Internet and a onboard lan in asus m2n-mx se

Hi!
Recently I have changed my motherboard to an asus m2n-mx se, wich have lan onboard...
My previous motherboard had lan onboard too (asus a7v600-x), and I have used it with dhcp without problems...
But now, I am trying to use dhcp and is not working...
maybe hwdetect is not detecting the onboard land and do not load that module?
I saw this on the wiki "If for some reason dhcpcd eth0 fails, install dhclient (pacman -Sy dhclient) and use 'dhclient eth0' instead."
(but I have no tried it yet)
Any idea?
What can I do?
TIA, and sorry for the bad english
luciano

it shows:
Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP61 Ethernet (rev a2)
looking in the forum I have found this link... http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=75920

  • Internet Connection Sharing with onboard LAN

    Hi
Does anyone know if it's possible to setup Internet Connection Sharing using the onboard LAN?  I've managed to get shared files and folders working, but can't get internet access on the client PC.
    Using the K8MM3-V
Windows XP Pro on both PC's
    I have 3 NIC's I can use.
The Host PC is using the onboard LAN to connect to the internet
I'm using a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC in both the host and client PC's
The Host PC also has a NETGEAR FA312 Fast Ethernet Adapter (Currently disabled)
I'm using crossover cable and 2 NIC's method.
I don't have a hub, switch or router.
I've had it working before on Windows 2000 Pro, but can't remember how I did it.  (I think it just all worked straight away).
Anyonew knows if this is possible, please let me know.
    Thanks
    Michael

  • G31M3 V2 OnBoard LAN - WOL works Intermittantly

I've set up G31M3 V2 mainboard using on board LAN (Realtek RTL8139/810X) to wake on lan via internet/cable router from the power off mode.
When I shut down the target (remote) computer I can restart within a few minutes using a 'magic packet' (so I assume all router port forwarding and LAN settings are correct). But, if I leave that target computer switched off for half hour or more I can no longer start it using the 'magic packet'.
I'm guessing that charged capacitors are allowing the restart after short power off time but are discharging and preventing activation via LAN after a period of time.
This would mean that power is not being supplied to LAN when computer is shut down. Is there a setting in BIOS that I'm failing to see that ensures power remains applied to LAN board when computer is shut down (but still plugged into power) Could it be my actual Power Supply?
I have wake on PCI-E & wake on PCI (PME#) enabled in bios.
    Any thoughts?

Last year I lost interest in this problem after getting nowhere. Now I'm keen again to try to get WOL working on my computer.
I've re-read this thread and everything I wrote initially is still the case and the problem.
The last reply I had was from 'Cronnin' suggesting checking bios setting.
As I stated in my original question/problem I have enabled 'wake on PCI-E', 'wake on PCI (PME#)' in bios and tried with one or the other enabled and with both enabled.
1: The computer starts from 'shut down' S1 mode via a 'magic packet' if I send the 'magic packet' within a few minutes of shutting down, therefore I assume all addresses, port-forwarding, wol bios settings etc are correct
    BUT
2: Sending exactly the same 'magic packet' after the computer has been shut down for 1/2 hour or more will not turn it on.
The thing that I still think points to the problem is the fact that the green led on the onboard LAN NIC goes off when the computer is shut down (S1 mode). It also goes off when 'S3' mode is selected in bios.
Incidently, in both those shut down modes the 'num lock' led on the keyboard is still on so I gather the PSU is still supplying 5V to the mainboard.
I'm leaning to the idea that the problem is a fault with the motherboard or on-board NIC. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    Thanks in anticipation.

  • K8NGM-V, Onboard-LAN problems

Hi, I'm having some serious problems with the onboard LAN card on my K8NGM-V board. I've been trying alot and I cant get it to work properly. I installed the latest drivers from nvidia (nForce 8.26) and the card is detected and installed as "nvidia nForce networking controller", after a reboot it is assigned an IP from my DHCP router, so far so good. But when I try to access the internet (or my router which I'm directly connected to) it's not working as it should. I'm only getting like 25% successrate when I'm pinging an hompage or a LAN device. It's going REALLY slow to connect to webpages, most of the time the connection times out.
Right now I'm using a PCI network card, which works great. So the problem have to be with the onboard lan.
If anyone have the slightest clue to what could be wrong, please post!

Some nVidea lans seem to have some problems. I'm not sure wether the follwoing will be a solution for your adapter, but trying won't hurt you.
Goto Device manager and look for the adapter. Select Properties -> Advanced and look for Offload Checksum. Set it to Disabled, restart and try your connection. If it doesn't do anything, simply set it to what it was.
Edit: also, check for adware/spyware/virusses and check your firewall settings. Do you have a sperate modem? If so, what happens when you skip the router and connect directly to the modem?

  • KT6V-LSR onboard LAN Help???

I'm having major problems with the onboard LAN on my KT6V-LSR...
Everything was working fine, until I decided to overclocking a little, then problems with the onboard LAN started!!!
Basically when I connect the ethernet wire to the onbaord LAN windows still shows as no connection???
Windows XP recognizes the onboard LAN and I'm able to update drivers, but still no luck regardless of what drivers I use...
I've also tried clearing CMOS and installing a fresh copy of Windows XP and still no luck!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the VIA southbridge takes care of USB, LAN, and audio...   So why is it that my onboard sound and USB works fine but the onboard lan refuese to work???
The green light for the onbaord LAN on the I/O is always lit, is this normal???
I've just bought a PCI network card and it works fine, but the onbard LAN still doesn't work???
I'm thinking it's a defected motherboard, but I do not want to go throught the trouble of RMAing it.
    Any help is welcome...

    Asus Geforce 4 Ti4200 8X (128MB)
    Maxtor 60G ATA 133
    Vantec iON 400W

I've tried taking out the PCI one then disabling the onboard and re-enabling it, but no luck...      It just doesn't work.  Now I'm starting to think it's a bios problem with system standby in S3???  Or perhaps hibernation???
Really, I think I've given up on the onbaord LAN.  Everythings working fine with my PCI networkcard...
So again, thanks guys for contributing on trying to come up with a solution to my onbaord LAN problem...
    Thanks.

    hi there welcome to forum.
Ensure your onboard LAN is turned on from BIOS.
then get LAN drivers(For VIA VT8231/8233/8235/8237 Intergrated LAN Motherboard) and install it from here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=511&kind=1

  • K8N Neo2-F Onboard LAN issues

I seem to have a pretty big issue with my onboard NIC... that would be that it doesn't work.
I've updated the BIOS to the newest version and made sure that the Onboard LAN is enabled in the bios, as well as installed the latest drivers for it, yet it won't connect to the internet. Right now I am using a PCI NIC, but I need it in another system and would like to just use the onboard NIC in this one.
I have plugged the cable in, reset the modem, then reset the computer. (cable connection, by the way).
I'm using Windows XP and it shows that it is connected (no issues), yet I still cannot access the internet at all.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I am having the same problem. I am using a router to connect by DSL and the NIC gets the IP address and  properly identifies the defauult gateway, but I cannot ping the gateway nor connect/ping to any other computer in the workgroup.
I have installed all the updated drivers without any luck.
I have had to install a usb nic to get any connectivity. Help, please?

  • K7N2 Delta onboard lan netcard

    Hi.
Thanks you  for your links and your furom.
But unfortunatly my problem is somewhat too perculiar and I didnt find any help at all regurading my problem.
    Can oyu help me?
I purchased the PHRE 10/100PCI-LL network card to link up my 2 computer.
I got windows Xp on both computers.
The other computer has this card: SMC EZ Card PCI 10 Adapter(SMC1208).
I got the  2 computers linked up with a cable and the 2 cards no hub or anything.
I had a stable link going for about 10 minutes then when I restarted my computers the next day the link never came back.
Is my card blow upp or do I need to configure the cards or windows XP in order to get a stable link?
    Hi,
Its me again about my Phere 10/100 mbps PCI network card.
I forgot to tell you that windows XP is suppose to automatically link up the 2 cards and allow sharing folders but as I wrote before the link was stable for 10 minutes then it was gone.
Im pretty sure that it must be configuring problem but I dont know how.
Althouthg when I had my other card on my Gigaboard I never had any trouble linking up the 2 computers.
So maybe the card is blow up and stop working for linking up computers.
Both cards are working fine for the internet.
If anyone knows bout network outthere please dont be afraid to be gimmi all the details
    Thanks again,
    John

    Afternoon
I had problems with the onboard LAN, which I've got fixed (yay!) I was using a USB-to-Ethernet converter to get broadband through my set-top box, but that's by the by. Anyway, I plugged it straight into the onboard LAN, and not much happened.
Basically, it took ages to load up, and then it would recognise the LAN, but wouldn't connect. Aha! I thought - I remembered noticing an option in BIOS to manually input a MAC address. I have no idea what this is, but I noticed that my USB-to-Ethernet converter had a MAC number printed on the bottom of it. I typed this into the manual entry screen, and hey presto!
I love it when something works and I don't know how
    Take it easy,

  • MSI 785GM-E51 - onboard LAN not working

    Hello,
I've problem with MSI 785GM-E51 board. Suddenly, when I booted system (Ubuntu) I've noticed that there is no network and even network device (lcpci showed no network devices). Is it possible that the onboard LAN got damaged? I tried to check BIOS and renabled oboard LAN/remove PCI devices/unplug power for a few hours etc but nothing helped. Any suggestions?

    LAN card has worked earlier?
PSU is starting to fail? If things work after several re-boots that may very well be the reason.

I have an old PSUS4 and a Samsung ML-2010R.  Both work perfectly so my issues are mostly with getting them to work each time I step up to the next Microsoft OS.  The post by wdboer helped me get my Windows 7 32-bit PC connected to my printer over the LAN and via the PSUS4 so many thanks to wdboer.
    I upgraded to a 64-bit PC with Windows 8 and followed the same instructions and used the Universal Printer Driver downloaded from Samsung but all I got was the printer to 'wake up' but it printed nothing (a direct USB cable connection worked fine).  I finally got the printer to work by;
    1. Windows 8 Control Panel
    2. Device and Printers
    3. Right click on the newly installed printer
    4. Click on the Device Options tab
    5. Selecting the Printer Model drop down and selecting Samsung ML-2010 Series followed by Apply
When I went back to the General Tab and clicked on Print Test Page, the printer woke up and printed the test page
    Cheers, R

  • Problem with onboard LAN

    Hi,
I have the following problem: After playing around with overclocking and having to reset the CMOS a couple of times, my onboard LAN stops working even if I don't overclock anything. No ping, and the traffic LED is always on. And most interesting, when I shutdown my computer the traffic LED stays on. Is this a BIOS bug or what? Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Well as you know Overclocking Can sometimes Fry something, or Everything on the Board, This is why it is Dangerous....But Before we go there, I assume that you Have Tried Disabling and then Re-Enabling the LAN in the BIOS, And in the "Device-Manager"?......And do you have in the Device Manager (Under-Network Connections) the LAN Listed? And if Click on it, does it say "Device Enabled, and Working Properly"?....If yes, then You are going to have to try to Clear The NVRAM in the BIOS by Enabling this option, and this will Reset the PNP/PCI String, and Hopefully that will be it.....If not, Go into the Device-Manager, and Uninstall the Driver, then Reinstall it......Try that, and let us know, And if you already did all of these things, then You May have Bigger Issues................Sean REILLY875

  • KT6Delta onboard lan controller freezes machine!

KT6Delta onboard lan controller freezes machine after a recently purchase of new ram.
            TwinMOS PC3200 TwiSTER DDR 512MB CL2
            Chip = WLCSP, (DDR-PC400MHz)
Why i believe the ram purchase is the issue, you say?
Well you see this ram model is not on the supported list on the motherboard information page to msi. allthough the 256mb model is.
so i had to manually configure the DRAM timing so that my computer would run at fsb 166 and ram at 400mhz.
But lets get back on track. Everytime i copy over the network (large files that use top network speed) the machine either freezes or i might get away with a complete network connetcion loss. so i have tried to copy at different speeds and foudn out that 2 mbyte a sec is possible without the computer hanging.
i contacted http://www.broadcom.com support base and they did not know of any simmilar issues regarding the broadcom 57x integrated network hardware. But they did say that my ram might be the issue because the network card sends its DMA packets there.
    and i quote:
"Response from Broadcom: I am afraid this is not a known issue to me.  But if you are saying with the different RAM this problem was not seen, this point directly to the RAM you use on this system and the compatibility issue.  The RAM could for sure cause this type of the problem since the network adapter DMAs packets into and from the system memory (RAM)."
So can anyone help me? i really want to be able to use my network hardware normally and not being forced to sell my current ram chip and buy a new one.
I can't remember all dram timings options but here are those i do remember.
    CL = 2.5 (yes didn't work with 2)
    Row precharge time = 5
    Ras pulse width = 8
Ras to cas delay = 5

What are your temps? Freezing often happens when CPU usage makes it too hot. I believe there is a way to check CPU usage in XP...
CPU temp is around 45-52 depending on what im doing.

I have a hard time convincing myself that the symtom - the LAN - is the cause.
What do you mean? its the ram chip thats the cause for the network freeze (or at least that's where it all is pointing at).

512mb ddr ram twinmos twiser series
    KT6 DELTA FISR2 or something

  • Wind PC barebones onboard lan problem

This is my fourth barebones I've built. The onboard lan does not appear to be working. There are no lights at the cable connection and windows says a cable is unplugged. I installed the drivers off the msi disk and device manager reports the adapter as enabled. Any ideas. i am currently using a wireless adapter but am concerned there maybe a mobo problem. Appreciate any help. Thanks

If the port does not light up when you connect a good known working cable, and device manager says the network controller is installed and working, then your network port may be broken, in which case there is not much you can do but RMA the unit for replacement.

  • Internet and file sharing on Solaris 10

    Hello,
I have two intel machines at my home. One is running Solaris 10 and other one Windows Xp. Now i want to create a simple LAN ,share internet and files among these two systems. i have joined both machines together and they are connected to each other (confirmed by ping command).
Please help me out with any reference material on the web or give me steps what should i do.
    Help is encouraged
    Regards,

You should be looking at Samba configuration for the file sharing part ,
For the internet sharing part it depends on how ur connectivity to the ISP is configured
If you have a broadband router , configure DHCP server on the router and get the systems to get their IPs from DHCP and you should be able to browse the net provided you have the other required bits such as DNS etc .
