International Service in Zimbabwe and South Africa IPhone 6?

In a few months I will be traveling to Zimbabwe and South Africa. What are my service options for wireless calls, texts, data and Internet access?

AGAIN you are not even using verizon service when you are in another country so what difference would it make if you have a sprint phone or a verizon phone?  AGAIN I know plenty of people who have had great expierence over seas.

  • Subscriptions for Ghana and South Africa

I want to buy a yearly subscriptions (hoping to receive the 15% discount) to make calls to both Ghana and South Africa. Most of the calls will be made to mobile phones, also. Is this possible? And if so, how much would it cost and how do I go about doing this?

    Hi Michael
The 'review and submit' is on Apple's side.  According to the status subscribtion Apple is supposed to review the detail I gave them.
I also got an e mail when I applied for this license that once my details have been successfully reviewed, I will receive an e mail with futher instruction to complete my enrollment for a license. This was all about three weeks back.

  • South Africa - iPhone 4s - Verizon

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to turn off push notification capabilities to avoid int'l data roaming while traveling in South Africa?  I want to leave my phone active, but do not want my e-mail or apps to automatically update data and avoid HUGE International roaming charges.  I know I have the option of putting the phone in "Airplane Mode", but I wanted to randomly gain access to my emails, voice calls and Text messages.

No. You're fully capable of using google. Or looking at the verizon.com web site to find one.

  • FaceTime and imessage not working in South Africa

Help! I'm in South Africa for a month and my iMessage and  FaceTime aren't working. When I try to imessage someone, the message says "turn off airplane mode or use wifi to send and receive messages" but i have full wifi strength. When I try to FaceTime, it says to check the number, it might not be complete. I've tried calling the number as usual, then the international number to ca from South Africa to the US.
I have an iPhone 5s, My email is working fine. My phone is on airplane mode but I have full wifi strength. My date and time is set automatically to Cape Town. Please someone help me figure out why this isn't working! I can't find any other solutions on the internet. Thank you!

    backup the device with itunes.
Restore the device with itunes and set up as new.
Sign into the facetime and imessage to activate it.
After that is done and activation is good.
    Restore from the backup.
Then make sure to sign into facetime and imessage again and you should be good to go

  • Apple update server in South Africa

To my understanding, Software Update contacts the international server, and then redirects the connection to a nearer update server (in South Africa) when downloading. If the international update server index file is at "swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/index-1.sucatalog", does anyone perhaps know the South African address? (or Where could I find it? or Who should I ask?)
We have very limited bandwidth in South Africa, and my blended (international and local) internet cap runs dry very quickly. I then have access to local cap that I would like to use to update OSX.

I just checked the list of countries at the bottom of the iTunes store home page and South Africa is listed. It is only an App Store (no music and videos).
Be sure you have the latest iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) and try again.

  • N9- Is it arriving in South Africa or not?

    Hey,
Is the Nokia N9 going to be available to the South African market. If so the when can we expact it's arrival? I tried checking on that link of release dates but my country is not listed there.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If your country is not on the drop own list, then it probably means no, or at least there are no plans at the moment. Having said that, I'm sure some will be arriving in India, USA and South Africa via eBay and other means of distribution if people really want them.

  • South Africa repairs and Service non Existenent

I got an iphone as a gift from my mother. i stay in south africa and my parents in China. The phone has been giving problems as it turns off all the time even with full battery. The only time it does not turn off is when it is plugged in to charge. I went to the istore in south africa (menlyn, pretoria) and they without even looking at the phone said they wont help me as the phone was not purchased in south africa. According to me apple is such a global brand that it should not matter where the phone was bought. Wo can i now contact regarding the phone?

now next question can aaple not repair it outside of the warrenty i.e i am willing to pay for repairs so there technitions can do it.
No. Apple does not repair iPhones, they replace them, and service centers cannot stock iPhones in all models for all the many different carriers in the different counties. That's why service is restricted to the country in which the iPhone is originally sold. If you can't send the iPhone back to China, you'll have to go the third-party route. Note that having your iPhone serviced by any authorized shop will void any further support from Apple, even if you were to send the iPhone back to China. Just FYI so you're aware.
    Regards.

  • I want to buy Iphone 4S or Iphone 5 from USA and ship it to South Africa, will i have carrier problems?

I want to buy Iphone 4S or Iphone 5 from USA and ship it to South Africa, will i have carrier problems?

If you buy a phone from Apple online from USA you must have a credit card with a US address and have it shipped to that same address. If you chose a carrier it will be locked to that carrier. You must buy an UNLOCKED phone to use outside of the US, for the unsubsidized price. For unlocked phones you don't need to choose a carrier. the iPhone 5 is not yet available unlocked; only the 4S is sold as unlocked by Apple.
If you buy from the US Apple site you must return it to the US for warranty service.
LTE is the "next generation" cellular network standard. It is supported in the US by Verizon and AT&T.

  • Every time I try to download and app to my iPhone, it tells me that I need to change to South African App Store. I live in South Africa and have purchased apps before, what has changed ?

When purchasing an app on my iPhone, it says I must first change from the US App Store to South Africa, I live in South Africa and have downloaded several apps before without any problem. What has changed ?

    Hi HayCam,
Sounds like you accidently got changed to another store....
So, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, and click on your AppleID at the top. Then click on View account, sign in, and then click on Country/Region, and follow the instructions to change your store to South Africa.
That should take care of it!
    Cheers,

  • Hi there - I have an iPhone 4s which I bought from the apple store here in the UK. I am going to South Africa at the end of the year and I want to use a SA sim card - do I need it unlocked?

Hi there - I have an iPhone 4s which I bought from the apple store here in the UK. I am going to South Africa at the end of the year and I want to use a SA sim card - do I need it unlocked?

    Hi,
As far as I know, all the iPhones bought online or in the Apple Store ar unlocked.
Only carriers (e.g. T-mobile, Vodafone, O2) are able to lock a phone, Apple won't do that (afaik).
This would mean that you shouldn't need to unlock your iPhone.
    Kind regards,

  • When will iphone 5 be available in South africa? Month and half since keynote.

When will iphone 5 be available in South africa? Month and half since keynote.

Then go with Samsung... we're all users here like yourself and do not care what you choose.
We have no way of knowing when or if the device will be released in a specific country until Apple announces it.
Deal with it... or grow up and act like an adult.
Getting all huffy because Apple has not made an announcement yet is frankly stupid.

  • Can I buy an iPhone 5/5s in America and use in South Africa

  • Just got to South Africa and have no service although I purchased an add on?

When I got to South Africa and realised I didn't have any service, I purchased a roaming '30 mins anywhere non EU' add on. However I still don't have service?
    Please can someone help!
    Thanks so much in advance!

Buying a bundle doesn't mean that your device will work aborad you need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account.
If you have a EE extra plan you still need to make sure roaming is enable on your account your plan only gives you free/cheaper calls when abroad.
If your wanting to enable roaming on your account there could be a deposit to pay if you haven't had the device for about 6 months.
Unless you have paid the deposit then roaming is not enabled on your account.
You need to activate roaming on your account by calling 150 from your device or from a landline 01707 315000 before you leave the UK.
But you still might be able todo this if you are abroad.
From the home page of your account go to "Plan and add-ons>Manage this device>>Usage Controls> and select Allow on call abroad and premium rate, If the option is not there you need to call
It can take 24 hours to activate
If you had this device/contract for under 6 months you need to call customer services on +44 7953 966250 from a landline.
Once you have activated roaming you can then use this link to see what cost there is and what bundles you can have.
    http://explore.ee.co.uk/roaming/ee
    Please read this about voicemail

    And this

Also sending a text to 150 with the words of RO country your going to i.e. RO Spain will get you a reply of what the costs will be from that country.

  • International travel to South Africa and iPad charging

I am traveling to South Africa and will need to charge my iPad. The camps I will be traveling to have generator power at times...I have the charging kit for international adaptors, will that work or will the generator power fry my iPad? I just want to make sure I burn up my machine.

And there is no need to buy the Apple cable to plug in to the SA sockets, or even an expensive travel adaptor. Search around in the travel shops and electrical shops (and in Australia the AA travel sections) and c$3 or equivalent gets you a simple and unobtrusive adaptor - some travel adaptors are pretty big. This will work round the world and keeps your costs down for the important things, beer and pizza. It also seems that buying them at home before you leave costs you more, but finding them abroad is a little trickier. For me, UK to US, Canada, Singapore, round Europe and Oz it worked fine.
