Internet Connect error message
Help! Though I have no problems accessing the web via ethernet, I continue to get an annoying pop up display message all the time:
"Internet Connection - Could not open communication device"
All connection options are disabled as best I can tell - except for the ethernet.
It might be some program running in the background.
Check System Preferences Accounts pane +Login Items+ tab to see if there are any likely suspects from the list of processes that startup up automatically when you log in.
Also check your Dashboard to see if you left any widgets running.
You can run Activity Monitor to see a list of running processes. You can filter it to show only processes owned by your user ID. It is often not clear if a process should be running in the background or not, but you may see something that is obviously +not right+.
As a test, you can create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane

Log out and log in to the new account (do not use Fast User Switching). In the new account, you will be using default user settings and running only standard processes (unless you installed third party software that runs at the system level). Note if this message comes up when you are using the new account. If it does not, the problem is somewhere in your normal user account.

Bridge Startup "Internet Connection Error" Message
I'm using a Dell Dimension 8300, with 512 M. of RAM.
I live in an area where dial up is my only internet option, so most of the time I use Adobe Bridge I am off line. I just updated to Adobe Bridge 1.0.3.107. Now, whenever I start Bridge, I get a message telling me that "There was a problem with my Internet Connection." This is an irritation, minor, but irritating still.
I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to disable automatic checking for the Internet. Since I never use Adobe Stock Photos, it I have little use for an Internet link to Bridge or Photoshop.
Thanks in advance.It's a known issue. If you use Online Services then there isn't a lot that can be done at present. However, if you don't use the feature then simply removing the OLS script will eliminate the problem. You can do so by:
1. Open Bridge Preferences
2. Hit the Reveal: "Reveal Scripts in Finder/Exporer" button
3. Find the ols.jsx script in the dialog that opens in 2 above.
4. Drag the ols.jsx out of the folder
5. Restart Bridge and the problem will be gone -
WRT54Gs newbie: no internet connection error message

I picked up a used WRT54Gs v7 and am tying to install it in my network. I'm wanting to have another wireless access point other than our iMac.
After looking through the "Guide Me" here on this site, I was able to get the ethernet connection working so the iMac connects to the internet. Although I can connect my laptop via the iMac's wireless point, I haven't been able to connect wirelessly to the WRT54Gs with either the laptop or my cell phone. On the laptop, the error is "No Interntet Connection.".
It also feels like my internet connection is slower through the Linksys than it was through a "generic" switch.
So, since I'm a newbie, what should my troubleshooting look like in order determine if there are settings that need to be adjusted or if it's simply a bum unit?
ThanksHi, how did you connect the WRT54GS router? Did you connect that router to a modem or to another router? How was that router configured? Is it acting as a DHCP server or just a plain switch? I would suggest that you upgrade the router’s firmware and to reset the router in order for the router to have a stable performance. I'm actually surprised that Apple continues to push out 8.02 without addressing these issues. The problem will only anger more users and certainly finger-poking at Airplane Mode isn't the answer. This is an iOS8 code problem and no amount of 'resetting' is providing a reliable fix/solution that sticks.
These issues with loss of cell connectivity, apps that have lost functionality, etc., which are all directly associated to the arrival of iOS8, are so widespread in the user community and pervasive within individual iPads that it's clear there are significant fundamental problems with this release. Given the problems are so blatant, it's fair to ask the question of how they got by the Apple validation team.
What is the status at Apple on rolling out a fully V&V'd version to resolve this? Respectfully, when it comes to some of my more useful apps, my personal iPad has become a paperweight. The user forums are full of these iOS8 complaints for several weeks and there doesn't seem to be a competent answer from Apple. Even a "We're aware and we're working on it" would be well received.
Any hope that you can provide will be appreciated. (I'll be monitoring the thread on my Dell laptop because, well, my iPad is i-Inop!).

AEBS and internet connection errors and dns errors.

It was running fine until I turned on my mybook one day like I had done several times before.
I received an error regarding a disk error with it. I could not find any problems though. But since then my AEBS has been having difficulty connecting to the internet. I can download via bit torrent, but not be able to surf the internet. I restart my internet connection, which involves turning off the power supply and restarting it, and I can surf the internet again. However, I receive a DNS server error, but everything seems to be fine, and I can surf the internet.
If I restart the AEBS it will not allow me to surf the internet, even though it says everything is fine. I can actually manage to go to google and do google searches, cant navigate away from there, but none the less new content. I have managed to download via Itunes and bit torrent but not surf to hot mail.com etc.
I know I can ignore it and the flashing amber light will go away, but that ignores the problem and doesn't fix anything. besides it still says I have an Internet connection error from day one. I dont't know why, and no ones been able to help with that.

My isp uses a dynamic IP, so I have to use the automatic dhcp setting.
AEBS uses to go back to green light and automatically resolve the dns error, now not at all.
Please help, this is very frustrating.
thanksBump, and of course I have set the message to ignore, which created a green light and now have 2 unresolved problem and internet works.
Still have the DNS server error, despite manually putting it in.
Still have internet connection error despite having a connection.
If I restart my airport extreme, the DNS message goes away, but does not allow me to access the internet through any web browser, but it works through one of my computers via bit torrent, but nothing else.
If I rest my internet connection I can access the internet, but recieve the DNS error. The internet connection error I have always had, for reasons unknown.
Is the extreme broken?
I have done a factory reset on the airport and hard reset on the internet complete with the unplugging everything. My connection is stable according to my ISP, and I agree with them.
This seems to be a Airport extreme problem.

The inability to log into iCloud.com (sporadic problem), use Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc. (consistent problem), send error reports (consistent problem) from a PC seems to be a common problem; perhaps going back to November/December of last year.
I can only respond based on my findings with Windows 7 (Home Premium and Pro) running on three Dell PCs (2 Desktops and 1 Laptop). It appears that the problem results from an add-on to the 32-bit version of IE9 (Windows default browser). The 64-bit version of IE9, since Windows 7 does not allow it to be the default browser, doesn’t seem to be affected by the problematic add-on and seems to work flawlessly when accessing iCloud.com. It appears that most add-on’s aren’t designed to integrate with the 64-bit version of IE9, only the commonly used 32-bit version.
In my case Norton Internet Security (Browser Protection) was the add-on preventing the 32-bit version of IE9 from working with iCloud.com. Temporarily disabling NIS’s Browser Protection allowed the 32-bit version of IE9 to work fine. Perhaps the browser protection add-on in other security software packages causes the same type problem.
The workaround that I would recommend is downloading and using Apple’s Safari version 5.1.7. to access iCloud.com. It consistently works!!!! To make things easier with Safari, I made iCloud.com its Homepage. I’m using it to access iCloud.com from all of my PCs.
Until Apple, Microsoft, or Norton (in my case) figure out where the problem is, you'll need a workaround to consistently access and use iCloud.com and I think Safari is the best answer. -
HP Web Services keeps returning a no internet connection error. HP1025nw
I am trying to setup the eprint service to work on my printer. When I try to enable web-service on my printer, it returns an error message saying, there is no internet connection.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are getting a connection error message when trying to enable the web services on your Laserjet CP1025nw printer.
Please set a static IP and manual DNS servers for the printer. The steps can be found in the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document. For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual DNS Sever and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate Preferred DNS Server. These are Google’s DNS servers.
Please let me know how it goes.

The updater gives a no internet connection error but the internet is connected
The updater for Adobe Elements has an "No internet connection please check your internet settings/and or firewall waiting for connection" error message. I have confirmed that my internet is connected
Which operating system are you using?
The photoshop elements 6 updater never has worked to actually get the updates and doesn't work at all now, so you need to download and install any updates yourself.
Photoshop elements 6 only has camera raw updates which you can get from here:

I've tried to download the flash player several different times and each time i get a connection error message.It downloads fine and when i run the file to start install, it installs up to 5% and then i get the connection error message. I've tried disabling my antivirus software, closing my browser for install and nothing.Can someone please help me? I'm using Firefox.

It allows you to download it offline, which is what I used.

When I attempt to export/import via FTP for OOTP 11 I get a connectivity error message
I participate in OOTP ver 11 fantasy baseball leagues which uses FTP to export and import league databases. For some reason, I have been unable to import/export using FTP. Each time I attempt to export/import I get a connectivity error message stating "am unable to connect". I have not had this problem with the previous versions of OOTP Fantasy Baseball. Plus, when I first upgraded to OOTP 11, I did not have this problem.

I can log into my iCloud account on my iphone but when I try to log in on my pc I keep getting a connection error message. Any ideas?
Same problem. I can see the itunes store so not a problem with windows firewall. The account is active on my iphone so i know i am not locked out. I can connect the PC to my iphone so i know itunes is working ok. It is just logging into itunes on this pc which doesn't work. Only thing I can think of is that the email address I use for my apple id has been offline for a while and is working again now, I'm wondering whether this has been the case for others who are having this issue?

I have been using my N8 for one year.
I have not faced any problem so far except this one.
For the last couple of days,
Whenever I start to speak on the phone , in a few seconds time, call ends and I get same message.
"CONNECTION ERROR"
I try to call again.
A few seconds after connection establishes and speak starts, N8 give me same message again.
"CONNECTION ERROR"
It is not possible to speak with my N8.
I removed SIM card from N8 to my old phone.
It works properly.
WHAT MAY BE THE REASON of "CONNECTION ERROR" message from my N8 ??
