International Unlocked iPhone 6 A1586 for Verizon or AT&T

Hi guys,
This is the case:
I am about to purchase an iPhone 6 in China (Model A1586 CDMA Version). This phone supports all bands of 2G/3G/LTE that the US Versions (A1549 CDMA Version and A1459 GSM Version) support, according to http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.
So, theoratically, it should work with both Verizon & AT&T.
However, still according to http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/, this model A1586 does not have AT&T or Verizon in its "Supported LTE Networks" section. Only Sprint is there. On the other hand, it does support the Chinese carriers with CDMA/LTE (counterpart of Verizon) and with WCDMA/LTE (counterpart of AT&T) according to http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.
So my question is:
Simply: Can I use the iPhone 6 A1586 purchased in China under Verizon or AT&T when I come to the United States?
Theoratically: Why does A1586 supports all the bands technically but does not have Verizon & AT&T in its "Supported LTE Networks" section?
Some additional info:
I know that A1586 is also sold in the United States and is locked with Sprint. That is the reason that it does not work with AT&T/Verizon, but I do not know if that is the only reason.
The A1586 sold in China obviously need not to have a Sprint lock on it. So if the Sprint lock is the only reason, then I guess I can use the iPhone under AT&T or Verizon.
P.s.:
Do not worry on locks. The Chinese laws prohibits phones to be locked with any carriers.
Do not worry on warranty. I know I can only repair the phone in the country I buy it. But I have to travel frequently between US and Asia.

Verizon won't activate phones not sold for use on on Verizon's network. I've heard reports that, if you have a Verizon SIM that's already active, you might be able to use the non-Verizon phone. However, I wouldn't count on it.

  • I bought unlocked iPhone 6(A1586, MG6J2LL/A). It is for sprint. I am currently AT

I bought unlocked iPhone 6(A1586, MG6J2LL/A). It is for sprint. I am currently AT&T user. My new iPhone6 does not recognize my AT&T SIM card. Does it mean the iPhone6 is still locked. Can I use this iPhone6 in China?

Well, of course this new iPhone will not recognise an AT&T sim card in it - you purchased a Sprint phone which is a CDMA carrier and AT&T is a GSM carrier, so no, you CANNOT use a Sprint phone in the US with AT&T.  The 2 are not compatible and if you had wanted to use AT&T as your carrier, then you should have purchased an unlocked GSM phone and NOT a CDMA phone, which Sprint is.
Yes, the phone is unlocked, but it is the GSM portion and sim card tray that is unlocked for international use, so yes, you should be able to use the phone in China with a local Chinese sim card.
You can use the phone in China, but you will NOT be able to use s Spring CDMA phone in the USA with AT&T because they are a GSM carrier, so that is why an AT&T sim card is not recognised in a Sprint phone because the 2 are not compatible.
Perhaps you should have checked more closely when you were buying the phone that you were in fact purchasing the correct model?  Verizon and Sprint are both CDMA carriers, with AT&T and T-Mobile being GSM carrier.  Check before you buy next time so that you make sure that you buy the right phone.

  • Is it possible to bring a non-Verizon unlock iPhone 5 to the Verizon network?

Is it possible to bring a non-Verizon unlock iPhone 5 to the Verizon network?
I spent over an hour and a half talking and/or waiting on Verizon customer service yesterday and another 52 minutes today.  At the end of all that, Verizon's representative told me that even though my iPhone 5 is unlocked, I can't bring it to the Verizon network.
During this time, I was told several times that my phone had to be added to the Verizon database.  Yesterday when I was told this, I was told it would take 30 to 60 minutes.  Today I was told that it might take two to three days but that even after the change to the database goes through, I still would not be able to use my phone on Verizon's network.

No not possible. Verizon doesn't import IMEIs into their database. Also the unlocked iPhone 5 does not have a CDMA radio so it wouldn't connect anyway.  You need to use a GSM carrier for that iPhone to work.

  • When the international unlocked iphone 5s will be released in boston ?

When the international unlocked iphone 5s will be released in boston ????

There is no such thing as "an international unlocked iPhone". The only 5s model sold in the US is the A1533. There is an unlocked version, which is the same as the t-mobile version.
Call the Apple store(s) in Boston. Nobody on this forum would know.

  • Is the Unlocked Iphone 5 available for sale in Seattle WA ? if there is where ?

Apple has made no announcement about an unlocked version of the iPhone 5 in the US.

  • When will the iphone be available for Verizon?

I know the iphone only currently works with At&t but does anyone know when it will be available for use on Verizon?

Then what was Job's announcement about a month ago that he was going to make it available for other networks in February?
Sorry but you misunderstood this announcement that you are referring to since it means nothing of the kind.
What Apple is releasing in February for the iPhone is an iPhone SDK which is short for Software Developers Kit for 3rd party software development for the iPhone.
This has nothing to do with the iPhone being available on other networks which can't occur for the next 5 years which is the length of Apple's contract with AT&T to be the exclusive provider for the iPhone in the U.S. Regardless, the iPhone is a GSM phone which means it can be used on GSM networks only. Not only is AT&T the largest network provider in the U.S. by the number of subscribers, they are the largest GSM network provider in the U.S. GSM networks dominate the overall worldwide market by a significant margin and even if Apple made the iPhone available for other network, the only other major GSM network provider in the U.S. is T-Mobile.
Verizon, Sprint and Alltel have a CDMA network and the iPhone is not compatible with such networks. This would require Apple producing a CDMA iPhone in addition to the current GSM iPhone which I don't believe is likely even after Apple's 5 year contract with AT&T expires.

  • Using unlocked iPhone 6 (T-Mobile) on Verizon?

I am attempting to purchase an iPhone for someone as a birthday gift. They have Verizon, and i have AT&T. I have read that if i purchase the unlocked (T-Mobile) version, i would simply insert my simcard into the new iPhone, and all should work correctly? Verizon has told me that the version for the iPhone they sell is A1522, which has both GSM and CDMA bands, so this makes sense. I was also told by a Verizon rep that i would simply need to go into a store and request a simcard, since the gift is for someone who currently uses and iPhone 4, and therefore has no sim card. It doesn't appear Apple is selling off contract iPhone 6s distinctively for Verizon, so i figure this is the next best work around?

Verizon won't activate non-Verizon iPhones even though they have the required CDMA hardware.  They have a list of Verizon iPhone serial numbers that the check when activating. There are reports that a non-Verizon iPhone will work on Verizon's network if you insert an active Verizon SIM, but some Apple specific features (e.g. iMessage, FaceTime. Visual VoiceMail) depend on the iPhone serial number, not the SIM, and may not work.  It won't help you anyway since the Verizon iPhone 4 has no SIM.

  • HT4528 I want to unlock Iphone 4s verizon

I want to unlock Iphone 4s which I don't know the carrier at times it show Verizon and sometimes vf nl 12.1.my IMEI is 990001067071464,MEID 99000106707146,serial number is C38GRYE5DTF9,at the back of the iPhone there FC which is for US and CE 0682 which is Europe.please help [email protected]

If Verizon is shown, the iPhone is carrier locked with Verizon. You need to contact Verizon in the U.S. to request the GSM portion of the iPhone to be unlocked. That is for Verizon customers in good standing only.

  • Unlocked iPhone 6 Plus in US

    Hi everyone,
I'm a mexican user of iPhones, and I really want to buy an iPhone 6 Plus in the US, because here, it's really expensive, about 1.5 times the US price, and that's the reason I want to know the price of an unlocked iPhone, without any contract or SIM from the US, because I couldn't use it in Mexico. Does Apple started selling unlocked iPhone 6 Plus? I'm going to the US on December, and I need to know if the Apple Store can sell me an unlocked iPhone.
Thanks for taking time reading this

It will work but it may not work on 4G/LTE. The warranty will not be valid as it is not international. You will have to return to the US for service.
Only the T-Mobile iPhone 6 Plus purchased from an Apple Store is unlocked.

I knew japan's carriers do not sell unlocked iPhone. (below url)
there are countries list of selling unlocked iPhone
    and there is not japan.

iPhone is available for purchase and activation through Apple, wireless carriers, and authorized resellers (not all options are available in all countries or locations). In most countries, the place of purchase will verify that you have an account with the carrier, and then give you instructions on how to activate your iPhone. Verification of carrier account is not required in countries in which unlocked iPhones are available for sale.
Apple Online Store sells unlocked iPhone in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium (French, Dutch),Brazil, Canada (English, French), China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong (English,Chinese), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (French, German), Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey,  United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.
Is it changed from iphone6? or same(I misunderstanding)?

On the Japanese Apple iPhone 6 buying page, there is a FAQ at the bottom with this question:
    http://store.apple.com/jp/buy-iphone/iphone6
The translation of this can be found on the same page for the UK page for instance (the US page is different):
    http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-iphone/iphone6
Can I use my iPhone outside my home country?
Yes. iPhone is enabled to work on networks using GSM around the world. Because the iPhone sold by the Apple Online Store is unlocked, you can purchase a SIM card and service from a local carrier at your destination. Or check with your home carrier regarding international roaming charges.
So, does this count as a reliable source?

  • Unlocked iPhone from T-Mobile does not work in Switzerland

I'm extremely annoyed. I bought myself a *so called unlocked* iPhone in Germany for 999 Euro and now it does not work with a Swiss SIM card. When I try to make calls via dialing or when i try to read text messages (sms) the phone and the sms application will crash. Calling the different helplines ends up in the same resutls: Apple care blames either Swisscom or T-Mobile, T-Mobile blames either Swisscom or Apple and Swisscom blames Apple or T-Mobile...
In the end however, I can't get rid of the feeling that the problem could be solved by a very simple software update, because I've seen hacker reports on the internet claiming they were able to solve the problem by changing a few settings. I don't want to be forced to hack my legally bought so called unlocked iPhone. *When will Apple set the "unlocked" iPhone really free?*

    Hi Pete,
welcome to the club! A you can see from this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1260589&tstart=0
you are not the only one. It seems as if the T-Mobile unlocked phones work with any German SIM card, but with non from not-Apple supported countries (like CH).
Apple support is aware of the problem, as many of us have called them and submitted bug reports, but it remains to be seen, if Apple is interested enough in "us" to provide a solution.

  • What's the deal with buying an unlocked iPhone?

I think I'm going to buy an unlocked iPhone.
That just means I don't have to deal with any contracts, right?
So then do I just walk into a Verizon/AT&T/Sprint store and buy a SIM card?
And, essentially, if I owned SIM cards from different carriers, I could switch between them, right?

    IMPORTANT FACT
There are secretly four different types of unlocked iPhones (Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint) based on where you bought it from, depends on how it will work. Only when purchased directly from Apple will you be able to use SIM cards from the United States if you want to use a small regional carrier. Also if you got an unlocked from Radioshack or Best Buy or something, the version counts as the carrier it comes with, not Apple, so a Verizon unlocked from Best Buy is a Verizon-type unlocked iPhone.

  • What steps do I need to take once Verizon unlocks my sim card for international use on another carrier

Hi, I am traveling to Romania in a few days. I called Verizon Global Support and had them unlocked my sim card for the 4s.
They told me there was some steps I had to take after they unlocked it and I will find these steps on the Apple website.
Well I cant find what they are talking about and my search on the internet is not giving what I want.
I see things about Sprint 4s and that u must connect your phone to Itunes to complete the unlock process is this the same for verizon ?
The Verizon Rep told me I will be able to use a Internation Sim but I had to connect my phone to a computer after replacing the International sim and go threw a whole process of Restoring and resetting my phone threw Itunes. Is there true ?  I dont not have a internation sim with me is there any other way to see if its unlock and how the process is ? Do i need to set my phone to only run on GSM when I get there or will the International sim automatically switch the band ?
I know its alot of question all at once but i just want to get to the point.
Thanks any help will be appericated

This is the only thing I could find but it does not answer my question or even what I was told by the Global Support Rep.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!
