International Fonts on My BB

I can't read Persian (Farsi) characters in emails on my 8830 World Edition Blackberry. I used to be able to do so on my previous BB (Curve).
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Ali

Thanks for the reply.
I tried that also, but no success.
What I have tried so far.
1. Created a new user.
2. Changed font smoothing.
3. Adjusted diplay settings.
4. As per your suggestion, tried validating all fonts.
Also, I haven't performed a clean installation of Mountain Lion, I just upgraded to Mountain lion from lion. Would that be a problem? Shoud I try to perform a clean installation?
I have atteched some more screenshots as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

  • JTextField and International fonts using M.S Access.

    Hi
JTextField shows boxes or weird characters with International fonts (Arabic or Farsi language) using M.S Access. English Fonts work fine. Any help, please.
    Thanks

It doesn't matter which country you are calling from. The rates are based on the country you are calling to, so for example the rates for calling to US are the same no matter where from the world you are calling.
There are currently some promotional rates for our users in US and Canada for making international calls, these rates are available only in US or Canada, but generally it does not matter which country you are located in.
You can check the rates on the following page:
    http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates/
Simply enter the country you want to call to, and the rates will be displayed.

  • International Fonts in Safari

I installed some international fonts on my mac mini, they seem to be working fine in some applications, such as word, but I cannot see them in Safari. Font Books also shows thes fonts correctly. Can anyone help? FYI - I am a novice Mac user.
    Thanks.

Example: The following url does not show the correct
    panjabi fonts
    http://www.sikhnet.com/hukam
Although I have downloaded the punjabi fonts from the
site as a I mentioned above.
The website you want to view requires special non-standard fonts that will not normally work correctly in Safari and other Apple apps that conform to the Unicode Standard. However I have found that they will sometimes work OK with the Opera browser (or perhaps even FireFox). I recommend you download Opera and try that.
OS X comes with fonts for reading and writing Unicode Hindi and Punjabi already. This note may be useful:

  • Photoshop CS6 Internal Font Missing!

Help,  I was using Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4 trial, and it ended, but when it did now because I can't use it, somehow it must have removed or just had de-activated the photoshop internal system font.    All of my panels and menus etc except for the top windows-menus lists, but everything else is missing - blank.   I can't do anything in photoshop practically speaking.  Cannot see any layer names etc... normal type-tool and fonts loaded show up, but nothing in the program itself.   So I can't even enter numerical values for anything.   Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Muse, Bridge, Premiere, After Effects - -- all of these are working just fine.... what is the specific font I need to re-install for Photoshop to display?  It is the same font that starts listing when you open the program on the splash logo where it is saying "loading fonts" etc and all that stuff, its just blank... so please whatever that font is I need to know and install it to my windows directory again so I can use photoshop.   Thanks!

Hey,  got it fixed but I'm having trouble really nailing it down to why it happened... it has something to do with the arial font that photoshop uses and I must have not had it loaded...  I can only repeat it within the program by using Bitstream Fon Navigator to load all the arial fonts and when it does - it replaces whatever is loaded when photoshop starts - then the photoshop UI drops all internal fonts when you hover or switch panels etc...   but when I close and open again it works fine -- so it must have been that the Extensis trial ending dropped a key font that photoshop was looking for - and once I got it to find it again now it at least keeps it somewhere to load each time the program starts... hopefully this won't happen again but at least I know that I just have to load all arial fonts to get it back.   Thanks for the help either way, tried the resetting preferences but I couldn't even see any text in the window to reset it.

  • Lost internal fonts in Acrobat X

We recently deleted over 1000 fonts from our main computer running Windows 7 64 bit.  It appears we inadverdently deleted the font that Acrobat Pro X uses for it's internal use to supply test in sub windows such as the print window.  All I get are the graphics - no text.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the probram but no cure.  Does anyone know the name of the font used in these internal windows of Acrobat?

This has nothing to do with the fonts being Cyrillic. If you don't have the the exact font you cannot edit the text. You can try to change the text to a font you do have, then it can be edited. BUT, remember even though adobe has given us the ability to edit a PDF, the results can be horrible. It is better to go back to the original flies used to create the PDF.

  • Fonts, Internal Font Name Problems

I have a typeface with multiple weights, lets say 30. However, in the operating system, these are all grouped together under five weights, so that multiple weights are covered by the same generic name (e.g., regular, bold, bold italic). Therefore, when I try to use the typeface in an application, only the five weights are available for use. For instance, the display weight and regular weight are both covered by the style name "Regular"; I can only have available for use the weight that happens to be listed first under the style name.
Apparently, the type designer did not correctly assign the internal names to the different weights (even though the opentype file name correctly lists the weight). I need to somehow change the internal file name of each weight (this is sometimes labelled as the "mac name," I think) so that all the weights are available for use. The problem is, I don't know how to change the internal names so that they adequately describe each weight. Does anybody know how to do this?
    Thanks.

Sorry, they are 30 separate OpenType fonts of the same family.
Are these part of the Adobe Font Folio? If so, what set is it? I can look at mine here and see if it behaves the same way. Also, what application are you using where you see the issue?
I have downloaded fontforge to see if I could change the internal names, but am not really sure how to go about it.
Assuming the names were indeed built incorrectly, a font editor is what you need. I use FontLab Studio, so I'm not sure how to go about it in FontForge.

  • Help using international fonts.

Would appreciate some guidance on this subject. If I want to create a document in any given application, and use different languages, how can that be accomplished?
I see many options in the International prefs, but would like a clue before cutting loose and blindly changing things. One scary thought is that I'd change to a language and not be able to understand how to change it back to English.

To input foreign languages you need to select the correct input method. After that the font normally takes care of itself. Input methods are activated in system prefs/international/input menu. Make sure you check the box for "show input menu in Finder" so you get the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen where you can change your keyboard easily. Some more detailed info is here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/mlingos9.html
If you have questions about how to do something in a specific language and app, just ask. Some apps cannot do all languages.

  • International Fonts Support

I have installed JDeveloper 3.0 on a Win2000 Proffesional edition with Arabic Language support.
However when I try to design a form in JDeveloper IDE and use Arabic characters, which is supported by the JDK according to the documentation, as labels or in text fields from the database I get strange symbols displayed on the form but proper text in the source code.
Can anybody tell me how I can get proper arabic characters displayed on the form?

    Rasheed,
Some of the problems you are seeing may be due to the fact that JDeveloper 3.0 is only certified on Windows NT.
Labels and buttons should work. Text fields are not supported until JDK 1.3.
You mention 'strange symbols'. The cause of the problem depends on what these 'strange symbols' are:
a small square indicates a problem with the fonts
a question mark ? indicates a character set conversion problem
latin-looking characters (o's with umlats, etc.) are probably due to JDeveloper running on the wrong operating system
I would check out the Javasoft website for more information (www.javasoft.com). They have tutorials for internationalization, and the specs for the specific versions will tell you what is supported.

  • Internal unicode fallback font?

I really tried to figure this one out by myself, but…
Firefox displays exceptional unicode characters in a specific, seemingly internal font. Here’s an example, both glyphs are taken from unicode block “Miscellaneous Symbols”:
    ☠ (SKULL AND CROSSBONES, 9760)
    ☃ (SNOWMAN, 9731)
Go ahead and open this page in another browser, perhaps a pre-installed Internet Explorer. This is a rendering taken from my machines: http://i48.tinypic.com/e0ipes_th.png
I tried out all my fonts (some of them really, really unicode-supporting) with these glyphs and others, and none of them were an exact match. It doesn't matter what font-family is set in CSS. Firefox overrides the missing glyphs. You can’t inspect the calculated font-family when omitting it.
I didn't find anything when searching, since this is not a problem like “Firefox not rendering unicode font correctly”, but the opposite.
What’s the solution? What’s the name of this mystical font and where do I find it?

I never thought of a simple addon, extending the page information. With a process of elimination, I figured out it was Segoe UI Symbol. Thank you very much!

  • How to find font in Indesign, which is in Windows Font Folder?

    Hi
I need to use Monotype Sorts font.
This font was not in the Indesign list of fonts.
I bought the font and downloaded it to a file on my hard drive.
    It is called Monotype_sorts.ttf
I then went to Windows Font Folder in Cpanel and installed it.
I then followed advice I found on the web and copied the font to the Adobe/Indesign CS5/ Fonts folder.
However I still can't see the font within Indesign in order to use it.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I need to try and work this out very quickly.
    I'm on Windows Vista.
    Many thanks liz

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
... I then went to Windows Font Folder in Cpanel and installed it.
I then followed advice I found on the web and copied the font to the Adobe/Indesign CS5/ Fonts folder.
That was some bad advice you got there. Indesign is fully able to use all of your installed fonts -- the ones in Windows. Only a very few specialized types of fonts that cannot be installed in Windows need to go into ID's "private" Fonts folder. (And another reason would be you want to keep your Windows system 'clean'.)
The problem may very well be that InDesign now sees two versions of the same font, and refuses to let you select either, just to make things not too complicated. So delete the font in one of your locations.
If that doesn't work either, read this thread on how to reset InDesign's internal font database:

  • Indesign CS 3 and Palatino Fonts

    Hi NG,
we have got the following problem :
We had got a template with Palatino fonts in it. We already have the fonts
installed and all is fine. But when we start the template we get an error
that Indesign could not find the Font. We have tried the following things :
    - Reinstall the Fonts with the windows built in fontinstaller
    - Indesign CS3 update
    - renamed the files
    - Reinstall the Fonts with the ATM 4.1 (light)
    - copied the Fonts to the Indesign Fonts folder
    - Install the MissingFonts Plugin with Fontsexpert 2009 from Proxima
We dont know how to get this work. Hope we get some help here:)
    regards
    Matthias

First, remove all copies of the fonts in all locations. You mention quite a lot; be sure to check them all. ID can't handle same fonts in different locations.
    >renamed the files...
ID doesn't use file names for fonts. It reads the entire font file and uses the font name therein, and you cannot (easily and/or legally) change that.
    > ATM 4.1 (light) ... MissingFonts Plugin ...
ID has had issues with ATM and with other 'smart' font managers. Remove all of them, I say. If you get your fonts to work without, you can try installing them again.
    >copied the Fonts to the Indesign Fonts folder...
Yes, that is one of the locations you should clear. If the font worked under Windows -- and it is in the Windows Font folder -- it will work with ID.
Font managers seem to cause more trouble than good. I wouldn't know, I never used one. On the other hand, I did have trouble with
    i duplicate
fonts -- different file names but the same internal font names, or the same file names but different fonts and in different locations. Use the Find Font command to double- and triple-check if ID is using the actual file
    i you think
    it is using.

  • Missing / Damaged Font? Safari Look Up

When I use Look Up to search for an address in Safari I get a window with the familiar Block A's, indicating that a font is missing. See image below:
I moved the fonts which were installed by Yosemite in the folder ~ Library / Fonts to the folder where I store my fonts as I don't need most of them. I made them available through FontExplorer v4.2.1. That way I can enable/disable fonts more effectively. I tried enabling the fonts one by one but to no avail.
I want to have a compact font list in the apps I use (Adobe CS6) — I don't need Chinese or other international fonts.
Does anyone have a clue about what font is missing?

It could be some corrupt preferences file. Create a new account and see if you have the sme problem there.

  • Adope acrobat 9 - font problem

Hallo all of you out there.
I get this error when trying to edit a pdf document using adope acrobat 9.
I use the Touchup tool, mark the text and when trying to delete or write anything i get the error below (dropbox link, Danish)
    Dropbox - adope acrobat.JPG
In english the error messange says something like:
"all or part of the marked text does not have any available system font. You can not add or delete with the selected font.
I have tried to seach on different forums, but without luck.
I really hope i can help me.
Have a nice day all of you!

Sometimes you can select the text with the text-edit tool and select properties (right mouse button) to change the font to something on your system. It might work, but even if it does it is not a very useful solution if you have a lot of stuff to deal with. Sometimes it will not work because the PDF font and your system fonts are not compatible. I recently tried this with a ClearScan OCR and it was a pain. The problem with ClearScan is that it creates an internal font to try to emulate what is seen as closely as possible and no option is given to use a system font -- in my case, I simply used a searchable PDF OCR (gets big!) and could save to WORD because the hidden font is a system font.

  • Example font subset with non-unicode output

    Hi,
I am searching for an example to use a TTF Font as font subset in PDF but without UTF16 encoding.
    Is this even possible?
    Something similar to
    7 0 obj
    <</Type /Font /Subtype /Type0 /BaseFont /AAAAAD+Arial/Encoding /Identity-H /DescendantFonts [9 0 R] /ToUnicode 8 0 R >>
    9 0 obj
    <</Type /Font /Subtype /CIDFontType2 /BaseFont /AAAAAD+Arial /CIDSystemInfo << /Registry (Adobe) /Ordering (Identity) /Supplement 0 >> /FontDescriptor 11 0 R /W [...
But how does the rest should look like?
    Thank you in advanced

No, this is proceeding from wrong assumptions.
For all single byte fonts, EVERY PDF contruction deals with 256 values, range 0 to 255.
Let's look at what you say. You mention two Unicode values, and you continue to think that Unicode has some importance or meaning in PDF. No, it doesn't. Perhaps your characters are U+0021 and U+FEFC but the PDF does not care, and nor should you (when writing the PDF). I emphasise: if you are thinking "I will put this Unicode value somewhere in the PDF" and you are dealing with page streams/fonts, you are almost certainly not following the spec.
For a single byte font the mapping from the arbitrary codes in the PDF to the internal font structures has one and only one variable: the Encoding value. The Encoding value, if present (and the situations in which it can be omitted are specific and exact), is a shorthand representation for something which will always be an array of 256 names.
Since TrueType fonts don't contain names, the interpretation of this is complicated for embedded TrueType, and you must take care to follow exactly what the spec says. Other things MAY SOMETIMES WORK without being valid, but will probably fail in different software, so stick to the spec exactly.
There is no substitute for endless, deep and repetitive study of the PDF Reference. It will help if you can phrase your future questions in terms of "what does it mean in the specification when it says...". That will help keep you focussed. I have been working with the PDF specification for many, many years and I have found that whenever I assume anything, I am almost always wrong. Read the spec first, second and last.
FInally, don't be discouraged if you find this hard. Font embedding IS one of the very hardest things to master about PDFs, easily adding an order of magnitude of complexity to any project.

  • Bad Font-Measuring Performance under Windows 8.1

Why does the following little loop (in c#) perform so bad using current version of WPF (.NET 4.5.2) if i change the font-family from "Segoe UI" to "Arial" (or something else...tried "Times New Roman" and "Courier New"
    - Same problem)?
    var tb = new TextBlock {Text = "Testtext", FontFamily = new FontFamily("Arial")};
    for(int i = 0; i < 100000; i++)
    tb.InvalidateMeasure();
    tb.Measure(new Size(double.MaxValue, double.MaxValue));
With font-family set to Arial this block of code takes about 7.6s on my machine. Font-family set to "Segoe UI" takes about 1.9s. Why do (most) other fonts than Segoe UI perform so bad during measurement? Is there any tweak around, that does avoid
    this enormous loss in performance?
As i found found out, "Tahoma", "Lucida Sans" and "Microsoft Sans Serif" are being measured really fast, also. Is this some "System-internal font"-thing?
Yes, i know, this is really constructed and broken down to a minimal reproducable example. The whole component is a custom datagrid with complex ui- and data-virtualization - much too big to post here. If i set the font of my
grid to, let's say "Arial", the scrolling-performance gets really bad. Using Visual Studio's Profiler i tracked the problem down to the measurement of my single grid-cells, which basically measure single textblocks and so i wrote the little test-code
above. Please keep in mind: My problem is NOT, that the code above is slow. (I know, this loop is totally senseless...it's for demonstration purposes only) My problem IS, that changing the font impacts measurement in such an enormous amount...
What is the difference between fonts like "Segoe UI", "Tahoma", "Lucida Sans" or "Microsoft Sans Serif" and fonts like "Arial", "Times New Roman" or "Courier New" that causes this huge
    impact in measurement?
Btw.: This problem not only arises within my own grid component, it can also be reproduced with WPF's internal datagrid. Scrolling performance degrades dramatically when using "Arial" as the font-family.

    Hi Max
I realise that WPF doesn't use Win32, but I suspected something similar (i.e. the font is being loaded and unloaded everytime a measure takes place rather than using a cached font). I just looked up TextBlock in ILSpy and can see a MeasureOverride method
which does quite a lot of work with the font before using it to measure text and then discards all of this information when it's finished. That's obviously where the bottleneck is. I don't program in WPF so I have no idea how to fix it.
protected sealed override Size MeasureOverride(Size constraint)
    this.VerifyReentrancy();
    this._textBlockCache = null;
    this.EnsureTextBlockCache();
Follow the path of EnsureTextBlockCache() to see how much information is being processed and then dumped every time a measure operation is processed.
