nix the w's - my n95 renders the site just fine but the www in front of the real address makes the site unreachable (like trying to goto [http://www.www.www.www.google.com] - adding www. or adsf., etc in front of the address makes the address invalid.

N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

  • Connecting to the internet via PC Suite / N95 8GB ...

I'm struggling to connect to the internet via PC Suite (v7.1.30.9), using Vista Ultimate SP2, repeatedly getting the error "Failed to connect to the network! One touch access could not connect to the selected device". I've tried different cables, checked for PC Suite updates, updated the phone's software, etc, but all to no avail. (I am able to connect immediately using my N80, so the problem seems to be on the N95 8GB). The rest of the PC Suite connection seems fine. Can anyone help me?

I found a situation where your error message appears. It is the case when the nokia is connected using the data transfer mode and simultaneously the OneTouch Application is started. Then the device is not recognized by the modem software. The PC Suite mode is required for the OneTouch Application.
In my situation I think I already saw all of the possible error messages described in the documentation during the various experiments.
For example I tried to uninstall and reinstall the cable drivers. Unfortunately the driver page of N95 8GB does not include them only the page of N95. This was a step towards success - what concerns the OneTouch Application.
Sometimes it is useful to switch off and on the phone, specially when it is not possible to connect with the modem driver.
In my opinion the possibility of completly uninstalling the Nokia Suite is missing. You can uninstall all parts but after reinstallation the Nokia Phone Browser is no more available, the icon is not displayed. All the software packages are working fine even the modem drivers but not the Phone Browser.

  • Internet Connection thru USB /N95 8GB

I have just got the N95 8GB and loaded the software etc. It will not connect to the internet, error msg says no modem detected.
I had a similar problem with the previous N95 in the months leading up to my upgrade. After using it to connect to the net many times it failed to work and said no modem detected.

When you've connected your usb cable & phone, go to device manager of XP/Vista & check if there is Nokia modem installed or its yellow or red. From there you'll know if the nokia moden driver is properly installed. When you click it will tell working properly. You might have MS OS problem, try it in other PC/Laptop.

  • Nokia N95 8gb Internet Explorer problem!

Hi all! I have nokia n95 8gb and let one of my friends use it to surf the net. Now when I try to work on the internet explorer, the connection keeps dropping off. I have checked and it's not my router which is the cause of it. Unfortunately my firewall and antivirus protection was not on while I gave my friend my phone to use. I have scanned the phone and nothing is coming up in the antivirus scan. There seems to be this message that comes up every so often when I am working on internet explorer and it's as following:
    "/c:/system/dmgr/1008d39/contents/st.."
I am afraid there might be some malicious file that got downloaded onto my phone. Not too sure as to what is happening. If anyone has experienced a similar problem or can help me with this problem then I would really appreciate the help.

So I have been going through my history to find out what pages were opened that day and found out that the file 'st' is automatically downloading only when I open any livejournal page and then it diverts to the '\c:\system\dmgr\...' message. I have downloaded and run the KMS antivirus software but it doesn't pick anything up. All other websites that I visit are fine but when I open livejournal the 'st' file automatically starts downloading and then diverts to the page along with disconnecting from the WLAN.
I have downloaded the y-browser and deleted the respective file from c drive but everytime I try to access livejournal, that file starts up again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I should try to deal with this? I would really appreciate the help. Cheers!

  • N95 8GB Internet Calling

    Hi,
I had purchased my N95 8Gb from Vodafone on a contract and got this debranded from them as well.
I wanted to use the Internet Calling function of this phone however it was locked by my operator, which on calling them was said to me that once I update my phone same would be available.
I have updated my Phone Software using NSU and the revised version is 11.0.26 but I still dont have Internet Call as a option in connection manager.
    Any help?
    Regards
    Dinesh

I'm afraid that your phone is still Vodafone branded, and it is therefore impossible for you to use Internet Calling.
If it was debranded then v15 firmware would be available to you.

  • How to set up email access on N95 8GB?

    Hi
    I have an N95 8GB.
I have recently added a data bolt on for accessing work email from my phone and would like to receive a text/message when I receive a new email.
Problem is I can't find any information on how to set this up.
    This link looked perfect:
    http://www.knowyourmobile.com/nokia/nokian95/nokian95internet/2533/setting_up_email_on_the_nokia_n95...
but  following it through on my phone doesn't come up with the same options etc.
So far I have gone to 'messaging', selected 'change me', then - Options - Email Settings - Connection Settings - Incoming e-mail.
    Here I am stuck.
Is my username my email address?
Is my password my email account password?
What is my incoming mail server?
What is my access point in use?
What setting should security ports be on?
The settings also say that I cannot have email notifications and email retrieval together. What does this mean?
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can help.
    Thank you

Hi, I'm a newbie at this, so pls be patient with my terminology...  I want to install 2 or 3 of these cameras in my mother's home, and I will have AT&T DSL service (one dynamic IP address) there with only a modem/wireless router.  I want to access the cameras from my laptop or from my Blackberry Tour when I am traveling.  Also want to allow access for my other relatives.  I do not have another home computer to serve as a WHS, and my laptop is obviously not connected to the internet all of the time.  Can I use the DDNS setup with DynDNS to provide access?  The instructions that I read seemed to imply that I needed a WHS in order to forward ports, etc.  Thanks in advance for your help.. • Cannot Get Maps 2.0 to work on my N95 8GB

Hi there everyone! Just a quick one..
Ive got a N95 8GB, i recently updated to Nokia Maps 2.0 using PC Suite etc..
It all works and i can move around and search for addresses so i THINK I am connected to a sattelite!
Only thing is, my position is wrong, on my mates phone it follows him where he goes where mine stays stationary??
Also I want to enable voice guidance etc but i cannot figure it out. I have gone to extras and drive + walk but even if i pick Vodafone Internet or a WLAN network it says failed...
Anyone have any ideas on ways to get around this or 3rd party applications that have voice guidance and WORK lol
    Thanks in advance!
Message Edited by raha_ang on 15-Oct-2008 04:45 AM

    Hi raha_ang
Unfortunately I didn't pick up on Walk & Drive which is a Vodaphone specific application and you would have to contact them regarding issues. I know that there have been problems on N96 where it say "update available" yet connection cannot be made.
In an "unbranded" N95 8GB you would find if you go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalization - now scroll down to bottom of screen and below "Factory settings" there is "Positioning" - in "Positioning methods" there should be a red tick beside Assisted GPS, Integrated GPS and Network based.
In "Positioning server" the server address = supl.nokia.com
Please check in "Positioning methods" that "Bluetooth GPS" is not enabled and "Integrated GPS" is enabled (Red tick)

  • N95 8gb - Browsing WAP in other countries

    Hi,
I have a Nokia N95 8gb thru Vodafone UK which was unlocked at the time of purchase.
I browse the internet no problems in the UK. When I have travelled to other EU countries (Ireland, Greece) I can make and receive calls with no issues using a pre-paid card however have not been able to browse the internet.
I went into a Vodafone Ireland store to enquire about this. They SMS me the settings I need to load into my phone which I did however it still would not browse the internet when it should have. I went back to Vodafone Ireland and they then stated I need to download some software from the Nokia site to enable my phone to browse the internet internationally.
Have looked at the Nokia website under N95 8gb however can not see anything specific to my issue or any software that I can download to resolve.
Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Vodafone are talking rubbish. There is no software that will allow you to browse internationally.
They are just trying to fob you off.
It is their responsibility to set you up for international browsing. Give them a call as the people at the store are just sales people with very little knowledge.

  • Copy contacts between PC and Nokia N95 8GB without...

    Hello...
    I have Nokia N95 8GB.
I have 300 contacts stored on my PC from previous phone which was Nokia N90. What I want to do is to copy my contacts from my PC to my Nokia. But without PC Suite, without any synchro, just to copy them like in windows explorer, copy folder and paste folder.
Is this possible? I mean, I can do this, but don't know where to place them inside Nokia folder tree - I want them to be visible inside address book...
    Thanx!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am not sure this will resolve your problem but you could try with this.
    1. Remove Previous phone plugins from Library/phone plugins (If any files are there)
    2. Delete files from User/Library/caches/
    3. Remove chaches from System/library/chaches
    4. Download and install iSync plugin from Nokia website
Make sure you have installed all available updates from Apple using Software Update and your phone firmware is updated.
Are you getting any specific error messages?

The discussion boards are a user-to-user troubleshooting forum, if you require direct support from Nokia staff you need to contact Nokia by telephone or e-mail, contact details can be found on the Nokia web site for your country or region.
It should be pointed out, however, that schedules of update releases are not published in advance.
In some cases, updates may be available at Care Points before they are available on NSU, so if you have particular need to update sooner it is worth checking with your local care point.

    Hi Nick,
Not certain what is causing the problem, but I do know that your phone needs to download maps, so you should connect using GPRS or Wifi to download the maps and then you should have maps for your locality, but you will need to connect again if you move outside of the locality. The best advise I would say is to get an internet add on for your phone so you won't be charged extra.
you may be able to download maps and load them on also. You may also need to turn off the network assisted GPS so you are only using the built in GPS not the internet to find where you are.
    DOS.

  • Nokia n95 8gb CDC COMMS ERROR - FAILED DRIVER INST...

Hi, If anyone could put this demon to rest I would be greatly appreciated.
I have been using my NOKIA N95 8GB for over a year with my computer, that runs Wondows Vista. A few months back I discovered that My phone would no longer connect to the computer in Windows Media Player Sync mode. I then found this was true of all connections except PCSUITE. Even though it does connect in pc suite mode, the computer states that it is installing the drivers for the phone,a nd then opens a little windows in the task tray where it says all the things it is installing. Eventually everything except two things are installed. CDC COMMS, and COM16
If I attach the phone in any other connection other than PCSUITE My phone makes an unhealthy fast usb connection tone, and does not seem to resgister. If i go into Device Manager I can see the computer does realise the phone is there but has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. The phone does not show up in Windows Media Player, or in My Computer as a secondary hardrive as it should.
This problem has now been apparent with two different phones, Vodafone sent me a new product to check if it was the phone itself. I checked the phone on my mum's computer and it seems to work fine, I can install all drivers and The phone registers in pc suite and media player.
its a pain having to go back and forth between my mother's house however so any help would be really appreaciated here. Either write on here or email me at
    Thankyou so much

Since you narrow it down the probllem to your pc/laptop why not have your pc/lapto scan for virus/malware from the net. If the problem still persist then have a clean re- install of the os & do a restore of your backup.
