Get a wireless internet connection, in your hotel or somewhere in New York, and set your MacBook Pro there so you can register it when you buy it, just to make sure.
You might be able to do that also in the Store?

Please tell me how to create an Internal Customer for Interplant stock transfer.
Actually I have three plants out of them two plants are providing goods to third plant. Also both the plants do the stock transfer in eachother.
How to maintain the Two plants as supplier and third one as a receiver plant.
which account group I should use and what details I have to use for it ? Do I need to maintain all three plants under same account group? I know the theoratical process only for stock transfer please guide me on this Internal customer issue.

Hi,
Take your three plants as AAAA, BBBB and CCCC.... and these 3 plants may be assigned to the Sales Area of AAA 10 10, BBB 10 10 and CCC 10 10.
Your STO will have following 4 flows.
1. AAAA - CCCC
2. AAAA - BBBB
3. BBBB- CCCC
4. BBBB- AAAA
you need to do the following settings...
1. Assign the Sales Area for the Shipping Plants... for ex (AAAA - AAA 10 10 and BBBB - BBB 10 10)
2. You need to Create a Internal Customer for every Rec. Plant and need to assign the same to the Rec Plant. And Also note that this customer needs to be created in the Sales Area which is assigned in the Shipping Plant.
(Note that CCCC will be Rec Plant from Both AAAA and BBBB... So you need to extend that customer for both the Sales Area of the plants AAAA and BBBB)
Following is the example settings required for our scenario 1.
AAAA will be a supplying plant and CCCC will be rec. plant.... for this you need to create a internal Customer (for ex C1000) in Sales area AAA 10 10 (which is assigned to the plant AAAA) and assign the Customer number (C1000) to Plant CCCC.
Now you created a plant CCCC as a customer in Sales Area AAA 10 10 (which is nothing but plant AAAA)...
Also here you need assign the Sales Area AAA 10 10 to the Plant AAAA.

Create a customer in the Delivering Plant / Sales Area and assign it to the ordering Sales org. This customer will act as internal customer.
This customer needs to be assigned to the ordering plant through SPRO --> IMG --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Purchase order --> setup Stock transport order
--> Define Shipping data for plants.
Select the ordering plant and assign the customer.

Internal customer is the inter company customer .
this inter company customer is created in the delivering plant sales area and it has to be extended to ordering plant sales area
in your case delivering plant sales area is abcd / aa / cd
so customer should be created in the abcd / aa / cd and he to be extended to ordering plant sales area 2345 / 23 /45
company code should be different as you are doing inter company billing
This internal customer must be assigned in the ordering plant

i just want to know which is the account group I can use for the internal customer.
and in that customer grp do I need to feel the dummy customer details like usual cust details ? or what elase?
will the only one customer be ok for two different receiving plants?
In MM> Purchasing> Purchase Ord --> Define shipping data for plant
we have different plant entries there if we go for details of plant we can see the customer number and the sales area here i cant understand that what customer we have to assign, that internal customer ? which Sales Area, same of a internal customer ???
can we maintain the different combinations like supplier plant becoming the delivering plant and vice a versa.
Please guide me on above query.

Hi,
1. There is nothing about the Customer Account Group for Internal Customer... You may use the Standard Sold to Party account group for the same... But the best practice will be a different account group with different number range... this will be helpful to understand that this is internal customer when doing transactions... here you can also leave the non required fields....
if you use the Same Sold to party... its better to maintain different Customer Group for the internal customers...
2. what customer we have to assign, that internal customer ? Yes That Internal Customer only... that means that whenever you create a delivery for this customer... the delivery will reach this Plant....
This internal customer number is assigned to the plants which will a receving plant in STO...
But the Sales Area here requires for Shipping Plant and not for recieving plant... This Sales Area is assigned to create delivery and Billing during the STO for this plant whenever the same is used a shipping plant... so this will not be same internal customer's sales area... but one of the sales area responsible for this plant....

CP8: Custom question using multiple TEBs / Scrollable Text Widgets

Hi,
I want to create a custom question with multiple Text Entry Boxes (TEBs) or Scrollable Text Widgets (STWs) that is compatible with HTML5.
User has to enter just one word in each TEB / STW i.e. a one line STW.
I want the user to be able to Retry the question i.e. click Retry button to automatically clear the TEBs / STWs that are incorrect.
Question is not being scored or reported to an LMS.
TEBs:
I'm assuming you can't clear a TEB so I tried using a STW.
STWs:
FYI: I'm clearing the STW using Null.
The issues I am trying to resolve are:
1. Disabling the Enter key so that the 1 line STW will behave like a TEB i.e. doesn’t move to the 2nd line, and the Up Down scrollable indicators aren't displayed.
There is a post that suggests executing JS on Slide Enter but I already have an Advanced Action associated with Slide Enter.

2. When retrying a question how do I disable STWs i.e. ones that contains a correct answer so user can't change it. (I know the Disable action won't work)

Some answers, probably not all what you want. I blogged about using the Scrolling Text (formerly the TextArea widget) several times.
In Captivate 8 you can indeed control what is shown in the Scrolling Text Interaction, by changing the associated variable. That was not possible before this version (have been begging for it, finally with success) and it is still not possible for a Text Entry Box. You can change the value of the variable, but it will not be visible in the TEB.
An interaction is automatically reset when re-entering the slide, maybe that can help you as well? That is not the case for a TEB.
Disabling has no sense for an interaction that is static, only for interactive objects (and interactions). That means that you can disable a TEB, but not a Text Scrolling Interaction.
Maybe this tip to prevent changing a correct answer for the interaction: replace the interaction by a similar looking text container with the value of the variable if the answer is correct.

Hi,
Yes you are right, you have to create internal customer in US Comp code / Sales org /Plant but with country Canada.
It means you have to create internal customer in delivering sales area.The country of Internal customer is same as Ordering Party Sales Organization, in your case it is Canada.

Internal table question

Hi Everybody-
I am very new to SAP and i have question regarding internal tables. I have struture called "ZMI_VENDOR_TO_BW_GENERIC_V_TAB" which i get from another sap system thru SAP XI. Now i need to traverse thru this structure and add these values into custom database table. So i have declared an internal table like below

Internal Customer Name vs. External Customer Name

Is there somewhere in Customer Master information where I can store an internally used customer name vs the actual shipping name/invoicing name?
We have customers that do not want their official name on shipping labels because the boxes will get stolen based on the name of thier company. So we want to have the official name in our system to search on and work with, but ship with some abbreviation or alias.
Example:
Internal Name: Jim Smith's Fine Jewelery Shop (the real name)
External/Shipping Name: JSFJS Inc (alias to hide the shipped contents)

I do not know if somebody already helped you on your question or you did, but here is a possible solution.
You can solve this problem by comple the NAME 1 field when you create your customer with the "real name" of the customer, and in NAME 2 with the "alias" name.
Then when you define your shipping and invoice documents, you must take the name of your customer from NAME 2 in the form.

Adding internal HD question

My G4 came with 3 internal 40G HDs. One quit working years ago and the start up HD recently began having kernel panics--the most recent of which I can't get around.
I thought I might be able to start up using the other HD and tried loading 10.0.3 on it but it hangs up at 'Optimizing System'.
I have another HD from another G4 which has Tiger loaded, and my thought was that if I put this in my "panic'd" machine I'd be able to use Tiger for start up and then be able to access my files on the 40G HD. Is that correct/likely?
If so, here's my problem/question: The 40G HDs were all connected to one cable which came from the top of a PCI card. They have what I think are SCSI connectors? The Tiger loaded HD I'd like to add has a different connector--ATA?
Can I simply connect the newer HD like it was connected in the other G4, and if so, will I need to change it to 'slave'?

If the others are SCSI, and the 'new' one is ATA, then, yes, you can connect it like it was in the machine it is coming from. However, you would not jumper it as Slave - when an ATA bus has a single device (drive) on it, that device should be jumpered as Master. Exception - if the drive is a Western Digital brand and has a setting called "Single", use that instead of Master.
The designations Master and Slave on IDE/ATA buses confer no preference or priority, at least in Macs; they are simply addresses. If you have two drives on the ame bus, one set as Master and the other as Slave, either can be used as the primary boot drive.
Exception - if the machinne is ever set up as the Target machine in a Firewire Target Disk Mode config with another Mac, then only the drive set as Master on the ATA bus on the Target machine will appear on the Host machine's desktop.
As for whether that will allow you to access the non-available 40GB SCSI drives, that's a different thing. It would depend upon the reason those drives are presently not available. One way to check in advance is to boot to a valid install CD - if the drives appear when booted to it, then they should be available when the machine is booted to the ATA drive. If not, then probably not.

International Applecare Question

Hey guys. So, my iPod Shuffle stopped responding two weeks before I'm about to fly back to Canada after a year abroad in the UK. I'm thinking about getting a Nano, and I know that I want to buy the Applecare, since, as much as I love Apple products, they do have a tendency to break a lot.
But if I buy the iPod in the UK, does that mean I have to buy Applecare in the UK as well? Or can I buy my iPod in the UK and the Applecare in Canada? If I have to buy the Applecare in the UK, what does that mean in terms of my coverage for Canada?

With Skype there are no international calls. All calls are local worldwide irrespective of origin or destination.

3. A Skype call from anywhere travels via the internet and only breaks to PSTN or a cellular network at a point close to the recipient's phone or device.
4. Some call recipients may be charged and some will not. It depends upon their plan but, even if some are charged, the amount would only be a few cents. The cellphone carrier will see the call as local [3. above].

And dmesg:
Using specific hotkey driver
What driver i've to use??
Another question... I've compiled a custom kernel but i dont know how i can do a initrd for my custom kernel.

International Texting Question

I have a question to clarify some things.
I am currently a Verizon customer in the USA with Unlimited Texting, data, and have 700 shared minutes with the other lines.
I have a friend in Canada, and will be sending texts from the USA. To my understanding of your post, since I am in the USA and texting someone in Canada it falls under my "unlimited texting" and is free to contact my friend. However, under your linked "more info" page, each text sent and recieved from Canada will charge me $0.20. I want to know which source of information is correct before getting surprise charges on my bill.

If you make a plan change mid-month, you usually have 3 options. You can either BACKDATE the plan to the start of the billing cycle, have it take effect immediately, or FORWARDDATE the plan to the start of the next billing cycle.
If you activate a new texting package, and BACKDATE it, you will be charged the full amount for the cost of that plan for the month, and all of your usage will be billed under your new plan. This can eliminate overages in a lot of cases.
If you activate the new package and choose to have it take effect immediately, or at the start of the next billing cycle, only usage that happens after the plan is activated will be billed under that plan. All your previous usage will be billed under your old plan.
