Internet and Itunes with Nike + Sports kit.

Hi,
I am thinking about buying a nike+ sports kit but have just a few questions!
I have my ipod synced/itunes on a Windows Vista laptop, that has no internet.
To use nike+ sports kit do you have to have the internet on the computer which has your ipod synced to itunes?
The other computer in my houshold is a windows XP computer *with internet.*
do i need to sync my ipod/itunes onto this computer in-order to use the sports kit? Or can I use the sports kit on the computer with the internet but which is not the computer i would normally use for general ipod use (Syncing of songs etc)...? DO I need to have all of songs, itunes, internet & sports kit all *on the ONE computer?*
Very tricky to explain...
Help much appreciated!!

The Nike+ plus sports kit does support playback of Audiobooks.  You need to start the audiobook before you start Nike+.

  • Ipod classic and nike sports kit

    hi,
can anyone tell me if the ipod classic is compatible with the nike sports kit, importantly if its not why not?
i spent a considerable amount of money purchasing what i thought was a premium product and it would now appear that it will not even support something that a cheaper ipod (nano) will, how can this be so?
    cheers

The iPod classic is not compatible with the iPod sport kit, likely because its hard drive is much more vulnerable to being dropped than an iPod nano's flash media.

  • I just got my nano 6th generation, and i wonder if i use mi nike   sport kit, i will have an improvement ?

For anyone following, I looked further into the tape cassette adapter and it seems to get the best reviews vs. FM transmitter.  Guess there is a good reason that I have the last year model with a tape cassette.  Worth mentioning is the Maxell one gets a better review than the Monter one.  Not sure why, but it's cheaper. Anyone else find a good quality tape cassette adapter?

  • Any thoughts on tracking Golf rounds with the sports kit?

I am thinking of using the Nike+ sports kit to track the stats on Golf...any other users out there thought about or are using it for this...??
I think I'd be amazed at the distance walked following that little white ball?

If calibrated for walking it could show interesting results. Someone has already tried playing football with it (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=574291) and found that they ran miles in a match!

  • Why no Nike+ sport kit category for 3rd gen nano?

Considering all the problems people (myself included) have been having with the 3rd gen nano and the Nike+ sport kit, does anyone wonder why there is no category for it here (only 1st and 2nd gen)?

It will be coming out soon.

  • Nike sport kit

can you use the nike sport kit with the iPhone 3G?

are they going to make the nike+ sport compatible at all with the 3G? any software upgrade that will make it work? cuz i don't want to buy a new phone!!

  • There are now two Nike+ Sport kit discussion forums

Looks like Apple is splitting the Nike+ Sport kit forum into two groups--1st generation and 2nd generation Nanos. Here's the link for the Nike+ Sport kit for the 2nd gen Nano http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1132
It is also harder to find these two groups if you are new to the Apple Forums. (I asked some friends who don't use the forums to try this out and they were baffled how to find the two Nike+ Sport Kit discussion forums.)

I suspect it's simply that Apple is dividing up discussions in a way that seems logical to them and then indexing accordingly. So if there are two generations of Nanos, they have two Nike+ Sport kit forums. Simple for Apple. Not so simple for users of the Nike+ Sport kit.
For example, I will soon own both Nanos, so when I have question about the Nike+ kit my question will probably relate to both Nanos and will have to post my question on both forums. When I answer questions, the answers about Nike+ in many cases will be the same on both forums. And when the third generation Nano comes out, same drill, now multiplied 3 times!
So rather than splitting the Nike+ forum to follow the multiple generations of Nanos, it would make more sense for members of the Nike+ Sport Kit discussion forum to have one forum for us that includes all generations of Nanos.

  • Can I modify the frequency of the Nike+Sport Kit Notifications?

When I set my Nike+Sport kit on the Time setting, it give me an update every 5 minutes. When running for 180 minutes, every 5 minutes tends to be very annoying. Is there a way to modify the notification setting? Say every 30 minutes instead of every 5 minutes?

You might get a better response from folks who use this if you post in the Nike/sport kit forum here.

  • Calibrating the Nike+ Sports Kit.

After a couple of tries I think I got it now. The information that gets sent to iTunes and nikeplus.com is right, yet -- on the iPod nano itself window --, although the time and pace are correct (in History), the distance is not.
I'll check this out at the nike site but their discussion groups are not so good.

    Hi toffeepup,
As cocon said, you will need the receiver. Here are some of the references...
Based on the iPod nano Specifications page it looks like you will need the Nike + iPod Sport Kit (with the receiver) for the new nano.
From the bottom of that page, under "Which iPod are you?" it says, "Nike + iPod support".
Compare that to the iPod touch which says, " Nike + iPod support built in".
    Also, from Rock and Run
"Then connect the receiver to your iPod nano. iPod touch, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 include built-in support for Nike + iPod, so no receiver is necessary."
Note it does have a built in pedometer, and based on the Features page you can upload that to the Nike+ website. Not sure if that's enough for you.

  • Does 6th Gen iPod Nano need the Nike + Sports Kit?

I have the Nike+ sensor with my Sports Band. To use it with the new 6th Gen Nano, do I have to get the sports kit? Or is this feature built in like the iPhone 3GS and 4? The attachment to the new nano will make the form factor ugly.

  • Nike+ Sport Kit for IPod w/ Video?

I really wanted to know if they were going to make a sport kit for the regular IPod's w/ video becuase I would like to use this tool. ???
    IPod w/ Video   Windows XP

i heard that the reason behind just the nano is that if you run with any other ipod, because it has a harddrive, it would screw up the unit and since the nano uses flash only, it works perfectly with the armband and running, etc...but who knows...monday's WWDC should be interesting or dissapointing.

    Hello Dave_Beaudoin,

Yes as long as you have authorized both computers with your iTunes account, you should be good to go.

  • CAN'T ACCESS INTERNET AND MMS WITH STRAIGHT TALK (...

I made the switch to straight talk unlimited plan with my E5 today. So, I activated it and I can make calls and SMS... cannot access wifi, web browser nor MMS. After being on the fone with customer for about an hour I still have no data. They sent me these input values but, I don't know where to put them (and neither do they):
Please click here or visit www.straighttalk.com at any time to browse our website for information and instructions on how to get the most out of your Straight Talk. To complete your Activation, create a new APN with the following values:
APN Name:  Straight Talk APN:            att.mvno Proxy:          proxy.mvno.tracfone.com Port:             80 MMSC:         http://mmsc.cingular.com MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33 MMS Port:    80
Delete the current APN from your phone. Reboot your phone.
I never had another APN on my fone because I had AT&T prepaid and it was all handled by the SIM card.

    @PepeGraves
Have a look at this screenshot for Internet:
Have a look at this resource and amend accordingly:
    http://www.h2owirelessnow.com/images/pdf/ManualConfigurations011211.pdf
    For MMS try this:
    Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Destinations
Add New. Say no to “Automatically check for available access points?”.
    Choose “Packet Data”
Enter any name you like. Maybe “STMMS” ?
    Choose “Multimedia msg.”
Now you need to go into “Internet” and find the access point you just defined.
    Make the following changes:
Change “Access Point Name” to “att.mvno”.
    User Name: None.
    Prompt Password: No.
    Authentication: Normal.
    Use Access Point: Automatically.
Now you need to press Options > Advanced Settings.
    Set the following options:
    Network Type : IPv4
    Phone IP Address : Automatic
    DNS Address : Automatic
    Proxy Server Address : 66.209.11.33
    Proxy Port Number : 80
    Exit.

  • I have trouble connecting to Apple store and Itunes with my Iphone 4s while my IPad just does it perfectly fine. What can I do?

    Hi guys
for two days my beloved Iphone is just giving me headaches. I am trying to connect to AppStore and Itunes using my home wifi connection. It gets the signal, reads my mail, browses on the internet and gets my news but impossible to access Appstore, Itunes and Youtube. My Ipad is connected to the same wifi spot and does the job perfectly. Why is that and how can I get my Iphone back working.
I used at some point a VPN but it is not activated - Is it related ? what can I do? Do I need to reinitialize the device?
    Thanks a lot!!!

  • I lost my Safari and iTunes with IOS6

Upon upgrading to iOS6, my iPad 2 seems to have lost SAFARI and iTunes.  Settings shows I have Safari in iCLOUD, but I do not have an icon on the mainscreen to use it.  Nor do I have iTunes icon.  I do an iPad search for them with no luck of finding them.  Anyone have any ideas?!?!  HELP!!

If you can't find them on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find them via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > iTunes and Safari being set 'off' ?
