International usage of iPad 1.

Can you use different country's SIM cards in the iPad 1 for cheaper data plans?

Also useful for editor navigation to dynamically called forms such as in ALV based reports.
Your code never has a PERFORM TOP_OF_PAGE_FORM statement for example.  putting this statement in inside an "IF 1  = 2.  ....  ENDIF. " pair means you can double click to drill down to the form, and also possibly the form does not show as unused in extended program check.  Also means where used on the form will find this perform which is useful if the form is in an include.
I know there are other methods to do all these, but is one possible use of the construct.

  • Why is it that it takes 48 hours to update my international usage?

As a subscriber to the 500 minutes Verizon World Plan I find the practice of updating of the usage 48 hours after the making of a call highly suspect. My choices here is either risk going over the limit unknowingly  - and being hit with an excessively high charge - or not using all of the minutes that I am paying for! If my bank handled my checking account in this manner, I am sure the government would shut them down.
Each time a call is made  - international or not - the number called and the duration of that call is recorded. Why is it that the international account is not immediately updated right after that call? CableVision international plan does it! I know there is absolutely no reason - other than one to sucker the consumer into either going over the limit or to not use all the allowed minutes - why this updating cannot be done. I worked in IT for more than 50 years - computer operator, computer programmer, system programmer, data base administrator, network specialist - explain to me what is the limitation in your system design that prevent the immediate updating of the international usage account.

Without having more specific information from you - and BTW - don't just repeat the question in the description area of your post - provide some details - here are a number of basic troubleshooting steps that you can try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If Safari is bogging down on you ....
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • International usage charges

I'm just a little confused about how international usage works. If you don't sign up for any kind of plan and take your iPhone (to say India, where I'll be headed), will the phone still work and if so, what charges will apply? I will be using the call and voicemail feature little to none and I won't be getting incoming calls, but what about text messaging and safari? How much will those cost me if I don't agree to any plans? Or will none of it work at all?

    Alice K,
You will want to enable International Roaming with AT&T before you leave to allow you to make/receive calls internationally. AT&T would be your best source for international charges for calls and text messages. You can read the following article for more information about international travel with your iPhone:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1686
International data charges can get fairly expensive. The new iPhone 2.0 software will enable you to turn airplane mode on (which disables cell networks, so you will not receive calls or use the cell data network) but also turn Wi-Fi on, so you can still access local Wi-Fi networks and hotspots. Therefore you can still browse on Safari when you are within range of a Wi-Fi network without being worried about data charges. In this mode, you will not receive calls or missed call notifications, however. You can find out more information about the iPhone 2.0 software by watching this guided tour:

    Hope this helps,

  • International Usage - WARNING - Outrageously expensive!

I bought a iPhone the day it was released, absolutely love it, and a week later went to Europe. The phone works great over there and so does EDGE, i.e just as slow as here..
Got home, received my first AT&T bill: THEY CHARGED ME $940 FOR INTERNATIONAL DATA ROAMING - TOTAL USAGE WAS 40MB.
I called AT&T and complained - I didn't recall the promo for "unlimited data" clearly excluded international - was told "they happen to have a $24.99/month international data plan for the iPhone with 20MB of data" - no unlimited data plan was available, even though you can get one if you have a 3G card for your laptop.
Also, while international roaming IT WILL COST YOU 50 CENTS PER SMS YOU SEND AND 15 CENTS TO RECEIVE ONE - NO PLAN IS AVAILABLE!
The end of my story was I got 20MB for $24.99 but I had to pay $470 for the other 20MB.......
So if you plan to use your iPhone internationally:
    - Tell everyone not to send you SMS's and don't send one yourself
    - Don't use Google Maps, Safari or Mail, unless in Wi-Fi zone
    - Alternatively get the 20MB plan
I can only conclude current AT&T policies is a total rip-off when it comes to international usage. Maybe it would be cheaper to get an account with the European carrier later this year. AT&T surely needs some competition.

I am sorry to say that I told everyone so (among others who did the same). The iPhone is NOT a good international device. I posted several comments on this. Be aware that it is not just downloading items yourself, Internet use or email/messaging. The iPhone has a serious operational deficiency in that constantly updates the weather, clock and stock Widgits throughout the day. Over a week or two this can add up to hundreds of KB and you have no control over this. (I bet at least 30% of your charges are foir this, Check your datalogs and look for weird data access times such as in the wee hours of the morning).

  • IP Reserved for Internal Usage?

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but what does the following LAN setting in a Router do/refer to?

    Hi Malcolm,
Networking address space for the IP protocol is broken into classes — A, B, and C. (There is also Class D for multicasting and Class E for a small set of very reserved,“don't ever touch these” addresses.) In each of the Class A and Class C spaces, there are address ranges reserved for internal, non-Internet use (or a non-Internet routing space for IP traffic). There are two ranges in the Class A space: the 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 range (also represented as 10.x.x.x) and the 172.0.0.0 to 172.255.255.255 range (172.x.x.x) You may be using one of these spaces in your networks for internal addresses assigned to various hosts (network devices).
    Hope to Help !!

I'm heading to Ireland in a couple weeks and would like to know about international usage.  Anybody know how I go about this?  I have AT&T.

FIRST you must have your phone account enabled for International roaming. You call them to do this. Then you add a voice roaming package, that reduces your call costs from $1.29/minute to $0.99 per minute. For data it's a little better.
I suggest adding the data roaming package, but when you get to Ireland go to any phone store and buy a cheap phone (~ £20) and a pay-as-you-go SIM and use it for voice calls. You can add and remove the data roaming package, however, it must remain on the phone for 1 billing cycle.
Almost forgot the link to roaming package options: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/affordable-world-package s.jsp#data

  • Ipad 3G International Usage

Hello everyone, i hoping to be an Ipad user in the near future and i have a question about the 3G. As a UK user... if i brought a 3G sim card and then went on holiday or anywhere other than the UK. Would i still remain connected to the 3G network or any other network other than wifi?

Some helpful information I have discovered while motorhoming and boating throughout the US & Canada.
traveling internet for my laptop / Iphone 3g and now Ipad 3g.
I purchased a virgin mobile mifi hotspot for $149.00 Radio Shack USA $40/Month unlimited usage, pay as you go (they now have changed to 5 Gigs at full speed, and slow you down if you exceed 5 GB in the current month).
A small external device that allows up to 5 connections within a 40 foot range.
Charge it up and it is good for 8 hrs standby and 4 hours usage.
When I travel in Canada, I switch to my rogers mifi hardware and get similar rates for travel in Canada. (I don't know if Rogers offer pay as you go)
I am now conflicted on buying a 3g ipad or non 3g and simply continue with the usage of my virgin and rogers mifi's.
I may travel abroad and neither my virgin mifi or rogers mifi (rogers has a roaming agreement with ATT USA, very expensive tho) will not work and therefore am in the same predicament as you should I travel to Mexico, the Bahamas or England.
    Now for my question....
Can I buy a mifi device that allows me to switch sim cards to the respective countries and buy local time? rather than possibly paying $150 for each piece of hardware.
    Thanks,

I suggest you tell us more specifics:
Which model iPad do you have?
How much storage does it have?
How much free space does it have (Settings > General > Usage)?
Does it have a lot of apps?  Movies?  Music?
Which version of iOS is it running?
What type of computer do you have?
What operating system is the computer using?
When exactly does the message appear?
What exactly does the message say?

  • Unable to check usage on iPad  (Settings General Usage)

    Hello,
My iPad mini won't allow me to check how much space I have left but I was notified (forgot how) that there was not much space left.
I originally thought that it kept crashing because my iPad wasn't updated to the latest version so I downloaded it and it still didn't solve the problem.
Every time I go to settings > General > usage I instantly crash and go back to the home screen.   I don't really know what other information to give :\ .
I'm thinking maybe a hard reset would fix the problem but I'm not really sure how to back up everything that's already on my iPad since it's greater than the storage given for iCloud.  (Not really sure how to back up in  general)
So, if maybe a hard reset it the way to go -- could someone maybe lead me in the direction of how to hard reset and get all my apps back easily?  (Instead of writing everything down and searching them up and downloading later?)
    Thank you :).

    Hi AmishCake,
Unfortunately, this method didn't work.    My photos and videos take up practically no space as I only have around 15 photos and no videos but I will move them onto the computer.
Any other suggestions for the usage problem?

  • International usage need Help

How can I Disable/Enable EDGE? Since I'll travelling abroad I don't want to get screwed by AT&T. I've just learnt that their international charges are 2.49/min for the country I'll be visiting and that doesn't include EDGE usage.
I'm posting this question coz AT&T didn't really offer much help and gave me the facts listed below; to use EDGE u have 3 options.
    1. 2c/Kb
    2. 24.99/Monthly with 20Mb limit
    3. 59.99/monthly with 50Mb Limit.
    Thanks for the help

    vbeachcomber,
In addition to the suggestion to turn off data roaming, if you are still concerned about it you could enable a SIM pin. A SIM pin would also require entering in the SIM pin before making voice calls.
If you continue to be concerned about it, which I don't see a technical need for but can understand, you could remove the SIM card.
    Hope this help,s
    Nathan C.

  • We have received charges of £350 for data usage on ipad which is not possible as ipad constantly connected to wifi. What is going on???

We have recently received a bill of £350 from our Orange, our mobile phone provider. These charges are apparently for ipad usage which is impossible as the ipad is constantly connected to the wifi in the house. The ipad never leaves the house as it is only ever used by my special needs child. Orange are arguing about this bill and have now reduced it to £50 but we are fighing this charge too! Can someone help? Advice needed!

Make sure that Cellular is OFF. Go to Settings>Cellular Data>OFF

  • International Data for iPad 2

I want to buy an iPad 2 with 3G on the Verizon network.  However, I will be using it internationally for some parts of the year. I need to know if I will be able to get an international plan for the iPad, and how this works with it being a pre-paid device. I know that the iPad works on the CDMA network, and this will limit me when it comes to international partners that the iPad will  work on. I've tried to find international coverage maps showing where Verizon has partners, but have had no luck. I'll be using the device in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, as well as France. Where can I find more information about what the plans cost, how I sign up for one, and where the device will work ? I really need UMTS speeds when traveling as well, as this will be my primary internet connection.
Thank you for your time, and all help is appreciated !

    Hi rct123,
I appreciate you interest in our International Services.  You are correct the iPad 2 operates on CDMA technology.  The iPad2 will work in  Canada because it's a CDMA country.  However, France in A GSM country and the iPad will not work with our roaming partners. I have included a link which details the Canada Global Data Plan.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  You can PM me your number if you would like to add to the Global Plan.
Thank you for your contribution to our community forums,
