Some banks are notoriously uncaring and lazy about what systems and browsers they support.

As it says in this document:
    http://developer.apple.com/internet/safari/
"Safari complies with standards, but not all browsers do. This article explains how to design, modify and validate your website so that it can be rendered and read properly by all major browsers."
The bank/s need to read this:
"Safari is one of the most standards-compliant browsers ever built. Thus, your best bet for ensuring your pages render properly in Safari — today’s version and beyond — is to follow web standards. For a great overview of web standards, check out Mozilla.org’s article Using Web Standards in Your Web Pages."

  • Problen with Internet Banking

    Hi,
I am having trouble with Internet Banking.
I am trying to transfer funds from one account to another, but my mac comes up with an error message.  When I contacted my bank they said it was a known problems with Mac PC's.  Is there somthing in the pipe line to repair this problem?

If the banks software doesn't work with Macs, it's their software that's at fault.
    I assume you're using Safari?
    Try enabling the Developer menu in Safari Preferences;
Then go to the Develop menu and select User Agent > IE (latest version offered).
That may allow it to work with your bank's software; chances are about 50-50.
If the site is using Activex controls, nothing will make it work, as Mac doesn't support Activex (which is a proprietry MS process).
If my bank were using Activex, they wouldn't be my bank for long, as it's inherently insecure.
That's the most likely possibility for the problem. Any fix can only be made from their side - it's nothing to do with the Mac.

  • I TRY TO DO INTERNET BANKING WITH KOREA BASED BANK, BUT I NEED TO USE LESS THAN FIREFOX 9.0. MY COMPUTER IS FIREFOX 10.0.

hi, i try to use firefox to connect my bank information in Korea where i recently registered for internet banking. But , as soon as i get into that website, a window showing that i can not use this browser because it has to be firefox 3.5-9.0. Mine is firefox 10.0.Is there any way to downgrade this number?

    Hey INJOOYON,
There are a lot of benefits to running the latest version of Firefox. You might want to consider running the older version on [http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36 a USB Stick with PortableApps]. That way you'll still be able to run the latest version for your day to day activities.
You could also try User Agent Switcher: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/
If you still want to roll back to a previous version of Firefox, just take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Installing a previous version of Firefox]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I think I have opened the sobig.f virus in my hotmail account and it keeps seding emails to my contacts. How do I stop it, and will it effect any of my other transactions like internet banking/shopping, is it safe?

I think I have opened the sobig.f virus in my hotmail account and it keeps seding emails to my contacts. How do I stop it, and will it effect any of my other transactions like internet banking/shopping, is it safe To continue using my ipad ?

This isn't due to malware. There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPad that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
As lizdance40 says, your Hotmail account has been hacked remotely. Change the password immediately. Hotmail accounts are popular targets, but as long as you choose a good password, and make sure that password is not the same as a password you use with any other account, you should be safe.
I disagree with lizdance40's statement that you have to abandon the account and create a new e-mail address. If a hacker is able to get back in even after changing the password, the problem is not with the account itself. There's another vulnerability of some kind somewhere. Perhaps the account allows hackers to leave a "back door" to get back in (such as with GMail's delegation feature), in which case any such feature needs to be reviewed and have settings changed. Perhaps you are checking mail in an insecure manner while on an insecure network (ie, a wireless network that requires no password). Perhaps you are using a password on multiple accounts, and a different account has been compromised. Perhaps a hacker has used knowledge gained by prior access to your account to achieve "social hacking" (ie, convincing a tech to give him access because he has "forgotten the password"). There are many scenarios, but there's no good reason to abandon the account entirely.

  • Lloydstsb Internet banking doesn't work on iPod touch safari

have just set up and tested my iPod touch with my favourite sites, and all was well until I tried my Internet banking. If you try and log into www.lloydstsb.com Internet banking, you are just constantly redirected to the original signin page with no errors. I have turned on the debug option in safari, and do see 2 HTML missing tag errors when I try to log in, but this site works perfectly on safari for Mac and pc. There doesn't appear to be a "report bugs to apple" link in safari either, even with the debug output turned on. Has anyone else had this issue? I presume this issue will be present on the iPhone too.

    Thanks guys
I am pretty sure the issue isn't with my bank. If you just go to www.lloydstsb.com and choose to log into personal banking, then hit the continue button under the login box (without entering any username or password) it will just reload the same login page. In any other. On a mac or a pc it will give you an error that you entered invalid details. I think it's an issue with safari on the touch.
Is the product feedback page really the only way to raise this specific bug with them? I upgraded my tomtom firmware the other day, and it had a bug on my particular hardware. I hit the tomtom site, support area, phone number, then called them in the I'm and they were able to advise me that this was a known issue and could talk me through fixing it. That's what I call customer service, and this was on a 3 year old £70 piece of hardware. I aparently am allowed to raise only 1 support call within 90 days of my purchase, and that's it. I don't want to waste it on this one bug.

  • Where can I get the main password for Firefox? I can not reach in my internet bank because i don't know this password?

    Hi,
i have a problem. I'm reaching my internet bank via Firefox. But suddenly it is asking me to type a ''main password''. This is not a password for internet bank account but it supposed to be a password for Mozilla. I don't remember setting this password and now I'm not able to log in in my bank. Where can i get this password asap?
Thank you very much for your help,
    Janza

Is this the Master Password for the Firefox Password Manager?
The Current Firefox release allows to save a name and password from sites that have a log in form with autocomplete="off".
If you want to disable this new feature then you can toggle the signon.storeWhenAutocompleteOff pref to false on the <b>about:config</b> page with a double-click.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Can you access the saved passwords?

  • Unable to download statements from my internet banking site, I use OS X 10.8.3 and could always read them before today

I log into the internet banking website and click on the account I wish to see the statement for. The site takes me to another page to view the statement but there is nothing there to view. I got an error message the first time I logged into the site to get the statement, but this has now gone and I do not get the error message again, even when I have logged out and back in again. I downloaded the latest version of Adobe reader, and still no luck. I have been able to get these statements with no problems prior to today, 26th March 2013. I have not changed any other settings in Firefox or elsewhere, and I do not know where to go from here. I can view the statements on another computer. I have an iMac desktop running OS X 10.8.3

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.

  • Internet Banking

    Hi,
I can be connected to internet using iphone. However, when I try accessing Internet banking, I can be able to log in. I undertstand there must be some script or stuff to do.. PLease help me to solve the problem.

I'm not aware of any required script.
I access my bank account information with the Safari browser on my iPhone, and the only thing required is the login - the same as when accessing my bank account information with Safari on my Mac, or with a browser on a Windows PC.
There should be nothing special required, unless your bank requires something special that is out of the ordinary.
What sort of login is required when accessing your bank with a browser on your computer? A user name, or account number and password?
If so, the same should apply with the Safari browser on your iPhone.

  • UK bank - First Direct - prevents Safari accessing internet banking

First Direct has just withdrawn access to its Internet Banking service for anyone using the Safari browser. No notice, no consultation, no explanation - just a screen saying (paraphrased) 'Safari not supported, go and get Firefox'. On calling the bank they are obviously very busy with complaints and the technical support people said Safari doesn't work with the new security procedures - well it did two days ago!
I wonder whether Apple might like to contact the bank about its policy before I have to go to all the trouble of moving my mortgage, etc.

    Sarah,
Received no other complaints? You can tell how many complaints they've had by how long it took to answer, and when I started the conversation with "I've just tried to use Internet Banking", the operator said "Do you use an Apple Mac?". She confirmed that they'd had lots of complaints - this was at 0700 13 March.

  • Where is the security feature (closed lock) when I sign on for internet banking?

I upgraded to firefox4.0.1 and now I can't tell if my internet banking is safe. I don't see the closed "lock" when I'm about to sign on.

The lock symbol has been removed in Firefox 4 and replaced with the [[Site Identity Button]]
