Internet apps slow and many console messages

Safari was slow going from page to page
Internet speed tests showed same download speed as previous > 4 Mbps. Upload speed was a little slower than previous tests
It seems Mail also was having trouble, especially sending
Firefox seems to have the same problems
Another computer on same network, i.e. same internet connection, does not have this problem, thus its not the cable modem or ISP
I see these messages in the Console under various logs
I see this one HUNDREDS of times

I fixed permissions last night and will check if that fixes some of these console messages. I also checked RAM with TechTool which showed no problem. But Safari and Firefox are both still slow going from page to page.

The message about the SyndicationAgent means there is one of your RSS feeds that isn't functioning properly. Try deleting all the feeds you don't use.
The "extended attributes" error comes from running the periodic tasks and is harmless (there's a mistake in Apple's periodic task script). I think the "Mail system is down" is also from the periodic tasks running and also harmless.
My windowserver.log also has the hot key nonsense and the "mapping new allocations" business, and everything is working fine, so I would guess that is also harmless.
Have no idea about the "kCGErrorCannotComplete" errors, nor the "CGContextClipToRect: invalid context" error in mail.
You might try setting up a test account and see if Safari works there. If it does, then you know there is some setting you have in regular account that is causing the problems.

First try using Spotlight Search to find Settings.  If that works go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Settings.  If you can't get to Settings:
    Try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work do a restore from backup or to factory settings:

  • Slow time machine, console messages: mdworker: unable to talk to lsboxd, and mdworker 32:kCGErrorFailure:set a breakpoint@CGErrorBreakpoint()

    iMac: model indentifier: iMac11,3
    processor: 3.2GHz intel core i3
    Software: OSX lion 10.7.5
Current problem: Time machine running extremely slowly as is computer. When time machine is "preparing to update" if I attempt to open any drive, that function freezes the computer.
I followed web advice to check for console message:  mdworker: unable to talk to lsboxd.  Found that to be present.  As recommended, I turned off computer, restarted in safe mode, logged in and restarted computer.  checked console, I see this same message and another message that may be problematic: mdworker: 32: kCGErrorFailure: set a breakpoint@CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch srrors as they are logged.
Both these messages being recorded every few minutes in the console log.
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you,

    Hello Mr Davis,
Thanks for your willingness to help I really appreciate your assistance.
I decided to watch what was happening a bit more to see if I could discern a pattern to the problem so that I could pose a more refined question.
This am, after the computer was left on all night, I noticed time machine (TM) was running.  I opened the console window, and noted after entering "starting" in the search field corresponding to "all messages"  that hourly, there is a notation:
date, time, then "starting standard backu" followed by date, time and starting post backup thinning".
However, then there is the entry below at 12:25:46am referring to "starting standard backup" and there is no subsequent entry in the log referring to thinning having occured.  I wonder if this corresponds to TM running now and I am guessing, ever since 12:25:46 am?
Once again, it seems that the problem is that when TM is running in this fashion, the computer slows down tremendously and operating particular programs such as photo processing lightroom that require more power, become very slow in particular.
I copied and pasted a section of the log as it seems to repeat the same sequence of information over and over all night long.  I did not copy and paste the entire log since 12:25:46 am, as I wanted to not paste an excessive amount of lines here, but can do that if you like.
I hope I followed your directions correctly. thanks again, Jeff

  • Slow Mac and Suspicious Console Message

I've been researching how to speed up my 2010 macbook running 10.75 and read about console messages. Looking at mine, I saw this:
An instance 0x7fcba739e700 of class IMAPConnection was deallocated while key value observers were still registered with it. Observation info was leaked, and may even become mistakenly attached to some other object. Set a breakpoint on NSKVODeallocateBreak to stop here in the debugger. Here's the current observation info:
        <NSKeyValueObservationInfo 0x7fcba669c2d0> (
<NSKeyValueObservance 0x7fcba61e04c0: Observer: 0x7fcba3e82970, Key path: isDisconnected, Options: <New: NO, Old: NO, Prior: NO> Context: 0x0, Property: 0x7fcba54daa70>
Does that mean someone has installed a key stroke tracker???

I believe that those messages have to do with memory management and memory being allocated and deallocated, and have nothing to do with keystroke loggers.

  • GT70 internet very slow and sluggish when waking from sleep

My GT70 sometimes is very slow and sluggish to respond when it is awoken from sleep mode. Browsers become unresponsive (hyperlinks don't register as links and require multiple clicks to respond) and internet gets very slow. Speedtest.net reports  .50-3mb/s when it is usually 24mb/s and above.  The hdd also thrashes about and won't calm down for what seems like an eternity.
This only happens when opening the lid after the machine sits idle for several hours. This is fixed by restarting the machine.
Does anyone know why this laptop would be behaving like this? it is very frustrating and makes sleep mode pretty much useless.
    cheers,

First thing I would do is get CPU-Z and open that after wake-up and seeing if the CPU is running at the speed expected, or if it's stuck at some lower speed.
thanks for the reply. will try that next time it happens.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

It means you do not have enough Space on your Device and need to create More Space on Your Device by Deleting some items off your device.

  • Internet too slow and erratic to update software

I have had an iMac G5 at home for about one year. The problem is my internet connection (DSL) is too slow and erratic to download files bigger than 10 mb. Can I get software updates on a CD? Or is there another way to get those downloaded files? Zipped, maybe?

  • Safari Slow and ichat timeout message-Computer only 2 weeks old

So I just got my new mac 2 weeks ago.  Considering that my computer is new and the high expectations I have for mac, the web pages are really slow to load.  Sometimes the blue progress bar doesn't even make it past http://.
Also, when I try to communicate with someone on ichat it always delivers a server timeout message. My buddies say that it looks like I am signing on and off on their end.
I tried the suggestions listed in the discussions and am still experiencing slow load times and server timeout messages. It seems strange to me that this would happen considering I just got the computer. I am beginning to question my decision to switch to a mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello sk:
You +"just kind of pick up a signal from somewhere in my building or neighborhood."+
If you are not subscribing to an ISP, you are piggybacking on some other service. *NO ONE* here can fix that for you.

  • After updating to 10.10.2, my OpenGL applications do not work, and there are problems with window updates/refresh in App Store, and many applications, Google Chrome is unusable.

After performing the OS X 10.10.2 update, OpenGL applications, for example Starry Night Pro fail to run, there are numerous windows update/refresh problems (incomplete refresh, remnants of window/frame borders), and some applications, for example Google Chrome are unusable, as cursor motion in the application window causes the display to flash horizontal bars in the window.
I've tried a variety of things, including downloading the most current release of Xcode, turning on/off transparency in Accessibility, graphics switching, and a few other things, but the problem persists.
The App Store display behaves similarly.  I am running a MacBook Pro.

  • Trying to buy Imovie form App store and have the message: These apps cannot be accepted on this computer.     Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update. How to solve it?

I have a MBP form July 2011, upgraded to Lion 10.7.4. Last week I had to restore the OS.
I also bought some time ago Iphoto.
Today I wanted to install Imovie from App Store. Instead of the Buy bottom I found an Accept bottom and when I tryed to install I had the message:
These apps cannot be accepted on this computer.
Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update.
I looked for a solution and found a lot of questions about this error but not real answers to fix it.
Can you please let me know hoe to fix?

Your Mac should have had all three of the iLife apps pre-bundled with it; iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. If your Mac came with Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed, then the apps should be on the Install DVD that came with your Mac, perhaps in a folder on the disc labeled bundled apps. After installing them, these apps would not be updated through the Mac App Store, but with Software Update.
